Police called to right-wing broadcaster Iain Dale’s house after neighbours thought he was having a rave – Hull Live

Good Morning Britain hosts were left shocked this morning as right-wing broadcaster Iain Dale revealed how police were called to his house after neighbours thought he was having a rave.

But, it turns out the 58-year-old former Conservative MP candidate was just listening to 'very loud' trance music.

He made the revelation on the breakfast show, as he joined former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith and the Prime Minister's dad Stanley Johnson to discuss issues such as whether people should get paid for snitching on Covid rule breakers.

Mr Dale shocked hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard, as he explained: "In mid-December I had a policeman turn up at my door because my neighbours had snitched on me, can you believe?

"They thought I was having a rave, because - you won't believe this Kate - I was playing trance music very loudly.

"I mean, that's the only way to play trance music. Ben will know this from his night in Ibiza."

A shocked Kate replied: "I mean, I can't believe you've got to this at the end of our time. There's so many questions to ask about what you were up to."

While Ben asked: "Is this why Kent went into Tier 4 so suddenly - because of a rave?"

Following his appearance on the show, Mr Dale tweeted: "OK, here's the story from Good Morning Britain. Police knock at my door in mid Dec; 'We've had reports you're having a party, Sir.'

"Neighbours had reported me. I wasn't. I was playing Gareth Emery trance music very loudly, and they could hear it 50-100 yards away."

He later added: "The thing is, we only have three neighbours, but we don't know which one it was. So now we have to hate all three."

A number of social media users reacted to Mr Dale's revelation on Twitter - with some complimenting his taste in music, and others criticising him for playing it too loud.
