Dominican Republic To Cut Off Unlicensed Lottery and Sports Betting Operators – Casino.Org News

The Dominican Republic (DR) continues to revamp its gambling industry in an effort to prove that it provides legitimate operations. After warning a few months ago that lottery and sports betting operators needed to register, the DR is following through with its promise to cut off those who dont.

The DR ran into trouble in May when allegations surfaced that a lottery draw was rigged. However, this past February, legislators already approved an initiative to begin a major reform. The alleged rigged draw served as a catalyst to give the issue more strength.

The new rules included the requirement that all lottery and sports betting operators needed to come forward and register in order to continue operating. The Ministry of Finance is now ready to begin forcefully eliminating those entities who have not complied.

Initially, the operators had until April 18 to register. Later, the Ministry of Finance extended the deadline to May 30, before extending it again to June 6. These delays were the result of disorganized management within the National Lotterys operations.

There was also friction between the government regarding the regularization process. For decades, legitimate operators followed the rules. However, there were also a number of those who didnt.

Sports betting is legal in the DR. However, there was previously no significant oversight. As a result, a number of sportsbooks began appearing that never registered with the Directorate of Casinos and Gambling (DCJA, for its Spanish acronym).

Regularizing the industry essentially gave the latter group a free pass after operating illegally for more than 20 years. This, according to the National Federation of Lottery Vendors, was not acceptable.

The DCJA, part of the Ministry of Finance, has been working with all entities on both sides to increase compliance. It has been regularly updating a list of names that have already completed the process, and time is running out.

This past Monday, the DCJA issued its latest ultimatum. The deadline to register has passed, and there wont be any more extensions. Entities that are not in compliance now face fines, seizure of equipment, forced closures, and possible legal action.

They could have some help tracking down those who refuse to conform. The DCJA is asking regularized operators to identify the illegal entities, which theyll likely do since it benefits them in the long run.

Since the DR began its crackdown, it has come to understand how big of an issue it had on its hands. There were 71,000 registered operators in July, according to the DCJA.

This means the DR eventually can start collecting more tax revenue. However, the National Directorate of Internal Taxes (DNII, for its Spanish acronym) isnt seeing green yet. It stated recently that just because the entities have completed the registration process doesnt mean that they are legal and are contributing revenue.

That process is on its way. The Ministry of Finance is going to work with the DNII to draft the necessary measures. Because there were so many unregulated entities operating in the country for so long, the DR has had difficulty determining how much revenue the regulated segment may hold.

DAZN partners to launch its own sports betting brand – iGaming Brazil

Posted: at 1:56 pm

DAZN has taken an important step towards taking advantage of the impressive growth of the sports betting market around the world. The group has signed a deal with Pragmatic Solutions to launch its own sports betting brand, DAZN Bet.

According to the company, DAZN Bet will be a social gaming experience for sports fans. The intention is to diversify the companys sources of revenue, with the objective of also selling goods, tickets and NFTs.

According to the MKT Esportivo website, the project is still in a beta stage. DAZN argues that this initiative is being carried out so that it can understand how users engage with a betting offer.

In addition, the launch of the project is expected to take place in the UK. However, DAZN Bet should reach other licensed markets quickly, such as Canada and Spain.

The initial launch of DAZN Bet is the start of an exciting journey across media and sports betting, and further fulfills the commitments we have made to revitalize the display of sports for fans, said Mark Kemp, CEO of DAZN Bet.

According to Kemp, the aim is to develop an entertainment product that is even richer and more engaging for the public. We are on a mission to create a richer entertainment product that, over time, will be integrated into DAZNs daily sports business wherever possible.

The CEO of DAZN Bet concluded: While this market entry is a learning phase, our goal is to provide the global community of DAZN sports fans with a fantastic recreational sports betting product.

DAZN bills itself as the first live and on-demand sports-focused streaming service on the planet. The platform has national and international sports tournaments. The service can be accessed by most devices such as Smart TVs, smartphones, tablets, video games and computers.

The platform debuted in August 2016 in Japan, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, then expanded to Canada in 2017, Italy and the United States in 2018. The following year, the service arrived in Spain and Brazil. Currently, DAZN is available for over 200 countries and territories.

