The Sounds Of Trance Sunny Lax – Dance Music Northwest

Posted: April 28, 2017 at 3:17 pm

Seattle Trance Alliance presents: The Sounds Of Trance Sunny Lax

Levente Mrton surely better known as Sunny Lax is a hungarian DJ/Producer. He was born on the 6th of August 1986. As a young thirteen year old Levente was a keen enthusiast when it came to making electronic music, and it was only a matter of time before the hobby that was became a full time profession. Soon he had gained all the experience necessary when it came to employing the latest production techniques, something he is now famed for. His hard work turned fruitful when he was seventeen as he entered for two major Hungarian remix competitions and as a result Sunny Lax the artist was born on the progressional circuit through the publishing of these mixes.

His first success came in the year of 2005 after he sent his new track PUMA to one of the most famous dance labels Anjunabeats. The trio that are Above & Beyond were so taken back by his demo that they play the record for weeks on end (and didnt waste any time signing him up). As a result his first EP was released (which consisted of both PUMA and Cassiopeia) and within a short time everyone that mattered was in full support, including the worlds No. 1 DJ Armin van Buuren who made PUMA the Record Of The Week (and liked it so much it featured on Armins legendary ASOT Yearmix Album for 2005).

Driven by the success of these records Levente soon started receiving remix requests from almost every major label in the dance music scene, averaging almost a mix a month. In addition his sets have featured on major radio networks, and he has been asked to play at many key clubs around the world. But most importantly, and the thing that has continued to drive him, has been the overwhelming support from his fans, and for Levente this is what makes it all worthwhile.

In the past years he created trance anthems like Blue bird, Reborn, Miqu and Misgrey, and continued to work with key labels such as Anjunabeats, Mondo, AVA Recordings and Deep Blue. At the same time he has continued to remix for all the biggest labels, and for leading artists in the scene such Above & Beyond, Super8 & Tab, Darren Tate, Lange, Daniel Kandi and Nitrous Oxide.

Recently Levente has been busier than ever. He has defined the uplifting end of Anjunabeats output in recent years with releases like Karma, Daenerys, Melba or the beatport topper Enceladus. In may 2015 he has reached new highs in his DJ career with his first US North tour, teamed up with Genix. Theyve conquered seven cities from New York to San Fransisco with their fresh collaboration making many fans happy and reaching more new fans. After the successful tour he had the chance to open the legendary Dreamstate festival in front of 10 thousand people.

And the best is yet to come

I Was In A Trance, Says Man Who Crushed Wife’s Head – ZimEye – Zimbabwe News

Posted: at 3:17 pm

A 21 year old Karoi man, who crushed his wifes head with a stone over infidelity claims, has filed an application for bail at the High Court, saying he committed the offence while in a trance.

Nobert Wine, of Kiyalami Farm, submitted to the High Court on Tuesday that he was in a trance when he unleashed a senseless streak of assaults after he allegedly found his wife Danai Nyikadzino having sexual intercourse with another man.

Wine also submitted that his case be changed from murder to culpable homicide, as he had no intention to kill her. The accused also stated that he only used sticks, not logs, and head butts.

He also said it was not stated that he used a rock, but a stone, a clear indication it was small.

Allegations against Wine are that on December 12 last year, Nyikadzino lied to him that she was visiting a prophet to have her stomach pains healed.

It is alleged Wine followed her and found her in the bush having sexual intercourse with another man.

The State alleges her boyfriend fled the scene and Wine then assaulted Nyikadzino with his feet, sticks and head butts. He struck her on the head with a stone.

It is alleged Nyikadzino became unconscious as a result of the assaults and Wine tried to resuscitate her. Wine later took her to Karoi District Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

A postmortem was carried out and the doctor concluded that it was a healthy body with an injured head. Newsday

Salma Hayek on ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ Striptease: I Had to Put Myself in a Trance to Perform With a Snake – Yahoo Movies

Posted: at 2:20 am

Salma Hayek remembers how she got the role of a snake-dancing stripper vampire in the Quentin Tarantino-penned, Robert Rodriguez-directed thriller From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). But she doesnt remember all that much about the actual filming. Hayek said at multiple points during our recent Role Recall interview that her memories of filming the scene were blurry because she had gone on trance due to some serious ophidiophobia.

