Sun Prairie beats Middleton, primed to win conference – HNGnews.com

Posted: October 15, 2021 at 9:15 pm

Excluding the shortened alternate spring season where not all Big Eight conference schools participated, Sun Prairie hasnt gone undefeated in conference play since 2017. It looks as though that short-lived streak will end this season as the Cardinals have now passed their greatest test. Sun Prairie outlasted Middleton, 26-21, on Friday, Oct. 8 to move to 9-0 on the season and 6-0 in conference play.

Up until the inevitable date with Middleton, Sun Prairie had coasted through the Big Eight. It was winning by huge margins against largely outmatched opponents. Early on Friday, it was clear that the cakewalk was over.

Middleton struck first. Sophomore quarterback Gabe Passini fired a pass to a wide open Cole Toennies up the right sideline which he took in for a long 61-yard score. With the extra point, Sun Prairie faced its largest deficit of the season at seven points. The lead didnt last long.

Sun Prairie junior quarterback Jerry Kaminski was a calming hand, as he has been all season. He orchestrated a drive down the field, picking up yardage with both his arm and his legs. On the eight yard line, senior receiver Addison Ostrenga bullied his way inside on a jam attempt from the Middleton corner and found himself wide open in the endzone. Kaminski fired a dart right into the breadbasket, tying the game at 7 as the first quarter neared its end.

A forced punt later, it looked like Sun Prairie would kick off another long drive to take the lead back. A fumble ruined those plans. The ball teetered around the field and found its ways into the hands of Middletons Blake Van Buren. He sprinted untouched into the endzone from 10 yards away, giving the lead right back to Middleton, 14-7.

Sun Prairie needed an answer. Luckily, the ground game was working well. Specifically, Cortez LeGrant was working well. He was pounding the rock all game and was an invaluable part of the offensive gameplan. He punched in a run from five yards out just before halftime to tie the game at 14.

Sun Prairie junior running back Cortez LeGrant bursts upfield against Middleton Friday, Oct. 8. His 149 rush yards helped boost Sun Prairie over Middleton, 26-21.

The drama was only beginning. To kick off the third quarter, Sun Prairie took the lead for the first time in the game. Kaminski found sophomore Connor Stauff for a 6-yard score, but the extra point was missed. A 20-14 lead left Sun Prairie in a position to be easily overtaken if the defense let another touchdown slip.

However, as it has been all season, the defense was clutch when it was needed. It bought the offense some time as it shut down multiple Middleton drives. The offense couldnt produce the necessary insurance score. So, the defense took it into its own hands.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Passini didnt see senior linebacker Davis Hamilton dropping into coverage. Hamilton went up and snagged an interception, using his skills as a receiver to weave through Middleton players to score from 37 yards out. Sun Prairie went for the 2-point conversion for maximum insurance, but it failed. Still, Sun Prairie had the insurance it needed, a 26-14 lead with time winding down.

There was no quit in Middleton. Passini rebounded from the pick and put together a solid drive. He fired off a 21-yard score Toennies to narrow the deficit to 26-21. The comeback attempt was not to be, however, as there simply wasnt time. Sun Prairie held on for the win.

Kaminski completed 10 of his 19 passing attempts for 153 yards and two scores on the day. LeGrant led the way in rushing with 150 yards on 18 attempts. Hamilton was the biggest receiver on the day, turning five receptions into 97 yards.

Sun Prairies defense deserves plenty of credit for its shutdown mentality in the run game. Middleton felt the absence of senior running back Elijah Gray, who was not allowed to play after being ejected from the previous weeks game. Sophomore Bryce Falk couldnt pick up the slack, gaining just 65 yards on 18 attempts. It was a dominant performance from the Sun Prairie front seven.

The Big Eight crown is well within reach for Sun Prairie, but its not clinched yet. Theres one game left to play.

Friday, Oct. 15, Sun Prairie travels to Verona. The Wildcats sit at 3rd place in the Big Eight with a 4-2 conference record. Verona looked impressive against some of the lesser teams in the conference but suffered big losses to Madison Memorial and Middleton, two teams Sun Prairie has handled this season.