Perks and Bonuses Associated With Using the Best Crypto Sports Betting Sites in 2022 – The Sports Bank

Posted: at 1:56 pm

All online punters anticipate receiving the best betting services on their gambling platforms. Many are happy with a few benefits and advantages when using a preferred cryptocurrency sports betting site. However, others will take all considerable measures to benefit from VIP benefits and opportunities at the best crypto sports betting sites.

Top crypto sports betting sites know this, which explains why they provide extensive VIP promotions and loyalty programs. Like their physical counterparts land-based and brick-and-mortar betting sites, Bitcoin betting sites strive to pamper and appease their most loyal and high-roller customers with the best opportunities and latest features. However, in this article, we will discuss all you need to know about the perks and bonuses of the best crypto sports betting sites.

You can receive several rewards if you frequently play at cryptocurrency sports betting sites that provide VIP bonuses. Below is a list of some of the best tips weve put together for you.

Crypto sports betting site bonuses may also include additional deposit bonuses. However, players who make deposits can get up to a 100% bonus on all their deposits on the Bitcoin sports betting sites.

Moreover, they also offer to welcome bonuses that allow new punters to get started on the crypto sports betting sites. Punters should remember these offers vary from one BTC sportsbook to the other. Furthermore, the worth of prizes you will get is related to their worth and value.

Most top cryptocurrency sportsbooks will give you loyalty points for placing bets on top sports competitions such as Premier League. Moreover, they are frequently used for two objectives. First, as mentioned earlier, punters can use them to leverage new levels of loyalty.

Second, they are commonly accumulated and then exchanged for rewards in the form of cash. In a rewards store, you might occasionally be able to use your loyalty points to buy VIP benefits.

Two of the most common VIP incentives offered at cryptocurrency sports betting companies are free spins and cashback offers. With the former, you can typically play popular Bitcoin slots for free with a chance to win real money.

These will probably only be available on a select few slots, and they will nearly always be played for the minimum bet across all open lines. Contrarily, cashback bonuses typically restrict the number of games you can play and the amount you can wager per spin, hand, etc. Youll receive additional free spins or cash incentives as you advance in a VIP program.

The crypto sports betting site may decide to reward you with specialised bonuses and personalised promos if you are a very high-ranking customer of the platform. For instance, players who frequently participate in tournaments could be asked to participate in VIP tournaments and other special events.

Additionally, lovers of slot games get free spins on any machine used regularly. They can include higher table limits for big rollers or provide unique prize pools to members of your loyalty tier.

You may have noticed that bonuses at sports betting companies with VIP bonuses dont always come in cash. However, two well-known advantages are shorter withdrawal periods and tighter withdrawal limitations.

Both benefits may be reserved for a loyalty programs top participants or may be improved for all participants as you advance up the VIP system.

The benefits above and VIP rewards are not for all the crypto sports betting websites. However, crypto sites like Ethereum sportsbook will provide services with fast operations and transactions and offer to bet on esports games as additional benefits.

Furthermore, your Bitcoin betting sites might not offer any of these deals. However, as they are typically the most common offers, they are available in top crypto sports betting sites with VIP bonuses having secure and safe operations.

Depending on the kind of service the crypto sport betting sites offer, there are different procedures for claiming crypto rewards. For instance, many well-known crypto sports betting sites employ a points-based and tier-based system. Gaining new membership tiers or levels allows you to access advantages (daily, weekly, monthly, or one-time).

If you meet specific criteria, another sportsbook might give you VIP bonuses; alternatively, they might decide to do so randomly. In reality, visiting the sportsbook bonus page and reading up on it are the only ways to learn how to use bonuses at your Bitcoin betting sites.

The most popular kind of cryptocurrency sports betting bonus is based on points and tiers. Points, often known as loyalty or VIP clubs, are earned when you wager on games. Players can then use these points to determine their loyalty tier and level. Then, based on your story, you can claim a certain kind of advantage. As you move up the loyalty ladder at a Bitcoin sportsbook, the promotions get greater (in most cases).

Most cryptocurrency sports betting sites that provide VIP benefits will enroll you in a loyalty program as soon as you sign up. Youll start receiving loyalty points as you start betting, and then youre set to go.

