Henry De Bromhead's Poker Party has snuck in at the bottom of the weights for the 2022 Grand National and the former Kerry National winner could be a lively each-way contender for the April 9 showpiece at Aintree...

Age: 10

Trainer: Henry De Bromhead

Chase Runs:14

Chase Wins:3

Notable Race Wins: 2019 Kerry National

A regular in top notch staying handicap chases over the last couple of years, Henry De Bromhead's Poker Party landed his first big pot in the 2019 Kerry National at Listowel, where he beat Ravenhill by a head. He's only been seen on a racecourse five times since, but he has failed to get his head in front, so will be looking to return to winning ways at Aintree.

Fourth in the Paddy Power Chase off a mark of 146 in 2019, he was then off the track for over 600 days following a third placed finish at Leopardstown in March 2020. Down the field on his comeback run in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown, the ten-year-old then had a spin over hurdles before he headed to the Cheltenham Festival last month.

Sent off an unfancied 33/1 shot for the Cross Country Chase, Poker Party was no match for the winner Delta Work and he was pulled up during that event, so he heads to Aintree looking to recapture his form from a few years ago.

Still 7lbs higher in the handicap from his Kerry National winner, Poker Party looks to face a huge task to land any sort of blow in the Merseyside showpiece, despite having a featherweight on his back.
