Boston Celtics at Milwaukee Bucks odds, picks and prediction – USA TODAY Sportsbook Wire

Posted: at 6:06 pm

The Boston Celtics (16-16) head to the Cream City for a Christmas day game against the Milwaukee Bucks (21-13) at the Fiserv Forum. The tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Celtics vs. Bucks odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Boston has alternated between winning and losing over the last six games with the most recent being a 111-101 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers as 6.5-point home favorites.

The Celtics are 3-3 straight-up (SU), 3-2-1 ATS and 2-4 O/U over the past two weeks with the 12th-ranked non-garbage time net rating (plus-0.3 points per 100 possessions), according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Milwaukee has won back-to-back games over the Houston Rockets 128-106 Wednesday and at the Dallas Mavericks 102-95 Thursday.

The Bucks are 5-3 SU, 4-4 ATS and 3-5 O/U in the last 14 days with the 11th-best non-garbage time net rating (plus-2.3 points per 100 possessions), per CTG.

Boston won and covered its first two meetings of the season with Milwaukee, and either side of the total cashed in those two contests. The most recent was a Celtics 117-103 beatdown (Dec. 13) when both teams were at full health.

Celtics 115, Bucks 109

Milwaukee received positive news Christmas Eve when it was announced Giannis would be a game-time decision after clearing the health and safety protocols.

Boston has played much better this season against top-10 teams in net rating. For instance, the Celtics are seventh in non-garbage time net rating (minus-1.3 points per 100 possessions) and 10th in spread differential (minus-0.5 ATS margin) vs. teams top-10 in efficiency differential (CTG).

Whereas the Bucks are 22nd in non-garbage time net rating (minus-6.8 points per 100 possessions) and the second-worst in spread differential (minus-7.5 ATS margin), per CTG.

Also, this could be the one day on the whole NBA calendar thats popular for money line parlays. So I could see the sportsbooks needing the Celtics to pull off an upset to bust a bunch of money line parlays, which include the Bucks and other big Christmas day favorites.

In fact, according to the Yahoo! Sports app, 92% of the cash is on Milwaukees money line at the time of publishing. Id guess that most of the people betting the Bucks (-205) are doing so with it parlayed with another favorite.

SlightLEANto the CELTICS (+230) because I like Boston plus the points and want to sprinkle on the underdogs money line.

DefinitelyBETtheCELTICS +6.5 (-107) heavier than or instead of Bostons money line.

But, Id wait closer till tip-off before making the wager. because if Giannis gets ruled in then Milwaukee could easily balloon up to a 7-point favorite. Obviously, thats a tough ask on Christmas day but thats the nature of the business.

Plus the Celtics are one of the few teams equipped to face the Bucks double-headed wing monster in Giannis and Khris Middleton. Boston All-StarsJayson TatumandJaylen Brownare a legit one-two punch that has the talent to neutralize Giannis and Middleton.

Furthermore, both teams play a high frequency of isolation offense: Boston runs the second-most action out of isolation and Milwaukee runs the fourth-most. But, the Celtics rank higher in offensive efficiency out of isolation plays and the Bucks have the fourth-worst defensive efficiency vs. iso-ball.

LEANto theOVER 220.5 (-110) for a small wager, if at all, because I much prefer the Boston side more than the total in this game.

However, the first Celtics-Bucks meeting this season snapped a six-game streak of Overs played between these two teams. And the total only went Under by 3 points.

Lastly, according to Pregame.com and the Yahoo! Sports app, vastly more money has been wagered on the Under, which has caused the total to be lowered from the 234.5-point opening total. My instinct is to fade such a large line swing.

Charlie Woods Major Odds Listed at European Sportsbook – The Action Network

Posted: at 6:06 pm

Seeing Charlie Woods play with his father, Tiger, at this weekends PNC Championship had at least some bettors asking: When can I get in on this action?

Anyone wanting to jump the market and get money down on 12-year-old Charlie to win the Masters some day will have to wait. At least in the United States.

Only one sportsbook in one state FanDuel in Connecticut got approval to offer odds on the PNC Tournament, which featured 20 golf champions paired in a scramble with a family member. FanDuel Spokesman Kevin Hennessy said the company ultimately decided to pass on offering betting due to the optics of betting on minors. As for betting on Charlie?

No gaming commission would allow us and we wouldnt offer it due to the fact that he is not a professional, Hennessy said.

Outside of the U.S., these types of bets are popular. In 2004, Ladbrokes offered Rory McIlroys father, Gerry, 500/1 odds on his son to win The Open Championship.

