Johnson Gets First Taste of INDYCAR on Oval in Texas Test – INDYCAR

Posted: at 12:29 am

Jimmie Johnson entered a new phase in his journey in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES on Monday, Aug. 30, testing on an oval for the first time at Texas Motor Speedway.

Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Johnson is driving the No. 48 Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing in the road and street races in the 2021 season as an NTT INDYCAR SERIES rookie. But he moved back to familiar turf he won seven times at TMS during his legendary 19 seasons in the Cup Series by driving on the 1.44-mile, high-banked oval.

Johnson stressed today was an important milestone along the path toward his schedule for his second NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, in 2022. But more conversations and maybe more laps are needed before any decision is made.

Today is really my first step toward the Indy 500 or potentially racing on ovals, Johnson said. I feel like I need to work through things that make me comfortable with the car on track, and more test sessions are needed on track before I can make a decision, certainly more conversations with my family, with Chip, with our sponsors. There are a lot of moving pieces to this.

Im just very thankful that the team was able to identify a day and say, Hey, lets just go get some laps and see what you think. And then well know from here, once I have a day or two to digest it, what that next step might be and do we look to go on to another oval and try to get more experience, working toward a race someday down the road.

The test was unique because it started at 6 a.m. local time, in darkness and under the lights at TMS. Testing continued until noon local time for Johnson in the No. 48 Carvana/The American Legion Honda. Most of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES races at Texas have taken place in the evening or night since the track was added as an annual stop for the series in 1997.

Johnsons oval debut attracted plenty of star power from within the Ganassi team. Team driver advisor Dario Franchitti was present, as were Ganassi drivers Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan. Those three have combined to win 11 INDYCAR SERIES championships and five Indianapolis 500s. The trio also knows Texas, as Dixon has six INDYCAR series wins at the track, while Kanaan and Franchitti each have entered Victory Lane there once.

Franchitti also was able to offer unique insight for Johnson, as he raced in the Cup Series in 2008 in between long stints in the INDYCAR SERIES. He knows there are few similarities between the 3,400-pound Cup car and the 1,655-pound NTT INDYCAR SERIES car.

It would be like a person that plays cricket, plays for the English team, and has a bat and a ball and plays baseball. Has a bat and a ball everything else is different, Franchitti said. Thats the difference between a stock car and an Indy car.

Everything you learn on the way up and everything you learn when youre at the top in either of those fields doesnt prepare you in any way to do the other. In fact, it hurts you. Its a challenging thing that Jimmie is doing, but hes done very well so far.

Johnsons next NTT INDYCAR SERIES race is the Grand Prix of Portland on Sunday, Sept. 12 in Portland, Oregon.

Asian Pac J Cancer Prev. 2021 Aug 1;22(8):2569-2576. doi: 10.31557/APJCP.2021.22.8.2569.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Reliable blood markers for aiding lung cancer (LC) diagnosis and differentiating LC from tuberculosis are lacking in India.

METHODOLOGY: In this single-centre, cross-sectional, real-world study, serum levels of 5 TMs (CEA, CYFRA 21-1, SCC, ProGRP, NSE) were measured from consented patients with suspicious lung nodules who were candidates for biopsy, and also from healthy controls. TM level measurement was done through electrochemiluminescent immunoassay, followed by histological diagnosis on the biopsied specimen. Using package insert cut-offs, sensitivity and specificity of the 5 TMs were evaluated individually and in combination. Using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves of individual TMs, the ability of CEA, CYFRA 21-1, and ProGRP taken together was evaluated for its ability to differentiate LC from no-LC.

RESULTS: Out of 178 subjects, 160 had LC (147 NSCLC; 13 SCLC). NSCLC patients had higher median values of CYFRA 21-1 and SCC; SCLC patients had higher median values of CEA, NSE, and ProGRP. Adenocarcinoma-NSCLC patients had higher median values of CEA, CYFRA 21-1, NSE, and ProGRP; squamous-NSCLC patients had higher median value of SCC. For differentiating LC from no-LC, the combination of all 5 TMs (sensitivity:97.5%, specificity:33.3%) and combination of CEA, CYFRA 21-1 and ProGRP (sensitivity:91.3%, specificity:88.9%) were found suitable.

CONCLUSION: Combination of all 5 TMs, and combination of CEA, CYFRA 21-1, and ProGRP represents an easy and non-invasive method for aid in LC diagnosis that does not require technical expertise. TM evaluation can also supplement histological diagnosis of LC.

