Armin Van Buuren moved to tears at Untold festival | Trance Hub – Trance Hub (satire) (press release) (blog)

Armin Van Buuren is known well for his power packed performances. Versatile as he is, the trance king can appeal to a vast mainstage crowd which may not be all about trance, but he can also win the hearts of the trance family with his classic sets.
His set at the A State of Trance stage at Tomorrowland saw pure classics. And now again, at Untold Festival he had the opportunity to play a set with the sounds close to his heart. Just like his fans who were overwhelmed with emotions, he was moved to tears because of the music and the response of his fans. They say trance is all about emotions. We saw true emotion right here.
Infact, he even pulled off an all-nighter. Armin was supposed to play a three hour closing set at the festival. But three hours just werent adequate enough and he went ahead and extended it for two more hours!

The Farm, N-Trance, Clint Boon and Brother Beyond head to Oldham for new free music festival – Mancunian Matters
Posted: at 4:19 am
A brand-new, family-friendly music festival is coming to Oldham town centre and best of all, its free.
#OldhamLIVE will take place on Saturday, September 9, under the Parliament Square owls with a line-up that includes a headline set from The Farm, best known for their 1990s baggy anthem Altogether No.
The festival has been set up by Oldham Council and independent radio station Revolution 96.2, and promises to be a great day out for the whole family.
Gemma Hunt, popularly known as Gem from the CBeebies hit show Swashbuckle, will kick things off at noon, headlining a pirate-themed, daytime line-up full of magic shows, puppet performances and Prince and Princess singalongs.
Live music gets underway at 6pm with Stooshe, Kelly Lorenna from N-Trance, a Clint Boon DJ set and Nathan Moore from Brother Beyond also joining The Farm on the bill.
Oldham Council Leader, Jean Stretton, said she was very excited to begin counting down until the big day.
This festival will plug a gap in Oldhams entertainment offer and its great news for residents, families, music lovers, visitors and town centre traders," she said.
Weve got some brilliant local live music venues and events but the new Parliament Square gives us the chance to deliver something extra.
This is a festival with a line-up of established acts and entertainment where families can have fun and enjoy some of the best-selling artists of recent years and all for free.
Were working with Revolution 96.2 doing our bit to promote Oldham and to give families a top day out.
Your bit is to simply come along, enjoy yourselves, spread the word and help to give our local economy a real boost on the day.
Managing Director at Revolution 96.2 Matt Ramsbottom also had positive things to say about the upcoming event.
He said: This is brilliant news for Oldham a real first for the town centre and were excited to be making this happen.
Theres going to be something on offer for everyone at #OldhamLIVE.
The pirate-themed kids show is bound to be a real hit and great fun, and weve tried hard with the music line-up to suit all kinds of tastes.
There are acts on the bill for the nostalgic from the 80s, 90s, Noughties and now.
DJs Elliot Eastwick and Dave Sweetmore from the radio station will lead the Parliament Square crowds through the event.
Local businesses are encouraged to capitalise on the festival and promote special offers for the day using the #OldhamLIVE hashtag on social media.
#OldhamLIVE falls on the final day of the Your Oldham Festival which aims to celebrate the great co-operative activities happening across the borough.
From 10am to 2pm on the same day families can enjoy the Your Future event at Oldham Library.
From creating futuristic pieces of artwork at one of the craft sessions, to duelling with Darth Vader or dancing with royal guests, there should be something for everyone.
To book tickets and guarantee your place for some Galactic Knight Training or a Princess Singalong with your favourite Ice Queen, visit http://www.youroldham.coop.

Laidback Luke explains why DJ Mag has gotten this commercial – Trance Hub (satire) (press release) (blog)
Posted: August 5, 2017 at 6:27 am
The first thing that probably comes to your head when see Laidback Luke and DJ mag together on a Trancehub post, youll must be thinking that we too must have switched around. No, we will never leave trance no matter what happens. But this post is one that needed to be shared with the world. Though Laidback Luke says it, it is very relevant to the current scenario today and he gives us a few points that will actually leave us wondering if we vote right?
What he says is actually true. The poll is for the Top 100 DJs, not for the best producer or the most commercial or whatever it may be tagged as. Then why do we vote for people without considering these aspects? In the end, the ones who actually deserve to be there never make it on the list.
This is worth watching. Please do have a look and then vote!

