Monday always offers a healthy portion of NBA games to start the week. The eight-game slate gets underway at 7 pm ET with the Knicks at 76ers and closes with three West Coast games. Lets dive into some of my favorite wagers for this slate on DraftKings Sportsbook.

This line opened at GSW -2 on Sunday evening before the close of the Warriors-Rockets game and might move even further, but the Warriors are still the play. The Hawks are a good team, but theyre 4-6. Atlantas schedule has not been easy and its not going to get any easier on Monday night. The Hawks have dropped some games to teams that they should have beaten, so its hard to imagine that they steal a game from the Warriors on the road.

Golden State is on the second half of a back-to-back, but its their first of the season and they are rested. The Warriors have won most of their games comfortably, so Steve Kerr has been able to limit his starters minutes. Atlanta is a little bit fresher and are healthy, but they are in the middle of a West Coast swing and have lost five of their last six games (1-5 ATS).

Ultimately this game comes down to the talent, not the legs. Golden State is 8-1 because theyre first in defensive efficiency and third in True Shooting Percentage. Basketball is pretty simple: score points and stop your opponent from scoring points. Atlanta is 4-6 because they have the fourth-worst defensive efficiency rating and are 11th worst in True Shooting Percentage.

The Knicks home loss to the Cavs on Sunday was bad, but its not that bad. The Cavs are 6-4 this season and the Knicks had a terrible night from several of their players. Even on a bad night, New York was only trailing the Cavs by seven points with four minutes remaining, but then Cleveland nailed three consecutive threes and that was all she wrote. The Knicks were off and Ricky Rubio was 8-9 from the three-point line, it happens.

Playing the second game of a back-to-back on the road is less than ideal, but they will have a rested Kemba Walker that sat of Sunday. Less appealing is the matchup, but thats always where a good return can be found. Philadelphia has won six straight and has covered in five consecutive games. Whats more impressive is that theyre doing this without Tobias Harris, Danny Green and Ben Simmons.

Philly has been punching above their weight class on this run, but how long can that last? Shake Milton played over 30 minutes in his last two games and had a Plus/Minus of +6 and +13 with at least 13 points and seven rebound in each game that cant last. Furkan Korkmaz was 7-9 from beyond the arc on Saturday against Chicago that cant last. The 76ers might get Danny Green back on Monday, but they will also be without Mattise Thybulle and Isaiah Joe again. Doc Rivers ran an eight-man rotation on Saturday and Thursday, and the game before that, it was an eight-man rotation outside of four minutes. All signs point toward a collapse coming soon.

The last time Philadelphia lost, it was was against the Knicks. In a couple ways these teams are very similar. Both are in the bottom half of the league in defensive efficiency and the top 5 in offensive efficiency. Philly has health issues and New York is on a back-to-back. Philly is the favorite because theyre at home and are hot, but regression is coming and this is great spot to buy New York and sell Philly.

Brooklyn is a good defensive team (their 99.8 defensive efficiency rating is the fourth-best this season), but this is the back-end of a road back-to-back for the Nets. This is their second back-to-back this season, and in the first one, they lost to Hornets on the front-end by 16 points after being favored by 13 points. That loss had more to do with their erratic play on offense due to the absence of Kyrie Irving and James Hardens shot struggles. That shouldnt factor into this bet, but the point is, Brooklyn is far from complete, especially on a back-to-back. Not to mention, the Nets are the fifth-oldest team in the NBA. This is a defense to take seriously, but not fear.

DeMar DeRozan and the Bulls offense should be taken seriously as well. They rank eighth in offensive efficiency despite a slow start from DeRozan and an injured Zach LaVine. In DeRozans first five games with this offense, he shot 45% and 47% from the field in his first two and was below 40% in his next three. However, those games were not complete duds as his True Shooting Percentage was north of 47% in every contest thanks to his ability get to the line and make free throws. Over the last four games, DeRozans shot has begun to fall (59%, 75%, 59% and 47% FG%). His last performance is truer to his career field goal percentage of 46%, but anything over that will be gladly accepted. However, 46% will work with his usage rate of above 30% and 34 minutes per game.

