GLAAD: Lethal enforcers of left’s tolerance mob

Posted: at 5:43 am

Duck Dynastys Phil Robertson is not alone. Hes the latest in a long, long lineup of politically incorrect targets of the lefts sensitivity mob. Founded in 1985, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) gangstas wont stop until both the cultural and legal enforcement of their agenda are the norm.

The A&E network (Atheists & Elitists) suspended the reality TV patriarch and self-made businessman on Wednesday for the Biblical views he expressed in an interview with GQ. Robertson was asked by the liberal magazine what he viewed as sinful. Drawing on the condemnation of sexual immorality in Corinthians 6:9, he cited adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers they wont inherit the kingdom of God.

Robertsons punishable transgressions? Responding honestly to a question posed to him (this was not an unsolicited anti-gay rant; it was a response) and abiding by his Christian faith. GLAADs P.C. Praetorian Guard sprung into repressive action. The same group that initially gave f-word-spouting, homophobic liberal Alec Baldwin a pass accused Robertson of uttering some of the vilest and most extreme statements against LGBT people ever. (They should listen to the Koran-inspired executioners rants of gay-hanging and gay-stoning Iranian mullahs sometime.) GLAAD also railed against Robertsons vile preference for female anatomy over male as if it were an international human rights violation.

A&E folded faster than a stadium seat, immediately disavowing Robertson and suspending him from his familys show indefinitely. Meanwhile, network execs continued to cash in on the lucrative Duck Dynasty empire with a marathon of program reruns on the very day they threw Robertson under the bus. The network is free to do that, of course. And I am free to tell you all about the radical thugs that A&E indulged.

GLAAD has worked tirelessly to marginalize and suppress the free speech of Christian leaders, Christian businesses and conservative talk-radio hosts dating back to their infamous Dr. Laura boycott 13 years ago. The groups mission is not about equality or defending against defamation. Its about silencing critics, making open debate radioactive, demonizing people of faith and making even the slightest perceived slight a hate crime.

Last year, GLAAD speech-squelchers issued a blacklist of 34 Christian commentators they wanted networks to ban from their air for extreme views (read: opposing gay marriage). Earlier this year, GLAAD attacked the National Geographic Channel for partnering with the traditional values-promoting Boy Scouts on a reality TV program.

GLAAD is free to start its own Gay Scouts, but instead chose to harangue NatGeo for refusing to run a disclaimer at the beginning of each show condemning the Boy Scouts leadership policies.

Its not enough to live and let live. You must repent and genuflect before the self-serving gods of selective progressivism. Thats why GLAAD forgave Hollywood director Brett Ratner for using the word fag. He was allowed back into the protected Hollywood club after submitting to GLAAD reeducation camp and appearing in GLAAD public service announcements. Bill Clinton, who authored both the Defense of Marriage Act and the Dont Ask, Dont Tell policies so reviled by the homosexual lobby, ended up receiving a GLAAD Advocate for Change award earlier this year for changing his mind when politically expedient.

For the civility police, the operational motto is always: Do as we say, not as we do, in the name of social justice. Amen.

In the 1960s, radical philosopher Herbert Marcuse popularized the repressive tolerance theory of modern progressives. Liberating tolerance would mean intolerance against movements from the right and toleration of movements from the left, Marcuse pontificated. Certain things cannot be said, certain ideas cannot be expressed, certain policies cannot be proposed.

Letter: Intolerance is a two way street By Haven Shoemaker Jr. Carroll County Times

So when did Christians' beliefs, particularly those of conservative Christians, become politically incorrect? For that matter, when did it become acceptable for those on the left to be tolerant of free speech unless it is speech that they don't like?

I'm speaking specifically about the A&E Network's decision to indefinitely suspend Duck Dynasty star, Phil Robertson after his candid public discussion regarding his firm belief that homosexuality is a sin based on his reading of Scripture.

The tolerance mobs insatiable quest for power and control has led to such unhinged witch-hunting that many of its own erstwhile allies are balking. Novelist Bret Easton Ellis called GLAAD the gatekeepers of politically correct gayness. He was attacked as a self-loathing gay man, but unlike A&E, he didnt give in. An organization holding an awards ceremony that they think represents all gays and also feels they can choose which gays can and cannot be a member of the party is, on the face of it, ridiculous.

Politically Incorrect – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Posted: at 4:43 pm

Politically Incorrect was an American late-night, half-hour political talk show hosted by Bill Maher that ran from 1993 to 2002. It premiered on Comedy Central in 1993, moved to ABC in January 1997, and was canceled in 2002.

The show first originated from New York City, but soon moved to Los Angeles to make it easier to get "stars" as guests. The New York episodes were shot at the CBS Broadcast Center and the Los Angeles episodes at CBS Television City, where it remained even after its move to ABC. The first episode featured comedian Jerry Seinfeld, Howard Stern sidekick Robin Quivers, Republican Party strategist Ed Rollins, and comedian Larry Miller.

