TPS eyes late-start day for TMS, elementaries – Tahlequah Daily Press

Posted: at 5:00 am

The Tahlequah Public School Board is considering a weekly late-start day for its elementary and middle school campuses for the 2017-2018 school year, leaving local parents wondering how it could affect their schedules.

The late start would offer school staff time to meet in their Professional Learning Communities and Site Instructional Councils.

School board member Sharon Ballew said the meetings would allow teachers a chance to go through academic standards, and then come up with strategies on how to teach those standards.

"They could have grade level meetings - vertical meetings," she said. "First grade and second grade might meet together, so second grade can talk with first grade about what they expect those students to know by the time they get into second grade."

Currently, the schools - aside from the high school - begin at 8:10 a.m. On late-start days, classes would begin at 8:40 a.m.

Superintendent Lisa Presley said it wouldn't be feasible to have the meetings during the day, or in the afternoon.

"We've been trying to do it during a school day," she said. "They are just so crunched for time. We tried it a few years ago in the afternoon, and we tried have PLC time in quarterly meetings, but we were not successful in the afternoon or planning it that seldom."

The TPS Facebook page posted a survey for parents to take online Thursday. Many patrons responded with questions relating to drop-off times and whether it would cause extra school days to be added at the end of the year.

Presley said there will likely be a structure in place for parents who have to get to work early to drop off their kids at the regular time. She also said the school would still provide transportation and breakfast, only 30 minutes later.

Ballew said it would not cause the schools to add any extra days to the calendar, because required time is based on minutes, and normally, schools would go over those minutes, anyway, by the end of the year.

"There's just a lot of things that teachers could work on, even in just that 30 minutes," she said. "It could be very beneficial.

These type of meetings would be in place to increase the focus on learning and to make school organizations stronger and more effective.

Presley said that eventually, the schools' "academic performance will be stronger."

What's next

The next regular Tahlequah Board of Education meeting is Thursday, April 13, at 6 p.m. at the board office on Water.

TMW Systems links its TMS with driver retention software – DC Velocity – DC Velocity

Move combines transportation software with TruckRight driver recruiting and retention system.

By DC Velocity Staff

Logistics software provider TMW Systems Inc. said Wednesday it has integrated its TMW.Suite transportation management solution (TMS) with the TruckRight driver recruiting and retention system.

Driver data created or modified within the TruckRight portal can now be pushed automatically to a driverprofile within the TMW.Suite solution, enabling carrier, broker, and third-party logistics provider (3PL) users of TMW.Suite to access up-to-date driver names, license numbers, contact information, and other data without re-keying information, TMW said.

By linking the systems, TMW says it can help transportation companies recruit drivers faster and retain them longer, while using the TMS to integrate and control many operational functions of the end-to-end transportation process.

Truck-Right Data Management Inc.'s TruckRight product provides a paperless workflow that provides automated compliance management and allows transportation companies to manage applicant tracking systems, driver qualification files, learning management systems for online training and orientation, driver/employee portals, and more.

EDAP TMS S.A. (EDAP) Reports Publication of Ablatherm Robotic … – StreetInsider.com

EDAP TMS SA (NASDAQ: EDAP) today announced the publication of a peer-reviewed article that analyzed Ablatherm Robotic HIFU for prostate tissue ablation in patients who had previously undergone radiotherapy treatment. The article concludes that HIFU should be considered as a valuable therapeutic option for carefully selected patients who failed a previous radiotherapy treatment. The article has been published in the January 2017 edition of the prestigious peer-reviewed British Journal of Urology International.

Authored by Pr. Sbastien Crouzet, M.D., Ph.D., from Edouard Herriot Hospital, Lyon, France, and co-authored by lead urologists from nine institutions across France, Germany, UK, Italy and the USA, this retrospective analysis was designed to evaluate the outcomes of Ablatherm Robotic HIFU for the treatment of patients who had been previously treated with radiotherapy and were indicated for additional prostate tissue ablation. The results were compiled from the Ablatherm treatment registry (@-RegistryTM), a multicenter secure online database for patients who have undergone prostate HIFU with Ablatherm. Inclusion criteria for the analysis were applied to the database, resulting in 418 patients with available data. Statistical models were applied to the data, using the longest available follow-up timepoint for each outcome and patient. Based on the Kaplan Meier survivorship analysis of this data, the rates of overall survival, cancer specific survival, and metastasis free survival at 7 years were 72%, 82%, and 81%, respectively.

Pr. Sbastien Crouzet commented: "This is the largest series of salvage patients treated with HIFU and followed for data collection. The results are encouraging, and support the use of Ablatherm Robotic HIFU for these patients who are particularly fragile after the failure of their radiation treatment and are limited to minimally invasive treatment options. Patients who require additional treatment after a radiation therapy may benefit from prostate tissue ablation with HIFU."

Marc Oczachowski, Chief Executive Officer of EDAP TMS, added: "There is a growing number of patients who failed their radiotherapy treatment and require a secondary option; this large and growing market opportunity is the result of an as-yet unmet medical need. Pr. Sbastien Crouzet's clinical publication reconfirms that EDAP's Ablatherm HIFU technology offers a valuable answer to this need and is well positioned to serve this growing population with minimal competition."

TMS the lifeline of local trains – The Indian Express

Posted: March 19, 2017 at 4:33 pm

By: Express News Service | Mumbai | Published:March 15, 2017 2:02 am

Train management system (TMS) a digital board that provides real-time updates of traffic on the suburban system is frequently used by both Central and Western Railways.

The system, according to railway officials, aids in quick collection of information on smooth movement or disruption of trains.

A TMS board consists of station-wise details of trains leaving and entering its platforms. Each section is divided among four colours red signifies that the train has crossed the respective station, green allows movement, yellow hints at slowing down and a double yellow implies that it could soon go green.

Details of level crossings and other technical details of the track are also mentioned.

We keep track of the train system through the digital axle counters (DAC) set up on the tracks. Each movement of on a DAC signifies that the train has crossed over the respective section. Two operators are always in charge to monitor the movement of trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST)-Kurla and Kurla-Kalyan, respectively. Any further delay in the movement of the rake makes the supervising officer take updates from the assistant station manager and inform the authorities concerned, said an official.

TMS was implemented by both Central Railways (CR) and Western Railways (WR) in 2012, at a total cost of Rs 58.76 crore. It replaced the earlier practice of listing details of train movement by having to call up station managers at frequent intervals.

On WR, the TMS records train movement from Churchgate Virar, whereas CR uses it between CST-Kalyan. We are planning on increasing it beyond Kalyan and also on the harbor line, said a senior railway official.

TMS also aids officials to decide the frequency at which mega-blocks need to be taken.

Operators in the earlier system would collect information about the departure of trains from important nominated stations. These were recorded in a pre-printed chart, where movement of services was marked after every thirty minutes. Cases of diversion and cancellations would only be informed after the operator was apprised of the same by a railway official.

Through TMS, we are able to take quick decision whenever there is any disruption. It helps us transfer services between two sections without having to take suggestions. Each detail is available to us on the board. Not only does it save up on our labour and clerical work, we are also able to make better punctuality report of train operations, the official added.

Commuters can now see the expected arrival time of trains on display boards at platforms. They are also informed about any cancellation of services through platform announcements.

For few operators at TMS, it is a challenge to be attentive yet they are in constant communication with the officials. During the recent crisis on harbor line, when services were suspended for sixteen hours, the TMS team arrived as early as 5 am to the office and worked till the problem was resolved. We are the reason behind smooth operations of a congested suburban network, said Nikunt Madhav, chief controller for CST-Kurla section.