Gerry cashed in to the tune of winning more than $340,000.

Ladbrokes is offering odds on Woods to win a major before the age of 30, but the odds areinsanely short at +1000 (bet $100, profit $1000).

The interest comes after Charlie shined once again next to his dad as the two finished second in the tournament. Charlie took advantage of the platform, hitting remarkable shots throughout. But 10-1 odds on a 12-year-old to win a major in the next 18 years isnt a bet anyone would recommend. In his most recent junior tournament competing against 11-to-13 year olds, Charlie finished 8th out of 14 participants in the South Florida Fall Junior Open.

Ladbrokes says it receives thousands of requests each year, so much so that they offer fixed long-term odds of 1000-1 for any child under the age of six to play for England and 500-1 to play in the Premier League.

The grandfather of Harry Wilson made himself $165,000 doing just that. When Harry was 18 months old, Wilsons grandfather bet $65 on Wilson to one day play international soccer at 2500-1 odds. Wilson became the youngest player for Wales in 2013.

The overseas betting on future events isnt just limited to child stars.

In April 1964, a London man was given 1000-1 odds by William Hill that a man should land on the moon by Dec. 31, 1969. When they did in the summer of 1969, David Threlfell won $24,000.

Bills vs. Patriots predictions: Picks, best bets for Week 16 NFL matchup – DraftKings Nation

Posted: at 6:06 pm

After an error filled loss last week to the Colts that surely left Bill Belichick in a sour mood, more than usual, the New England Patriots are back home this week for a rematch with the Buffalo Bills that could determine the AFC East title.

The last time these two teams met, back in Week 13, the Patriots held the Bills to just 230 yards of offense on the way to a 14-10 win for New England. The Patriots only put up 241 yards in that one, 222 of those on the ground as they dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Colts snapped their two-game skid with a win over the Panthers last week, but beating the Patriots will be a much taller order. Kickoff for this one is at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Here, well take a look at our picks for best bets for the Bills-Patriots matchup in Week 16 of the NFL season. Odds come via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Spread: Patriots -2.5Point total: 43.5Moneyline: Bills +115, Patriots -135

Pick against the spread: Patriots -2.5

The Bills have failed to cover in six of their last nine games. With the AFC East title on the line and the Patriots coming off a mistake-plagued loss to the Colts last week, this feels like one of those games where Bill Belichick will have things wired pretty tight.

Over/under: Under 43.5

The last time these two teams played there were a total of 24 points on the board when it ended. The Patriots put a cap on Buffalos offense in that one, controlling the line of scrimmage. Expect a similar playbook this week.

Preferred player prop: Josh Allen under 246.5 passing yards (-115)

You have to go all the way back to Week 6 for the last time the Patriots allowed an opponent to pass for more than 247 yards. Even in last weeks loss, the Colts managed less than 300 total yards and just 49 on the ground.

Detroit Lions vs. Atlanta Falcons Betting Odds, Trends and Picks for NFL Week 16 on FanDuel Sportsbook – NESN.com

Posted: at 6:06 pm

Sports bettors are faced with a challenging question this season. Do they bet early in the lookahead market to get the best of the number or bet later in the week when all the COVID-19 dust has settled? Both options have inherent flaws, so any handicap must be based on sound information. Bettors also have to stay abreast of the leagues COVID-19 protocols along with the requirements for players to test out. If youre wondering why this is important, its because this Lions-Falcons game is wrought with COVID-19 implications.

On Monday, Detroit added starting quarterback Jared Goff to the reserve/COVID-19 list. Goff can still play on Sunday if he can produce a negative test before Sunday. However, things are now at a point that bookmakers are still putting up lines even amidst the uncertainty.

Atlanta is as high as a six-point favorite, but this line likely reflects Goff being out. The reality is that the NFL recently relaxed the requirements for players to return to action from COVID-19. As a result, the odds for teams to get their players back sooner are better, yet its not accounted for in the point spread. This makes the favorite in this spot a bit overvalued.

If we look at the total, which is now as low as 42, bookmakers are projecting a lower-scoring game. That makes each point even more valuable in the game, and in this spot, youre better off having the extra points in your pocket with the underdog.

Lastly, laying six points with Matt Ryan has been a losing proposition of late. In his past 20 games in this spot, Ryan is 6-14 for -7.97 units.

Take the points with the Lions on the road.

