T-Birds Blanked in Everett Seattle Thunderbirds – seattlethunderbirds.com

Posted: October 17, 2021 at 5:04 pm

EVERETT, WA The Seattle Thunderbirds generated 31-shots on goal but could not sneak any past Everett goalie Koen MacInnes, dropping a 3-0 road decision to the Silvertips Saturday at Angel of the Winds Arena. Seattle returns to action Tuesday when they host the Spokane Chiefs at the accesso ShoWare Center. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

For the second straight night against Everett, the T-Birds generated early scoring chances, outshooting the Silvertips 10-3 by the midway point of the first period. As was the case the previous night at home in a 5-4 overtime loss, Seattle couldnt capitalize on their early opportunities as MacInnes shut the door.

Seattle head coach Matt ODette said the effort was there, just not the bounces. Very similar start as last night. It would be nice to see one of those go into the back of the net to get some momentum going. He said that onus is on the team. We didnt find ways to put pucks in the back of the net. It would have been nice to get an earlier power play to help us do that but the first one didnt come until late.

Then, near the midway point of the period, the T-Birds seemed to lose some of their momentum when they lost winger Reid Schaefer to an upper body injury. ODette said the loss of Schaefer was tough to overcome. Schaefs been playing really well for us, really driving play. When you lose a guy like that, whos been playing so well, other guys have to step up as it shortens your bench a little.

In another repeat from the previous game, the Silvertips scored towards the end of the first to grab the lead. Jackson Berezowski tapped in a pass from behind the Seattle net at 17:35 to score the first of his two goals on the night.

The Thunderbirds battled through the second period looking for the equalizer, but a late penalty led to a second Berezowski goal with just over a minute left. The Tips power play goal came on a night when Seattle played a more disciplined game. They limited Everett to just three power plays, one night after surrendering eight.

That was obviously a focus, said ODette, Weve been so good five on five this season, we need to play five on five more, which means staying out of the penalty box. We accomplished that.

The Silvertips stretched their lead to three goals when Olen Zellweger scored five minutes into the third period. The Thunderbirds were finally awarded their first power play with six minutes left. Once again they were able to create chances around the Everett net, but came up empty.

Despite going 0-2-1-0 in their last three games, team captain Ty Bauer says there is no panic with this team. Its early. Weve got a lot of kinks to work out but the heart, the raw talent on this team is something you havent seen in a long time. Bauer knows they have areas to clean up but the compete is there. These ones sting, especially against these rival teams. That being said, we never quit. We battled all the way to the end, we gave everything we had. We left it all out on the ice.

T-BIRDS EXTRAS

Seattle played the game without Lucas CIona who was handed a two-game suspension by the WHL for his five-minute charging major in Fridays overtime loss to Everett. Ciona will also miss Tuesdays home game against Spokane. Hes eligible to return to the lineup next Friday when the T-Birds travel to Kennewick to face the Tri-City Americans.

With the shutout loss to Everett Conner Roulette had his three game goal scoring streak snapped.

Novomatic details its strongest products and assests for Latin America – Yogonet International

Posted: at 8:55 pm

N

OVOMATIC has outlined its several assets aimed at strengthening its position as a leading technology provider to the gaming industry in the Latin American region.

They include a consolidated network of local subsidiaries and technical service units, which allow the group to provide premium customer consulting, service and support. NOVOMATIC not only leverages a strong product offering but also its experience as both a producer and an operator in the gaming segment, including a former network of operations in Latin American countries.

The "strongly localized" casino product offer for LatAm is popular with players and sees "excellent performance" for operators, according to the company. A recent example from the Progressives segment is the Thunder Cash Link, a jackpot offering that stood out both in terms of performance and popularity across LatAm and which eventually won this years SAGSE Award for the Best Land-based Progressive. NOVOMATIC was also the winner for the Best Electronic Roulette offering including the Novo Unity II, Lotus Roulette and single player Pinball Roulette, all of which are player favourites across the LatAm region.

