Rays 8, Rangers 2

BETa half-unit on theRAYS (-120) only because theyve struggled at the plate over the past two weeks and the Rangers hit better vs. left-handed pitching than Tampas lineup vs. righties.

But, the Rays have an edge in the starting and relief pitching matchups. Tampas bullpen is better than Texass by ERA, WHIP, FIP, WAR, exit velocity and swing-and-miss rates, according to FanGraphs.

Springs grades in the 98th percentile in chase rate, 83rd percentile in whiff rate, and the 85th percentile or better in expected batting average (xBA), wOBA (xwOBA) and slugging percentage (xSLG) slash line, perStatcast.

Gray is in the 38th percentile or worse in xBA-xwOBA-xSLG slash line, 45th percentile in chase rate and 50th percentile in whiff rate.

Tampas ML is taking steam and has been bet up from a -115 opener but theres still value on theRAYS (-120).

Texass lineup has been a lot more productive recently and hits lefties well and the Rangers +1.5 (-180) are 10-5 RL as home underdogs. Im also not confident enough in Tampas ML to sprinkle on the Rays -1.5 (+145).

LEAN to theOVER 7.5 (+100)only because most of the market is betting the Over but the total has ticked down from an 8-run opener, according to Pregame.com. This type of line movement is suspicious.

However, Tampa is 8-3-2 O/U as a road favorite, Texas is 9-5-1 O/U as a home underdogand 5-2 O/U in Grays 7 starts and the Over is 3-1-1 O/U in the last 5 Rays-Rangers meetings.

Also, Globe Life Field is a hitter-friendly park (8th in park factor) and the weather forecast is predicting temperatures in the low-90s and hotter weather typically leads to more Overs.

USA welcomes Morocco to TQL Stadium in Cincinnati Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the USA vs. Morocco odds and lines, and make our best USMNTbets, picks and predictions.

Both clubs will be using this as a tune-up match for the 2022 World Cup which is set to take place in Qatar, starting in November.

The USMNT is in Group B with Iran and England along with one of Ukraine, Scotland or Wales. Morocco is in an extremely difficult Group F with Belgium, Croatia and Canada.

USA will have many of its big-name players like F Christian Pulisic for this match, while star M Weston McKennie is only expected to play 20 minutes.

The USMNT comes in ranked 15th in FIFA Mens Rankings, and the 24th ranked Morocco should provide a good matchup. F Youssef En-Nesyri has 12 career national team goals for the visiting side and is the teams most lethal attacking option.

LEAN USA (+100).

The United States Mens National Team has won 7 straight games in its home country. A 2-0 win against 9th-ranked Mexico is included in those results.

Morocco has never lost to USA, but this isnt the same caliber of team its used to. The most recent game Morocco played against a high-level opponent was a 2-1 loss to Egypt earlier this year where its only marker came on a penalty shot in the 7th minute.

Morocco was 6-0-0 with a +19 goal differential in Group I play in CAF qualifying. Again, the competition wasnt quite at the level the USA will be playing with.

Given the USMNTs record in domestic-played games along with the extremely talented roster theyre gearing up to play with at the World Cup, I expect them to play with pace and competence.

BET OVER 2.5 (+130).

The USMNT is starting Aaron Long and Walker Zimmerman which isnt exactly a quick center-back combo. Miles Robinson will be out for the foreseeable future with an injury which is certainly not ideal. Hes played a key role defensively as of late.

Then, you have players like Pulisic and the talented F Jesus Ferreira expected to get a good chunk of minutes. M Tyler Adams should also be able to play with pace.

Morocco allowed just a few goals in qualifying and is led defensively by PSG D Achraf Hakimi Mouh. He has 8 goals in 48 contests. En-Nesyri could play impactful minutes as well.

Its the riskier side, but considering who the USMNT is starting and then the threat combination of talent Morocco showed in the CAF qualifying, I expect to see a plethora of goals in Cincinnati.

In 1971, Alan Page won the award as a defensive tackle and in 1986, Lawrence Taylor won the award as a linebacker. As its highly unlikely to happen, there are a few guys worth taking a look at to win the award.

