On April 28, the largest Latvian wind energy conference WindWorks organised by the Latvian Wind Energy Association, the Danish embassy in Latvia, business technology platform BiSMART, in cooperation with Latvenergo AS will take place. This year, the main theme of the conference will be offshore wind and its potential for electricity generation. The WindWorks conference will be represented by the industry experts from Latvia, Denmark, and other European countries.

"Considering the current rise in electricity prices, 90% of Latvians are worried about further price increases. Therefore, it is especially important to look for low-cost, local electricity generation opportunities. Both onshore and offshore wind energy can provide an environmentally friendly way to generate electricity, promote energy independence and provide electricity at a lower cost. The "WindWorks" conference is an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences with countries that are one step ahead in acquiring offshore wind in order to realize Latvia's potential as effectively as possible, points out the head of the Latvian Wind Energy Association Toms Naburgs.

The conference will discuss topics such as rising electricity prices and the potential of wind energy to stabilize the situation, the European Union's transnational cooperation and the means to achieve climate neutrality, the use of offshore wind for hydrogen and others.

Wind energy experts from Denmark, Estonia, Norway, the Netherlands, and other European countries will share their experiences of the benefits and challenges in developing high-capacity wind farms, the best ways to involve society, as well as the possibilities and solutions for offshore wind energy storage. Local experts and representatives of state authorities will discuss obstacles to the development of the field and overcoming them.
