Audit the Fed: By Ron Paul, Supported By Mitt Romney and Harry Reid On The Fence: Success Council Slams Harry Reid …
Posted: October 12, 2012 at 11:11 pm
Success Council Exposes Harry Reid as a Flip-Flopper To Audit the Fed. Even Mitt Romney supports HR 459, the Bill To Audit the Fed, Introduced by Ron Paul. Meanwhile, Harry Reid, Who Has Previously Supported an Audit, Now Denies the Bill a Chance on the Senate Floor. Success Council, a Group Teaching People How To Profit and Prosper From the Upcoming Economic Crash, Reacts With An Online Video Slamming Reid.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 12, 2012
Audit the Fed Bill passed the House in July, and now is being stopped from a meaningful vote in the Senate by Harry Reid, who previously was an adamant supporter of the Bill. But why?
Online commentator and libertarian advocate, http://www.SuccessCouncil.com, reacts with a strong online video response slamming Reid for being a hypocrite. In the video, Success Council makes the argument for the Audit the Fed bill and explains Harry Reids hypocritical statements.

HR 459, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2012, is the Bill to Audit the Fed. Introduced by Congressman Ron Paul, the Audit the Fed Act hopes to audit the printing of money and the manner in which loans are made to a bank. The Audit the Fed Bill also plans to audit the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks. HR 459.
More specifically, the Audit the Fed bill will require the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct an audit of the review of loan files of homeowners in foreclosure in 2009 or 2010.
The audit will consider the Board of Governors and other consultants' advise to the banking system when considering loans. It will also take into account the financial devastation of homeowners.
Ben Bernake, chairman of the Fed, doesnt want the Audit, and has said, We think we are quite transparent My concern about the legislation is that if the GAO is auditing not only the operation aspects of the programs and the details of the programs but making judgments about our policy decisions, would effectively be a takeover of policy by the Congress and a repudiation of the independence of the Federal Reserve would be highly destructive to the stability of the financial system, the Dollar and our national economic situation.
Of course, the Libertarian view is exactly the opposite, and on the floor of the House Financial Services Committee Ron Paul (Audit the Feds author) said, Transparency in monetary policy is a goal we should all support. He went on to point out that, The dollar today is only worth .4 cents compared to the dollar the Fed started with in 1913.

Ron Paul Sees No Difference Between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama
Posted: at 11:11 pm
Speaking on the CNBC web show "Futures Now," Texas Rep. Ron Paul, a failed presidential candidate for the Republican Party, pointedly refused to endorse Mitt Romney, apparently seeing little difference between him and President Barack Obama.
Why the non-endorsement of Romney by Paul
Paul's disdain for Romney stems from his belief that the Republican presidential candidate will not make the cuts in federal spending that Paul believes must be made in order to stave off fiscal collapse, according to CNBC. In this Paul sees little difference between Romney and Obama. Paul also believes that Romney's and Obama's foreign and monetary policies are pretty much the same.
Paul inveighs against federal spending
Paul, in keeping with his decades long campaign against federal spending, recently wrote a blog post in which he mused on the number of people who are dependent on the federal government. He included not just people on welfare, but also seniors who collect social security and Medicare. While Romney suggested that 47 percent of the American people are dependent on government, Paul pegs the figure at 53 percent. Paul also attacked corporate welfare, which as he sees it has made private business more and more dependent on government.
Paul won't support Gary Johnson either
Thus far Paul has been rather coy about who if anyone he might support for president. In an Oct. 3 interview on Fox Business News, Paul suggested that he might support Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party candidate for president, according to Buzzfeed. However, in a Sept. 4 interview in the Daily Caller, Paul specifically refused to endorse Johnson either, even though the libertarian candidate is actively campaigning for the support of disaffected Paul voters.
The Rand Paul problem
Paul may be restrained from endorsing a third party candidate or even going third party himself because of his son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul. The younger Paul, who supported his father's run for the presidency during the primary campaign, officially endorsed Romney as soon as it was obvious that the older Paul could not win the Republican nomination, according to the Washington Post. This has placed the older Paul in an awkward position. On the one hand, many of Paul's followers condemned his son's endorsement of Romney as a betrayal. On the other hand, while the younger Paul intends to work within the Republican Party, any move by Ron Paul that would jeopardize Romney's chances at the presidency would essentially end Sen. Paul's political future.

Paul's Texas district becomes Election Day fight
Posted: at 1:22 am
In Ron Paul's congressional district of 15 years, Democrats such as art gallery owner Elisabeth Lanier feel this could finally be their year to take the seat _ and not because of the political climate or how district lines were redrawn.
It's because "Dr. No" is no longer on the ballot.
"I'm sure he's a nice man and so forth," said Lanier, whose Galveston storefront was swamped with seven feet of water during Hurricane Ike in 2008, when Paul absorbed criticism for not doing more for his storm-battered constituents. "But he did virtually nothing and feels that government should do nothing."
Vying to succeed Paul are Republican state Rep. Randy Weber, who has Paul's endorsement, and former Democratic Congressman Nick Lampson, who replaced disgraced House Majority Leader Tom DeLay in his last stint in the U.S. House. It's one of only two competitive congressional races in Texas, though Weber has an edge in the coastal district that leans Republican.
Paul seldom had to worry about losing. He won re-election with at least 60 percent of the vote in his last six tries, including twice when Democrats didn't even bother putting a candidate on the ballot. He announced his retirement from Congress last year before announcing what became his latest failed presidential bid.
So much of a juggernaut was Paul _ and his national legion of supporters who kept his campaign pocketbook flush _ that local Democrats groused about the national party never putting money behind a challenger. Patricia Gray, a former state Democratic lawmaker from Galveston, has recalled party brass telling her that Paul couldn't be beat.
In the 14th Congressional District, Paul was a fixture on the biking trails in his hometown of Lake Jackson, sent cookbooks to his constituents and would sometimes answer the phone in his office. But apart from endorsing Weber, he has kept a low profile this campaign.
With Paul out of the picture, Democrats think their chances have greatly improved. The Democratic National Campaign Committee has given Lampson $5,000, according to Federal Election Commission reports. Lampson also has outraised Weber, who owns an air conditioning and heating business and has loaned himself $226,500 in the race.
"It may be (Republican-leaning)," Lampson said of the district. "But in the case of the congressional race, with the two people that are in it, I honestly believe it will not perform in that way. I'm different."
The district is different than before, too.