The Wildcats will come into the game well-rested as they did not play Friday. Madison East cancelled and they were not able to find a replacement game.

A win on Friday would secure an outright Big Eight crown for Sun Prairie and an undefeated regular season.

The Symbiotes Clash in Fortnite has begun, and this is where you may gain Carnage or Venoms skills.

Carnage and Venom, the Fortnite Symbiotes, have made their presence known in the battle royale, and if you can get your hands on one of these fabled weapons, you can drastically boost your chances of winning. If youre unfamiliar with the Marvel Universes Symbiotes,

Heres a quick rundown: theyre extraterrestrials who can join with a host to grant them exceptional powers and skills, allowing you to get an advantage over your opponents in Fortnite matches during the Symbiotes Clash.

Both Carnage and Venom may be extracted, but you must first locate them in order to use their abilities. Thats why were here to assist you, so lets go over how to find the Fortnite Symbiotes and how their abilities operate once you have them.

The Fortnite Symbiotes are only in the game until October 18, according to a recent news splash screen in the menu, so if you want to try out the Carnage or Venom skills, make sure you track them down immediately.

The locations of the Fortnite Symbiotes will appear on the map once the first Storm circle has formed, as indicated by the icons in the image above. Carnage is represented by a red icon, whereas Venom is represented by a black image, and while they can spawn anywhere, they tend to prefer the Boney Burbs and Corny Crops locations.

Once the location has been revealed, get there as soon as possible and engage with the cannister to obtain Carnage or Venom abilities. Each Symbiote only emerges once per match, so if another player takes it first, the only way to gain possession is to remove them.

You can only have one of the Fortnite Carnage or Venom Symbiotes at a time, and if you try to pick up a second one, the first one you have will be instantly dropped.

Collecting the Fortnite Carnage or Venom Symbiote grants you access to the same set of special abilities, the most notable of which is a massive tendril fist that you can launch in front of you.

If it hits another player, it will cause 60 damage before drawing them close to you make sure you have a close range weapon nearby to switch to and finish them off, otherwise youll be setting yourself up for danger by coming face to face with your opponent.

You cant blindly spam this attack to do maximum damage to your surroundings because it takes 10 seconds to recharge.

The Fortnite Symbiotes also provide passive benefits simply by existing in your inventory, allowing you to sprint faster and jump further even if you have another weapon equipped.

Youll still receive damage if you fall too far, but you can use this power to redeploy a Symbiotic Sail at any time while falling to enter a glide and safely return to Earth.

Sean – Wikipedia

Given name

Sean is a male given name of Irish origin.[1] Its correct Irish spelling is Sen [an] or San [en], while an older form is Seaghn or Sean. It is the Irish spelling of the Biblical Hebrew name Yohanan (), rendered John in English and Johannes/Johann/Johan in other Germanic languages. The Norman French Jehan (see Jean) is another version. Sen is the source for English versions such as Shaun, Shawn and Shon. San reflects the Ulster pronunciation[2] and is anglicized Shane, Shaine or Shayne.

For notable people named Sean, refer to List of people named Sean.

The name was adopted into the Irish language most likely from Jean, the French variant of the Hebrew name Yohanan. As Gaelic has no letter J (a consonant derived from the vowel I that has not been adopted into all languages that use the Latin alphabet; English also lacked the J until the latter 17th Century, with John having previously been spelt Iohn), an S was substituted, as was the normal Gaelic practice in adapting Biblical names that in other languages contain J (Sine/Siobhn for Joan/Jane/Anne/Anna; Seonaid/Sinad for Janet; Seumas/Samus for James; Seosamh/Sesaidh for Joseph, and so on). In 1066, the Norman duke, William the Conqueror conquered England, where the Norman French name Jahan/Johan (Old French:[dn], Middle English:[dan])[citation needed] came to be pronounced Jean,[clarification needed] and spelled John. The Norman from the Welsh Marches, with the Norman King of England's mandate invaded parts of Leinster and Munster in the 1170s. The Irish nobility in these areas were replaced by Norman nobles, some of whom bore the Norman French name Johan or the anglicised name John. The Irish adapted the name to their own pronunciation and spelling, producing the name Sen (or Seathan). Sean is commonly pronounced "Shawn" (Sen), but in the northern parts of Ireland (owing to a northern dialect), it is pronounced "Shan", "Shen" or "Shayn" (San, with the fada on the e instead of the a),[citation needed] thus leading to the variant Shane.

