Applied DNA Sciences Partners With UK Metropolitan Police Service to Combat Crime in London

Posted: at 2:42 pm

STONY BROOK, NY--(Marketwire - Dec 21, 2012) - Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. ( OTCBB : APDN ), (Twitter: @APDN), a provider of DNA-based anti-counterfeiting technology and product authentication solutions, announced today that the UK Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) will be using its proprietary DNANet property marking kits as part of a major initiative to reduce crime in targeted London neighborhoods.

MPS will be deploying DNANet markers in thousands of homes where homeowners will be encouraged to mark and register their valuable belongings. In the case of theft, the presence of the unique DNANet marker enables police to identify stolen goods and trace them to a specific crime scene. The unequaled forensic merit of DNANet markers empower municipalities to apprehend and convict criminals. In the long term, crime deterrence rises from enhanced policing and prosecution power.Street and home signage announcing the use of DNANet markers will place potential offenders on alert, offering additional deterrence value.

Chief Inspector Robyn Williams, who is responsible for Neighbourhood Policing and Partnership in Lambeth, said: "The response from Lambeth residents to this Burglary crime prevention and reduction scheme has been extremely positive with an almost 100% take up rate of addresses visited to date. Police in Lambeth will continue to adopt and utilise innovative tactics including DNANet property marking that will support us in keeping our residents safe."

Dr. James A. Hayward, President and CEO of Applied DNA Sciences stated, "Our DNA products are already used across Europe in high security applications. We protect approximately twenty-six percent (26%) of all cash movements across the UK, which has been instrumental in the capture and sentencing of a significant number of criminals. Our DNA is also used across Sweden in jewelry stores and recently to protect copper assets located in Energy stations throughout Sweden. We are delighted to be working with the Metropolitan Police on this excellent crime reduction initiative to help protect households and communities for people worried about crime in their neighborhoods."

The value of DNA-based law enforcement tool offered by Applied DNA Sciences, is well known in the United Kingdom. Recently, Applied DNA Sciences was awarded the Excellence in Policing award and POP ("Problem Oriented Policing") award. These awards recognized APDN's SigNature DNA technology which helped the Lancashire constabulary to positively identify and prosecute perpetrators in the UK. In December 2011, APDN was awarded the coveted Tilley award from both Houses of Parliament for the contribution of SigNature DNA in the resolution of the Blackburn robbery case that resulted in five convictions with a total of 55 years in sentencing. In a separate case, SigNature DNA helped in the dismantling of a major UK drug ring where eleven cartel members were sentenced to a total of 31 years in prison.

Applied DNA Sciences Reports Fiscal Year End 2012 Results

Posted: at 2:42 pm

STONY BROOK, NY--(Marketwire - Dec 20, 2012) - Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. ( OTCBB : APDN ) announced its financial results for the year ending September 30, 2012, generating annual revenues of $1.85 million. This is the company's highest recorded annual revenues, and represents a ninety-one percent (91%) year-over-year increase.

For the years ending September 30, 2012 and 2011, the company generated $1,854,694 and $968,848 in revenues from operations, respectively. The 91% increase in revenues was substantially generated from sales of our SigNature DNA and BioMaterial Genotyping as a result of an increase in our customer base.

Our top two and three customers were responsible for approximately 54% and 53% of our revenues for the years ended September 30, 2012 and 2011, respectively. In addition, two and four customers accounted for approximately 54% and 77% of total accounts receivable at September 30, 2012 and 2011, respectively.

Selling, general and administrative expenses for the twelve months ended September 30, 2012 decreased 9.2% to $7,615,734 from $8,388,873 in the same period in 2011. Included within the selling, general and administrative expenses for the year ended September 30, 2012 was a noncash charge to operations of $2,012,082 for the fair value of vested options issued to officers and employees and other stock based compensation compared to $3,668,460 in 2011.

Research and development expenses increased by $163,793 for the twelve months ended September 30, 2012 compared to the same period in 2011 from $268,876 to $432,669, primarily due to an increase in research and development activities to support our increased customer demand.

Total operating expenses decreased to $8,362,343 for the twelve months ended September 30, 2012 from $9,025,305 in the same period of 2011, or a decrease of $662,962, primarily due to decrease in stock based compensation expenses net with the increase in research and development compared to the same period last year.

Net loss for the twelve months ended September 30, 2012 was $7,150,712 compared to $10,515,124 in the same period of 2011, a net change of $3,364,412 as a result of the combination of factors described above.

Key 2012 achievements include:We filed a number of new patents and trademarks this year, continuing to build upon our already strong intellectual property portfolio. We will continue to build our patent and trademark portfolio and we will vigorously defend our IP position and prosecute others attempting to infringe on our IP.

Working with Safe Solution, we continue to expand in Sweden. In addition to using our technology to protect jewelry stores, our DNA markers are now being used to protect armored vehicles in Stockholm and to protect copper assets located in Energy stations throughout that country.

On August 3, 2012, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) posted notice on its DLA Internet Bid Board System (DIBBS) that effective November 15, 2012, it will require the use of SigNature DNA marking on microcircuits. This mandate specifically requires SigNature DNA marking for procurements of items falling within Federal Supply Class 5962, Electronic Microcircuits. We expect this to have a positive impact on the Company this coming fiscal year.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO http://www.weightlossgurl.com If you are not in that lucky few genetically resistant to obesity. dont despair. We are going to go over why over 60% and truthfully 75% of us me included are not in that lucky group. Realize you are NOT doomed to live a life of fatness .If you dont have those athletic genes it just means you actually have to work at it. Your diet, eating habits, amount of water, and the condition of your liver all play a role in your weight. Everyone... and I mean everyone can improve their body shape, weight and general health from where it is today. Your body fat is the result of many influences, genetics is really just a very small one of them and as little as 25% in reality. The causes for the other 75% are not genetic/biological in nature. Lets take a look at what the experts say in current data. (1) physical environment (2) social environment (3) behavior (4) biology Read that again (1) through (4) and reflect for just a minute. Now this means that 75% of your results are lifestyle and behavior. That means you are actually making the choice to be overweight. There are many factors that lead to it, but the truth lies within us. Now this study shows only 25% by biology. According to facts from the last 50 years what we see is this behavior has developed only over the past 50 years. If you look back in history it cannot be explained by changes in our genome.