The Aging Curve is Cruel But Real, Wrigley Sportsbook Hiccup, Memory Lane, and Other Cubs Bullets – bleachernation.com

Posted: December 13, 2021 at 2:07 am

Well last night succckkkkked in Chicago sports, and tonight doesnt figure to be much better (unless youre hoping a Packers blowout is finally the final final straw for Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace).

Oof. I kinda hate seeing this laid so bare, even though we know and have know for a long time that its been a true reflection of the aging curve in the game for position players:

As you can see, yes, sure, some guys do put up tremendous numbers after age 30. But for the most part, the reason we know that is because the guys whove done it really stick out in our memories. The Beltres and Ortizs are extremely rare! Even a guy like Ben Zobrist, who played deep into his 30s and is thought of as a guy who broke out late and aged well, put up over 20 WAR in the THREE seasons approaching age 30, and then totaled 25.9 WAR for the rest of his career (the next EIGHT years combined). In other words, if youd had the chance to land Zobrist for the best years of his career on a long-term deal, you still wouldve expected to get his best years in the first three seasons (28, 29, 30), despite him being a guy who aged really well and had longevity. This is a reminder of why teams are so reluctant to sign free agent position players to monster long-term deals unless they know they are, right now, in a very good position to compete and win at a high level youre simply extremely likely to get the best of a player before he turns 30.

The things to think about there as they relate to the 2022 Cubs: Carlos Correa is 27, so theres a little more runway than for a typical free agent, but the point still stands; the late breakout guys for the Cubs last year Wisdom, Ortega, Schwindel are all already 30, or will be next year. No, 30 isnt some magical bright line where everything changes, but people still seem to think of it as the physical peak for players (probably because it looks like such a clean line at a round number). In reality, for position players, its a range from around 25 to around 28.

All the more reason for the players to want to make sure they get paid earlier in their careers in this new CBA, yes? (Also, youll note that this is about position players, because the aging curve for pitchers, while similar, comes just a little bit later, and is a lot more varied depending on how a pitcher does his thing.)

Although the Cubs have received the approvals necessary to construct a large sportsbook at Wrigley Field, and although there is already a plan in place to construct it with DraftKings, there is now a hurdle at the city level. Several aldermen are throwing up roadblocks to the overall plan to allow sports betting facilities at sports stadiums around the city. I think you know how this goes eventually, itll get smoothed over and figured out, since theres far too much money in it for the teams and the city. But in the meantime, therell be political wrangling until the right people are granted the rightconsiderations. There had been hope that the sportsbook could be completed by late 2022 my guess has always been that the Cubs would want it open for business for the start of the next football season but Im not sure thats realistic.

This was awesome, and well say nothing else about that particular September:

Also, Oliver Perez? Still an active MLB pitcher! He hasnt thrown much the last couple years (21.2 IP), but his ERA was under two! That 2004 season, a then-22-year-old Perez was an absolute stud for the Pirates, and it bought him an incredible five and a half more TERRIBLE years in the rotation with the Pirates and Mets before the Mets and Mariners realized he could be a great arm out of the bullpen as a lefty specialist. From there he pitched for the Diamondbacks, Astros, Nationals, and Indians.

I enjoyed reading this transaction retrospective at MLBTR on the Rangers Alex Rodriguez signing, a 10-year, $252 million deal that more than doubled the previous largest contract in the sports history (which had actually just been signed a few days earlier by Mike Hampton and the Rockies).

If you were curious how large ARods deal would be in todays dollars, it would be about $406 million (thats based solely on inflation, not on the actual revenue growth in the sport, which would be much larger!). Sure enough, if a 25-year-old superstar shortstop hit the market today, youd DEFINITELY expect him to top $400 million. As it stands, a 27-year-old Carlos Correa is going to approach, what, $350 million? And with all appropriate respect to him, he is not ARod.

Ill take ten (which would still be considerably cheaper than one beer at Wrigley today):

Tons of cool stuff for your Daily Deals at Amazon, from fire pits to toys to coffee makers to sunglasses to clothes. #ad

GettyBaker Mayfield and the Browns have a make-or-break game Sunday against Baltimore.

Sundays divisional showdown between the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens is one of the biggest games of the season.

Its also the game featured in a promo that could let new FanDuel Sportsbook customers turn $5 into $150.

Bri and Meredith from the Cleveland sports podcast Thats What B Said joined Heavy on Saturday night to preview the Browns-Ravens game and discuss their thoughts on the Browns playoff chances. The conversation aired live on the Heavy on Browns Facebook page, on Twitter, and on Heavys YouTube channel. You can watch the entire show in the video above.