The name was once the common equivalent of John in Gaelic-speaking areas of Scotland (largely identifiable with the Highlands and Islands), but has been supplanted by a vulgarization of its address form: Iain or Ian.[3] When addressing someone named Sen in Irish, it becomes a Shein [ an], and in Scotland was generally adapted into Scots and Highland English as Eathain, Eoin, Iain, and Ian (John has traditionally been more commonly used in the Scots-speaking Lowlands than any form of Sen). Even in Highland areas where Gaelic is still spoken, these anglicisations are now more common than Sen or Seathan, undoubtedly due in part to registrars in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland having long been instructed not to register Gaelic names in birth or baptismal registrations.[4]

Every Disputed Territory in the World [Interactive Map]

In 1975, Spain relinquished administrative control of Western Sahara to a joint administration by Morocco (which had formally claimed the territory since 1957) and Mauritania. A war erupted between those countries and the Sahrawi National Liberation Movement, which proclaimed the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) with a government-in-exile in Tindouf, Algeria.

Most of the world is divided neatly into distinct nations with clearly defined borders. This map is about the locations that do not fit that model, those territories that are claimed by more than one country / occupying force. The conflicts range from major wars whose impacts are felt around world (e.g. Islamic State) to minor disagreements over remote, uninhabited rocks (e.g. Rockall Island).

The list of territories and descriptive text come primarily from the CIA World Factbook, Natural Earth, and Wikipedia. The map was made using Mapbox Studio.

On Saturday, Oct. 2, the Slippery Rock softball team held its annual alumni game, bringing together current players and older generations to face off on the field.

The game brings spectators and fundraising awareness to the team, who is currently looking to raise a large sum of money. Over the years many coaches have dedicated their time to the program, but Coach Jan Kasnevich was one who stood out to her players.

In honor of her and the dedication she has for SRU softball, the players would like to raise enough funds to rename the field after her. Players from her era shared stories and talked about how playing for Kasnevich was one of the best experiences of their softball careers.

Kasnevich was a coach for 33 years, and she was arguably the best softball program statistics have ever been. There was a conversation pre-game with lots of laughs and joy reminiscing on memories over the decades between players and coaches. A Slippery Rock alumna herself, Kasnevich played, taught and coached multiple sports at The Rock over the course of her career.

However, that wasnt the only moment that had emotions running high on Saturday. 2018 alumna Emily Nagle was prepared to take her lead off at bat when coach Stacey Rice said they needed a new softball. Out from the dugout came Adam Urbania, Slippery Rock All-American baseball alumus and Nagles boyfriend.

With flowers in one hand and a softball ring holder in the other, Adam got down on one knee and asked Emily to marry him. Family, friends and teammates all cheered with excitement as Emily said yes.

Adam even arranged to have her best friend there to see it all unfold front row. Shes been over the moon excited, Urbania said. He added how she keeps saying it was the best day of her life.

The two met at The Rock through mutual friend Allie Fischer, also a member of the softball team. Urbania was a senior and Nagle a freshman, but the two connected and instantly sparked a connection. After graduation the couple did long distance with schooling before moving in together.

Both Nagle and Urbania had decorated careers at Slippery Rock, from Athlete of the Week to breaking records in school history. Slippery Rock held so much meaning to them both, which is why Adam knew it was where he wanted to propose. We were always playing right across the road from one another, it was so special, Urbania said. He added that Emily was very good at softball and he loved hearing about how she did in games.

Rice played a large part in the execution of the proposal. She coached Nagle all four years and was overwhelmed with happiness for the newly-engaged couple. Sports and softball specifically create an atmosphere much more complex than just a ball and bat. It is a family that last longer than the four years here.

