The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Darlington, South Carolina for a throwback weekend on Sunday. Lets dive in with our Goodyear 400 prop picks.

Weve seen the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington five times since 2020, leading to a treasure trove of data points to use while attacking the betting market.

Chevrolet heads into the event on a two-race winning streak. Bowties have crossed the finish line first in five of the last seven races.

Here are my top prop picks for NASCARs Goodyear 400 at Darlington Speedway in Darlington, South Carolina (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook).

This line leans far too much on Hendrick Motorsports recent string of success. Chase Elliott simply hasnt been good at Darlington. He owns just two top-five finishes and four top 10s over 10 starts. Hamlin has finished ahead of him seven times, too.

Elliotts best performance at Darlington came way back in 2014 when he won during his first Xfinity Series start at the track. Its been all downhill since then, with Elliott managing only a 24th-place result in his next attempt. He has yet to revisit victory lane at Darlington in the Cup Series.

Hamlin ranks second among active drivers with his average finishing position of 7.1, and third among drivers who have made multiple starts at the historic track. That kind of edge means Hamlin should be favored in this market, but were getting him at the same price as Elliott instead.

Chris Buescher has looked solid lately. He won the pole at Dover Motor Speedway and wheeled his No. 17 Ford to an eighth-place finish. He also owns three top 10s in 2021, two more than at this point in 2021. But were fading him anyway because Jones has been so much better at Darlington.

Jones ranks third among active drivers with his average finishing position of 10.1 at Darlington. He may no longer possess the Joe Gibbs Racing equipment that helped him rattle off a win and six top 10s over six outings. But weve seen enough life out of Petty GMS Racing this year to target him here anyway. Jones already owns one top-five finish and four top 10s in 2022. Thats one more top five than all of 2021.

Jones is 6-2 against Buescher at Darlington. Both of Bueschers better finishes came last season, including the fall race at Darlington when Jones lost an engine after 264 laps. This market shouldnt be favoring Buescher, and were getting great value.

Well double down on Jones with this play. That Jones Boy was fantastic for Joe Gibbs Racing at Darlington, never finishing outside the top 10. Jones owned an average finish of seventh place at Darlington before blowing an engine in 2021.

The improvement weve seen out of Petty GMS Racing since the merger is enough for me to back Jones with confidence here. The team boasts five top-10 results thus far in 2021. Further, Jones average running position of 15th ranks 11th, so we know his equipment is good enough for him to stick around up front.

Of the 36 drivers entered in the Goodyear 400, 17 face shorter odds to score a top-10 finish. That shouldnt be the case. Lets hope to more than double our money while targeting Jones at a shockingly friendly price.

For the first time, an active Major League Baseball player will endorse a bookmaker in the United States.

MaximBet and Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon have reached a partnership that will have the four-time All-Star appearing as a brand ambassador in marketing campaigns, promotions and social media content and at fan events for the online sportsbook.

Blackmon, per MLB policy, is not allowed to promote betting on baseball specifically but can endorse the sportsbook in general.

He is the first player to capitalize on opportunities in the sports betting space that were included in baseball's new collective bargaining agreement. Marketing and sponsorship deals with sportsbooks were restricted to league and team entities but prohibited for players and coaches prior to the CBA that was put in place this offseason. Players, coaches and MLB personnel remain prohibited from betting on baseball.

The deal between Blackmon and MaximBet is the latest example of MLB's embrace of the expanding legal sports betting market in the United States. Legal bookmakers are operating in 30 states and the District of Columbia, and multiple MLB ballparks are putting in physical sportsbook spaces.

In a recent interview on SportsCenter, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred touted the future of in-game betting on baseball.

"We see it primarily as a form of increasing fan engagement. It's an additional way for our fans to interact with the game," Manfred said. "I do think in-game betting is going to be a significant component. I think if you talk to people who are experts in the field that they don't see outcome betting as a major growth area. It is in fact in-game betting, so-called prop betting, that is going to be the growth area. And most of that betting is going to take place on mobile devices."

MaximBet, an offshoot of the lifestyle brand Maxim, is a newer online sportsbook in the U.S. and currently operates only in Colorado. It has announced plans to expand into Iowa and Indiana.

St. Croix Casinos opened two new sportsbooks at its Turtle Lake and Danbury properties in Wisconsin. The openings took place Friday and Saturday, with traditional ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and bettors waiting in line to wager for the first time at the properties.

The first official bet at Turtle Lake was placed by Georgia Cobenais, a member of the Turtle Lake Tribal Council, who commented on the road that led to the opening of the sportsbook and described it as nerve-wrecking, exciting, but we had a great team all the way around and everybody worked together, Fox9 reported.

Even though Wisconsin legalized sports betting at its tribal casinos in 2021, St. Croix Casino still had to go through the final approvals to set-up with the federal agencies. And despite the fact that the process is known to take a couple of months, Jeff Merrill, the sportsbooks manager stated they made it into about a five-month process. So the biggest hurdle was clearing the hurdles at the federal government level.

At Danbury, four betting kiosks, a bar, a lounge and seven TVs are now open to the public, after a project that cost the casino roughly $80,000 to build.

As reported by CBS 3 Duluth, Loren Benjamin, general manager of the casino, expressed: Its another form of entertainment. Its another reason for people to visit. And I think its going to bring a new crowd, a new age group, said Loren Benjamin, general manager of the casino.

Benjamin added that access to the new betting system should provide an economic boost to their casino, and others across the state.

Legal sports betting has now opened so close to the Twin Cities, the expectations are now on Minnesota to follow suit. Bills to legalize sports betting at the states tribal casinos have more momentum at the Capitol this session as tribal leaders have now expressed their support.

Sports betting is now legal in 30 states, including those surrounding Minnesota. According to Merrill, whether the state will legalize it is no longer a matter of if but when.

I would think its inevitable. And my thought is that, good luck, because its competition. Its just business and competition makes it good for everybody.

Hard to imagine how cramped the foot traffic around that area of the park is going to be now. That area was kind of nice to have wide open for people to move a bit more freely around the park. There is also fear that this massive addition will further hurt the historic image of Wrigley Field. This will be yet another a significant change to the Wrigleyville experience.

Is it really a surprise this is happening? No, it shouldnt be. The Cubs are one of the most profitable sports franchises in America and sports betting is an absolute cash cow. We fans might not like it, but its hard to be surprised a multi-billion dollar franchise wants to continue to increase revenue. That said, if there is no CBA agreement, then there will be little enthusiasm from the fans to come out to a baseball-less ballpark.
