Julian Assange: I tried to get Donald Trump Jr. to publish …

WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange claimed he tried to persuade Donald Trump Jr. into publishing his email correspondence with British publicist Rob Goldstonebefore the eldest Trump son tweeted them out himself Tuesday morning.

Contacted Trump Jr this morning on why he should publish his emails (i.e with us). Two hours later, does it himself, Mr. Assange tweeted to his 263,000 followers Tuesday afternoon, The Hill first reported.

I argued that his enemies have it so why not the public? he wrote in a series of subsequent tweets. His enemies will just milk isolated phrases for weeks or months with their own context, spin and according to their own strategic timetable. Better to be transparent and have the full context but would have been safer for us to publish it anonymously sourced. By publishing it himself it is easier to submit as evidence.

The younger Mr. Trump on Tuesday released the entire email chainbetween himself and Mr. Goldstone that arranged a meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, who, according to Mr. Goldstone, offered very high level and sensitive information about Hillary Clinton as part of the Russian governments support for Donald Trumps presidential campaign.

Trump Jr. said nothing came of the meeting, but the revelation ramped up allegations from Democratic lawmakers that associates of President Trump may have colluded with the Russian government to influence the U.S. election.

President Trump came to his eldest sons defense later Tuesday, saying he is a high-quality and transparent person.

Julian Assange says he tried to publish Trump Jr. emails

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Julian Assange says he tried to get Donald Trump Jr. to let him publish his bombshell emails before they were shared for the world to see.

Contacted Trump Jr this morning on why he should publish his emails (i.e. with us). Two hours later, does it himself, the WikiLeaks founder said on Twitter Tuesday.

Assange, who has stayed at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for years to avoid extradition, published documents hacked from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta on his site last year.

The Russian government, looking to benefit President Trump, was behind the hacks, according to the U.S. intelligence community.

Timeline: How the Trump-Russia meeting happened and how it leaked

Assange has repeatedly denied that his source was the Kremlin or any other state actor.

It was not immediately clear why the website founder, a native Australian, would contact Trump Jr. about the emails, which show a publicist saying that a Moscow real estate developer had received damaging information about Clinton from the Russian government.

The messages were first reported by The New York Times, which published them on their own site shortly after the Presidents son sent them out.

Would have been safer for us to publish it anonymously sourced, Assange said on Twitter, after saying it was better to be transparent.

All the times Trump and associates denied collusion with Russia

I argued that his enemies have it--so why not the public? he recounted of his conversation with Trump Jr.

The release of the emails, which contradicted numerous denials by the Trump campaign that there had been any contact with those working for the Russian government, prompted condemnation from across the political spectrum.

Many lawmakers also called for Trump Jr. to testify before investigations into the alleged Russian meddling, currently taking place in the House, Senate, FBI and special prosecutor Robert Muellers office.

My son is a high quality person and I applaud his transparency, Trump himself said in a statement.

What the Fuck Is Julian Assange Doing? – Gizmodo

Attempting to figure out whats going on in Julian Assanges head is a daily struggle. After moving into the Ecuadorean embassy in London seven years ago to avoid extradition to Sweden on since-dropped sexual assault allegations, the 46-year-old has remained holed up there with Twitter as his main means of communication. From the embassys confines, hes kept himself busy leaking a slew of hacked DNC emails,CIA exploits, and generally inserting himself into world events in which he plays no part. Now, it looks like Assange is doubling down on his attempt to join the Trump clan.

A few hours after Donald Trump Jr. tweeted out an absurdly incriminating email chain in an apparent attempt to pre-empt a New York Times story about those emails, Assange tweeted this:

Todays humble brag follows a slightly more veiled attempt at currying favor with the Trump administration that occurred earlier in the week. On Sunday, the WikiLeaks Twitter account replied to a Trump tweet and suggested the president name Julian Assange as head of an impenetrable Cyber Security unit the president claimed he discussed forming with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Aside from the fact that Assange is not an American citizen, this idea seems pretty ludicrous in light of the fact that Trumps Justice Department is reportedly considering bringing criminal charges against Assange and WikiLeaks for releasing classified government information. Even still, WikiLeaksand probably Assange himself, whos often the operator of the accounttweeted:

This is also really weird.

But lets get back to todays tweet. On one hand, Assange seems to be implying that he knew about the Times scoop well before the paper published its very damning story. On the other hand, Sundays tweet implies that Assange is begging Trump Jr. to bring him and, presumably, WikiLeaks into the presidents inner sanctum, a disgustingly powerful collection of President Trumps allies and confidants. What an odd thing for Assange, a self-described information activist who claims he has dedicated his life to exposing the truth, to do. What strange allies hed find in Donald Trump and his closest aides, a group of people who simply cant stop lying about issues central to the worlds most prominent democracy. What a weird coda for Assanges already controversial career.