Trucker Tools Announces Integration With Port TMS – Transport Topics Online

Trucker Tools announced Aug. 26 a platform integration with transportation management software provider Port TMS.

Port TMS provides a cloud-based platform for brokers and 3PLs to improve workflow, reduce labor costs and enable fast and effective partner integrations, it said. The Trucker Tools partnership is intended to help the company enhance in-transit truckload shipment visibility for its customers.

There are many brokers, particularly small to midsized brokers, in the market today that are trying to figure out the digitization journey and how to move forward, Trucker Tools CEO Prasad Gollapalli said in a statement. The combination of Port TMS and Trucker Tools provides a competitive solution for brokers looking for better technology and better customer service through affordable tools that can help grow the business and give them digital freight management capabilities the same as the big players.

Port TMS will incorporate a suite of driver and broker digital freight management tools as part of the partnership. The integration is also intended to provide customers with real-time predictive digital freight-matching tools to streamline access and management of truckload capacity.

The real separator for Port TMS was digital freight matching, its ease of use and ongoing support, Mark Groves, vice president of sales for Port TMS, said in a statement. For a relatively reasonable investment, you can not only track your loads, get status updates inside the software and inform your customer, but you can participate in a digital freight management platform that is reasonably priced with good carriers already on board and good functionality. And its exceptionally reliable. Transport Topics

Telluride Mountain School (TMS) Head Andy Shoff usually opens the school year with a mantra around which he rallies the school community. This years mantra Known, Supported and Connected emerged as faculty examined professional development and the importance of supporting students and each other.

This past week, as TMS faculty and staff returned to campus to prepare for the Tuesdays opening day, they reaffirmed commitment to this years mantra by increasing social-emotional programming and supporting well-being and mental health for both students and teachers.

We need to know ourselves, we need to support our colleagues, and we need to be connected as a school, explained Shoff. When we can do that, we can do the same things for our students and we can really live out our core mission and values.

A vital part of that mission has been realized in recent years as the school has implemented the International Baccalaureate (IB) program in grades 11 and 12.

We didnt adopt the IB program to change our mission values, explained Upper School Director Jamie Hozack. We partnered with IB to help us improve our program, particularly for high school students heading to college.

IB exams were administered in May and students received results in July. All four of last years graduating seniorsearned either the IB Diploma (submitting student work and taking exams in all areas) or an IB certificate (submitting student work and taking an exam in an area of interest, while still participating in classes in the other areas). For students across the world who choose to take the IB Diploma exams, the pass rate is generally between 80 and 90 percent.

This is the third class of TMS students to attempt any of the IB achievements, and this really marks progress as a school preparing kids to be successful in meeting those expectations, Hozack said.

TMS iswelcoming five new teachers and staff to its roster this year. Todd Smith, a practicing artist who has worked in public, interactive and multi-disciplinary art installation works and as an art professor in Kentucky, is teaching art, mostly in the Upper School.

Lea Gibbs now serves as Upper School humanities teacher and as the all-school literacy specialist.

Within the context of our mantra, some of the student support we are seeking is academic, noted Shoff. So were boosting our academic support for groups and individual students to uncork challenges they might have.

Ann Anders, who relocated to Telluride after 30 years of teaching Montessori in the Washington D.C. area, is working in a mentoring and support capacity at TMS Montessori preschool and kindergarten. Mikhael Grundhofer is a new Montessori assistant while Ridgway resident Amber King is the new front office manager for the school.

With enrollment looking similar to last year with classes fully enrolled across most grades, TMS continues to reckon with COVID-19 protocols.

The good news is that the state really wants kids in school and we have a much better understanding of how to keep kids in school even with COVID, said Shoff. Quarantine guidelines are different mainly in that routine school exposure wont lead to classroom quarantines. So we dont have to be as concerned about co-horting and mixing as we were last year which is great because that allows us to bring back a lot of our multi-age programming and community features.

While TMS didnt have any school-based exposures last year and no mandatory quarantines or shut-downs, Shoff acknowledges that the Delta variant may present new challenges. TMS will not offer a remote learning option this year, just as they didnt last year, because the approach doesnt mesh effectively with TMS programming.

We are, however, prepared to support kids in quarantine or illness, just not through a hybrid program, said Shoff.

Like the Telluride school district, TMS will also begin the school year with universal masking for all students, teachers and visitors.

Which also means we dont have to exclude visitors this year, Shoff noted.