NOVOMATICs internationally bestselling linked multi-game concept Cash Connection has evolved into Edition 2 and is about to enter the regions casino floors, as well. The line-up for the Novo Line Cash Connection Edition 2 comprises six all-time player favourites with a large fan base in their new Lock N Win version: Book of Ra; Charming Lady; Dolphins Pearl; Lord of the Ocean; Sizzling Hot and Voodoo Magic. With player-friendly multi-denomination, Mini and Minor Bonus, as well as a variety of settings for the Major and Grand jackpots, the company said this new Linked Progressive multi-game offer is a highlight on the casino floor. Due to the versatility of the software, the game is available in the NOVOMATIC single screen as well as multi-screen cabinets.

The Money Party Link is an "excellent performer" on casinos floors in the Americas, NOVOMATIC stated. In the US, it has made it in Eilers & Krejcik Gaming's Report, ranking continuously #1 or #2 in the Small Suppliers list since July 2019. The titles Fruity Fruity and Juicy Juicy have established themselves within LatAm players as well, offering classic fruit games with varieties of Wilds, a Mystery Bonus pick & win feature and the Money Party Respin Feature as well as two progressive levels for Grand and Major.

At the G2E in Las Vegas, NOVOMATIC again presented a broad display of products and solutions with a great appeal for the LatAm markets. NOVOMATICs most recent launches in the Progressives segment include the brand new Ultra Boost Link with a set of three 50-line titles: Great American Buffalo, Great American Eagle and Tiger Storm, all three with the Lock & Spin Ultra Boost Feature, highlighting an additional reel matrix that players can unlock for extra Jackpot chances. Further Progressive highlights include the JI Deng Gao Zhao Link with the titles Lucky Trail and Lucky Path, both featuring a Rising Lantern feature as well as a Pick & Win game.

NOVOMATIC noted Latin American players have a preference for Progressives Mystery or Game-Driven, Standalone, Linked or even WAP adding that its teams have a broad portfolio of suitable content and solutions for every operator requirement at hand, including the myACP Casino Management System. "This modular system has a particularly strong footprint in the region. It offers a powerful set of tools for easy floor management and operational optimization. Its central management, processing and reporting functionalities fully satisfy the most stringent compliance and reporting requirements. Various customer-centric features help optimize the customer journey and support operators with personalized promotional functionalities," NOVOMATIC described.

Looking at the huge potential for sports betting across Latin America, NOVOMATIC believes it is well-positioned with a large experience in its European core markets but also with a strong recent market entry in the US. As the trend spreads south, with more and more LatAm countries introducing a regulatory framework for online gaming and sports betting, local operators will expectedly be seeking reliable and proven solutions ideally from a partner they know. "With new regulations opening further industry segments and creating operator demand for products in these maturing markets, NOVOMATIC will be at hand with a strong local network of teams, internationally proven product and the experience of an international group offering a 360 gaming portfolio," the company concluded.

Everybody Has a Story: What happens in Vegas – The Columbian

Posted: October 11, 2021 at 10:29 am

Many years ago, while hosting a morning radio show, I made the acquaintance of a psychic/seer who went by the name of Dr. Ramu. I never discovered what his given name was. I would suspect his drivers license probably designated him as Fred Smith or Harold Bargwart or some such.

Ramu had gathered a following, people who turned to him for life advice and predictions about the future. I decided Id feature him in a weekly segment on my program.

Friday became the designated day, in the 9 to 10 a.m. hour. I didnt want to put him in the critical 6 to 9 a.m. morning drive slot because fast pace and short-form information are what succeed with commuters. After 9, people are listening at their work desks or in their kitchens, and have a longer attention span.

Ramu arrived on the first Friday in a flowing purple robe, turban, and a melange of gold chains jangling around his neck. From an entertainment point of view, Ramu delivered. He did short but flamboyant on-air consultations with listeners, guiding them with mystic revelations about their lives.