Then again, if youve paid much attention to Assange and his curious character in recent years, these attempts to cozy up to Trump make total sense. Assange, you might say, loves him some anarchy. And as Risk, the new documentary about WikiLeaks and its founder, paints in painful detail, Assange is obsessed with power. He wants to be close to those who have it, and he wants to stockpile it for himself, however hes able to do that. Theres a scene in Risk that shows Assange considering how his organization could influence the 2016 presidential election. It appears that the then-accused rapist (the charges were subsequently dropped) was literally looking for ways to tamper with the democratic process, not necessarily because he favored one candidate over the other but because he could. Eventually, by publishing a slew of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 presidential campaign, Assange did.

Where does one go from there? According to Assanges recent behavior, you try to advise the leaders who you helped tilt the election towards. It remains unclear whether the leaked DNC emails that WikiLeaks released came from the Russian government. Assange insists they didnt, although he also refuses to reveal his sources.

At this point in time, though, its safe to assume that this Assange character isnt exactly trustworthy. Is he a sociopath? Thats for the psychologists to decide. Is he a lackey for seemingly authoritarian regimes? Thats for history to determine. Is he a twerp? He sure is.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange: I told Donald Trump Jr. to release emails – USA TODAY

Donald Trump Jr. released emails suggesting 'incriminating information" about his father's Democratic campaign rival, Hillary Clinton. USA TODAY

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Tuesday claimed that Donald Trump Jr. releasing his own emails was the result of a conversation they had.

Assange said on Twitter that he contacted Trump Jr. to make the case that he should release theemails that led up to the president's oldest son meeting with a Russian lawyer, and that it should be done via WikiLeaks.

Two hours later, Trump Jr. did it himself, Assange said.

In a reply to one of his Twitter followers, Assange said he told Trump Jr. that his "enemies" had the documents and would "milk isolated phrases for weeks or months" that would have their own "context" or "spin."

It was better to be transparent, Assangesaid.

Still, Assange disagreed with how Trump Jr. revealed the emails. He said it would have been "safer" for the oldest son of President Trump to publish the emails with WikiLeaks so it would have an "anonymous source."

"By publishing it himself it is easier to submit as evidence," Assange said.

He ended his statement by saying that "even the innocent need Wikileaks."

Eli Lake: Now Julian Assange cares about privacy? – TwinCities.com-Pioneer Press

Julian Assange has had it with CNN. Since July 4, the founder of WikiLeaks has tweeted multiple times in support of Donald Trumps latest battle with the media: Gif-Gate.

Like many controversies in Washington these days, this one involves a tweet. Last week Trump tweeted a gif that portrayed him putting fake wrestling moves on a body with the CNN logo for its head.

Assanges interest in this is all about CNNs response. On July 5, the networks master internet sleuth, Andrew Kaczynski, tracked down the Reddit user who came up with the Trump-CNN wrestling video. But because the maker apologized on the forum, CNN decided not to name him. That said, CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.

That last sentence has inspired some pearl clutching among Trumps supporters. The alt-right has accused CNN of blackmailing some poor Reddit user who just likes trolling the media.

Now it should go without saying that this is a very thin reed. According to CNN, the Reddit user voluntarily apologized for the gif and other memes that were racist and anti-Semitic. Also, CNN never threatened to disclose reams of private information on the Reddit user, just his name. But such is the nature of these social media kerfuffles in the age of Trump. Both sides try to maximize grievance. CNN accuses the president of inciting violence. Trumps supporters accuse CNN of mafia tactics.

Whats interesting here is how Assange responded. When Trump goes low CNN goes lower: threatens to dox artist behind CNN head video if he makes fun of them again, he tweeted, referring to the online tactic of posting someones personal details on the web. For two days, Assange continued along these lines, speculating that CNN may have even violated the law in censoring this artist.

Doxxing, as its known, usually applies to an online persona who wishes to remain anonymous. But the concept is closely related to the kind of thing Assange himself has been doing since he founded WikiLeaks, publishing the private communications of public figures.

Methinks the WikiLeaker doth protest too much. After all, Assanges organization posted the personal emails of John Podesta, Neera Tanden and other Democrats. And while some of those emails had legitimate news value, most of them didnt. Did the public really have a right to know Podestas risotto recipe?

The hacked emails WikiLeaks disclosed last year are different from the State Department cables provided to the organization by Chelsea Manning. While some of those cables endangered U.S. government sources in dangerous places, government documents in our republic belong to the people. The same cannot be said for the personal emails of Democratic operatives, who are exercising their right to political participation.