Shoff is considering how COVIDCheck Colorado surveillance testing may be part of the plan this year as it was last year.

Most of our students are under 12-years-old and cannot yet be vaccinated, he said. But were in line with the county metrics for vaccinated faculty, staff and students.

Traditionally, the opening week at TMS serves as orientation.

Getting to know, support and connect our students with their classmates, their teachers and the entire student body, said Shoff. Its during that first week when we do our multi-age activities and set up all our systems for success in classrooms. And we always have elements of service, adventure and outdoor learning.

England v India: Ollie Robinson takes 5-65 to seal huge Headingley win – BBC Sport

Posted: at 12:08 pm

India 78 (Anderson 3-6) & 278 (Pujara 91, Kohli 55, Robinson 5-65)England 432 (Root 121)England won by an innings and 76 runsScorecard

England broke India's resistance to surge to victory by an innings and 76 runs in the third Test at Headingley and level the series at 1-1.

Ollie Robinson expertly utilised the second new ball on the fourth morning to claim 5-65 and hasten India to 278 all out.

After India had threatened to make things difficult for England by moving to 215-2 on day three, Robinson removed both overnight batsmen.

Cheteshwar Pujara was lbw not playing a stroke for 91 before Virat Kohli, who had already overturned being given out caught behind, edged to first slip for 55.

It was the beginning of India losing their last eight wickets for 63 runs - at one stage they lost three for two - as the game was over 15 minutes before lunch.

It gave Joe Root an England record 27th Test win as captain, in front of his home crowd.

The fourth Test at The Oval begins on Thursday, with the series concluding at Old Trafford from 10 September.

This result leaves the series tantalisingly poised, not only in the scoreline, but because of how the fortunes of these sides have been reversed.

England were largely saved by the rain in the drawn first Test at Trent Bridge, then suffered a devastating final-day defeat in the second game at Lord's.

Yet here they hustled India out for 78 after losing the toss and piled up 432 to move towards what was their first win in eight Tests.

And although India hinted towards mounting another famous Headingley comeback on Friday, it was always fanciful - no side has overturned such a large first-innings deficit to win a Test.

All of England's selection decisions were correct. Haseeb Hameed and Dawid Malan made runs, while Craig Overton impressed with the ball. The hosts may also have Mark Wood and Chris Woakes available for The Oval.

For the first time in this series, the problems belong to India.

Sussex seamer Robinson is playing only his fourth Test, but has become a key component of the England attack despite the controversy over offensive historical tweets that dogged his debut in June.

He has history at Headingley, too. He played 10 games for Yorkshire in 2013 and 2014, only to be sacked for a "number of unprofessional actions", which he put down to missing being at home in Kent.

Here, on his return as an international bowler, Robinson was superb in his use of the crucial new ball, delighting a boisterous crowd that was aware of the importance of the opening hour.

Pujara's judgement failed him in the fourth over of the day when he left a hooping inswinger that was shown to be hitting off stump.

England thought they had the vital wicket of Kohli when he was given out off James Anderson - the India captain even started to walk off - only for the review to show he had clipped his pad with his bat.

Still, Robinson, with bounce and seam movement, had him fence to Root, then the frenetic Rishabh Pant steered to third slip. Robinson completed his second Test five-for when Ishant Sharma was caught behind.

In between, Anderson took the edge of Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali bowled Mohammed Shami, and Overton took the final two wickets to end with 3-47.

England captain Joe Root on TMS: "To bounce back in the fashion we have done is the most impressive thing. The bowling on the first day was amazing, then the way the openers played and the substantial partnerships we had.

"India played exceptionally well yesterday and made it hard work for us, but those wickets were a product of the hard work we put in yesterday. We were good at squeezing the control of the game."

England bowler James Anderson on Sky Sports: "We're missing quite a few bowlers which shows what depth we do have. We're missing the likes of Broad, Archer and Woakes - guys who have done fantastic job for us over the last few years - so to have guys come in and keep performing shows the depth we have."

India captain Virat Kohli on TMS: "We were always up against it from the first innings, not enough runs on the board and it's very difficult to get back into the game. Their consistency with the ball this morning put us under a lot of pressure. Robinson has bowled a lot in England and swings the ball both ways, so in these conditions he was a real find for them."

Ex-England batter Ebony Rainford-Brent on TMS: "The main thing is how England bounced back. You saw the loss at Lord's and wonder if it would mentally leave a dent but they've come back doubly strong."
