The Nittany Lions are hoping to avoid a season sweep after losing 51-68 to Iowa just over a week ago. Theyve covered the spread in four straight home games while Iowa has covered just once in their last four road games. Unfortunately for Penn State, however, this is a brutal matchup for them.

Penn States biggest problems are turnovers and free throws. Theyre 262nd nationally in offensive turnover rate at 20.2%, per Bart Torvik, and 325th in offensive free throw rate. With 17 turnovers in the first matchup, the Nittany Lions have to protect the basketball better against an Iowa defense that forces turnovers on over 21% of their opponents possessions.

If you dont protect the ball and you dont get to the free throw line, you need to be able to shoot well to pull off upsets. But Penn State ranks just 165th in 3-point shooting and went 7/25 from beyond the arc against Iowa the first time. Theyll need an outlier performance to keep up with an Iowa team that boasts the 10th-best adjusted offensive efficiency in America.

When they lost to Iowa by 17 on the road, they were 10.5-point underdogs. I havent seen anything in their recent performance to suggest this line should be as short as it is even if Penn State is at home this time. The Hawkeyes will be looking for a bounce-back performance after losing to Purdue their last time out and will ramp up the pressure from the opening tip.

Ill take Iowa -5 (-105) as my best bet in this one and expect Penn States turnover issues to be their downfall.

This is how were betting this game:

It was all good just three weeks ago. West Virginia sat at 13-2 and was poised to make a run in the Big 12 Conference. Fast forward and the Mountaineers have lost five straight and failed to cover the spread by an average of 6.4 points per game.

Their offense has fallen off a cliff as they rank 2nd-worst in overall shooting percentage in Big 12 conference play and 281st nationally in effective field goal percentage. They still have a good defense, however, that ranks 36th in the country in adjusted defensive efficiency behind the 14th-best defensive turnover rate.

If the Mountaineers are going to keep this one close, they have to take advantage of a Baylor offense that ranks 202nd in offensive turnover rate at just over 19% of their possessions. West Virginia forced 13 turnovers in a nine-point loss to the Bears two weeks ago and they have to repeat that performance tonight.

For their part, Baylor has struggled to put teams away at home this season. Theyre just 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games including two outright losses as double-digit favorites.

Im holding my nose and taking the Mountaineers +14 (-110) in this one. The Bears only beat West Virginia by nine despite shooting 12/27 from beyond the arc (44.4%), well above their season average of 36.9%. Against a Mountaineers defense that holds opponents to 31.2% from three on the season, I expect some regression in that department tonight.

Its worth mentioning that Baylor plays Kansas on Saturday as well, so Baylor could be guilty of looking ahead and not be fully focused against West Virginia. It may be ugly but this is the ultimate buy-low spot for the Mountaineers.

Nevada casino sportsbooks generally feature betting windows, big screen televisions, interactive betting stations, odds boards (usually computerized), papers with different odds for the day, and places to sit and watch games and races.

During the 2011 NFL season, the three sports books generated $4.4 million in revenue for the state.[8] On June 5, 2018, the casino sportsbooks in Delaware expanded sports betting to single-game and championship wagers on professional and college sports (excluding Delaware college teams) including football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, boxing/MMA, golf, and auto racing.[9][10][11]

Caesars Sportsbook came under fire from bettors and a state senator this week over issues the company has been experiencing in New York.

The Caesars Sportsbook mobile app, which went live in New York on Jan. 8, suffered multiple outages during its first two weeks operating in the state. Bettors reported wagers on completed events not being graded and reflected in account balances in a timely manner, in addition to delays in processing withdrawals. The company's customer-service team was unable to handle the volume of complaints and the online-chat option was eventually disabled, resulting in lapses in communication between the sportsbook and bettors looking for answers.

"Our customers are of the utmost importance to us and we apologize for any inconvenience they've experienced since our launch in the Empire State," a Caesars spokesperson said in a statement to ESPN. "New Yorkers have tremendous passion for sports and the state operates on an unprecedented scale all its own. That scale has exposed issues in our platform and we've made numerous updates every day since launch to improve the customer experience. Additionally, we are continuing to increase our customer-service capacity to ensure we can respond more quickly. We're committed to the State of New York for the long haul and want to assure every customer that we appreciate their feedback and are working to rectify these issues as quickly as we can."

New York State Sen. Joseph Addabbo, one of the driving forces in legalizing online sports betting in the state, said he had been hearing from frustrated customers and considered Caesars' early problems to be beyond growing pains, calling them "disappointing and disheartening." Addabbo was especially concerned by delays with withdrawals and said if the issues persist, his office and the New York State Gaming Commission may need to get involved.

"This is Caesars Sportsbook, this is not some mom-and-pop operation that opened up yesterday," Addabbo told ESPN on Thursday. "We see the commercials, we know that Caesars has some success in the industry. It's not a rookie here."

Some of the confusion with Caesars was centered on a deposit bonus new customers in New York received. Caesars offered to match initial deposits from new accounts up to $3,000, in addition to giving $300 in free bets to every new signup. If a customer in New York opened their first account with Caesars Sportsbook and deposited $3,000, they would receive $3,300 in bonus money.

Before withdrawing funds from the deposit match and free bet, customers were required to place wagers totaling the amount they received from the bonuses at least once within 30 calendar days. Any wagers placed at odds greater than -300 were not included in the required play-through amount. Some bettors reportedly were trying to withdraw funds but had not met the play-through requirements. Others said they were trying to withdraw their own funds they deposited.

"Communication would alleviate a lot of the frustration," Addabbo said.

Caesars, DraftKings, FanDuel and Rush Street Interactive each launched in New York on Jan. 8. BetMGM began operating in New York last week, and four more books are completing the licensing process before launching.