Urbania and Nagles story is a testament to the fact that Slippery Rock is more than just a university in the middle of nowhere. It is a home that holds some of the best and brightest memories for all who pass through here, and if youre fortunate enough, its a place where you could even meet your soulmate.

Madison is a junior communication major with a concentration in converged journalism and a minor in sport management. She is an active member of WSRU-TV and is the sports editor of The Rocket. Upon graduation, Madison plans to work in the broadcasting industry and coach volleyball.

Pluto’s Atmosphere Is Slowly Vanishing, Scientists Discover – ScienceAlert

Posted: at 10:13 am

As a celestial body, hanging on to your atmosphere isn't always easy just ask Mars and a new study suggests that the gases surrounding Pluto are now vanishing, turning back into ice as the dwarf planet drifts further away from the Sun.

Pluto's atmosphere, already on the thin side, is made up largely of nitrogen with a few dabs of methane and carbon monoxide. As temperatures drop on the surface, it seems that this is causing nitrogen to freeze up again, causing the atmosphere to fade.

The assessment was made using what's known as occultation: using a distant star as a backlight for telescopes on Earth to take a look at what's happening on Pluto. It's a tried and tested observation technique used widely in astronomy.

Pluto and its atmosphere, observed by New Horizons. (NASA/JHU-APL/SwRI)

"Scientists have used occultations to monitor changes in Pluto's atmosphere since 1988," says planetary scientist Eliot Youngfrom the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in Texas.

"The New Horizons mission obtained an excellent density profile from its 2015 flyby, consistent with Pluto's bulk atmosphere doubling every decade, but our 2018 observations do not show that trend continuing from 2015."

Pluto's atmosphere is created from the vaporized ice on the surface, with small changes in temperature leading to significant changes in the bulk density of the atmosphere. The largest known nitrogen glacier is Sputnik Planitia, the western part of the heart-shaped Tombaugh Regio area visible on Pluto's surface.

The dwarf planet currently takes 248 Earth years to make one orbit around the Sun, at one point getting as close as 30 astronomical units (AUs) from the Sun that's 30 times the distance between Earth and the Sun.

That distance is growing though, leaving Pluto with less sunlight and lower temperatures. The boost in atmosphere density noticed in 2015 is most likely due to thermal inertia residual heat trapped in the nitrogen glaciers that has a delayed reaction to the increasing distance between Pluto and the Sun.

"An analogy to this is the way the Sun heats up sand on a beach," says SwRI planetary scientist Leslie Young. "Sunlight is most intense at high noon, but the sand then continues soaking up the heat over the course of the afternoon, so it is hottest in late afternoon."

(NASA/SwRI)

Above: Telescopes near the middle of the shadow's path observed a 'central flash' caused by Pluto's atmosphere refracting light into a region at the center of the shadow.

Pluto might not count as a planet any more still a source of some controversy amongst experts but it very much remains a planetary body of interest for astronomers. We continue to learn new information about this distant rock all the time.

In recent years, astronomers have been able to ascertain that there are snowcapped mountainson Pluto, and liquid oceans under its surface two discoveries that can tell us more about how the dwarf planet's atmosphere operates (and both coming as a result of the 2015 New Horizons flyby).

The 2018 observations benefited from a 'central flash', indicating that the telescopes used were looking straight at Pluto while atmospheric measurements were calculated, and further adding to their credibility.

"The central flash seen in 2018 was by far the strongest that anyone has ever seen in a Pluto occultation," says Young. "The central flash gives us very accurate knowledge of Pluto's shadow path on the Earth."

The findings have been shared at the American Astronomical Society Division for Planetary Sciences Annual Meeting.

Saba Qamar Is On A Roll: Music Videos, Television Projects, Web Series And Films – Galaxy Lollywood

Posted: at 10:13 am

There are certain actors whose absence from screens is profoundly missed both by their fans and the general audience. Saba Qamar is most definitely one of the artists that are at the top of the list. The Baaghi actress has been missing from screens for quite some time now.

