Former Texas congressman and presidential hopeful Ron Paul has endorsed Rep. Ralph Hall in his Republican primary runoff against John Ratcliffe.

Paul, an influential libertarian leader, is known for his opposition to increased government spending, advocacy for privacy rights and distrust of the Federal Reserve and federal monetary policy. He served about 23 years in the House in three stints, representing districts along the Gulf Coast and around Houston.

Dr. Paul and I have fought side by side for freedom and limited government, and Im proud to receive his endorsement, Hall said in a written statement Tuesday.

Davis video contends Abbott caters to donors

Wendy Davis gubernatorial campaign is focusing on opponent Greg Abbotts role as an overseer of the scandal-marred Texas cancer-research agency in a new, strongly worded line of attack launched in an online video Tuesday.

Millions of dollars earmarked for cancer research went to Abbotts political donors. Abbott, the Republican attorney general, was named in the law creating the agency as a member of the oversight board. But he didnt attend any of the meetings, instead sending an aide, who had a checkered attendance record.

The video launched by Davis, the Democratic nominee for governor, accuses Abbott of being a political insider more concerned about his donors than regular Texans. Hes another insider just not working for you, the video warns.

Abbott has defended his decision not to attend board meetings as an effort to avoid conflicts of interest.
