Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions

Since September, 2021 the United States has shared 114,660 safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine doses with the people of Seychelles free of cost. This includes 114,660 Pfizer doses. Of the 114,660 vaccine doses, 100% were donated in partnership with COVAX.

President Biden committed the United States to be the worlds arsenal for vaccines, leading an international and coordinated vaccination effort, and announced that the United States will provide 1.2 billion doses of safe, effective vaccines free of cost to meet global needs and save lives now. The United States is working with other governments, global initiatives including COVAX and the African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT), and other partners to get COVID-19 vaccines to where they are needed most.

The U.S. established diplomatic relations with Seychelles in 1976, following Seychelles independence from the United Kingdom. The U.S. and Seychelles enjoy a history of partnership and cooperation based on shared priorities. In the Indian Ocean region, the two countries work together to fight piracy and terrorism, strengthen environmental sustainable development, and promote maritime security.

U.S. foreign assistance to Seychelles has focused on maritime security, including training and equipment for Seychelles coast guard, military, and police. The U.S. also provides exchange programs to and from the U.S. for promising leaders and professionals. Seychelles welcomes local U.S.-led education and training opportunities for all its people and benefits from U.S. public diplomacy programs.

Seychelles is no longer eligible for preferential trade benefits under the African Growth and Opportunity Act, having achieved high income status. In 2016, Seychelles imported $12.4 million in goods from the U.S., and exported $6.4 million in goods to the U.S.
