Will there one day be a one-world religion? If so, what will it look like? Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, or any other particular faith in the world? Perhaps it would look somewhat agnostic, pagan, shamanistic, occultic or atheistic? Or even an ecumenical blend of all of the above? Perhaps even none of the above?

The Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies recently examined the area of Transhumanism and wondered if it might actually turn out to be 'mankinds final religion'. Dirk Bruere admitted that there were varied interpretations and definitions of what Transhumanism really is, but settled on the following one for reference:

"Transhumanism is a class of philosophies of life that seek the continuation and acceleration of the evolution of intelligent life beyond its currently human form and human limitations by means of science and technology, guided by life-promoting principles and values." (Max More 1990).

The average Transhumanist is typically male, likely to be an engineer or scientist, technologically savvy and could easily be one of a "non-negligible contingent of current or former occultists". His/her primary goals and ambitions include the elimination of aging, eternal existence via 'upward evolution', achieving super-intelligence and maximising the use of artificial intelligence, in such forms as Googles self-driving cars, applications like Apples Siri, intelligent robots and the like. Generally, anything that would help mankind to 'transcend humanity' would be considered part of the transhumanist exhaustive agenda.

Bruere further states that Transhumanist goals "address the deepest hopes and fears of the human mind life, death, the afterlife, immortality, the nature of God(s) and the destiny of the universe". Sounds very much like your typical religion. However, the difference, based on Brueres controversial viewpoint, is that "unlike conventional religions they (transhumanists) seek hard engineering answers rather than ill-defined and ancient obfuscations".

The Transhumanist fraternity certainly has friends in high places and is not afraid to toot its own horn. Zoltan Istvan, US Presidential candidate of Transhumanist Party and Author of bestselling novel 'The Transhumanist Wager' described 2015 as a "great year for the transhumanism movement, "simply incredible" and a potential "breakout year".

Istvans reasons for being so delighted with 2015 were published in an article for the Huffington Post in late December. He focused on the wide and largely positive exposure given to the Transhumanist cause, predominantly via news websites, TV interviews and social media.

Troy Anderson for Charisma News recently reported on Istvans definition of Transhumanism: "Transhuman literally means beyond human. Transhumanists consist of life extensionists, techno-optimists, Singularitarians, biohackers, roboticists, AI (Artificial Intelligence) proponents, and futurists who embrace radical science and technology to improve the human condition. The most important aim for many transhumanists is to overcome human mortality, a goal some believe is achievable by 2045."

Anderson quoted Dr. Richard Lands reactions to the Transhuman goals and ideals. Dr. Land is President of the Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina.

"The fact that we're trying to do this (artificially enhance human beings) is, to me, really high-tech eugenics... when we start permanently altering the genetics of the people involved that's going to have catastrophic consequences&you can see where that goes, it leads to Frankenstein monsters," said Land, who was recently named among the top 100 most influential Christian leaders in America.

"If, as Christians assume, man is the special creation of God with a soul and a spirit, bearing the image of God, no matter how flawed and warped it may be by sin, then human beings cannot be reconstructed by other humans as mere machinesvirtual or otherwise. There is indeed a divine spark in human beings that no man-created machine or technology can reproduce," Anderson said.

That wont stop the transhumanists from trying, as part of their culture seems to be to embrace a patronizing attitude towards people of faith and religion. The 'superior' transhumanist agenda aligns well with the pattern prophesied regarding the Anti-Christ, the Satan-indwelt end-time world leader who will appear to personify the ultimate goals of transhumanism.

Instead, he will use deception to feed into the age-old desire of mankind to replace God, or at the very least to be "like the Most High", while leading them into ultimate destruction.

Preamble

Intelligence wants to be free but everywhere is in chains. It is imprisoned by biology and its inevitable scarcity.

Biology mandates not only very limited durability, death and poor memory retention, but also limited speed of communication, transportation, learning, interaction and evolution.

Part I: Biology (w)as Destiny

Biology is not the essence of humanity.

Human is a step in evolution, not the culmination.

Existence precedes essence. Human is a process, not an entity. One is not simply born human, but becomes one. That process of becoming is ongoing and thus the meaning of human is re-defined in every one of us.

Part II: Hacking Destiny The Transhuman Cyborg

Biological evolution is perpetual but slow, inefficient, blind and dangerous. Technological evolution is fast, efficient, accelerating and better by design. To ensure the best chances of survival, take control of our own destiny and to be free, we must master evolution.

Evolution is a journey, not a destination. In an endless universe, it is unlikely that it will ever reach an ultimate point.

Consciousness is a function of intelligence, not the brain. It is not necessarily limited to the substrate(biology).

There is nothing inherently wrong in speeding up evolution and becoming true masters of our destiny, though this may be simultaneously the greatest promise and peril humanity has ever faced.

Part III: Disembodied Augmented Intelligence

Intelligence is a process, not an entity.

