Fresh photos in a press release for state media show the tyrant clutching binoculars surrounded by a group of Army officials as he watches a test-firing of a new anti-aircraft weapons system.

The Government mouthpiece, the KCNA, did not reveal details of the launch but said it was organised by the Academy of National Defence Science an agency believed to be developing nuclear weapons.

A KCNA spokesman said: Kim Jong-un watched the test of a new type of anti-aircraft guided weapon system organised by the Academy of National Defence Science.

KCNA statement

The new test comes almost a week after nuke-obsessed Kim latest ballistic missile test.

US President Donald Trump has vowed to increase sanctions against the belligerent North.

The head of the US Defence Intelligence Agency, Vincent Stewart, said Kim is on an inevitable path to obtaining a nuclear missile if his regime is left unchecked.

But he added it may take several years for this to be a possibility.