Quentin told me, Oh, by the way, youre dancing with a snake. I said, I cant do that, I cant do that. Its my greatest fear, Hayek recalled (watch above). To prod the actress, Tarantino claimed that Madonna was interested in the role, and that she would have no problem being wrapped in python.

So it was good because I had to overcome my greatest fear. I had to go on trance to do the dance And there was no choreography. It was improvised. Because you cant choreograph a snake, we dont know what shes going to do!

Hayek was recruited to the project after doing a favor for friend Rodriguez. He and Tarantino were working on the anthology film Four Rooms (1994) and needed a stripper, so Rodriguez reached out to his Desperado star on the day of filming. He said, Just put a bathing suit on, and we wont see your face.'

So I did it and from that dance, Quentin wrote me the part in From Dusk Till Dawn, Hayek explained. Where of course he makes me dance only for him. George Clooney was like, How come she doesnt look at us? [Quentin said], Because Im the writer.'

Hayek will next be seen in How to Be a Latin Lover, in theaters April 24.

Interview – Solarstone talks new album .- – – – Trance Hub (satire) (press release) (blog)

Posted: at 1:02 am

Its been five years since the trance maven last released a studio album. Its fair to say though that his hands have been plenty busy meantime. (Two record labels launched, a hundred releases between em, Electronic Architecture continued, formation of a trance supergroup, yadda, yadda, Oh, and the not exactly trifling matter of a scene-wide mobilization and the 60+ Pure Trance events and 5 Pure Trance mix-comps that stemmed from it).

Buy/Stream .-

Happy to be back! It wasnt planned exactly like you suggest as a surprise but I do prefer to just get on with things and tell the world when they are ready, rather than drip feeding information in advance. I dont see the point in sharing the planning and what is next information with the public, its more exciting to me for projects to arrive with a bang!

Ah-ha, well that would spoil the whole mystery around the project wouldnt it? Using morse in the design , art and campaign for the album is to focus the attention on the music and visual elements, rather than anything else. Personally I always found the sleeve notes, little details etc of an album fascinating, and anyone who follows the Electronic Architecture series already knows that. This is just my way of bringing another dimension to the release.

I have a great many tracks in a halfway-state, but back then in 2015 I was still not 100% on how I wanted the album to feel, hence I didnt complete the tracks. Once I had that little moment of inspiration it all started to fit together. Releasing a new album was not of huge importance for the first few years after Pure there was so much other stuff to be getting on with.

Im not elaborating on that one

She is a real Pro, very easy to work with and she sent me all these wonderful layers of harmonies, canons and other vocal parts to work with a real delight. She wrote the song over a very simple demo I sent her, Ill upload it some day so fans can see where it came from, its quite interesting when you compare those early demos with the finished song!

No, not at all. Pure Trance is my focus and I cant see that changing. .- is an album of Solarstone music, but Pure Trance is a movement which is growing all the time, its my passion because it is the summing up of everything I love about Trance.

Were in a very different place to 5 years ago before Pure Trance, thats for sure. Im really happy that things are heading in the right direction. I like the fact that there are so many new, young producers popping up with a love of this music.

Well firstly its not a franchise! Its 100% me & my colleagues powering this thing. We want to do some larger events this year but we dont want to change the nature of the events. By that I mean that we want to do some shows for a larger number of people but we dont want to compromise on the production or artistic values. My events are about the musical journey, the integrity of the DJs, understated production I dont want or intend to compete with other scenes which focus on confetti-drops, explosions and enormous stages with fireworks! Pure Trance is an underground movement and Im happy for it to stay that way, rather than have some temporary commercial super stardom.

Im not even bloody bald! I started shaving my head when I was 21 when I got the eyebrow piercing, but it was being mentioned as a bald Dj that made me decide to grow my hair to see if I still could! Its a little bit thin but theres plenty of it so bollocks to that question

My first record was called Lifes Not Real in 1993, in fact my entire discography is here on my website if anyone wants to check it out. but my first trance release was probably Dolphin from the Aquanaut EP in 1995. I really had no presumptions or expectations about a career growing up I was told that I should get a proper job by people rather than want to get into pop music but my Mother always told me to go for whatever I wanted to do, she listened to my first ideas and gave me encouragement, she read my crappy lyrics and poems and was patient & kind without her I wouldnt be doing this now. A career in music is tough, its constant ups & downs, no guarantees, sometimes you dont get paid, sometimes you are broke and there seems to be no future in it, other times you are flavour-of-the-month. Only do it if you truly love your art.

