Take it from Andrew Berry, the new general manager of the Cleveland Browns, who said in a recent interview (while he was still working for the Eagles) that machine learning techniques and data are having more of an impact in all the different spaces of football operations. In a talk given while he was working for the team, former Patriots senior software engineer Sean Harrington said his job included machine learning, data warehousing and visualizations.

As more teams embrace the use of data and advanced statistical techniques to inform decision-making, they are looking to hire analysts to make sense of the information and avoid being left behind. But without connections to the technical world, finding the right people can be challenging.