In his career, Watt has been named to the Pro Bowl four times and All-Pro three times. Prior to the 2021 season, Watt signed a four-year extension worth $112 million.

In 2021, Watt had his best year by far and one of the best by an edge rusher all time. In 15 games, Watt had 64 tackles, 22.5 sacks, seven pass deflections, and five forced fumble. Following the 2021 season, Watt was named AP Defensive Player of the Year. Looking forward to 2022, if Watt can play all 17 games and put up similar numbers, he will at least have at chance at winning MVP.

Circa Sports is expanding its national footprint with a new retail sportsbook in Illinois as part of a deal with Full House Resorts.Circa will also provide mobile sports betting in Illinois subject to customary regulatory approvals.

Circa, a respected market-making sportsbook based in Las Vegas, currently operates in Nevada, Colorado, and Iowa. The Derek Stevens-owned book is known for catering to all bettors, including sharps, with wagering limits that apply to all its customers.

Circa Sports and Full House Resorts agreed on an eight-year deal with two four-year extension opportunities at Circas option. Full House received a market access fee of $5 million this month, and will receive at least $5 million per year in revenue sharing after Circa starts offering mobile sports betting in Illinois.

The new casino and sportsbook, American Place, will be located in Waukegan, a northern suburb of Chicago. It is expected to be completed within three years. Until then, The Temporary by American Place will serve as an interim casino facility starting this fall.

For anyone who has seen that beautiful three-story sportsbook at Circa in downtown Las Vegas, Im looking forward to having the best sportsbook in the Midwest, said Dan Lee, CEO of Full House Resorts in a call with investors on Monday.

American Place will be Circas first retail sportsbook outside of Nevada, the Las Vegas Review-Jornal noted. Lee added the partnership with Circa Sports comes on the heels of Circas success in Las Vegas.

Tennessee goes all-in: A conservative state? Check. Zero casinos? Check. One of the first states to legalize sports betting check? Thats exactly what happened in the Volunteer State, with the legislature passing a sports betting bill a little over a year post-PASPA. In fact, Tennessee lawmakers got so enamored with sports betting that they even allowed a payday loan company to start taking wagers. What could possibly go wrong?

Play ball! Wrigley Field is going to have its own sportsbook. Yep, the oldest ballpark in the National League, home of the ivy walls and Harry Careys home turf is getting its own sportsbook. More like Tinker to Evers to (take a) Chance, amirite?

FOX Bet sputters: Big names? Check. Big money? Double check. Big brand? Triple check. And FOX Bet can be found in the sum total of four states, and is laggard in each one. Instead, the most action FOX Bet is seeing is via arbitration, as it and FanDuel (Flutter) are set to go into chambers in June to settle an ownership dispute. (The lawyers always win )

One Billion Dollars: Back in the dusty, black and white days immediately following PASPA getting tossed, the idea of New Jersey or any state, for that matter doing a billion dollars in online handle was as fantastical as Willy Wonka. By the end of the first year, a great month was $250 million in handle. Today, hitting the billion-dollar mark is as routine as giving an avocado a gentle squeeze at the supermarket. (Yes, an avocado is a fruit and thus, were sorry.)

Ping pong bing bong: Colorado bettors love betting on table tennis. Why? Who knows. But they do. It is mildly hypnotic, I suppose, and weed has been legal in Colorado for some time, so maybe theres a connection. Will investigate.

Portnoys Not Complaining: The brash bad boy of Barstool Sports becomes the de facto face of Barstool Sportsbook, which served as Penn National Gamings foray into the world of online sports betting. Um, what could possibly go wrong?

Limiting the limited with limits in a limit-y fashion: Bottom line is if a sports bettor shows any acumen notably by beating closing lines the vast majority of Americas online sportsbooks will limit those bettors, sometimes to pennies. This has thrown a major wrench in the thus-far half-hearted attempts to try and stop serious American bettors from placing wagers with offshore operations.