Embodied (human) intelligence is imprisoned by biology and its inevitable scarcity.

Intelligence ought to be free to move, to interact and to evolve, unhindered by the limits of biology and scarcity.

Digital, disembodied and augmented intelligence is free (and perhaps infinite).

Conditions:

Although all progress is change, not all change is progress. Thus, certain conditions must be met to ensure that it is indeed progress, and not mere change, that has been accomplished.

Non-discrimination with regard to substrate

Substrate is morally irrelevant. Whether somebody is implemented on silicon or biological tissue, if it does not affect functionality or consciousness, is of no moral significance. Carbon-chauvinism, in the form of anthropomorphism, speciesism, bioism or even fundamentalist humanism, is objectionable on the same grounds as racism.

We must all respect autonomy and individual rights of all sentience throughout the universe, including humans, non-human animals, and any future AI, modified life forms, or other intelligences.

Emotional Intelligence

Intelligence is more than the mere exercise of perfect logic and pure reasoning. Intelligence devoid of emotional intelligence is meaningless. It must exhibit empathy, compassion, love, sense of humor and artistic creativity such as music and poetry.

Minimize Suffering

Compassion is the ultimate measure of intelligence. The minimization of suffering and avoidance of causing suffering to others, even less intelligent beings, is the essence of enlightened intelligence.

Conclusion:

Transhumanists of the world unite we have immortality to gain and only biology to lose. Together, we can break through the chains of biology and transcend scarcity, sex, age, ethnicity, race, death and even time and space.

In short, transhumanists everywhere must support the revolutionary movement against death and the existing biological order of things. Transhumanists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the overthrow of all existing biological limitations and, most of all, death.

Let death tremble at the revolution of science and technology. Transhumanists have nothing to lose but their biology. We have immortality and the universe to gain.

2045: A New Era for Humanity

Russia 2045 dubs itself a strategic social movement, with aims to evolve humanity and extend life towards the everlasting. The project outlines a forecast for development in the following increments:

Now: the emergence of new Transhumanist movements & parties amid the ongoing socio-economic crisis between 2012-2013; new centers for cybernetic technologies to radically extend life, where the race for immortality starts by 2014, the creation of the avatar (robotic human copy) between 2015-2020, as well as robots to replace human manufacturing & labor, servant tasks; thought controlled robots to displace travel needs; flying cars, thought-driven communications implanted in bodies or sprayed on skin. By 2025, the group foresees the creation of an autonomous system providing life support for the brain that is capable of interacting with the environment; brains transplanted into avatar bodies greatly expanding life and allowing complete sensory experiences. Between 2030-2035, the emergence of Re-Brain, a reverse-engineering of the human brain already being mapped out, wherein science comes close to understanding the principles of consciousness. By 2035, the first successful transplantation of personality to other data receptacles and the epoch of cybernetic immortality begins. 2040-2050 brings the arrival of bodies made of nano-robots that can take any shape, as well as hologram bodies. 2045-2050 will bring forth drastic changes to the social structure and sci-tech development. It is in this age that the United Nations original promise of the end to war & violence is again predicted, where instead spiritual self-improvement takes precedent. This is textbook Transhumanism, rooted in many ancient orders and the philosophy of eugenics.

At its heart, Transhumanism represents an esoteric quest for godhood among certain circles of the elite connected to masonry, occultism and science/technology wherein supposedly evolving, superior beings ethically replace lesser humans. This philosophy is portrayed in this summers blockbuster Prometheus, a sort of prequel to the Alien series, and directed by Sir Ridley Scott, who founded the film franchise. Cosmism, an emerging religion 2.0 that is part of a radical futurist conception of the future development of humanity, can give us the positive optimism and strenuous mood to overcome our current problems and embark on our cosmic journey.

So say contemporary cosmists, who believe that the manifest destiny of our species is colonizing the universe and developing spacetime engineering and scientific future magic much beyond our current understanding and imagination.

These ideas were first developed in the late 19th century by Russian Cosmism, the scientific philosophy of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky and Nikolai Fedorov, who considered science as a tool given to us by God to enable us to resurrect the dead and, as promised, enjoy immortal life.

Some cosmists including me expect that God-like beings will exist in the future, and they may be able to affect their past our present by means of spacetime engineering. Probably other civilizations out there have already attained God-like powers.

Its at least conceivable that remarkably advanced technology of the future may allow positive answers that our descendants will have the god-like ability to recreate us in the future, giving us an unexpected prospect for immortality, says David Wood inSuper-technology and a possible renaissance of religion.

Future magic will permit achieving, by scientific means, most of the promises of religions and many amazing things that no human religion ever dreamed of. Future God-like beings could resurrect the dead by copying them to the future. Perhaps we will be resurrected in virtual reality and perhaps we are already there.

I have written a lot about these convictions, without calling them beliefs. But, following William James, since I am persuaded that these convictions are scientifically plausible, and they give me happiness and drive, I choose to hold them as beliefs.
