This clearly indicates that Disney is anticipating a return to sailing sooner rather than later. Currently, the Disney fleet the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Magic, and the Disney Wonder have 26 scheduled sailings in April 2021.

Although the CDC lifted its oft-extended No-Sail Order on October 31, 2020, Disney Cruise Line officials have opted to cancel all sailings through March 2021. This is, in all likelihood, because they simply dont believe their fleet of cruise ships will have obtained their conditional sailing certificates by that point.

Every ship must receive its own certificate after a rigorous process, which includes test sailings and the implementation of numerous health and safety protocols such as required face masks for Guests age 2 and over and requisite COVID-19 screening before being able to set sail with passengers onboard.

It is quite likely that Disney Cruise Line will opt to first resume sailing to Castaway Cay, rather than other international destinations. There are a number of benefits to this, such as the fact that they have full control over the health and safety measures that are being taken on the island property.

When the CDCs sailing framework was released, one of the suggestions from would-be cruise passengers was that they would feel safest returning to cruise operators private islands first Disney, a company that prides itself on the health and safety measures that have been taken at its theme park properties, may very well follow this course of action.

The fact that they are resuming the hiring process at Castaway Cay supports this idea. Disney has also begun sending ships back to Port Canaveral, which is one of the ports that most frequently offers Bahamian departures for the cruise line the Disney Dream and the Disney Wonder have both returned to Florida, with the Wonder actually making port at Castaway Cay recently.

It is, however, important to note that Disney Cruise Line has not yet made an official statement regarding when or where sailings will resume.
