Assange hits back at threats from ‘tolerant liberals’ and brands Hillary Clinton a JOKE – Express.co.uk

GETTYTWITTER

Using the hashtag #tolerantliberal, Mr Assange has spent a considerable amount of time retweeting articles and posts from senior journalists at organisations who appear to have called for an extrajudicial killing.

In his flurry of tweets, Mr Assange included compilation videos showing both Democrats and Republican politicians in the US, calling for him to be hanged or droned.

A number of videos even show TV pundits calling for the Wikileaks founder to be executed, with the Palmer Report going as far as to compare him to terrorist Osama Bin Laden.

TWITTER

In response, he launched a scathing attack at the mainstream media for their lack of standards.

Mr Assange wrote: These journalists love nothing more than to threaten to help assassinate me and my staff and my sources for telling the truth.

They couldn't dream of our accuracy or independence. I have abiding contempt for their lack of standards and craven characters.

Mr Assange was once the focus of intense hate from the conservative media following the release of classified security information on his website.

The tables appear to have turned however, with the hate now coming from their liberal counterparts following the publishing of leaked emails from the Democratic National Committee during last years US presidential election.

In his retaliation, Mr Assange hit out at Hillary Clintons comments against him, going as far as to label her failed Presidential campaign a joke.

He wrote: She said it was a joke--a bit like her election campaign? It's certainly not good to threaten our staff or torture our alleged sources.

After retweeting a series of posts from Twitter users calling for him to be tortured and put to death, Mr Assange concluded that liberals aint liberal.

He wrote: Theyve fallen into bed with the worst elements of state hard power & love censorship and death.

Risk review serviceable portrait of Julian Assange’s vanity | Film … – The Guardian

Unembarrassable Julian Assange in Risk. Photograph: Praxis Films

No one has gone from hero to zero quite as quickly or as embarrassingly as Julian Assange, and by embarrassingly I mean for those of us who once rather admired him. The man himself is unembarrassable.

It seems clear that Laura Poitrass film was originally designed in form and content for hero, like her Snowden documentary, and the movie tries to wriggle away from Assange a bit. (I should say that I have not seen the earlier cut, which was reportedly more sympathetic; the re-edit itself arguably an admission of error should perhaps have been far more radical and self-questioning, or perhaps this documentary should have been dumped entirely in favour of a new one about Chelsea Manning.) At any rate, its a serviceable portrait of vanity.

The founder of the whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks, once feted for challenging official secrecy and arrogance, is now absurd in his creepy conceit, paranoia and celebrity hauteur, holed up in Londons Ecuadorian embassy to avoid a rape allegation in Sweden. Hes keeping in shape with boxercise, doing interviews with Lady Gaga and waffling interminable double-talk in a conspiratorial murmur. His relationship with Pamela Anderson isnt touched on, and neither is his apparent sympathy for Marine Le Pen. Is he just another liberal who shuffled to the right or alt-right in middle age? Or is he someone for whom a clinical diagnosis is in order, addicted to the thrill of seeming to manipulate global, digital forces?

Poitrass film begins as the rape allegations have been made public, with Assange staying with his entourage in a Norfolk country house. Amal Clooney is glimpsed at his side on the courtroom steps but invisible thereafter, and Assange takes cover on Ecuadorian soil within sight of Harrods department store in west London. He says the whole rape allegation is a scam to extradite him to the US; but why wasnt he extradited from Britain? Arent we supposed to be Americas poodle? Its an obvious question Poitras never asks.

We do see Helena Kennedy QC trying to get him to play the game, say hes innocent but that women are naturally entitled to bring rape allegations if they wish but Assange airily sticks to his conspiracy theory, to Kennedys obvious mortification and dismay.

During the US election, he became hated for releasing emails that embarrassed Hillary Clinton. Of course if he had released documents that undermined Donald Trump that might well have restored his heroic reputation. But the question never arose. It suited Julians hackers and backers to damage Hillary. And still there is no end in sight. Perhaps Assange will die of old age in his tiny embassy cell convinced of his martyrdom to the last.

Is Pamela Anderson Dating French Soccer Star Adil Rami? – PEOPLE.com

DoesPamela Anderson have a new French beau?