The kicker is that DeRozan is getting to the line and scoring freebies. DeRozan has always been an excellent free throw shooter and managed to work his way to the line for 6.4 chances per contest. Its early, but with his style of play, the new foul rules have not affected his ability to draw fouls as he is averaging 7.8 free throw attempts per game this season. However the biggest change this season the one we have all been waiting for has been his ability to take and knock down threes. DeRozan is a notoriously hesitant chucker averaging 1.5 three-point attempts and making only 28% of those threes over his career. This season, hes taking 2.1 attempts per game and is making 42.1% of those attempts. This does not make him a Hall of Famer, but it does suggest that he should clear this over.

DeRozan is averaging 26.8 points per game this season after a slow start, and hes averaged 23.1 points per game over the last nine seasons on much slower, less offensively productive teams.

Corrections & Clarifications: A casino near Payson opened its sportsbook in September. A previousversion of the article did not include that information.

The first sportsbook inside a tribal casino in the Phoenix area is scheduled to host a grand opening on Friday at Vee Quiva, one of the Gila River Indian Community casinos.

The grand opening of the BetMGM sportsbook at the West Valley casino is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Later that day, from 5-7 p.m., the casino plans guest appearances from NASCAR drivers Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick.

BetMGM is the sports-betting division for MGM Resorts International and is a partnership with Entain Holdings.

Arizona lawmakers approved sports and fantasy gambling earlier this year, with the first sportsbooks opening in September. The new law allows for mobile sports betting, with several online gambling sites now operational.

A few sports venues have opened sportsbooks or at least kiosks where gamblers can place bets in person, but the BetMGM venue at Vee Quiva is the first in Phoenix inside an operating casino where gamblers have other gambling options.

The casino is at15091 S. Komatke Lane in Laveen Village, near 51st Avenue and the Loop 202.

Gila River Casinos also operate the Wild Horse Pass and Lone Butte Casinos near Chandler, with a fourth casino under construction.

Wild Horse Pass and Lone Butte are scheduled to open full-fledged sportsbooks Nov. 11 to coincide with Thursday night football.

The Gila River casinos have been offering sports-betting kiosks as they built the sportsbooks.

Unlike sportsbooks operated by professional sports teams at or near their stadiums, the casino's book will have bartop slots.

"We really look to include the entire experience," saidDominic Orozco, Gila River Hotels and Casinos' chief strategic marketing officer."You can sit in there on game day and place your bets, then go play slots after."

The sportsbook at Vee Quivawill have seating for about 150 customers and 20 betting kiosks as well as live ticket writers and a patio, he said.

"(The space) used to have a panoramic door opening to the outside," Orozco said. "We wanted to keep that. We made fold-up garage doors that can be open during good weather."

During certain sporting events the sportsbook will have a DJ who will make announcements of special promotions during commercial breaks, and the space is equipped with LED lighting that can, for example, be set to Cardinal Red during the team's games, he said.

At the Wild Horse Pass opening on Nov. 11, the sportsbook will host former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jake Plummer, Orozco said.

The Lone Butte sportsbook will include two blackjack tables, Orozco said. On Nov. 13, that sportsbook will host UFC fighters as part of its grand opening celebration.

BetMGM also will operate a sportsbook at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, where the Arizona Cardinals play, in a three-way partnership with the tribe, the companies announced earlier this year. That sportsbook is scheduled to open next year.

Mazatzal Hotel & Casino near Payson opened a sportsbook with TwinSpires in September, shortly after betting went live in the state.

On Monday, November 1st the Seminole Tribe launched its mobile sports betting app in Florida, making online sports betting accessible and more widespread in The Sunshine State. The Seminole Tribe partnered with Hard Rock to release their Hard Rock Sportsbook app, allowing anyone who is at least 18 years old with a smartphone or smart device to sign up, deposit, and place wagers on football, basketball, hockey, soccer, and more.

First In Florida: Hard Rock Sportsbook App

The Hard Rock Sportsbook is the first to launch a Florida sports betting app but if youre familiar with online sportsbooks, you wont notice too many differences between the Hard Rocks app and other major competitors such as BetMGM, FanDuel, or DraftKings.

The State of Sports Betting in Florida

The launch of the Hard Rock app arguably slipped under the radar. In fact, representatives of the Seminole Tribe declined to comment about the launch.