He was an expert at divining insights about his marks and then using the knowledge to tell them what they wanted to hear. At the end of each segment, he would make predictions about things he saw happening in the future. Most were so open-ended that they were impossible to confirm or pooh-pooh. On the rare occasion one of them came true, he would trumpet his triumph for the entire show.

Ramu was popular and became a regular feature. I was a skeptic but ratings are ratings. One Friday, before my future-former wife and I were headed to Las Vegas, Ramu went into one of his trances.

I see a roulette wheel, he chanted. I see the number five. Place a $5 bet on the number five.

We hopped our cheap flight to Vegas and holed up in an inexpensive room on the Strip. Over the next couple of days we caught a couple of filthy and not very funny stand-up comics in the lounges, played the nickel slots and ate discount steak.

On our way out of the casino on Sunday morning, Betty and I passed a roulette wheel.

Ooh, ooh, she said. Remember what Ramu said, $5 on number five.

Or, I answered, I could just march right into the bathroom and flush the bill down the toilet.

You have to do it, she insisted. So you can tell your listeners what happened. Put Ramu in his place.

Fine. I snorted, pulled a $5 bill out of my wallet and laid it on the table.

The stick man gave me a thumbs-up, exchanged it for a casino chip, and dropped it on the five. Clickety-clickety-clickety-click. The roulette ball skipped and danced around the wheel. Finally, it hopped in the air and came down in the slot for the red five.

You could have flown a 747 into my open mouth. The roulette tender counted out $175 in chips and laid them next to my original bet.

Cmon, lets go, Betty said. Thats our rent for the month.

A strange sensation rolled through me, a psychic electricity the likes of which Id never felt. N n no. I I I want to let it ride.

Thats crazy talk, she said, scooping up the chips and turning toward the cashiers window. Lets go catch our flight.

But, I protested, if it hits that would be

The stickman finished my sentence for me $6,300. If you leave the original bet down.

Ramu is a total charlatan. You said so yourself. Cmon. Betty started pulling me away.

OK, youre right. We keep the money. The tingling ran through me again. But I have to watch.

The stickman shrugged, spun the wheel and let the ball drop into the numbered area to begin its fateful jitterbug.

Ill let you write the ending of this story for yourself.

Place Your Bets – The Premier League’s Roulette Wheel Has Just Been Spun – Vitalfootball

Posted: at 10:28 am

With the Premier League big six taking a fair old battering from fans of all colours following the failed European Super League suggestion, this years battle at the upper reaches of the English top flight table is quite intriguing.

Even though there have only been seven rounds of fixtures so far in 2021/22, an educated guess would say that the title will again either end up at the Etihad Stadium, Anfield, or Stamford Bridge and using Your Bonus Code to have a flutter on those three sides ultimately taking the prize would be a pretty safe bet.

However, granted we are at a very early stage of the year, Everton, Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford are all tied on points with City and above accepted top six sides Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, so for braver fans, the odds are certainly more favourable there, even if you feel they are currently punching well above their weight the question is, can they keep doing so.

Could 2021/22 see a similar sort of shake up to the leagues presumed finishing spots much in the way a remarkable Leicester City side swapped a relegation battle to storm to the title back in 2015/16?

They arent the only outside contenders at this early stage though.

West Ham United are enjoying a European adventure this year after their exploits last season and they are also only five points off top placed Chelsea, and although Aston Villas ambitious owners will want to see further improvement, they arent really spending to bridge the gap quickly having pulled a transfer window profit over the summer following the sale of Academy talisman Jack Grealish for a whopping 100 million but they are up there. As are Arsenal and Spurs.

The major disappointment so far in terms of expectations would be Leicesters own poor form, but theres a lot of football still to be played in the year, so you wouldnt rule them out of a top six battle come May.