Darker Wave duo bring house and trance names to Northampton club – Northamptonshire Telegraph
Posted: August 4, 2017 at 1:22 pm
DJs from across the world will be playing at A Darker Waves inaugural event at Club 43 in Northampton this month.
For the last two and a half years, A Darker Wave has been broadcasting a radio show based out of Daventry and streaming on Radio Flintshire, a community radio station in North Wales.
Each week, it plays the best in underground techno, tech house and deep house as well as promoting up and coming DJs and producers.
Next Saturday, Thailands Redshifter will be headlining, playing a two hour live techno DJ set.
He will be joined by rising techno DJ MonoPhaze from Italy, Frederique Rijsdijk from Holland and Shaman and Mas from the UK.
A Darker Wave DJs jacki-e and p-mac will also be playing.
Speaking about the event, the pair said: Its a free party because we want as many people as possible to come and enjoy themselves with us.
It gives everyone a chance to come down to Club 43 to see what we are about.
The headliner Redshifter from Bangkok in Thailand, co-owner of the MCHNWRKS record label.
He'll be playing his live set and it's something that's really special.
He's in the UK for a short time so we are very fortunate to have been able to get him for our first party.
There is so much new, good music being made by this new wave of DJs and producers that it deserves an outlet.
It's for people who love music and who want to dance to music that is emotional, that makes you think, that engages your intellect as well as your feet. It is deep, dark, rhythmic and emotional.
As well as their regular radio show, The Darker Wave duo have played at clubs across the UK and Germany.
Speaking about the origins of their name, the do added: Dark Wave was first used in the 1980s to describe a dark and melancholy variant of new wave and post-punk music and was first applied to UK musicians such as Bauhaus, Joy Division and Sisters of Mercy.
It was also used to describe artists who combined music with performance art, such as Throbbing Gristle and Cabarert Voltaire, who challenged and explored the darker and obsessive sides of the human condition.
A lot of techno takes its spirit and ethos from this music, you can hear the industrial sounds which are a staple of techno music today.
Techno is the outsider of electronic dance music, the punk of today's modern music scene.
As Dave Clarke said in his recent interview with Mixmag, Techno is edgy. Techno will challenge you......it's the real dark art."
Following the event on August 12, they will return to the venue on September 16.
Doors open at 10pm, admission is free. Admission on September 16 and into events will be 3 in advance or 5 on the door.