Her last drama to be aired was the 2019 superhit Cheekh. Saba also dabbled her hands behind the camera with Qubool a music video for Bilal Saeeds song that she both starred in as well as directed. But that was in 2020. For almost the entirety of 2021, Saba has been away from the screens.

However, being absent does not mean being inactive. Saba Qamar is quite literally on a roll with a slew of projects she is working on.

Saba Qamar is ready to rock all the screens with a whopping number of 10 new projects. Galaxy Lollywood reached out to Saba Qamar to get firsthand knowledge about all of them.

She has been hinting about her upcoming projects on her Instagram via cleverly crafted posts and stories. Without divulging any concrete details, these posts made by her are enough to pique the curiosity and intrigue of the audience.

She recently posted a video of jamming on the harmonium with Asim Azhar making her fans wonder if she was going to start in Asim Azhars next music video.

Saba has officially confirmed to Galaxy Lollywood that she is a part of Asims next releases music video. And she is not starring in it alone. Saba will be paired together with Fahad Mustafa in the video.

I am working with both Fahad and Asim for this music video. Its going to be a fun song that the audience would surely enjoy, shared Saba.

Thats not all. Apart from the Asim Azhar song, Saba has two other music videos in the pipeline one of which will be for an Abrar ul Haq song.

Abrar ul Haq has given Pakistani pop music some iconic jams with unforgettable music videos and Saba Qamar promises that his next release will be in a similar vein.

This song has the signature fun Abrar ul Haq vibe to it. I am very excited about being part of it. Saba Qamar didnt reveal any more details about the song but her excitement for it only means it is going to be something worth looking forward to.

There is one more music video that she has signed up for but she could not reveal any details about it. However, she did confirm that there are a total of three music videos that her fans can positively expect her to be a part of.

On the dramas front, Saba Qamar is ready to make up for her almost two-year-long absence from the TV screens with two dramas. One of the dramas, Tumhare Husn Ke Naam, written by Umera Ahmed and starring Imran Abbas has already been shot.

Following it, Saba has signed on another Umera Ahmed script. While she did not reveal any details about it and remained hush-hush about who stars in the drama with her, Saba did share that it is a drama that will have her in a never before seen role.

Post her drama Cheekh, Saba had been busy with her films that unfortunately still remain unreleased due to the cinemas shutting down. However, with the Pakistani government announcing the re-opening of cinemas, it looks like 2022 will be the year that many of the Pakistani films will finally get to be released for the audiences viewing pleasure.

Saba Qamar has two movies all ready to be released. The Sarmad Khoosat starrer Kamli and the masala entertainer Ghabrana Mana Hai in which she stars alongside Zahid Ahmed and Syed Jibran.

With the music videos, dramas, and films all covered, whats left for Saba Qamar to shine in a web series. And well, Saba is a part of two upcoming web series to be streamed on two different platforms. There is the highly anticipated Zee5 web series Mann Jogi with Nouman Ijaz directed by Kashif Nisar and a yet-untitled Urduflix web series. While the cast of the Urduflix web series is yet to be announced, Saba Qamar has been signed on as its lead and the series is said to be a romantic comedy with a thrilling angle. To top it all off rumour has it that Saba Qamar will also be seen in an ISPR telefilm.

She has really kept herself busy with all these diverse projects she has in her kitty. The Baaghi really is ready to dominate the screens of all the sizes very soon.

Northern Illinois vs Toledo Predictions & MAC Betting Picks – Bookies.com

Posted: at 10:13 am

As far as MAC college football betting goes, west side is undoubtedly the best side.

Western Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Eastern Michigan have all looked like serious contenders in the West division. But all six teams in the East division are currently below .500 and in need of a spark entering Week 6.

This isnt all that surprising with the West having won four of the last five conference titles, and weve got a good matchup on that side this week with Northern Illinois playing at Toledo.

The Huskies picked up a big win over Eastern Michigan Saturday in their first MAC game of the year. Theyre a +12.5 underdog this week against a Rockets team that just pounded UMass, 45-7. The Minutemen may be the worst team in college football, but at least Toledo finally got its offense going after a sluggish start to the season.