Theres also another side to factor in now as well following this weeks developments. Newcastle Uniteds take over by Saudi Arabias Public Investment Fund has raised plenty of eyebrows, particularly as journalists crunched a few Financial Fair Play numbers and came to the conclusion that Steve Bruce (more likely a new appointment) could have up to 190 million available in January before FFP becomes a question.

Newcastle have started the year incredibly poorly and sit in the relegation zone without a win, but but if they can close that gap ahead of January, with that kind of money to spend, their own fortunes could dramatically change in the second half of the season.

It could all lead to a very interesting and unexpected final few months.

Britain and Europe forced to play Russian roulette with Putin’s gas – Telegraph.co.uk

Posted: October 9, 2021 at 7:26 am

It would be reasonable to question some of the robustness around the ESOs assumptions on interconnectors, said Adam Lewis, partner at energy trading company Hartree Solutions.

How certain can we be around the European markets to say they are not going to have their own supply issues this winter?

If we look at gas at the moment, it's a global issue. It's not a UK issue or even a European issue. We are all fighting for the same gas, and arguably, there could be a situation where we are all fighting for the same electricity.

In a separate outlook published on Thursday, National Grid said it also expects gas markets to balance this winter, predicting a fall in demand as wind turbines replace gas-fired plants. It does not offer a cost expectation.

As with electricity imports, price is king when it comes to making sure pipes from Europe are flowing in the right direction.

Russia, meanwhile, appears to be in a good position, riding a double supercycle of high oil and gas prices.

Gas prices are regulated here, notes Ron Smith, a senior oil and gas analyst at BCS Global Markets, based in Moscow. Its about 14/15 times lower [than in Europe].

Russian fertiliser producers are in a really good position as the price of gas hasnt changed. And you have European producers having to shut down.

DEA: You have better odds of surviving Russian Roulette than popping Fentanyl laced pills – KTAB – BigCountryHomepage.com

Posted: at 7:26 am

A public safety alert is being sent out by the DEA warning Americans of an unprecedented surge of fake pills that are being smuggled across the border. These pills, according to DEA PIO Carlos Briano, are being made to look exactly like everyday prescription pills, i.e. Percocet, Adderall and Oxycodone, but are laced with the highly deadly drug, Fentanyl.

There are so many counterfeit pills. The cartels are making them to seem like they are legitimate prescription pills, but theyre not. Instead of an active ingredient they are making it with Fentanyl.

Briano said that Fentanyl is 50 times more potent than Heroin, and two out of every five pills contain a deadly does of the drug, which is a mere 2 milligrams.

So that means that if five people were in this room and we all popped what we though was a Percocet two of us would die?

Are you familiar with the game of Russian Roulette? Briano asked, Thats a one in six. You have better odds of surviving Russian Roulette than popping some of these counterfeit pills because you have a two in five chance of dying. with Russian Roulette you have a one in six chance of dying.

According to the DEA, there has been a 524% increase in the amount of Fentanyl seized at the Southern border over the last few years. In fact, more than 9.5 million pills were seized this year alone. And in the 12 month period ending in January 2021, 279 Kilograms of Fentanyl was seized which is enough, he said, to potentially kill 139 million people.

Briano told KTSM that the reason cartels are making the fake pills and smuggling them across the border in unprecedented amounts, is because the demand in the United States is high, and the cost of making the Fentanyl laced pills is low.

Its profitable for them, with as little as $5,000 they can make up to $1.5 million dollars. With one Kilo of Fentanyl that they can make using precursor chemicals imported from China they can make millions of pills.

But the amount of Fentanyl added to each pill is not consistent because the pills are not being made in legitimate laboratories, instead, they are being manufactured in clandestine labs in Mexico.

The drug trafficking organizations, some of them are international. Once they have the precursor chemicals from China, Briano said The Mexican mega labs which are clandestine labs, make the Fentanyl and start pressing it into pills that are meant to look like Valium. Adderall, Percocet you name it.