In-Depth Interview With Ferry Corsten – EDM Identity
Posted: at 1:22 pm
Ferry Corsten stops by to discuss his recent performances at Tomorrowland, his new album Blueprint, and loads more!
Ferry Corsten, a name that is synonymous with trance since its infancy. The man behind world renowned projects, such as Moonman, Gouryella and System F, is responsible for what many believe to be the rise in Dutch Trance. His impact has engulfed trance for more than 20 years. We had the great honour to speak with the man himself about his double performance at Tomorrowland on Weekend 1, his new Blueprint album, upcoming projects and a few other interesting topics!
Hi there! Im doing great thanks! Its been an exciting summer for me releasing my album Blueprint and doing all my summer shows!
It was fantastic. The Trance Energy stage really brought the magic to the audience regarding production, and its always great to play for the trance crowd. I always have fun when I get to play together with Fadi at the Future Sound of Egypt stage. Just a great crew and a very appreciative crowd.
Tomorrowland has grown into such a unique concept which allow dance fans for a whimsical dance experience with their favourite DJs. Their production is unmatched by any other festival.
I definitely think so, and the fact that there are trance events around the world on the rise aside from Trance energy proves that as well.
I agree. I wasnt thinking of bringing the alias back per se but noticed that I missed the emotion and melodies of trance. I wasnt really thinking of producing another Gouryella until I was working on a track in the studio one day when I realised that it had to be the next Gouryella. After that moment I havent looked back.
Back in the day, I had a lot of aliases, but that was purely because I was just producing too much music to be released by one label at that time. I feel that nowadays, people use aliases to be able to produce a specific type of sound that is meant purely for that brand. By doing this, you can disconnect yourself from the pigeon hole mentality that fans have nowadays and step out of your comfort zone without upsetting your fans who only want to hear one side of you.
Im currently working on the Gouryella 2.0 version, and its been a lot of fun. Youre absolutely right. The Gouryella show for me is all about a message that is learned and felt when watching the live experience. I hope 2.0 does that as well. Where the first live show had a few Hello World EP tracks, 2.0 will focus much more on some new stuff and elements from Blueprint.
Ive always been a huge sci-fi fan and wanted to find a way to marry my passion for this with my music. I sort of took the phrase telling a story with my album literally and decided to combine an audio book with a complimenting musical journey. The concept and the storyline were my great inspiration for making the music. Its like a sci-fi movie without the actual motion picture.
Thats a great question Ive always created music Ive liked and compiled into one body of work. Whereas with this album, I had a concept, a muse if you will that inspired me.
I think over the years as an artist Ive grown a lot on a producer level. You are right that this album has a lot of filmic influences compared to the past. And that was the whole point. Trance and film score go perfectly together and the sound scaping that film music requires, really enriches any trance production in my opinion. I do think though, that there are a number of tracks on the album that showcase my trance influences and me being a dance music producer.
Thanks. I love the track too. I think Drums a weapon plays a perfect part in the story. If you listen to the track and the emotions it conveys, you do feel the aggression and that sense of hopelessness that are playing in Lucass mind and in that part of the story.

Im all about melody. Ive always started with a melody as that is what always inspires me first when making a track. The melody is the face of a track.
Thanks. Its humbling to hear this comment. I dont know where I find the inspiration to be honest. It can be anything in daily life. But in the case of Out Of The Blue and the wave of tracks that came after, it was gear. New gear that not many people had yet. So I was lucky to come up with a unique sound, and I capitalised on that. I just know that I am very lucky to be able to have a job that I love and have people appreciate what I do. I guess its comments and questions like this that keep me working and keep doing what I do.
I guess it will always be the track System F Out of the Blue It was the first track that opened major doors for me. My proudest moment in the studio was probably when I finally signed off on Blueprint. That was a real product of passion.
Im working right now on the remixes for some of the Blueprint tracks, Gouryella 2.0 as well as a few projects which I will hopefully be able to share in a few months.
I will be doing quite a few festivals, Ibiza and lots more. Its best to check outferrycorsten.comfor tour dates. Ive been busy with Blueprint and have some great remixes and edits for the show.
Thanks for supporting and believing in me guys. Without you guys, I would not be able to do what I do.
Thanks so much.

In My Memory: Is Trance Tiesto Gone for Good? (Opinion) – Dance Music Northwest
Posted: August 3, 2017 at 10:26 am
Since last year, trance has seen a resurgence that has been years in the making. Sales and artist bookings are up, dedicated trance festivals are growing bigger, and new sub-genre sounds, like Psy Trance, are emerging. Helping lead the charge are trance legends who have returned to the genre after branching off to make more mainstream, progressive sounds- names like Sander van Doorn, W&W, Ferry Corstens Gouryella and Arty. Noticeably absent from this movement back to trance: probably one, if not, the best trance artists of all-time: Tiesto.
Before he became the house music playing, big room pumping, Grammy award-winning superstar he is today, Tijs Michiel Verwest, of the Netherlands, operated in the shadows as DJ Tiesto. Starting his career in the early 90s, Tiesto helped define the trance genre with his uplifting and progressive sounds, in addition to the creation of record labels like Black Hole Recordings and In Trance We Trust. Joining him in his early projects include fellow Dutchmen Ferry Corsten, who, along with Tiesto, created Gouryella, and Armin van Buuren, who Tiesto helped take Armins sound into the mainstream (look how well that has turned out!).
Tiestos debut solo studio album, In My Memory, released in 2001, saw this legend score some of his biggest career hits. Does Flight 643 and Lethal Industry ring a bell?
As trance in its entirety continued to grow, both of these tracks stood the test of time, having been remixed by plenty and featured in sets galore- even to this day. Who could forget when the legendary Markus Schulz dropped 643 at Bliss; Transcendence, here in Seattle, a few months ago?!
In My Memory took Tiestos career to new heights. He began to do global tours, including his USA debut in 2003, and lengthy solo sets- a concept that was new at the time. The idea of one DJ playing alone in front of a crowd of thousands? His groundbreaking Tiesto in Concert solo shows, in 2003, helped pave the way for DJs who aspire to do concerts in massive venues; He showed it could be done.

