They're feeling the need the need for speed (and a whole lot of money).

It's just the second film to break the $US1 billion mark atthe worldwide box office since the pandemic began.

Inits fifth week of release, Top Gun: Maverickhas earned slightly more than half of its takings in the United States.

The film is the biggest ever for Tom Cruise, coming 36 years after the original Top Gun film was released.