The show won a 2000 Emmy Award for "Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video for a Series." In addition, it was nominated for seventeen other awards, including: "Outstanding Variety"; "Outstanding Music or Comedy Series" (every year from 1995 to 2002); and "Outstanding Performance in a Variety or Music Program" in 1997. The show also won two CableACE Awards in 1995 and 1996 for Talk Show Series and was nominated for a third in 1997. It was also nominated for two Writers Guild of America awards for best Comedy/Variety series in 2001 and 2002.[1]

The show's writers included Al Franken, Arianna Huffington, Kevin Bleyer, Scott Carter, and Chris Kelly. Frequent guests included Dave Matthews, Arianna Huffington, Michael McKean, Ann Coulter, Carrot Top, and Christine O'Donnell.[2]

The show began with a brief topical monologue from Maher. Then Maher introduces the guests individually, promoting their current projects. Four guests appear, usually a mix of individuals from show business, popular culture, pundits, political consultants, and occasionally regular people in the news, discussing topics in the news selected by Maher. Maher described the program as "The McLaughlin Group on acid."[3]

On rare occasions, Maher would interview a single guest. The show was pioneering in mixing political figures and entertainers. Maher tried to air all points of view, especially controversial ones. Guests could be both aggravating and insightful, with the conversation similar to a cocktail party with quick-witted guests.[3]

Barbara Olson, a frequent guest, was traveling to a taping of Politically Incorrect aboard American Airlines Flight 77 when it crashed into the Pentagon during the attacks. Maher left a panel chair empty for a week afterwards.

In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, U.S. President George W. Bush said that the terrorists responsible were cowards. On Politically Incorrect's September 17 show, Maher's guest Dinesh D'Souza disputed Bush's label, saying the terrorists were warriors.[4] Maher agreed, and according to a transcript replied "We have been the cowards, lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly".[4]

While similar comments had been made in other media, Maher's comments became a major controversy.[4] Some advertisers withdrew their support and some ABC affiliates stopped airing the show temporarily.[4] White House press secretary Ari Fleischer denounced Maher, warning that "people have to watch what they say and watch what they do."[5]

Maher apologized, and explained that he had been criticizing U.S. military policy, not American soldiers. He pointed out that whether the attacks were cowardly was irrelevant to whether they were morally right or wrong.[citation needed]

For the most part, factually correct.

Why waste breath with "person with a disability" when "disabled" is more concise?

Saying whatever you god-damn wanna say, and expressing your opinions, and not giving a shit if a spineless minority deems it "offensive".

BARACK SUCKS!!! YOU'RE POLITICALLY INCORRECT. GOOD JOB.

Anything that is highly offensive to a white liberal.

White liberals say that calling someone a Portagee is politically incorrect. They say they become offended by hearing the word "Portagee." Well, Ms. White Liberal, I'm a Portagee and proud of it, and you can just go blow it out you rass.

A phrase used by those attempting to pull an ideological snowjob on their audience; implies that the statement is some deep (often offensive) truth that the Establishment is ignoring or obfuscating, when in all likelihood the snowjobber is trying to disguise a wingnut theory as a piece of significant thought.

They say it's politically incorrect to deny evolution; I say it's just incorrect.

2. Being vocal and active in speaking out against the government, especially during the G W Bush administration

3. What ignorant assholes use as their excuse for being ignorant assholes

‘Duck Dynasty’: Unreal outrage

Posted: at 4:43 pm

So rednecks need to be politically correct now?

Wait, before the National Association of Rednecked Persons attacks me, let me be clear that I dont mean redneck as an insult. Indeed, Redneck Pride has been on the rise ever since Jeff Foxworthy got rich informing people they might be a redneck.

Redneck reality shows have been all the rage: Rocket City Rednecks, Hillbilly Handfishin and, of course, Swamp People. But the gold standard is Duck Dynasty, which follows the Robertsons, a family that struck it rich selling duck calls. Its like a real-life version of The Beverly Hillbillies. All of the men look like they stepped out of the Hatfield-McCoy conflict to smoke a corncob pipe.

What all of these reality shows have in common is their shock value. And guess what? Sometimes the shock is manufactured. If the cameras werent on, the silicone life forms on the various Real Housewives shows probably wouldnt be throwing wine in each others faces as much as they do.

But heres a twist. Phil Robertson (who shhh! has a masters degree from Louisiana Tech) gave an interview to GQ in which he said that, as a Christian, he has problems with homosexuality. He got a bit too detailed with his anatomical analysis. But his real sin was calling homosexuality a sin comparable with bestiality.

In response, A&E suspended him from the reality show about his own family. Which should give you a sense of how real this reality show is. If its about the family, some producer in New York cant decide whos in or out of the family. If NBC News decided it simply didnt like the Republican Party anymore (not altogether implausible), it could decide not to report on the GOP. But it would stop being a news organization in the process. Instead, it would be producing a kind of reality show for which it makes up its own version of reality (like Top Chef or MSNBC).

Sarah Palin jumped in. Free speech is an endangered species, she warned on her Facebook page. Those intolerants hatin and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us.

There are no constitutional free-speech rights involved when a private entertainment network decides to cut a character from a fake reality show. But Palins not entirely wrong, either. Liberals love free expression so long as you free-express things they agree with.

Now, I dont agree with Robertsons take on homosexuality. Heck, I dont even like duck hunting. But I also dont care. What I object to is the insinuation that I have to.

And what I find ridiculous is the shock that an avatar of the redneck renaissance might actually have politically incorrect or just plain religiously orthodox views on homosexuality. Seriously, who called for the fainting couch when they read his interview in GQ?