Close, but no cigar: Floridas foray into legal sports betting has been swampier than the Everglades. The Seminoles made a deal with the governor, while FanDuel and DraftKings ran a failed end-around to try and get mobile betting out of the Seminoles hands. The feds stepped in and said, Just stop, and as of this moment, if you want to place a bet in Florida, you cant. Things are tied up in the courts, and who knows when this knot will be untangled.

Sportsbooks ads and ads and ads and ads: Did companies like DraftKings and FanDuel learn nothing from companies like, well, like DraftKings and FanDuel? In short, the proliferation of daily fantasy sports ads turned a nation against daily fantasy sports, and sportsbooks repeated the folly by over-saturating the airwaves with almost uniformly terrible advertising. Only bright spots: Discovering Cooper Manning is the funniest Manning and being shocked to learn that it was Halle Berry as Cleo.

Sports leagues do an about face: This should probably fall under predictable, except the speed at which all these sports leagues embraced legalized betting was, at times, head-spinning. To wit, the NFL the biggest and loudest anti-gambling league in the land signed deals with six sportsbooks.

Cowboy State goes crypto: Wyoming, not exactly known as one of the more progressive states out yonder, became the first state to allow sports bettors to use crypto to place their wagers. Odds were off the board on this one.

SGPs go boom: Same-game parlays have taken the sports betting world by storm, and thank goodness, as without them, the sportsbooks would probably start offering -120 sides. Do you know how much money the books are making on these things? Yeah, us neither, but its a ton. Of course, this happens occasionally:

Texas and California join Florida in no-mans land: Texas, because politicians there are purer than the driven snow (cue eye roll), and California, due to, much like Florida, tribal concerns (and tribal law) butting up against politicians butting up against sportsbook operators.

How low can you go?: After a raucous start, publicly traded companies that are in the sports betting field are getting hammered. DraftKings is trading around $11, off its 52-week high of $64 and change. Rush Street Interactive is around $5.50, off its $21.83 high. Genius Sports, the data and tech company? Down to $3 and change, off its high of $25.18. PointsBet? Around a buck-seventy, down from $10 and change. Penn National? The big winner here, with share prices at nearly $32, down from its 52-week high of $86. What can turn these stocks into something more palatable to investors? Well, getting the three big states to legalize sports betting wouldnt hurt, nor would whisper-whisper more states legalizing the real cash cow: online casino gaming.

Sports betting, meet the end of the world: The hand-wringers have come out in force against sports betting, most notably since New York went live. Just get a load of what Matthew Walther of The Atlantic, Jay Caspian Kang of The New York Times, Will Leitch of The Atlantic, Kurt Streeter of The New York Times (noticing a trend?) and more have written. Listen, we get it: Sports betting isnt exactly crochet. But to think the world is going to collapse on itself because most states are legalizing sports betting, an activity that was already happening (duh), is making even Chicken Little himself be like, Say wha???

Scandal? Scandal! Scandal.: Yeah, it finally happened, giving those hand-wringers something to celebrate. Calvin Ridley, the wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, was on the shelf. But he still loved his Falcons, so he bet on them six times, to the tune of $3,900. He was promptly suspended for a year. Also notable: Ridley lost all six bets he placed. Sports stars, theyre just like us!

Odds of this happening were -5000 in retrospect: Joey Knish and Dave Portnoy got into a Twitter fight. Who couldve ever seen this coming?

The bettor from New York on Wednesday picked the winners of 10 baseball games including one on the run line (-1.5) and five underdogs all four NHL playoff games and both NBA playoff games against the spread.

The Boston Bruins (2-2) and Carolina Hurricanes (2-2) meet for Game 5 of their 1st-round Eastern Conference playoff series Tuesday at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C. The series is tied 2-2. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we look at the Bruins vs. Hurricanes Game 5 odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Bruins will look to carry over their momentum from a pair of convincing wins on home ice in Games 3 and 4. The Bs changed to Jeremy Swayman in net for Game 3, and have won two in a row while outscoring the Canes 9-4.

The Hurricanes hope to use the home crowd to get back on track. Carolina bludgeoned Boston in the first 2 wins by a combined 10-3 margin but lost focus in the 2 road games, while also letting some undisciplined play creep in.