Meredith said she recommended fans place their $5 wager on the Browns, who need a victory in order to keep open a viable path to the playoffs. Bri said she was taking a slightly different approach.

Heres how she laid it out:

I dont bet much, but I have bet before. Im a big Vegas girl, if you didnt know that. But my dad had always taught me you always want to bet opposite of the team youre rooting for, because then if your team loses, you win money. If your team wins, youre happy. Right? But in this case, its five dollars. I dont know if Id be that mad about losing five dollars if I placed it on the Browns. But I also feel like you guys both picked the Browns, so I dont want to jinx the Browns. Do I pick the opposite? OK, Ill pick the opposite. Im going to pick the Ravens. Because then if I lose five dollars, Im still not mad, and then if the Browns win, Im happy.

The Browns-Ravens game kicks off Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Clevelands FirstEnergy Stadium. Though the special promo is the only way to get those 30-1 odds on either team, there are plenty of other Browns-Ravens items you can bet on at FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Browns are favored by 2.5 points, and Cleveland is a -156 money line favorite, meaning that if youre betting the money line outside of the special promo, a $100 wager will earn you a return of $56. Baltimore is a +132 money line underdog, meaning a $100 bet will get you a return of $132.

FanDuel Sportsbook has a handful of other Browns-Ravens betting options, including wagers on who will score touchdowns; alternate point spreads; correct score wagers; player props, and more.

DraftKings Boxing Odds: Get the Best Value At This Top Sportsbook – NYFights

Posted: December 5, 2021 at 11:44 am

One of the most popular sports for placing big money wagers is boxing. With DraftKingsyou will find a wealth of markets for that sport along with great event coverage and strong odds. Here we take a look at everything from a brief overview of the DraftKings sportsbook through to some specifics on DraftKings boxing odds.

DraftKings sportsbook boxing: Upcoming event oddsBoxing fight cards can alter dramatically from week to week with multiple big fights through to weeks where there are only a few lower-profile bouts due to take place. Regardless of size and stature, you can rely on us to deliver unbiased and quality tips.

Here are our picks for the upcoming week:Pick 1: Devin Haney vs Joseph Diaz: Moneyline, Devin Haney to win.Odds: -575 (include in your parlays)

Pick 2: Lyndon Arthur vs Anthony Yarde: Moneyline, Lyndon Arthur to winOdds: +105

* DraftKings boxing odds are correct at the time of publication. Please check with the bookmaker before placing your bet.

Devin Haney vs Joseph Diaz: Moneyline, Devin Haney to win @ -575We know that the DraftKings boxing odds for our first tip are pretty uninspiring on first glance but context is very important. Firstly, the odds of -575 are not far off some of the best out there with plenty of bookies pricing Haney at -600 and beyond. Secondly, Haney beating Diaz is as close to a banker as youll find especially this weekend. In Diazs last eight fights hes drawn one, lost one and one of his six wins came courtesy of a majority decision. Meanwhile you have Haney who is yet to taste anything but victory in his 26 fight career. You would probably say he has faced tougher opponents in recent times too. If that still isnt enough for you then Haney also holds a size and reach advantage over Diaz as well.

Some of you will ponder how much intangibles, like grit, and will, could influence Haney v Diaz

Lyndon Arthur vs Anthony Yarde: Moneyline, Lyndon Arthur to win @ +105If Haney is seen as the safe bet of the weekend then nobody can be angling that accusation at us about backing Lyndon Arthur to beat Anthony Yarde. After all, Yarde is the favourite to win. Arthur, who is nicknamed King Arthur, has won 19 fights to date with 13 knockouts recorded including having already beaten Yarde back in 2020. Both fighters have taken on other fights since that first meeting that ended in a split decision in favour of Arthur but you cant read too much into Yarde sparking Alex Theran; the Colombian has been KOd six times in his career. Arthur by contrast turned in an impressive display to see off the until then unbeaten Italian light heavyweight Davide Faraci. Yarde might be talking about upping his game for this fight but Arthur will be better than first time round too.

What is the DraftKings sportsbook like? The landscape of online sports betting has changed in the United States in recent years with DraftKings largely leading the charge on that front. They are one of the biggest players in the gambling sector and offer sports betting via mobile and desktop devices as well as having numerous bricks and mortar sites.

Our focus is predominantly on their online option which is available through both mobile and desktop devices. Within their website and/or their mobile app, youll be able to pick up bonuses, explore countless sporting markets that range from highly popular sports like the NFL and NBA to more niche sports, such as cycling and darts. Regardless of what sports tickle your fancy, you will have the ability to scan through multiple betting markets and place bets with ease.