Assange is hardly alone as a participant in this new threat to online privacy. I wrote articles based on the hacked emails WikiLeaks published, as have many other journalists. Anonymous, the online hacker group, has doxxed people before as well. But Assange, as an advocate for radical transparency, has done much to usher in this new era.

And this new era should trouble us. In the 20th century, the state was the greatest threat to the individuals privacy. But in the internet era, where so much of our lives is online, this threat has been democratized. Individuals today pose a threat to privacy in a way we used to think was the sole province of the NSA and FBI. At any moment, an email, text or browsing history could be hacked and posted on the web for all to see. In an instant, our private lives can become public.

More recently, foreign governments have become threats to our privacy. Four U.S. intelligence agencies assess that Russia orchestrated a campaign to advantage Trump in the election through hacking and leaking the emails of leading Democrats. The Russians used this tactic in 2014 in combination with their special forces, when RT, the Kremlin-funded network, would post audio recordings of U.S. diplomats.

We are already starting to see imitators. Wall Street Journal reporter Jay Solomon lost his job because emails and texts were leaked to the Associated Press that made it appear that he sought a business relationship with one of his sources. Solomon has said he never entered into such a relationship. On the eve of the Gulf crisis over Qatar, the Emirati ambassador to Washington had his Hotmail account hacked and his emails posted on the web.

None of this is to say that there is not news value to some of these disclosures. Its always a balance. The problem is that people like Assange never cared about this balance until now. For years he believed the publics right to know outweighed the privacy rights of his victims. Today he argues the privacy of an online troll outweighs the publics right to know who exactly is making the memes the president tweets in his war against CNN.

What a babe!

Pamela Anderson looked gorgeous in a Bridget Bardot-inspired ensemble on Thursday while paying a visit to her dear friend WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Thursday.

The 50-year-old supermodel showcased her bombshell curves in a figure-hugging red, plaid dress that hit just above her knees. Pamela made sure to put her best assets on display in the classy, yet sexy, ensemble -- a sweetheart neckline showed off her cleavage while a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps elongated her toned stems.

SHOW CAPTION

She pulled back her signature blonde locks into a low bun while barely wearing any makeup. Anderson flashed smile with her retro sunnies hiding most of her face as she walked into the Ecuadorian Embassy.

The former "Baywatch" star has been dodging rumors about her romantic relationship with Assange for the past couple of months, but her most recent visit has raised many eyebrows. The interaction comes just days after she spent time with French footballer Adil Rami. She's remained silent on whether she is seeing Rami romantically, as well.

When Pamela isn't making headlines for her romantic life, she's been turning heads for her fashion. The blonde beauty has stepped out in one show-stopping look after another, and she shows no signs of slowing down!

In particular, Anderson stole the show in several elegant looks at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival back in May. She looked nearly unrecognizable at the "120 Beats Per Minute" premiere in an incredibly unexpected, demure look. Check out the slideshow above for photos of her stylish year!

The Baywatch actress looked glamorous as she visited the Wikileaks founder today

PAMELA Anderson was spotted dropping off a vegan lunch to her pal Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy today just days after she enjoyed a romantic dinner date with French football star Adil Rami.

Baywatch star Pammy whose close friendship with Wikileaks founder Assange has set tongues wagging looked glamorous in a classy red dress and sunglasses outside the embassy in West London today.

She was clutching a black handbag and a paper bag containing a tasty vegan lunch for Assange, who is still holed up in the embassy despite Sweden dropping rape charges against him.

Assange has been living in the Ecuadorian Embassy for almost five years following allegations of sexual assault, costing Brit taxpayers millions in policing costs around the building.

It comes two weeks after the 49-year-old actress wrote a cringe-worthy online love letter to sexy Assange calling for world leaders to help set him free.

But she has also been seen enjoying a dinner date with 31-year-old Sevilla and France ace Adil Rami, sparking rumours the pair could be an item.

The blonde star smiled at photographers as she arrived at the embassy today sporting black sunglasses and high heels.

Animal rights activist Pamela opened her own pop-up vegan restaurant La Table du March in France this week.

Pamela visitedWikiLeaks founder Julian Assange ten times in recent months at the Ecuadorian embassy in London sparking speculation the pair could be romantically involved.

Asource observed that Pammieseems to be wearing sexier outfits every time she visits.

The odd couple were introduced by Vivienne Westwood in August 2014 when Pam sought advice from him about her new animal rights charity.

In an interview with Australian hosts Kyle and Jackie O she pretty much confirmed their relationship saying things happen for sure.

Julian also spoke to the show about Pamela, but refused to confirm the romance rumours.

He said: Shes an attractive person with an attractive personality.

Shes no idiot at all! Psychologically, shes very savvy.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the platinum blonde Canadian-born actress once again remained coy on whether she was in a physical relationship with Assange.