The West division race is clearly the one to watch so far, and well get a clearer picture at the top when the Huskies and Rockets kick things off at noon Saturday in the Glass Bowl.

The Rockets got freshman quarterback Dequan Finn involved last week, with 102 passing yards and two total scores in the win over Massachusetts. Hes been the best playmaker so far this season and we expect to see a lot more of him against the Huskies, with starter Carter Bradley looking underwhelming again.

Its pretty amazing the Huskies beat Eastern Michigan after giving up 338 passing yards. Northern Illinois quarterback Rocky Lombardi was just 9 of 20 for 84 yards, with the Huskies getting it done on the ground. That wont happen against a better defense like Toledo, and we expect the Rockets offense to keep the momentum going.

Looking at the college football odds, were glad the line is still less than two touchdowns. Were on Toledo -12.5 at BetMGM.

Ohio finally found something that worked during its first win of the season Saturday. The Bobcats pounded the rock all afternoon behind backup quarterback Armani Rogers, rushing for a ridiculous 398 yards against Akron. Were thinking theyll stick with that approach this week.

The Bobcats are also terrible against the run, giving up 248.6 yards per game on the ground. Thats something the Chippewas will want to exploit. Were expecting a lot of ground-and-pound from both squads in a relatively ugly game.

The total opened at 55.5 on various betting apps, and its up to 56.5 at Caesars Sportsbook. Were taking the Under.

We understand why this total is so low at sportsbooks and betting sites. Neither team averages more than 19 points per game and this has snoozer written all over it. However, we do see this as an opportunity for the Falcons to have some success on that side of the ball.

Akrons defense looked awful without star middle linebacker Bubba Arslanian, who missed last weeks game due to injury. The Falcons should be able to exploit it again after Ohio ran for 398 yards last week against the Zips.

As bad as Bowling Greens offense has looked at times, Akrons defense has been worse. Over 46 points at FanDuel is the play.

Odds via DraftKings and current as of publication. Check out our DraftKings sportsbook review.

John Lydon Says Ailing Wife Will Be ‘Loved Every Step of the Way’ – Ultimate Classic Rock

Posted: October 1, 2021 at 7:49 am

John Lydon said his ailing wife of 42 years would be loved every step of the way as she continued to live with Alzheimers disease.

The Sex Pistols iconexplained that hed spent most of last year finding the right kind of carers for Nora Forster, who became his wife in 1979. Hed revealed her diagnosis in 2018.

All girls and they all love Nora and she loves them, Lydon told the Metro of the people hed hired. I found I was being selfish by being the only caregiver. I was denying her female company. Silly little things that absolutely mattered to her that I was oblivious to, like nail varnish and ladies banter and lipstick. I was being ridiculously overprotective.

The rocker reported that he'd spoken to Nora via video chat every night during hisongoing spoken-word tour in support of 2020 memoir I Could Be Wrong, I Could Be Right. Theres little acknowledgements, then the last three minutes are gone from her life completely, he said, but shell remember things from 20 or 40 years ago absolutely vividly. Its an amazing thing to watch, a human brain deteriorate and yet escalate in clarity in certain things.

Asked if he thought people might be surprised that the couple has been together for so long, Lydon responded: Well, they wouldnt expect me to be kind, considerate and caring for other human beings but youve got to look at my long and complex history. I was taking care of problem children when I was 15. That was before the Sex Pistols so I was well prepared for them.

While music has remained part of the couple's relationship, Lydon admitted that old British comedy was a stronger connection. When I was young I had meningitis and lost my memory, which is how I could connect with Noras situation, the vocalist explained. I used British comedies to get me back to being a human being and I think thats keeping Nora somewhat stable."

Unlike my memory loss, I had hopes of recovery it took four years but Im afraid my poor baby wont itll just get worse for her," the rocker continued. "But she wont go down without fighting and she wont go down without laughing. And she certainly, certainly will be loved every step of the way.

From AC/DC to ZZ Top, from 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' to 'London Calling,' they're all here.