After Linus Ullmark lost the first two games in Carolina, head coach Bruce Cassidy tabbed Swayman for Game 3. The Alaska native won his first two career postseason starts in Games 3 and 4, going 2-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .925 SV%.

Raanta returned to the lineup after being knocked out of Game 2, and while he allowed 4 goals on 27 shots, he played well. There was also a controversial situation in the second period where goalie interference appeared to have occurred. Head coach Rod BrindAmour challenged, and not only did the goal stand, but the Bruins received a power play and scored another goal. That changed the entire momentum of the game.

Hurricanes 4, Bruins 2

The way the Bruins (+120) played in Boston the past 2 games, its tempting to play the dog. But the HURRICANES (-145) have been so dominant on home ice, and until the Bs can prove they can win in Raleigh, you have to back the home side.

The HURRICANES -1.5 (+170) are worth a roll of the dice on the puck line. Carolina lost a little momentum in the first with the 2 losses in Boston, but it won the first 2 games on home ice by a combined 10-3 score.

OVER 5.5 (-145) is the lean here. Eventually were going to get a defensive game in this series, and one with very tight checking, low scoring and perhaps even a trip to overtime. But so far the Over is 3-0-1 in four games, so until we get an Under, keep going for at least 6 goals per outing.

Boston Bruins at Carolina Hurricanes Game 5 odds, picks, predictions - USA TODAY Sportsbook Wire

While some US sportsbooks pull back on marketing in an effort to hit profitability, FanDuel is doing the opposite.

The acquisition opportunity is too good right now to pull back, Flutter CEO Peter Jackson explained during the companys trading update Wednesday morning.

That is even after a first quarter that saw FanDuel add more than 1.3 million customers in the US, which is more than 70% of the new customers acquired in all of 2021, Jackson said.

FanDuel is spending around $290 per new customer with average paybacks in 12 to 18 months, which has management ready to keep working for more players.

We are continuing to push hard on driving some customer acquisitions and were very, very pleased with the acquisition costs that were seeing and the lifetime value dynamics that were also seeing, Jackson said. Its giving us real conviction and were leaning in very heavily to acquire as much business as we can.

The only market where FanDuel pulled back slightly is New York, Jackson said, though new customers are still flowing in there. The company said NY sports betting exceeded expectations with how fast its daily fantasy players are converting into sportsbook customers.

FanDuel is keeping its foot on the pedal while others are backing off more than ever, Jackson said.

Other people seem to be stepping back as I think theyre finding the dynamics difficult but we are seeing a continued big opportunity and are really leaning very hard into it. On a post-Super Bowl basis, we believe that the marketing intensity were seeing and the generosity levels have stepped back more significantly this year than weve seen in previous years amongst our competitors.

Multiple sportsbook operators are making changes based on profitability. Caesars Sportsbook is dramatically cutting back on traditional marketing while Churchill Downs is ending its online sports betting and iGaming business altogether.

Total bets across US sports betting and iGaming more than doubled to $7.7 billion in the quarter with revenue of $574 million in the first quarter. That came from a 43% increase in average monthly players to 2.4 million.

There was a flood of customers signing up for Super Bowl betting, as the day of the game was FanDuels single biggest day ever for new customers. More than 1.5 million players were active on Super Bowl Sunday.

March Madness betting also set a new record with 19 million bets across the tournament.

FanDuel was the top online US sports betting operator in the quarter with a 37% market share, according to the trading update.

That kind of leadership position is not just from adding new customers but retaining old ones as well. FanDuel is seeing strong retention and the biggest reason is the strength and quality of our product, Jackson said:

Were seeing very, very good levels of retention. In fact I think its one of the things thats really helping to contribute to the very strong lifetime value that were seeing from customers. Were seeing really good engagement and repeat engagement with our customers.

And so I think whilst there are quite high levels of churn in the market as people avail themselves with some of these free offers, amongst our customer base were seeing people stay on our platform even if they take advantage of other peoples free money.