But nevertheless, Monday, 11/1 is an historic day for sports betting in Florida as it is now live in the state despite ongoing litigation in Federal Court, where Governor DeSantis May legislation legalizing sports betting is being challenged.

As per the May compact, tribal casinos are aiming to have a big hand in the future of sports betting in Florida as all online sports bets will be facilitated via servers controlled by tribal casinos

However, it does come at a cost as The Seminole Tribe is expected to have to pay billions to the state in return for sports betting and other benefits, such as being able to offer craps and roulette at tribal casinos.

The May deal also requires the Seminole Tribe to partner with pari-mutuels and provide them with 60% of the profits. To date, the tribe announced the following partners as part of their shortlist: Palm Beach Kennel Club, Hialeah Park Casino, Ocala Gainesville Poker and Ocala Breeders Sales Co., Tampa Bay Downs, and TGT Poker & Racebook in Tampa.

Despite the launch of the Hard Rock sportsbook app and the tribes first payment of $37 million dollars to the state of Florida, parts of the May deal still may be changed if a federal judge sides with the Florida pari-mutuel owners challenging parts of the May compact.

Additionally, in an attempt at diversifying the Florida sports betting market, DraftKings and FanDuel have financially supported an initiative to legalize sports betting at professional sports arenas, pari-mutuel properties, and other online platforms.

Their proposal would be on the November 2022 election ballot if it can collect enough signatures and get Florida Supreme Court approval of the wording. Until then, the Seminole Tribe and their Hard Rock app will be one of, if not the, primary option for sports bettors in Florida.

All had been quiet on the New York sports betting front until Tuesday afternoon, when the New York Post reported three key things:

New York had a unique licensing process in which sportsbooks teamed up to submit bids together. The first super bid included DraftKings, FanDuel, Bally Bet and BetMGM.

The second group is made up of odds-provider Kambi, PointsBet, Caesars, Wynn, Empire Resorts (Resorts World) and Rush Street (BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse).

The Posts report means New York would license eight platform providers and nine operators, more than initially expected.

Theres a third group led by Fanatics and Penn National/Barstool Sportsbook, which may be on the outside looking in, at least to start, but its possible they get added later.

The Post reported that Fanatics has not received the same paperwork as the other groups at this point.

The other applicants included Bet365, theScore and FOX Bet.

New York will have among the most unfavorable rules for operators with a $25M licensing fee and 51% tax rate on profits, tied with New Hampshire for the highest nationally. That could lead to fewer promotional and free bets, and worse hold on certain markets.

The tax rate would drop to 50% with 10-12 operators and to 35% with 13 total operators in the market.

New York has allowed retail sports betting since June of 2019 at four casinos, all at least an hour from New York City.

Sports betting is legal in Indiana. But do we have to be besieged, literally under attack, by gambling ads while watching football games on TV?

Apparently so.

You might take some time now to come up with alternatives to listening to the ads. Here are some ideas:

Write a letter to the NCAA asking the Indy-based organization to urge youth to be cautious if they ever gamble. Now is the time because you know in your heart that March Madness will be sponsored by sportsbook ads.

Go to a library and borrow a biography of Julius Caesar so youll have some idea of what the characters in the commercials are really about.

Boycott watching any show with Caesars Sportsbook stars Patton Oswalt will you really miss A.P. Bio? or J.B. Smoove yes, even turning off Curb Your Enthusiasm. (Its already easy to snub movies with Wynn Resorts Ben Affleck or Shaquille ONeal. No loss in shunning those guys.)

Google former political ads. Be thankful that sports betting ads arent as mean-spirited.

Seriously, why would you bet on the Colts, Pacers or Fever?

Travel to Ohio where sports betting is still banned, but you may only have a few weeks left.

Revive your long-forgotten interest in scrapbooking.

Dont bet. Remind yourself that you are smarter than the TV.

Use the mute button.

Dont watch sports on TV.

Launch marks BetMGM's first retail sportsbook in Arizona and Phoenix's first in-casino sportsbook

In their first fight in April 2021, Namajunas stunned Weili with a high kick early in the fight and won via KO/TKO to take the belt from Weili.