Briano said that unsuspecting people here in the United States then go on social media, the dark web or the streets and think they are buying Hydrocodone or another legitimate prescription Opioid pill, but they are actually buying a potentially lethal pill laced with Fentanyl.

They dont even know fentanyl is in the pill, its high school kids who are experimenting, its college kids who are trying to stay up so they take an Adderall, its 30-year-olds, 40-year-olds, housewives, soldiers. Its senior citizens who were impacted by the pandemic and isolated so they turned to drugs.

And those drugs, according to Briano are much more dangerous than they used to be.

In my generation you could experiment with drugs and have a bad day or end up in the hospital. But now in this generation you experiment with drugs and you can get killed.

Biden Says Republicans Are Playing ‘Russian Roulette’ With Economy: ‘Get Out of the Way’ – Newsweek

Posted: October 7, 2021 at 4:06 pm

President Joe Biden isn't mincing words as the country careers toward an economic crisis, with Republicans and Democrats at odds over lifting the debt ceiling before a potential default later this month.

"If you don't want to help save the country, get out of the way so you don't destroy it," Biden said in a public address Monday. "They need to stop playing Russian roulette with the American economy."

The U.S. Treasury Department has estimated that the federal government could default on its debt by mid-October if Congress doesn't agree to raise the cap on the debt limit before then.

The U.S. House has agreed to the move, but the Senate, where Democrats have a narrow majority, has been locked up over the vote as Republicans oppose an increase. Senate GOP Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has vowed that Republicans won't support the debt ceiling bill because Democrats are seeking trillions for social programs.

"Since mid-July, Republicans have clearly stated that Democrats will need to raise the debt limit on their own," McConnell wrote in a letter to Biden on Monday. He went on to accuse Democrats of treating bipartisanship as a "light switch" to use for raising the debt limit while following a Democrats-only path toward bigger spending proposals.

"We have no list of demands. For two and a half months, we have simply warned that since your party wishes to govern alone, it must handle the debt limit alone, as well," the Kentucky Republican wrote.

Biden told reporters he plans to speak with McConnell on the matter later on Monday.

Democrats could take the rare route of increasing the debt limit without bipartisan support, but that will require a Senate procedural maneuver that could take two weeks or more.

Democratic leaders have sought ways to avoid this track, but the GOP has repeatedly blocked them.

Initially, the Democrats had tried to couple the debt ceiling increase with a stopgap measure to fund the government through early December and avert a federal shutdown, but Senate Republicans blocked the measure. Democratic leaders then decoupled the two proposals to continue funding the government.

In a letter to Democratic colleagues on Monday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said members will meet for lunch Tuesday to continue discussing the path forward, but he emphasized that the debt ceiling issue should be resolved as soon as possible. He and other Democrats have argued that the debt issue is largely due to a large business tax cut approved under then-President Donald Trump and the bipartisan pandemic relief bills.

"Our Republican colleagues have completely abdicated their responsibility to the nation by refusing to pay for the spending and debts incurred as a result of the bipartisan COVID relief legislation passed during the Trump administration," Schumer wrote. "Let me be clear about the task ahead of us: we must get a bill to the president's desk dealing with the debt limit by the end of the week. Period."

Schumer called it a "pivotal moment," with Democrats having narrow margins of control over the House and Senate and holding the White House. But they are struggling to navigate passage of Biden's major agenda proposals. The looming debt ceiling crisis has largely overshadowed last week's fight over an infrastructure bill and a broader $3.5 trillion budget package to expand the social safety net and address climate change. Agreement among Democratic progressives and moderates fizzled last week, but negotiations continue.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told lawmakers that Congress has until mid-October to adjust the debt ceiling and avoid the United States' first-ever government default.

"We now estimate that Treasury is likely to exhaust its extraordinary measures if Congress has not acted to raise or suspend the debt limit by October 18," Yellen wrote.