The formerBaywatch star, 49, was seen kicking it with French soccer star Adil Rami, 31, in St. Tropez on Thursday, where the two shared a cozy dinner at La Gioa restaurant.

The duo sparked rumors in the French media after they were spotted out together in Nice over a week ago. Theyve also reportedly been seen spending time together around St. Tropez.

Rami, who born on the island of Corsica to Moroccan parents, played defense for Sevilla FC and the French national team. He earned himself the nickname Shrek because, asESPN explained in 2011, Rami eats voraciously and has been known, just occasionally, to belch. Loudly.

What Andersons budding relationship with Rami means for her other rumored love interest,Julian Assange, remains unclear. The controversial Wikileaks founder remains holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. The actress was first spotted visiting him therelast October, and shes written about her numerous visits to him inseveral lengthy posts on her website.

Anderson recently announced plans to open a restaurant to support Assanges release. Shes proposed opening an all-vegan pop-up in the South of France for 50 nights and says she has invited French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife to attend.

Join me on the day I open the doors, and we will sit and eat good food and discuss what can be done for Julian. France could display its strength, and so could you, if you give Julian asylum, she wrote in an onlinetribute to Assange.

Assange has claimed political asylum at the embassy since 2012 in order to avoid facing extradition to Sweden over a rape allegation he has long refuted. Assange has said he fears being sent to the U.S. to face espionage charges in relation to WikiLeaks.

Julian Assange: The CIA director is waging war on truth …

By Julian Assange By Julian Assange April 25

Julian Assange is editor of WikiLeaks.

Mike Pompeo, in his first speech as director of the CIA, chose to declare war on free speech rather than on the United States actual adversaries. He went after WikiLeaks, where I serve as editor, as a non-state hostile intelligence service. In Pompeos worldview, telling the truth about the administration can be a crime as Attorney General Jeff Sessions quickly underscored when he described my arrest as a priority. News organizations reported that federal prosecutors are weighing whether to bring charges against members of WikiLeaks, possibly including conspiracy, theft of government property and violating the Espionage Act.

All this speech to stifle speech comes in reaction to the first publication in the start of WikiLeaks Vault 7 series. Vault 7 has begun publishing evidence of remarkable CIA incompetence and other shortcomings. This includes the agencys creation, at a cost of billions of taxpayer dollars, of an entire arsenal of cyber viruses and hacking programs over which it promptly lost control and then tried to cover up the loss. These publications also revealed the CIAs efforts to infect the publics ubiquitous consumer products and automobiles with computer viruses.

When the director of the CIA, an unelected public servant, publicly demonizes a publisher such as WikiLeaks as a fraud, coward and enemy, it puts all journalists on notice, or should. Pompeos next talking point, unsupported by fact, that WikiLeaks is a non-state hostile intelligence service, is a dagger aimed at Americans constitutional right to receive honest information about their government. This accusation mirrors attempts throughout history by bureaucrats seeking, and failing, to criminalize speech that reveals their own failings.

President Theodore Roosevelt understood the danger of giving in to those foolish or traitorous persons who endeavor to make it a crime to tell the truth about the Administration when the Administration is guilty of incompetence or other shortcomings. Such endeavor is itself a crime against the nation, Roosevelt wrote. President Trump and his officials should heed that advice.

Words matter, and I assume that Pompeo meant his when he said, Julian Assange has no First Amendment freedoms. Hes sitting in an embassy in London. Hes not a U.S. citizen. As a legal matter, this statement is simply false. It underscores just how dangerous it is for an unelected official whose agencys work is rooted in lying and misdirection to be the sole arbiter of the truth and the interpreter of the Constitution.

Pompeo demonstrated a remarkable lack of irony when he suggested that WikiLeaks focus instead on the autocratic regimes in this world that actually suppress free speech and dissent even as he called for a crackdown of such speech. In fact, Pompeo finds himself in the unsavory company of Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey (257,934 documents published by WikiLeaks); Bashar al-Assad of Syria (2.3 million documents); and the dictatorship in Saudi Arabia (122,609 documents), to name just a few who have tried and failed to censor WikiLeaks.