How do DraftKings measure up in boxing? We have not yet touched on it but one of the sports where this bookie excels is boxing. This is the key area of focus for us in this article. We will be considering event coverage, betting lines and, perhaps most importantly of all, the DraftKings boxing odds you can benefit from.

What boxing markets do Draftkings offer? When it comes to DraftKings sportsbook boxing there is plenty of choice for you to bet on.

Fight LinesMoneylineIf youre new to betting then a moneyline bet might sounds confusing. Dont fear, though, because its the most straightforward market there is. A moneyline bet is this: a wager on who will win the fight; there is no stipulation on the method or timing of victory.

Total RoundsThis is largely as it sounds in that youre betting on the number of rounds the boxing match will see. These bets are based on the over or under technique and, like with most bets of that nature, incorporate a decimal to ensure there is no question about the round in which a fight ends. Quite often, these bets will allow you to bet at every round interval.

Fight PropsTo go the distanceIn terms of betting markets that are self explanatory, the to go the distance bet is perhaps right up there; it is simply asking the question of whether or not the fight will be settled on points or not. If a bout goes to the judges scorecards then it is deemed to have gone the distance.

Winning MethodGiven weve just spoken about betting on going the distance or in other words will there be a knockout or not the idea of a separate betting category focussed on the winning method might raise an eyebrow; it is different though. In the to go the distance market youre betting on the fight at a very high level in that youre not making any prediction as to who wins the fight; youre simply saying yes or no to the question. With the winning method market you have five different options to choose from.

These options are:

Fighter one to win by decision or technical decision Fighter one to win by knockout, technical knockout or disqualification Fighter two to win by decision or technical decision Fighter two to win by knockout, technical knockout or disqualification Draw

Round PropsRound BettingRound betting is another market that does what it says on the tin in that you are betting on the round the fight will end whilst backing a fighter at the same time. Youll find options available from round one all the way through to an option for points or, if you fancy it, the draw option. As we say, youll see these betting options twice with bookie requirements needing you to back a winner and a round. The DraftKings boxing odds will vary dramatically across these rounds depending on the event in question, although round one predictions do tend to offer pretty high odds on a consistent basis.

Round Group BettingThe round group betting market is pretty much as per the round betting market we just spoke about but with one key difference. Where the round betting needs to to pick a specific round, the group option will broaden your prospects to cover a minimum of two rounds; its worth noting these bets can sometimes vary with respect of how large the round groupings become. For example, if you look at the upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury, the round group betting is at two round intervals, however, Joseph Parker vs Dereck Chisora has round group betting at three round intervals. Of course, as the number of rounds increase so do your chances of winning and, as such, the Draftkings boxing odds will in turn reduce.

Plenty of folks will be backing Tommy Fury on DraftKings, not because they know hes an ace, but because they dislike Jake Paul

Alternative Round BettingThe final market under the Round Props category is known as Alternative Round Betting. Essentially, this is another view of the Round Group Betting weve just discussed. Again, you have to back a fighter in your bet but, quite often, youll then be presented with choosing between the first or second half of the fight; these options will be presented as fighter X to win in rounds 1-6 or in rounds 7-12. As with the other betting lines weve touched on, you will also have visibility of the points and draw selections too.

NFL Week 13 Sportsbook Report: Bettors Flocking To Bucs Over Falcons – GamingTodaySlotsToday

Posted: at 11:44 am

Johnny Avello left Napolis brick-oven pizzeria Wednesday afternoon in Hoboken, N.J., where he was attending a nearby conference, and raved about the square Sicilian slices he had just consumed.

Oh, my God, said the DraftKings sportsbook director. Amazing. So good. Really, really great.

It doesnt even upset his stomach, too much, when I mention the Seattle Seahawks. Then again, the 69-year-old Avello, who formerly directed the Ballys and Wynn sportsbooks, is a consummate professional.

They just havent performed well. The Seahawks are having a rough time scoring. Russell Wilson just doesnt seem to be the same Russell Wilson.

On Tuesday, Nov. 23, DraftKings posted a look-ahead line (for games of the following week) of Pickem for San Franciscos tilt at Seattle on Sunday. Another shop even appeared to post Seattle at a look-ahead -1.5, according to VegasInsider.com.

Thursday, the 49ers were favored by 3.5 points.

Three and a half seems too high, said Avello. Probably wouldnt want to go past three, in a game like this between division foes. The 49ers probably deserve to be the favorite just based on what weve seen from Seattle recently.