She said: Julian is trying to free the world by educating it. It is a romantic struggle I love him for this.

I understand that our affair and the curiosity surrounding that might bring some attention to his situation.

Thats fine, but Id rather not go into private details. Lets just say everyone deserves love.

After pursuing rape allegations for seven years, Swedens director of public prosecutions Marianne Ny decided to drop the case in May because there was no possibility of arresting him in the foreseeable future.

The prosecutor filed a request to the Stockholm District Court to revoke the arrest warrant.

But she said: "If [Assange] at a later date, makes himself available, I will be able to decide to resume the investigation immediately."

Shortly after the announcement Assange posted a picture of himself smiling on Twitter.

But theMet Police were quick to warn Assange: Well still arrest you.

Scotland Yard said they were obliged to execute an arrest warrant of Assange, which remains outstanding from when he failed to attend Westminster Court on June 29 2012.

Donald Trump Jr., Julian Assange Blast CNN Deal With Redditor Behind Donald Trump’s NetworkBashing GIF – Deadline

CNN went with something remarkablehappened in its Wednesday morning reporting on its KFile team tracking down the Reddit user who originated the GIF President Donald Trump used to bash the cable news network on Twitter.

CNN found the Reddit user who created the GIF of Donald Trumpwhere he punches CNN, New Days Alisyn Camerota reported on the networks New Day. And then, here comes the remarkable part: he apologized for having done this, she beamed.

By remarkable, she meant CNNs I-team agreed not to include the identity of HanA**holeSolo in its report about tracking him down, but said it reserves the right to identify him in future reports, should Mr. A**holeSolo ever repeat his ugly behavior on social media.

Not everyone was so pleased as Camerota with the outcome. Donald Trump Jr. and Julian Assange are among those calling it blackmail, extortion, etc., after #CNNBlackmail trended Tuesday night on Twitter:

On Monday, the Redditor who had boasted he originated the CNN-bashing GIF suddenly apologized for same after learning CNN knew who he was.

CNNs Andrew Kaczynski reported Tuesday night HanA**holeSolo pleaded with the network not to reveal his identity, saying he is scared for his personal safety, and because, he said, it would embarrass him to be outed as the person behind the GIF, as well as his various anti-Semitic and racist Reddit rants.

HanA**holeSolo initially boasted he originated the GIF behind Trumps tweet in which Trump is seen pounding on the head of a man whose face has been swapped for the CNN logo. He first shared the GIF last Wednesday; CNN reported it found no earlier instance of the GIF that subsequently was edited to add sound before being tweeted by Trump on Sunday.

After Trumps tweet, HanA**holeSolo took a victory lap, via Reddit: Holy s!! I wake up and have my morning coffee and who retweets my spost but the MAGA EMPORER himself!!! I am honored!!

CNNs KFile identified the man, using information he posted on Reddit and Facebook, and reached out to him on Monday. On Tuesday, he posted a lengthy apology on the subreddit /The_Donald, in which he said he admires and respects the press and all of mankind, and deleted his other offensive posts. Moderators of /The_Donald subreddit took down his apology.

Donald Jr. turns to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange as an expert in the Trumps’ war on CNN – Daily Kos

Julian Assange

Somehow, Donald Trump Jr. and Julian Assange are united in outrage at CNN over the video Donald Trump tweeted of himself beating a figure with the CNN logo in place of a head. (I know. I cant believe I just typed that, either.)

The back story is as twisted as youd expect. After Trump the father tweeted aGIF of himself in his days as an occasional WWE character tackling and beating a wrestler with the CNN logo edited onto his face, CNNfound the Reddit userwho initially created the image, got an apology from him, and said they wouldnt publish his name due to his remorse, but that CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change. The same Reddit user, by the way, previously posted pictures of CNN staff with Stars of David next to their heads and the text Something strange about CNN...cant quite put my finger on it.So its not like hes just apologizing for the Trump wrestling thing.

To Trumpland, its a total outrage that if the same guy returns to making violent and/or anti-Semitic memes about CNN, the network will release his identity. Hashtag CNNBlackmail.WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange dove right in with the claim that thiswas a crime. Which Uday Trump quickly cited:

Not that this should be a surprise, given that the Trumps havea history of pointing to Assange's expert opinion. But Uday wasnt done.

A Trump, spreading misinformation? Surely not!

As a reminder in all of this, were talking about a network that went out and specifically hired Trump-supporting commentators during the Republican primaries, then hired Trumps former campaign manager while he was still collecting money from the Trump campaign. But Trump demands 100% fealtyand hes looking to make an example of one of the biggest, blandest news outlets he can to frighten the rest of the media into line while telling his supporters to believe that anything they dont want to hear is fake news.