But not all cryptocurrency betting sites offer loyalty programs; some only offer VIP promotions. You typically have to be individually chosen (or invited) by the site to receive these discounts. It would help if you played regularly or with a lot of money to have the best chance of being selected for these rewards.

DraftKings to Offer Micro-Betting on Nearly Every College Football Game This Season – Casino.Org News

Posted: at 1:56 pm

Last updated on: August 25, 2022, 12:06h.

DraftKings bettors will not have a shortage of wagering opportunities during the upcoming college football season, which kicks off this weekend.

The sportsbook and iGaming leader announced today that the platform will offer micro-betting on almost every college football game this season. Powered by Simplebet, DraftKings will allow bettors to bet on the outcome of each down and drive. The sportsbook expects to take action on over 100,000 plays during the 2022-23 regular NCAA football season.

DraftKings micro-betting lines will be available wherever the sportsbook operates online. DraftKings mobile operations are currently limited to Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

DraftKings partnered with Simplebet a year ago this month for micro-betting. Simplebet is a business-to-business tech firm that utilizes computer learning to allow every moment of every sports betting event to become a betting opportunity.

Simplebets turnkey sportsbook add-on product seamlessly allows an online operator like DraftKings to incorporate micro-betting lines. Unlike traditional sports betting where bettors wager on the outcome of a game either straight up or with a points spread, micro-betting breaks things down to provide in-game betting throughout the competition.

Before micro-betting, in-game betting was limited to scenarios such as which college football team would score more points in a specific quarter and if a certain player would rush for a certain number of yards. Micro-betting takes things further to allow betting on the result of the offensives next play, or in baseball, whether the next pitch will be a ball or strike.

DraftKings will offer users three in-game betting opportunities for most college games this season.

DraftKings micro-betting lines will additionally enable users to bet if a team will reach a specific yard line such as the 50 or red zone.

Sportsbooks and leagues see in-game betting as a way to increase fan engagement. Micro-betting comes with regulatory difficulties, but Simplebet claims its product is able to quickly produce in-game lines, take bets, and close the market all in a matter of seconds. While occasional glitches should be expected, state regulators will keep close tabs on DraftKings debut of micro-betting this college football season.

Assuming the platforms launch goes relatively smoothly, gaming analysts at JPMorgan believe micro-betting will quickly bypass traditional betting in terms of handle and sportsbook income. The financial services firm expects Americans to wager more than $9 billion legally on sports annually by 2025, with nearly $7 billion coming from in-game and micro-betting lines.

Problem gambling specialists say micro-betting poses substantial risks.

Micro-betting shortens the lag between bet and reward, increasing the speed and frequency of gambling, which increases the risk of problematic behavior and negative consequences, said Keith Whyte, executive director of the National Council on Problem Gambling.

Some Kansas Sports Betting Regulations Shot Down by State Attorney General – Covers

Posted: August 22, 2022 at 11:53 pm

But what the AGs regulatory qualms mean for the forthcoming launch of legal sports betting in Kansas remains to be seen.

Last Updated: Aug 22, 2022 2:41 PM ET Read Time: 2 min

The launch of legal sports betting in Kansas ran into a bump in the road on Friday, as the states attorney general rejected several wagering-related regulations that the legal office says need fixing.

A soft launch of online sports betting is expected on September 1 in Kansas, followed by a full launch a week later. Several mobile sportsbooks are expected to go live in the state as soon as possible.

However, according to a press release, the office of Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt went over the state lotterys proposed rules for retail and online sports betting and found several issues that need work.

The attorney generals office has completed its expedited, but thorough, review of the several proposed regulations from the Kansas Lottery related to sports wagering and has approved three of those regulations and returned the others to the Kansas Lottery identifying specific shortcomings that must be remedied, said John Milburn, public information officer for the AGs office, in a statement. We look forward to the Lottery quickly resolving these legal problems and resubmitting the regulations.

The AGs office noted that proposed regulations are ordinarily reviewed by the Division of the Budget and Department of Administration as well, but the states sports-betting law exempted the sports-betting rules from their scrutiny.

Thus, in this case, the attorney generals office is the only reviewer that can identify errors committed by the agencies in the hurried drafting of regulations that affect millions of dollars in wagering activity, and we take that responsibility seriously, Milburn said in the statement.