Jackson noted the online California sports betting proposal that should be on Novembers ballot has a best-in-class campaign team and significant levels of funding.

It also could bring in hundreds of millions in tax funds for homelessness and mental health solutions, he added. The measure would face a competing tribe-backed proposal that would limit the market to retail wagering for at least five years.

Were doing everything we can to make sure ours is successful. If it is successful and adheres to the expected timetable wed think the state would launch in time for the 2023 NFL season, Jackson said.

GIMMEtheRAYS (-115) because Kluber is an elite starting pitcher when healthy, and hes healthy, and Tampas lineup hammers lefties.

Kluber is a 3-time All-Star (2016-18) and 2017 AL Cy Young winner while pitching for Cleveland, although he has been plagued by injuries since 2019.

But last May, Kluber was dialed in for the Yankees and threw a no-hitter before getting bit by the injury bug. Klubers pitching peripherals support his impressive basic numbers and Im betting Kluber while hes still healthy.

The Rays are 6-1 overall vs. left-handed starters and their lineup ranks 4th in both wRC+ (130) and BB/K rate (0.49) and 5th in wOBA (.334) per FanGraphs.

Michigan Panthers Head Coach Jeff Fisher will look to rally his team after a tough one-point loss in Week 4. His club will face a Tampa Bay squad also coming off a disappointing defeat. Lets dive into the matchup with our Bandits-Panthers picks.

Both of these teams are entering Week 5 after a loss. Tampa Bays once-praised offense was rendered ineffective against Birminghams defense. A poor kicking game also left the Panthers heartbroken.

The Bandits were considered to be one of the leagues best teams, but theyve been inconsistent. And the 1-3 Panthers were once among the favorites to win the championship, but they may miss the postseason altogether.

Theyll kick off the weekend of football on Friday night looking to return to the win column and get back into the playoff conversation.

Here are my USFL Bandits-Panthers picks and predictions for Fridays game (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook; Pick confidence based on a 1-to-5 star scale).

None of the books seem to buy into the idea that the Panthers are gaining momentum. Despite two straight games with 24-plus and a shoutout win in the mix, Michigan still enters as the consensus underdog.

If you favor the Bandits, your best value can be found at DraftKings and Caesars, where theyre listed at -140. FanDuel gives you the better price on a Panthers upset at +125.

Both BetMGM and FanDuel are listing the point total at 33.5. However, BetMGM has juiced the line to -115, while FanDuels offering is more favorable at -110. The total is as high as 34 at both DraftKings and Caesars.

Tampa Bay came out flat last week in its loss to the Stallions, managing a mere 158 yards of offense. Quarterback Jordan Taamu supplied more than half of those yards. He threw for 125 yards and was the teams leading rusher while gaining 34 yards. Tampa Bay also allowed several lengthy Birmingham drives, including a 17-play series that took over nine minutes off the clock before ending in a touchdown. All 10 of the Panthers points came in the first half.

Meanwhile, the Panthers were a last-second field goal away from beating the Stars in Week 4. Unfortunately, kicker Michael Carrizosa didnt connect on his 21-yard attempt. Running back Reggie Corbin carried the day for Michigan with his 152 yards and a touchdown.

The Panthers have been slowly improving, and theyve now built enough momentum to steal a win from an inconsistent Tampa Bay club.

Michigans record doesnt tell the full story of this team, as the Panthers havent been blown out in any of their three losses. Their biggest defeat was a five-point setback in Week 1 against the Gamblers, and they suffered a single-point loss in Week 4. Their only win has been a 24-0 victory.

The Bandits have been on every side of the scoring spectrum over their first four games. They earned a one-point win and also lost in a lopsided 34-3 contest. Their inconsistency has made the teams games difficult to predict. That makes taking points a nice way to double up on investing in a Michigan win.

The Over hit during three of the four USFL Week 4 games. Michigan was a part that during its 26-25 contest against Philadelphia. But the Bandits game fell far short of reaching its 39-point total.

However, 11 of the 16 USFL games in 2022 have exceeded this mark. Teams are beginning to figure out how to score points four weeks into the season.