Pompeo was once a WikiLeaks fan. On July 24, then partisan politician Pompeo gloatingly tweeted: Need further proof that the fix was in from Pres. Obama on down? BUSTED: 19,252 Emails from DNC Leaked by WikiLeaks. Pompeo liked WikiLeaks when he perceived it was publishing material revealing the shortcomings of his political rivals. It was only when our publications touched Pompeos rice bowl that WikiLeaks became his target. Pompeo subsequently deleted the tweet, but he is learning that in the digital age, the truth is hard to hide. You dont get to love the truth one day and seek its suppression and the incarceration of its publisher the next.

As a candidate, Trump tweeted: Very little pick-up by dishonest media of incredible information provided by WikiLeaks. The president mentioned WikiLeaks 164 times during the last month of the election and gushed: I love WikiLeaks.

All democratic governments are managed by imperfect human beings. And autocracies are much worse the benign dictator is a myth. These human beings, democratic and autocratic alike, make mistakes and commit crimes, and often serve themselves rather than their countries. They are the focus of WikiLeaks publications.

The Pompeo doctrine articulated in his speech ensnares all serious news and investigative human rights organizations, from ProPublica to Amnesty International to Human Rights Watch. The logic that WikiLeaks, or these organizations, are somehow intelligence agencies would be as absurd as the suggestion that the CIA is a media outlet. Both journalists and intelligence agencies cultivate and protect sources, collect information and write reports, but the similarities end there. The world cannot afford, and the Constitution does not permit, a muzzle placed on the work that transparency organizations do to inform the American and global public.

Fundamental issues of free speech and freedom of the press, and of the interplay between liberty and security, date to the Republics founding. Those who believe in persecution and suppression of the truth to achieve their parochial ends are inevitably forgotten by history. In a fair fight, as John Milton observed, the truth always wins.

Julian Assange: Democrats ‘Doomed’ Over Russia Issue

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said Saturday that"'we didnt lose, Russia won' narrative" has "doomed" the Democrats and called on core supporters to "start a new party since the party elite shows no signs that they will give up power."

"Without the 'we didn't lose, Russia won' narrative, the party's elite and those who exist under its patronage would be purged for being electorally incompetent and ideologically passe," Assange said in a statement released via his Twitter account.

The post was first reported by The Washington Examiner.

Last July, WikiLeaks published the emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's campaign during the presidential election.

Clinton has repeatedly attributed her loss to such hacks, as well as Russian meddling during the campaign.

In January, the nation's intelligence community concluded that WikiLeaks and other operatives were being used by Russian spy agencies"to release U.S. victim data obtained in cyberoperations publicly" to help tilt the election in favor of President Donald Trump, the Examiner reports.

Assange has denied any WikiLeaks collusion with Moscow on the DNC emails.

While Assange also cites dwindling Democratic interest in the issues facing whites and men by "conspicuously" promoting "racial and sexual-identity politics" he zeroes in on Russia, the subject of several federal and congressional investigations.

"The Trump-Russia collusion narrative is a political dead end," he said. "Democratic senators who have seen the classified intelligence are forced to admit that there is no evidence of collusion.

"Without collusion, we are left with the Democratic establishment blaming the public for not liking the truth about what Hillary Clinton said to Goldman Sachs and blaming their own base for not liking what they said in their own emails about about fixing the DNC primaries."

The party cannot address real issues facing Americans, Assange said, because "the Russian collusion narrative has consumed all its energy, and it is entangled with many of the same groups behind Trump's policies."

Julian Assange: Democratic Party is doomed – Salon

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange had strong words for the Democratic Party on Sunday, blaming party leaders for forcing the politics of centrism on their base. Thats why the Democrats are doomed, he wrote in a TwitLonger post.

The Democratic establishment has vortexed the partys narrative energy into hysteria about Russia (a state with a lower GDP than South Korea). It is starkly obvious that were it not for this hysteria insurgent narratives of the type promoted by Bernie Sanders would rapidly dominate the partys base and its relationship with the public. Without the, We didnt lose Russia won narrative the partys elite and those who exist under its patronage would be purged for being electorally incompetent and ideologically pass. The collapse of the Democratic vote over the last eight years is at every level, city, state, Congressional and presidential.