Separate regulations proposed by the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission last week are still being reviewed by the AGs office, and we will continue to expedite that process, Milburn said.

What the AGs regulatory qualms mean for the forthcoming launch of legal sports betting in Kansas remains to be seen. A spokesperson for the Kansas Lottery did not respond to an email from Covers before this story was published.

There could be a political dimension to the issue as well. Schmidt, notably, is running for governor against current Gov. Laura Kelly, who announced the start date for sports betting and signed the state's wagering bill into law.

Legalizing sports betting is a common-sense solution that keeps Kansans money in Kansas and drives business to sporting events, casinos, restaurants, and other entertainment venues, Kelly said in an August 18 press release. I want to thank all our partners for working with us to get this done in time for football season.

Louisiana Sportsbooks Ratchet Up Win Rate in July as Handle Falls – Covers

Sports betting in Louisiana was a quieter affair in July same as everywhere else in the United States but online operators wound up winning a whole lot more.

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board heard on Monday that retail and online sportsbooks in the state accepted a combined $118.3 million in wagers last month, down more than 10% compared to June.

Louisiana's 17 retail sportsbooks, sprinkled across the state at casinos and racetracks, took almost $15 million in bets during the month. The seven online sportsbooks in the state handled the lion's share of action, registering $103.3 million in wagers.

Yet revenue from legal sports betting in Louisiana shot up to $20.6 million for July, nearly double the $10.65 million won in June and good for a hold of around 17.4%.

Online sports betting only legally launched in Louisiana in late January, so there is no year-over-year comparison for Julys action. However, its safe to say that July which had no NFL football or NBA playoffs definitely qualified as the offseason for bookmakers.

Historically, as I've done some reading across the country, July is a slower month for sportsbooks, Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman Ronnie Johns said during Mondays meeting. So the win ratio being up we generated more money for the state and for local government for early childhood education.

Opinion: Banning In-State College Betting Is Pointless And Performative – Legal Sports Report

Posted: at 11:52 pm

If you like college sports betting but live in a state without legal sports betting and still want to wager, that probably means you have to do so in an unregulated market.

The unregulated market might be a guy down the street or someone running a book offshore. One thing we know about bettors is that even if sports betting is not legal in a state, it is still happening. People will find a way to bet they always have.

The fact that people will find a way to bet on the sports that they want to bet on makes decisions like that of Massachusetts to exclude wagering on in-state college teams from regulated markets in the name of integrity all the more preposterous.

Despite the fact that restricting college betting on certain teams almost certainly does not eliminate the wagers (it just pushes them into other markets,) states continue to line up to exclude wagering on in-state teams.

The decision to exclude wagering on in-state teams is nothing short of bad policy. In the worst-case scenario, it forces bettors to wager in unregulated markets.

In a slightly less bad scenario, it forces bettors into neighboring states sending money out of state. Neither does anything to improve the integrity of sporting events.

The simple answer is, no one is listening to me.

But the decision to exempt in-state teams dates back to Nevada. Back while PASPA was still in force, it did not allow wagering on in-state teams for a while.

It was not until college sports betting caught the eye of the Maverick John McCain that Nevada realized it was a bad look to claim that wagering on college sports in regulated markets was not an integrity threat while saying that betting on the UNLV Rebels and Nevada Wolf Pack had to continue only in the shadows. In 2001, Nevada changed its tune and allowed wagering on in-state teams just like it had taken bets on colleges from every other state.

While Nevada changed its tune, New Jersey legislators planned to exclude wagering on in-state teams from the get-go. Indeed, it was one of the hypocrisies of the litigation and something that the plaintiffs lawyers, representing the NCAA, possibly should have attacked with greater ferocity.

Presented with a new opportunity to allow betting on Princeton,Rutgers, or March Madness darling St. Peters, once again New Jersey elected not to allow the practice, this time the voters.

While there are certainly justifiable public policy reasons for not allowing wagering on certain events (things where someone might know the outcome, like theNBA Draft Lottery or professional wrestling,) we also probably do not want betting associated with events principally participated in by minors.

So while betting on the Little League World Series is probably not something that we should see in the regulated market even if some unregulated markets allow it, it is a different story when we already allow betting on competitions in the same sport, in the same league, just only on teams from out of state.