I dont agree if you saw the amount of demos I get every week from all over the world youd be surprised! Agreed I dont get many demos from Asia but I never did, its never been a hotbed of trance producers those places you mentioned have always been the main sources of trance music. There has always been a lot of talent in Scandinavia and that is still true.

Thats a funny question & a strange word with which Ive always had a bit of a problem; I dont feel proud of my music, I like it, I like creating it and Im happy that people like it but I was brought up with the phrase pride comes before a fall so Ive always avoided expressing that emotion, probably wrongly but hey, its worked for me so far! I just get on with it.

Rediscover the Transcendental Experience, a Singaporean trance trio – Bandwagon

Posted: at 1:02 am

Unbeknownst to many of our younger readers, Singapore once had a pretty awesome trance act called theTranscendental Experienceback in the mid-90s'.

Most notably, they released a fairly well-known EPon famed English label React in 1996 (yes, 21 years ago).

Made up of Shawn Chin, DJ Cher and Jason Tan (still active as a member of Syndicate and Octover), the trio of producers quietly emerged in Europe with the backing of legendary local nightclubZouk.

Titled Zouk Presents: Transcendental Experience, their debut offering in the UKand Ireland contained four propulsivetracks - namely 'Levitation', 'Vertigo', 'Vicious' and 'Alien Objects'.

An uplifting combination of progressive trance and Goa trance, one could imagine that these songs would have been crowd-pleasersat several energetic all-night raves back in the day.

Alas, most of us here at Bandwagon were much too young back then, so we'll settle for rediscoveringTranscendental Experienceon Spotify.

A couple of their tracks have been uploaded onto YouTube for posterity as well.

Tinariwen mixes everything from indie rock to trance to African politics – Washington Post

Posted: at 1:02 am

By Mark Jenkins By Mark Jenkins April 21

Outsiders call their people Tuareg, but the members of Tinariwen are more likely to use Kel Tamashek, the title of the first song they played Wednesday at the Barns of Wolf Trap. It refers to those who speak Tamashek, a Berber language of the region where the borders of Mali, Algeria, Libya and Niger blur in desert sands. The bands name in Tamashek was projected on the wall behind the stage as the musicians produced sounds that were as exotic to Americans as their face-covering turbans and yet sometimes sounded eerily familiar.

Tinariwens lineup is fluid, with as many as nine musicians on tour and others involved only in recording. Wednesdays 90-minute concert began with six people onstage, fronted by singer-guitarist Abdallah Ag Alhousseyni. Soon they were joined by the man most often called the groups leader, Ibrahim Ag Alhabib. The only one of the seven who didnt wear a turban, Ag Alhabib took the main role on almost as many songs as Ag Alhousseyni. The third frontman, Alhassane Ag Touhami, served mostly as a singer and dancer. But he was up front for two numbers, proving himself as deft a guitarist as the other two.

To Western ears, the oddest yet most congenial thing about the bands simultaneously plaintive and rollicking style is its reliance on electric guitars. Two and occasionally three of them sauntered and cycled together, sliding in and out of phase. While Elaga Ag Hamids chunky rhythm guitar brought the funk, the leads ranged from primal to ethereal, suggesting everything from Chicago blues to modal indie-rock to the trance music of Berber gnawa groups such as the Master Musicians of Jajouka. Hand drummers Said Ag Ayad and Mohammed Ag Tahada paced the guitars, sometimes jumping ahead of the beat and compelling the others to gallop to catch up.

Ag Alhousseyni played mostly acoustic guitar, a choice that also helps define the bands new album, Elwan (The Elephants). It was partly recorded in California in the desert, of course with such indie-rock guests as Kurt Vile and Mark Lanegan. The latter contributes a few lines in English to Nannuflay, one of seven Elwan tunes the band performed at the Barns. But the outsiders seem to have shaped the album much less than did Ag Alhousseyni, whose style contains as much Andres Segovia as Bo Diddley. At the Barns, he prefaced such songs as Assawat with Bach-rock intros.

Theres joy in such instrumental flourishes, but the new album also expresses resignation. The Elephants refers to the war between governments and jihadists in Sahara, which threatens to crush the Kel Tamashek. Lifting their voices Wednesday night, though, the members of Tinariwen sounded as indomitable as ever.