Assange may have a point, insofaras the Russia narrative has consumed much of the media landscape that it may have eclipsed Democrats efforts to regain the roughly 1,000 legislative seats it has lost over the past nine years.

Democrats have also lost all four of the congressional special elections since President Donald Trump took office, and the predicted surge in Democratic turnout has failed to materialize. As SalonsAndrew OHehir pointed out, the reason the races were close is because Republicans had an even worseturnout.

Without collusion, we are left with the Democratic establishment blaming the public for being repelled by the words of Hillary Clinton and the Democratic party establishment, Assange wrote.

Theres an obvious comeback here: Assange and WikiLeaks likely played a role in the election outcome by leaking hacked Democratic Party emails that were presumably provided by Russian intelligence, either directly or through an intermediary. But the questions Assange poses are nonetheless valid.

Is it a problem that the public discovered what Hillary Clinton said to Goldman Sachs and what party elites said about fixing the DNC primaries against Bernie Sanders? Assange wrote. A party elite that maintains that it is the crime of the century for the public and their membership to discover how they behave and what they believe invites scorn.

Assange finished by calling for the formation of a new party. The Democratic base should move to start a new party since the party elite shows no signs that they will give up power.

Pamela Anderson Is Using Vegan Food to Help Free Boyfriend Julian Assange – Eater

This one is a doozy, and kind of reads like Mad Libs: 2017 Edition, so let me break it down for you:

Got all that? Anderson made the appeal in an announcement on her blog this week, along with multiple photos of her posing with her golden retriever. Yes, all of this is true.

If youve ever wanted to sip a whisky shot with a salt-cured human toe floating in it, the Downtown Hotel in Canadas Dawson City is a destination to mark on your map.

The bar made headlines this week when the toe it serves (which is reused from shot to shot, presumably because sourcing new toes for each drink sold would be a Sweeney-Todd-esque logistical nightmare) was stolen. This story has a happy ending, though the anonymous thief returned the appendage a few days later, with apologies.

Way back in 2013, ER heartthrob and casino-heist-savant George Clooney made the announcement that he and his buddies had created their own brand of tequila. The response from many (this author included) was who the hell wants to buy tequila from George Clooney?. This week we got the answer, which was a lot of people like $1 billion worth of them. Business is hard.

Before Mario Batali was a household name, he was just another kid behind the counter of a New Jersey sandwich shop. This week on The Tonight Show, the mega-chef revealed that he still goes back to Stuff Yer Face in New Brunswick, NJ, at least once a year for a stromboli sandwich. Its good to remember where you started.

How are you going to make a Sno Ball thats not ball-shaped? Its madness.

B.C.’s Pamela Anderson to launch vegan restaurant in France to … – Straight.com (blog)

While British Columbian star Pamela Anderson is enjoying some screentime thanks to her cameo in the movie version of Baywatch, she's also using her star power to help out two causes she's passionate about.

Anderson, who rose to international fame on the TV version of Baywatch, will launch a pop-up vegan restaurant in southern France.

Starting on July 4, Le Table du March will run for 50 nights in Saint-Tropez.

Anderson is collaborating with chef Christophe Leroy, organizer of Nuit Blanche. The menu consists of prix fixe options as well as sharing plates such as Pissaladire, risotto with asparagus, tomato tartare with goji berries, and a vegan burger.

On June 17, she wrote on her foundation's website that she is also doing so as a means to invite political leaders to help free Australian computer programmer and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. She has invited French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Trogneux to the restaurant to discuss asylum for Assange.

Assange has lived at the Ecuardorian Embassy in London for over four years after Swedish prosecutors issued a warrant for him due to sexual-assault allegations made by two WikiLeaks volunteers.

She went to say that finds Assange sexy because "surely the sexiest qualities in a man are bravery and courage. Sexiness in a man is showing strength. Having convictions and having the courage to stand by them."

She added that he is "standing up for the oppressed, for the weak, for the forgotten". That's something that Anderson herself has been doing with her devotion to animal-welfare activism and awareness efforts, which is reflected in the vegan pop-up restaurant.

A vegan cookbook entitled C'est Bizarre will follow.

Anderson was born in Ladysmith, B.C., and grew up in Comox, B.C.