If it is not an integrity threat to bet on Rutgers in Philadelphia, then it is no more an integrity threat to be able to bet on Rutgers in Camden or anywhere else in the Garden State. Unfortunately, a lot of the collegiate representatives who have lobbied hard for these exceptions are actually hurting the underlying integrity of the games.

For several decades, the first line of defense against manipulation of sporting events was Nevada sportsbooks. It was Nevada sportsbooks who uncovered the Tulane point-shaving scandal, the Arizona State point-shaving episode, and the Toledo point-shaving scandals involving the mens basketball and football teams. In all these situations, unusual activity was detected and the proper authorities were alerted.

In contrast, if you look at how NBA referee Tim Donaghys improper betting was detected or how the Boston College scandal unfolded, both of those were effectively found fortuitously because of where the bets were being placed.

The regulated market works because sportsbooks in the regulated market have interests that align with the sports leagues in terms of integrity. For all the fancy algorithms that are out there, it is still the sportsbooks themselves that serve as a primary means of defense.

Algorithms cannot replace human intelligence. But human intelligence is only useful if it is allowed to exist.

It is unclear if states will stop this nonsensical practice. Massachusetts has banned betting on in-state teams, and though North Carolina failed to pass a bill expanding sports gambling in the state, efforts included a ban on wagering on in-state teams.

If legislators want to protect collegiate athletes, they should be working to ensure that some of the tax money that comes in is being used to educate college athletes, and provide services to college athletes and others that may suffer from problem gambling tendencies. The solution is not to confine the wagering to an unregulated market.

How Caesars Created The Emperor’s Sports Betting Groove – Sports Handle

Posted: at 11:52 pm

Storytelling, when done right, sells.

In the sports wagering space, ad spend is scrutinized because, other than revenue, customer acquisition cost is the financial metric arguably most obsessed over by operators. If an operator keeps ad spend in check, it offers the chance to increase profit margin.

There is no tried and true method for mobile advertising campaigns. After all, the publics taste is as fickle as the weather. Todays great-tasting chocolate ice cream may be tomorrows bland vanilla.

Some operators have large ad budgets to saturate radio and TV airwaves for an impending launch market. Some opt for name recognition and put athletes and celebrities front and center. Some have substantial social media reach, providing an upstart feel that resonates with certain demographics.

Caesars Sportsbook launched its We are all Caesars ad campaign slightly more than a year ago Aug. 2 marked the first anniversary of the first 30-second spot following its rebrand from William Hill. With actor/comedian J.B. Smoove starring as Caesar, the ads provided instant and lasting brand recognition for Caesars Sportsbook. The Caesars universe has expanded in ensuing seasons to include Academy Award-winning actress Halle Barry as Cleopatra and the Manning family of quarterbacks, Archie, Peyton, and Eli and non-QB Cooper.

The ad campaign is firing on all cylinders in starting its second year, with Cooper taking center stage in the debut of Season 4 unveiled Friday. But getting to this point required a sprint to launch that Caesars CMO of Digital Sharon Otterman recounted at last months SBC Summit in New Jersey and elaborated on further during interviews with Sports Handle.

Otterman did not get the chance to directly interact with Caesars until April 2021, following the completion of its acquisition of William Hill, since rules do not permit American and British-owned companies in potential mergers to talk. Otterman was coming to Caesars from William Hill, which was still better known for being Englands top sportsbook than as an entrant in the nascent U.S. marketplace.

We had just launched the William Hill brand, so we were like, Whew, we launched a brand! and now were like, Great! she said sarcastically of the takeover timing.

During the SBC Summit, Otterman compared the compressed timetable of 99 days for the Caesars rebrand to her once-favorite television show 24, complete with the metallic clock-ticking sound that drove home the urgency of the situation. Lacking direct access to Caesars, Otterman focused her team on consumer interaction to gauge the strength of the Caesars brand.

We did spend a lot of the time prior doing the research without being able to talk to Caesars during that acquisition period, she explained. Its a blank slate. Were launching a new sportsbook, what are all the things we wanted to learn from the brand and the consumer so that when we did get acquired, the last piece of the puzzle internally was what was the mission and the vision, and how do we bridge all that together?

