San Diego's classiest newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), is back.

After some time away cultivating his moustsache (we presume), Ferrell returns as the narcissitic newsreader to continue the legend. The jokes can seem a bit familiar in tone, but Farrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carelland David Koechner make a welcome return as the 1970s' newsies from San Diego embrace the glorious dawn of the 1980s in New York City.

So is this sequel "kind of a big deal"? Yep.

Here are the five ways Ron and his crew take a bite out of the Big Apple:

PHOTOS: More new movies in theatres right now

1. GNN: When the News Got Awesome:After losing his job, Ron gets an offer from the newly formed GNN, a cable network that has the audacity to air news 24/7. Ron just needs to get the band back togethereven if one of them is presumed dead. Once reunited, the guys go about rethinking, or dethinking, what makes news and infotainment is born. Ratings go through the roof.

2. Ron Is Still Ron: Whether he's putting his foot in his mouth at a family dinner or just being inappropriate at work, Ron shows that as the times change he can still find a way to be completely out of step with them.

3. The Voice of Reason: No, we don't mean Mr. Burgundy; we're talking Bill Curtis, the former CBS anchor and scary-voiced narrator of various A&E shows like Cold Case Files. Despite the fact that he's a real journalist and a two-time Peabody Award winner, Curtis returns to narrate the film...and the results may shock you! (He's good, that's all.)