Congress has temporarily placed on the back burner the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill and the separate $3.5 trillion spending plan, with Biden pushing for both to get passed.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly pushed back self-imposed deadlines to get the infrastructure bill through, while the Senate continues to hash out the details of the larger spending package and its final cost. In a letter to colleagues over the weekend, she set a new October 31 deadline for the infrastructure measure.

Review: Diversionary’s ‘One in Two’ asks audience who will be next in the HIV roulette? – The San Diego Union-Tribune

Posted: at 4:05 pm

Just as the COVID pandemic will no doubt inspire playwrights in future years, the AIDS epidemic has been a major inspiration for many plays produced over the past 35 years at Diversionary Theatre, the third-oldest LGBTQ theater in America.

But theres one story about the HIV/AIDS epidemic that hasnt been told at the University Heights theater until now. Donja R. Loves One in Two, which opened Diversionarys 2021-22 season on Saturday, is named for the shocking statistic that one in two gay or bisexual Black men in America will be diagnosed with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, in their lifetime. That compares to one in four among Latino gay and bisexual men and one in 11 gay or bisexual White men, according to 2018 figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Love himself identifies as an HIV-positive, Afro-queer man, and the central character in his 80-minute play is his alter-ego, an HIV-positive gay Black male playwright whos planning to write a script about his experience. That self-referential nod is just one of many fascinating aspects of this funny, interesting and unusual play.

Reminiscent of Jean-Paul Sartres existential drama No Exit, about three characters trapped for eternity in a purgatorial waiting room, One in Two also takes place in a sterile white-walled waiting room designed by Victoria Petrovich. Three Black gay men take a number and wait their turn to re-enact for the audience their life-and-death battle with HIV/AIDS. On the wall, a digital clock ticks constantly upward, no doubt registering the escalating diagnoses among this population (in 2018, there were 9,712 new diagnoses in this community, or 26 percent of the national total).

Durwood Murray, left, and Carter Piggee in Diversionary Theatres One in Two.

(Simpatika)

But on this day, one of these three nameless men decides to break the routine. In true Brechtian fashion, he breaks the fourth wall to ask the audience by a show of applause to decide who will go first in telling their story, which the other two men will support by playing different characters in the first mans life. On opening night, it was actor Carter Piggee who was chosen to play the central role.

Piggee and his co-stars, Durwood Murray and Kevane LaMarr Coleman, are trained to play all three characters, so audiences could see a different show every night, depending on their applause. The randomness of who will be chosen is a good representation of the toss-of-the-dice danger the virus represents to this community. All three men are so good in the roles they played on opening night, its hard to imagine any better fit. But under the crackling, smart and knowing direction of Delicia Turner Sonnenberg and associate director Frankie Alicea-Ford, no doubt any arrangement of the excellent actors would work well.

The story begins with the main character, Dont, learning of his diagnosis. He falls into a depression, heavy drinking, irresponsible behavior and suicidal thoughts. Years slide by before he finds some peace and community in the company of other gay Black men living with HIV. As one nurse character tells Dont of his emotional struggle: sometimes the hurt is a bigger virus than the HIV.

The play travels back to childhood sexual awakening and then forward through relationships with friends, family and lovers, with lots of tension-breaking humor sprinkled throughout.

Piggee had a youthful, impulsive energy as Man No. 1, who played Dont on opening night. Coleman had grace, sass and fierce stage presence playing a flamboyant man with HIV and Dont's mother, who loves him deeply but doesnt want anyone in their family circle to know about his sexuality. And Murray has a warm, gentle presence, playing both a married man with HIV and Dont's kinda ex-boyfriend.

The play is best suited for an adult audience, with raw language, talk about suicide and a scene of sexuality and simulated nudity. Turner Sonnebergs direction doesnt shy away from the honesty of its adult situations, but she finds the heart of these characters and the humor in Loves writing that makes it mind-opening and accessible to theatergoers who havent seen these stories before.

When: 7 p.m. Thursdays; 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 2 p.m. Sundays. Through Oct. 24.