‘I was in a zombified trance’, alleged victim of Keighley church minister’s sexual assaults tells jury – Bradford Telegraph and Argus
Posted: August 1, 2017 at 6:25 pm
A TEENAGER was in a "zombified" trance when a church minister sexually molested her to drive out demons and lustful spirits, Bradford Crown Court heard.
Now in her 40s, the witness told the jury that Pastor John Wilson abused her over a ten year period when he ran a Pentecostal group in Keighley and Shipley.
The woman said she was suicidal when she was a teenager and Wilson held all day private prayer sessions with her.
She looked on him as a father figure and someone to confide in within the church.
She alleged that Wilson, 70, of Shann Avenue, Keighley, put his hand up her skirt to indecently assault her, and touched her breasts, after putting her in a trance during the prayer sessions.
She told the jury on a video link that she was aged about 15 when the one-to-one prayer sessions with Wilson started.
The woman told the court: "He changed from being nice to being a nasty person; demons, demons, spirits, spirits, all the time, drilling it into you, making you believe he was the only one who could take the pain and suffering away from you."
Wilson denies sexually abusing seven women to rid them of evil spirits. He pleads not guilty to 31 allegations, including two of rape, 24 of indecent assault, four of conspiracy to commit indecent assault and one charge of sexual assault.
He denies 11 charges of indecent assault and one of conspiracy to commit indecent assault against the woman, who was giving evidence yesterday.
Wilson's wife, Mary Wilson, 79, of the same address, pleads not guilty to two charges of indecent assault and a single allegation of conspiracy to commit indecent assault.
Laurence Peterson, 59, of Eric Street, Keighley, denies three charges of indecent assault and four allegations of conspiracy to commit indecent assault.
The woman told the jury that Peterson was present during the prayer sessions but she did not recall him ever touching her.
She said she began attending the Pentecostal church as a young girl. She said she had been abused by a man at a fairground and Wilson offered spiritual comfort.
The woman said Peterson made tea before the prayer sessions and she became "zoned out". She was in a trance and "zombified" when Wilson was abusing her.
"It is so devastating that a person who was in a position of authority would do that," she said.
"He made me an emotional wreck."
She said the abuse continued after she married. She said she woke naked on one occasion with carpet burns on her back.
"It was like I was stuck to the floor in a trance, in a daze. I knew I was naked. I knew he had touched me," she told the jury.
"It just cuts me up inside how he could just do that and get away with it."
The trial continues.

Markus Schulz Drops Heavy Trance Remix of Linkin Park’s In The End [LISTEN] – Your EDM
Posted: July 31, 2017 at 10:27 am
The music world is still coping with the sudden, tragic death ofLinkin Parks frontman and fearless leader, Chester Bennington. For many electronic producers, the bands groundbreaking, genre-shattering music has served as direct inspiration over the years.
In a bittersweetremembrance of the late singer, Markus Schulzhas remixed In The End by Linkin Park into a hardcore trance track that pushes boundaries much like the original did for its time. The track opens strong, with a roar of synths that carry massive amounts of tension up until the haunting notes of In The End come into play. Ever so carefully, the melody is held and tuned to fit a trance anthem as the remix progresses into a heavy yet uplifting celebration of one of Linkin Parks greatest hits.
The In The End remix debuted on Global DJ Broadcast & Tomorrowland 2017 and were sure that wont be the last we hear of it Check it out right here!
