On Wednesday, Paul posted answers to a pair of questions about his positions on marijuana and Bitcoin.

Paul responded to the question about marijuana by calling the American War on Drugs "outrageous."

"The drug war has never done anything good. It cost a lot of money, it was an excuse to violate the civil liberties of a lot of Americans, and it challenges the notice that people get to make their private choices. Even when theres risk involved, government is meant to protect us from ourselves, government is meant to protect our liberties," Paul wrote. "When people have the right to make their own decisions, they should be responsible for all the actions they take. The drug war is a typical example of how the government is intending to make people better and once they do that they are getting into the business of removing personal liberty."

Paul argued Bitcoin is not "true money," but he said the cryptocurrency should be "perfectly legal and there should be no restrictions on it, there should be no taxes on it."

Scott Stenholm, an executive producer at Paul's RonPaulChannel digital news network, confirmed to Business Insider that the posts on Quora were written by Paul himself.

"We've been talking about it for a while," Stenholm said of Paul's decision to join Quora. "President Obama did it and some other high profile people. It seems to be getting a fast response. ... Ron wants to get the message out, so we thought it would advantageous."

As of this writing, Paul has 195 followers on the site.

Last week, former Rep. Ron Pauls (R-TX) research arm, the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, republished a blog post from author Paul Craig Roberts entitled Is the US or the World Coming to an End?

The post credulously repeated many of the Russian Federations claims which they say justify a slow-motion invasion of South and East Ukraine, including assertions that American mercenaries are assisting Kievs forces and that neo-Nazis have taken control of the government in Ukraine.

The post goes on to note how American actions have reduced its credibility across the globe. But Roberts spends eight paragraphs toward the end of the piece attacking what he calls the governments theory regarding the events of September 11, 2001.

The most serious blow of all is the dawning realization everywhere that Washingtons crackpot conspiracy theory of 9/11 is false, Roberts alleges. Large numbers of independent experts as well as more than one hundred first responders have contradicted every aspect of Washingtons absurd conspiracy theory.

As Reason magazine editor and FBNs The Independents co-host Matt Welch, observed, that article was reprinted with the authors permission.

Appearing on Welchs show Wednesday, Paul was confronted about his organization publishing material from a 9/11 conspiracy theorist. The former congressman said that concern over that post was a form of political correctness.

Well, its just that people should have a right to express their viewpoints, Paul insisted. If you read 99 percent of the article it was a fantastic article.

Paul said that his organizations decision to republish the piece does not amount to a personal endorsement of Roberts views. So, I think thats a little bit overkill with political correctness, Paul insisted. People know my position, Ive stated [it] on national television enough times.

I think that, to me, the people who overly criticize something like that probably are the ones who have the problem, he added.

Defiant Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy received some key but qualified support in his still-unresolved standoff with the Obama administration.

Libertarian icons ex-Rep. Ron Paul of Texas and his son, Sen. Rand Paul, Kentucky Republican, both came out with critical comments on the federal governments handling of the land dispute, while the Nevada Cattlemens Association broke its silence on the dispute Wednesday with harsh words of its own for the feds.

The NCAs careful statement noted the group does not condone actions that are outside the law, in which citizens take the law into their own hands, but it noted that Mr. Bundy and his family were provoked by the policy of the Interior Departments Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

Ranchers such as Mr. Bundy have found themselves with their backs against the wall as, increasingly, federal regulations have infringed on their public land grazing rights and the multiple-use management principle, the association said. This is not only devastating to individual ranching families; it is also causing rural communities in the West to wither on the vine.

The senior Mr. Paul also criticized what he said was overkill in the armed confrontation that nearly led to violence before the BLM stood down over the weekend.

They may come back with a lot more force, like they did at Waco with the Davidians, the senior Mr. Paul said on Fox News, referencing the 1993 Branch Davidian standoff in Texas that left nearly 100 people dead.

His son, Rand Paul, became one of the first of the 2016 contenders to weigh in on the dispute, criticizing the heavy federal enforcement array in the confrontation.

The federal government shouldnt violate the law, nor should we have 48 federal agencies carrying weapons and having SWAT teams, Mr. Paul said on a Kentucky radio station.

The younger Mr. Paul also appealed for the Bundy family, which does not recognize the federal governments jurisdiction over the disputed lands, to seek redress nonviolently.

Paul described Bitcoin as an "introduction" to competition for the dollar that could improve our "terrible monetary system."

"Bitcoin is a very interesting subject because for many years in Congress I was a champion of legalizing competition in currencies," wrote Paul. "We have a terrible monetary system today. We have a government that purposely counterfeits and debases the currencies and I believe that the alternative would be a competition. That means that anything that wants to substitute for the American dollar should be permitted. There should be no prohibitions; there should not be a monopoly and a cartel running our monetary system because it so often benefits the privileged few. ...Bitcoin is an introduction to that."

Paul also noted Bitcoin requires "freedom from government intervention when it comes to the Internet" to flourish. He said he is "concerned that the government ultimately wants to curtail the Internet."

"The internet is the salvation for those of us who believe in liberty because it is an alternative way of getting around the system not only in the spreading of our ideas in this instance but in in terms of getting around the monetary system on the whole if they do permit crypto-currencies and other forms of transactions. So, this is something that we should all be concerned about whether we endorse it or not," Paul wrote.