What they learned was sobering. Caesars casino brand and brick-and-mortar sportsbook were known; Caesars online sports wagering product was anything but. Surveys revealed a 2% unaided brand awareness, which caught Otterman off-guard.

It really is one of those moments of holy s**t,' she said. As a consumer that lives in New York, goes to Atlantic City, I love betting on sports and gambling, I always revered the Caesars brand, loved the days of Muhammad Ali and Evel Knievel. It was so jarring to see in this space that we werent considered.

That limited awareness, though, also brought a silver lining. Otterman noted her team went from, Oh my god, Im nauseous, to a sense of oh my god, I can get this goal, because all I have to do is make you aware. The data didnt come back and say We cant picture Caesars being there. It was we werent top of mind because we werent there.

Otterman leaned on Caesars history when it came to brand positioning. She recalled the days of founder Jay Sarno, who opened Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in 1966 and deliberately left the apostrophe off Caesars because he wanted the venue to be everyones palace.

The idea of We are all Caesars was born, and Otterman recounted staff high-fiving and deploying road shows to getting everyone aligned. They recruited Smoove, whom Otterman labeled the perfect person for our Caesar and one of the hardest-working guys in show business. The challenge then became finding an agency that could turn around the concept in 66 days.

Enter Ten6, a relatively small London-based ad agency. Otterman had known founder and CEO Spence Kramer from their ESPN days in the early 2000s. Otterman had concerns that the project could be too much for Ten6 on such a tight schedule, but Kramer put those fears to rest during an unconventional agency pitch, which came minutes after the ceremonial ribbon cutting for Caesars sportsbook at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., in late May.

We had the insane notion, considering that Caesars had virtually no time between the pitch and trying to launch, to actually bring the head of the production company to the pitches, as if to say, If you like our work, we can be in production by the end of this week,' Kramer said in a recorded segment shown at the SBC Summit. The combination of our hunger, a pretty good idea, and the idea that we were practically in production once the creative got greenlit made for a very interesting and, thankfully, successful pitch.

That was the story, and were thrilled to continue working with Caesars Sportsbook to this day.

There were other moves Otterman and her team made ahead of the initial ad launch to promote brand awareness. You might have seen them if your state has legal sports wagering: Uber cars wrapped with chariot skins, goblets for use at Caesars brick-and-mortar locations, re-skinning the mobile app to tie in the Caesars Rewards program, NFL jersey promotions. All of this came about, as Otterman noted, because of the power of having all the employees really understand the brand positioning because we could go parallel paths and help build the brand.

The We are all Caesars campaign launched successfully and did its job in raising brand awareness, with subsequent spots sustaining the created momentum. That proved crucial because Caesars aggressively went into New York with deep pockets for ad spend and the most audacious launch promotion of any sportsbook, matching initial deposits up to $3,000. That haymaker combination continues to have aftereffects, as Caesars Sportsbook is a clear No. 3 in the Empire State, behind only titans FanDuel and DraftKings.

With new ads there will be four for this season come new challenges. Caesars will be cutting back on national ad spend as the NFL season start looms, instead looking to target specific markets. One focus likely will be Ohio, which is expected to have a universal Jan. 1 launch.

Caesars Sportsbook has positioned itself to be a prime player, and its emperors tales have been a vital part of that positioning. Otterman does not expect that to change simply because the medium conveying the message may change from traditional media to newer forms of social media.

We know we can be very, very efficient about getting a clear narrative across, she said. There are several ways you can make sports wagers both online and in retail sportsbooks and plenty of bet types you'll want to familiarize yourself with. Here are just a few.

Over-Under: Basketball is king in North Carolina, so you should be very familiar with over-under bets. If a sportsbook sets the over-under for a game between Charlotte and Miami at 200, you wager whether you think the total of both teams' final scores will be over or under that number.

Outright: This is the most user-friendly bet you can place and is used a ton when wagering on car races and pro golf. You simply choose which person you think will win an entire sporting event and then place your bet.

Parlay: Parlay bets involve two or more sides in a single bet, so the odds are longer but the reward can be much bigger. If you bet $100 on a three-team parlay at 6-1 odds, that bet could win $600 if all three teams win.
