*Mondaynight The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore debuted in the time slot formerly occupied by the Colbert Report on Comedy Central with a format that appears to be one part Politically Incorrect and one part The Daily Show.

The first guests to visit The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore were former Newark Mayor and current U.S. senator Cory Booker, hip-hop artist and activist Talib Kweli, and actor/comedian Bill Burr with additional commentary from correspondent Shenaz Treasury.

The opening monologue was tight like hallways and the guests were bold and uncensored in their honest assessments of the days current events.

When The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore was initially proposed, my immediate hope were that it be intelligent, relevant and daring. All of those hopes were realized with the first show as Wilmore deftly and skillfully plied his wares on late night television.

Well be tuning in next week to see if he can keep this up and will tune in next week. Check out this video of a behind the scenes look at The Nightly Shows set in this video shot at a media meet-and-greet just days before the premiere.

Claims: Victoria Wasteney (picture yesterday) launched an employment tribunal against the East London NHS Trust, claiming her employers discriminated against her because of her religion

A Christian health worker has told an employment tribunal that the NHS trust she works for did not clear her of bullying a Muslim colleague because it was 'politically incorrect'.

Victoria Wasteney, 37, was disciplined for alleged bullying and harassment after Enya Nawaz, 25, told managers that the senior occupational health therapist had tried to convert her to Christianity.

Today, Miss Wasteney launched an employment tribunal against the East London NHS Trust, claiming her employers discriminated against her because of her religion.

Miss Wasteneyaccused the NHS of making her look like a 'religious nutcase' and said she never attempted to convert Miss Nawaz.

She told the tribunal that she believed she and Miss Nawaz were friends and alleged Miss Nawaz was 'manipulated' into complaining against her by colleagues who had an anti-Christian agenda.

Today Miss Wasteney claimed the Trust had failed to clear her of wrongdoing after a nine-month disciplinary process because it would be 'politically incorrect' to find a Christian innocent.

The Train to Crystal City:FDRs Secret Prisoner Exchange Program and Americas Only Family Internment Camp During World War IIbyJan Jarboe Russell Scribner

The name sounds like a fairyland amusement park, but it was quite the opposite. Crystal City, explains journalist Russell, was a WWII family internment camp in Texas for German, Italian and Japanese immigrants. The only US camp of its kind, Crystal City was a center for secret prisoner exchanges. Groups of immigrants and their children were traded for businessmen, diplomats, scientists and soldiers deemed more important by the US. A book that casts a light on a dark chapter in our history.

Larry Wilmore is ready for his Nightly Show closeup

Dealing with contemporary issues and controversies will be a regular feature of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.

Standing on the set of his new series, which debuts 11:30 p.m. Monday on Comedy Central the old Colbert Report timeslot Wilmore tells a group of reporters, If The Daily Show and Politically Incorrect had a kid, it would be this show.

Wilmore is known to Comedy Central viewers from his role on The Daily Show.Photo: Comedy Central

Wilmores brand-new set is in the same spot as The Colbert Report on Manhattans far West Side.

On one side, a desk with several chairs invites panel discussion across from a green screen. On the other, there are shelves decorated with old clocks, cameras and typewriters opposite a wall of clocks with jokey time zones such as Pasadena, Obamas Birth Place and Pompeii among others.

Well done and clever, considering that the numbers on the clocks run counterclockwise.

Tall and distinguished in a dark tailored suit, Wilmore, the former Senior Black Correspondent on The Daily Show and, most recently, an executive producer on ABCs hit comedy Black-ish stands apart from his producers Rory Albanese and Amy Ozols and his head writer Robin Thede to talk about the format of his show.

In addition to his trademark deconstructive point of view, he wants to have a mix of real people and glamour people to talk about the issues of the day.

Like many talk show hosts before him, Wilmore says that The Nightly Show, which was created by Jon Stewart, will focus on issues rather than personalities. And there will likely always be a comedian.

This is my barbershop, Wilmore said. No matter how heated it gets, its still a barbershop. I think we may cover the State of the Union address.