The Seahawks have lost six of their past seven games, scoring 17 or fewer points in five of them. They were shut out in Green Bay on Nov. 14.

Sometimes things dont work anymore, so it might be time for [coach] Pete Carroll to go away, start fresh, said Avello. Maybe we see Russell Wilson on another team? He did stick around, but I know he wants to be on a contender.

Heres a look at the Week 13 slate.

Even sportsbooks are tired of JB Smoove screaming CAE-SARS! – Deadspin

Posted: at 11:44 am

Do you remember the movie Thank You for Smoking? It was a satirical look at cigarette spokesman Nick Naylor (played by Aaron Eckhart aka Harvey Dent from The Dark Knight) who tries to remain a role model to his son despite promoting/defending lung darts.

While I could write a whole piece based on my love for cigarette nicknames (rip a grit, puff a smav, you got ant P-Funks?), thats not why I mentioned this film.

That largely forgettable movie stuck with me because Eckhart does an outstanding job of being greasy, yet polished. I could see the world in which he operates. Like, oh, thats why PR firms and lobbyists are valuable; spinning complete bullshit is an art.

Thats why its not difficult to understand why sports gambling is spreading unimpeded. If I have to sit through another JB Smoove-Patton Oswalt Caesars commercial and I will Im going to lose my mind the same way that fucking Geico commercial led me to launch a petition banning all use of Tag Teams music at sporting events and in ads.

No, I didnt do that, but god dammit, you dont make enough off of Jock Jams? Cash your royalty checks and go hang out with whomever wrote Tootsee Roll.

It seems even sports gambling execs are reaching their limit. Not on sports betting, but on sports betting advertising. In what appeared to be a moment of self-awareness at the SBC Summit North America, a major sports betting conference held in New Jersey this week that Im sure featured a massive amount of stereotype-fulfilling moments, president of the American Gaming Association, Bill Miller, called the ad inundation an unsustainable arms race.

(I have so many questions. Was there a booth dedicated to how to juice local favorites? What was the SWAG? Vig calculators? Who was the keynote speaker? Geno from Queens who finally opened up his own legal, government-regulated sportsbook?)

Our sanity is not their concern, though, because these are gross gambling execs who embrace sleaze. The reason for their uneasiness is because they fear being regulated like their European counterparts.

You do have to draw lessons from the U.K.: you have to self-regulate, said Ken Fuchs, senior vice president of sports for Caesars Digital at the conference. Its about how does a customer interact with Caesars as a brand. Its not about shouting at people: Free money! Free money! Free money! Thats what wears people down.

Really? Thats what wears people down? Not Smoove bellowing CAE-SARS! every commercial break? I had a Knicks MSG broadcast on the other night, and they had an impromptu Caesars ad with Smoove because he was at the game. Thats half a world of difference considering the whistle-to-whistle ban thats been enacted in the U.K. prohibiting gambling commercials during games, and that Italy has outright nixed all sports betting advertisements since 2019.

Why would those countries do that? Was it because their governments, like me, were fed up with a never-ending avalanche of annoying commercials? If that was the case then maybe I shouldve started that petition.

But, no, the reason those laws were put in place, you odds-calculating dipshits, was because of match-fixing scandals corrupting the integrity of sports, and gambling addiction. We havent seen (discovered?) any of the former in the U.S. since gambling began its marijuana legalization-like spread because and Im projecting here were naive and think just because the government said its OK, its safe.

Congressional oversight on how many times you can extend a B-list acts career isnt the danger to your industry; your industry is the danger to your industry. Gambling is a Mount Rushmore member of the Anonymous club along with drugs, alcohol and, I dont know, sex?

The lust to safely give people the freedom to gamble isnt what drives these sportsbook CEOs and professional sports leagues; its the money. The financial boon from sports gambling is why the NFL, MLB and others are getting into the business, and why my colleague Jesse Spector mentioned gambling revenue sharing as a possible solution to end the baseball lockout. Nevada sportsbooks just had their first $1 billion... month.

The NFL debuted its betting PSA during Thursdays Dallas-New Orleans game, and even though hes older, you can see the Nick Naylor in Steve Mariucci. The same idiots who openly discuss how to get more people to gamble, smoke, drink, etc., at a conference come from the same lineage as the people who thought, Lets put an Italian guy nicknamed Mooch in our first gambling PSA.

Im going to step down from this saddle because its pretty high, but I do agree with the gaming president person on one thing: That JB Smoove ad is fucking exhausting.