The New York State Gaming Commission on Friday released figures for the period of Jan. 8-16. Caesars led the four operators with $257.5 million in bets, followed by FanDuel at $200.4 million.

Botic is the fresher player heading into this matchup, advancing to Round 3 via Richard Gasquets mid-match retirement. Assuming he can win one set and keep the others relatively competitive, van de Zandschulp should break the 11-game mark tonight.

PASSwith a heavy lean towards the Hornets (-160) since they are on the fringe of my price range for an NBA regular-season money line favorite.

For what its worth, Charlotte is 6-2 SU as a home favorite and Atlanta is 5-10 SU as a road underdog.

LEANto theHORNETS -3.5 (-110)for a half unit because I prefer the Over more than the sides in this game. However, this is a better spot for Charlotte.

The Hornets are an NBA-best 15-4 ATS at home with a plus-3.6 ATS margin. While the Hawks are 8-15 ATS on the road with a minus-1.9 ATS margin,3-7 ATS on the road versus teams above-.500 and 5-10 ATS as road underdogs.

Ultimately, the dealbreaker for myLEANto theHORNETS -3.5 (-110)is how bad the Hawks are in tight games. Atlanta is 29th in clutch net rating at minus-22.6 while Charlotte is 17th at minus-0.4. Clutch is defined by a game thats within a 5-point margin with five minutes or less in regulation.

BET the OVER 235.5 (-110) for 1 unit because both teams are awesome offensively and weak defensively. Plus both have edges they can exploit.

Charlotte gets out in transition at the highest rate in the league and is second in fastbreak points per game (PPG). Whereas Atlanta has the worst transition defensive efficiency and is 20th in fastbreak PPG allowed.

However, Atlanta can pick-and-roll (PnR) Charlotte to death. The Hawks initiate PnR action through the ball handler at the second-highest rate and the Hornets rank 26th in defensive efficiency versus ball handlers in PnR.

On top of that, Atlanta is second in offensive efficiency in the PnR through the roll-man and Charlottes defensive efficiency versus the roll-man grades in the 35th percentile.

Also, this total is shockingly high considering the head-to-head O/U trend between these two teams. In fact, this total is 11.5 points higher than the most recent Hawks-Hornets meeting, Dec. 5. But, that game soared over the total of 225 by 32 points and I like this meeting to go Over as well.

PASS since these are two of the most efficient teams in the NBA, so the Warriors (-165) is too expensive despite how poorly the Jazz (+170) have been playing recently.

The Jazz +5.5 (-120) are already going to be without their leading scorer in Mitchell and Gobert grades in the 94th percentile of bigs in adjusted on/off net rating, per CTG.

Furthermore, the Jazz run the highest rate of pick-and-roll (PnR) offense. Gobert is key to Utahs PnR action. Also, the Warriors have the best PnR defensive efficiency versus ball handlers.

On top of that, Golden State has performed much better against top-10 teams in adjusted net rating than Utah.

The Warriors are second in adjusted net rating versus top-10 teams (CTG) and 13-6 ATS versus teams above-.500 (5-1 ATS at home).

Whereas the Jazz are 4-11 ATS versus teams above-.500 (2-4 ATS on the road) and have the 22nd-ranked ATS margin at minus-3.1 versus top-10 teams (CTG).

Finally, since the beginning of last season, Utah is an NBA-worst 2-5 ATS as a road underdog with the worst ATS margin at minus-4.6.

On the other hand, Golden State is an NBAs best 28-15-1 ATS as a home favorite with a plus-3.4 ATS margin (ranked second) over that time span.

As previously mentioned, Utah is definitely without its best shot creator and could be without an elite rim runner and offensive rebounder (Gobert).

Also, Golden State is ranked 27th in adjusted offensive rating over the past two weeks but fourth in adjusted defensive rating (per CTG).

Lastly, the Under has cashed in three of Utahs past four games, the Jazz are 9-12-1 O/U on the road and the Warriors are 7-15-2 O/U as a home favorite.

The Minnesota Timberwolves (21-22) travel to Madison Square Garden Tuesday to take on the New York Knicks (22-22). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Timberwolves vs. Knicks odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Timberwolves have been rolling as of late, winning five of their last seven games. However, those wins havent been overly impressive, defeating the Thunder twice, the Rockets, Clippers and a Curry-less Warriors.

Minnesota has still covered at a solid rate, 23-20 ATS. New York, on the other hand, is 21-23 ATS. The Knicks are just 2-4 overall and ATS as home underdogs though. The Knicks have won three of their last four games.

Despite a .500 record, they do have a minus-0.5 net rating which doesnt compare favorably to the Wolves who, while under .500, have a plus-0.7 net rating.

The Wolves rank fourth in field goal attempts and first in three-point attempts. They also average the third-most turnovers per game. They manage those numbers by ranking third in offensive rebounding rate.

With C Mitchell Robinson down low, the Knicks rank ninth in rebounding rate, so they should be able to limit Minnesota. New Yorks opponents also rank 10th in field goal attempts, so the Knicks limit how many attempts their opponents get.

Minnesota is just 10-15 versus teams above-.500. With New York limiting what the Wolves do best, I expect the Knicks to come away with the win at home.

PASS on the spread. Since I like New York, Id rather play them outright for the plus-money value.

LEAN to the UNDER 213.5 (-107).

New York has played to the Under at one of the highest rates in the NBA, and even when going against a high-paced team like Charlotte, there were still under 100 points by both sides.

The Knicks are just 18-26 O/U this season. New York ranks dead-last in pace. The Wolves are 23-20 O/U, and as noted, their chances for additional opportunities should be limited.