Ron Paul Won't Endorse Romney, Says More of Same
Posted: at 1:22 am
Texas Republican congressman Ron Paul pointedly refused to endorse his party's presidential contender, Mitt Romney, arguing that neither he nor President Barack Obama would make necessary cuts to public spending that would avert a fiscal catastrophe.
"No," the iconoclastic Libertarian bluntly told CNBC's "Futures Now," when asked about whether he was prepared to endorse Romney. He accused both the former Massachusetts governor and the president of being captive to similar interests.
"Both within the establishment where they need the Federal Reserve as lender of last resort to make sure that you take all the risk in the world," Paul said. He linked the Fed -- his favorite foil -- and the Washington political establishment together as part of a "one party system" that refuses to make necessary but difficult choices to cut spending.

"I've been in this business a long time and believe me there is essentially no difference from one administration to another no matter what the platforms," said Paul, a former hopeful for the GOP nomination. "The foreign policy stays the same, the monetary policy stays the same, there's no proposal for any real cuts and both parties support it."
He cast some doubt that the looming fiscal cliff would have the economic impact many market observers are warning about, adding that Congress and the White House would likely find a way to delay the inevitable cuts in spending and tax hikes.
"They're not going to allow all those terrible things to happen on January 1, but they're not going to solve the problem either," Paul said.

The congressman also took aim at one of the main targets of his ire, Fed chairman Ben Bernanke. Paul has been a relentless critic of the Fed's monetary policy.
As the central bank launches a third round of indefinite quantitative easing, or QE3, Paul renewed his charge that cheap and indefinite monetary policies would eventually wreak havoc on the U.S. economy. He predicted gold (xau=) would continue to rise while the U.S. dollar (.dxy) would bear the brunt of ultra-loose monetary policy.

Ron Paul's district becomes an Election Day fight

By PAUL J. WEBER Associated Press
LEAGUE CITY, Texas (AP) - 1 of the few competitive Election Day races in Texas is a seat that hasn't been up for grabs in more than a decade: Ron Paul's congressional district.
The former presidential candidate is retiring from Congress after more than 20 years. Most of that was spent representing in the 14th Congressional District, where Republican Randy Weber and Democrat Nick Lampson are vying to become Paul's successor.
Weber is a state lawmaker who burnished a reputation as 1 of the most conservative members in the Texas Legislature. Lampson is trying to return to Congress, and is running as a moderate in a redrawn district that is no longer as firmly Republican.
Paul seldom worried about losing. He was re-elected with at least 60% of the vote his last six tries.

Ron Paul to Appear in New Film About U.S. Economy

In The Bubble, Paul criticizes the Federal Reserve and says America is facing an inflationary depression.
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 09, 2012
In the film, Paul says that Ben Bernanke's response to the 2008 crisis is only postponing America's fiscal problems. Paul believes that the massive increase in the money supply by the Fed will lead to extreme inflation and terrible unemployment. He says it is absolutely delusional to think we are entering into a period of recovery with either Romney or Obama. The Congressman was quick to point out that both Republicans and Democrats played a part in passing the recent stimulus acts and bailouts.
The standard of living is going down, Paul stated. The culprit is lower than market interest rates. The keynesians don't emphasize the need for production. They just want to create money and get people in the government to spend money...it is a very corrupt system and it is very unworkable.
The raw footage of Ron Paul and the rest of the cast member interviews are available online at http://www.TheBubbleFilm.com. Updates about the film, including information about its upcoming 2012 release, can also be found at http://www.Facebook.com/TheBubbleFilm.

Outdoors: Area gunsmith, firearms coach Ron Paul Duning in battle for his life
Posted: October 9, 2012 at 4:23 am
By Jeffrey L. Frischkorn JFrischkorn@News-Herald.com @FieldKorn
Breathing hard and walking slowly to a dinette set, Ron Paul Duning clutched the end of a chair before carefully easing his gaunt frame into the support piece of furniture.
With a weak cough, Ron Paul as virtually everyone calls him began his oral personal history.
Ron Paul is working against the clock, though. He has terminal cancer and every moment has become a struggle.
The 61-year-old Ron Paul also wants his friends to remember who he is and the trail he's hiked. What a remarkable journey it's been, too.
While just about everyone who knows Ron Paul is aware that he's a master gunsmith, a world-record-holding fast-draw champion, a Marine Corps veteran, and the founder of a local defensive shooting program, likely few are aware of his other life experiences.
Born in 1961 in Richmond, Ind., Ron Paul led an ordinary, quiet life like most every other rural kid. He will tell you with happy recollection that he grew up on a farm.
"No one in my family except my cousin was even remotely interested in firearms," Ron Paul said recently in an interview from his Willowick residence. "I started shooting with him and I found that I liked it."
Following his stint with the Marine Corps, Ron Paul became of all things a guide for the owners of a privately owned cave in Kentucky.
"I did that for 12 years," he said.
