PokerMatch opens in-person residence in Kyiv.

The biggest poker room in Eastern EuropePokerMatchdecided to move from the online to the real world. The company announced the opening of its offline residence. Now, the PokerMatch Residence, which is located in the heart of Kyiv, is open for the fans of the most popular card game in the world.

It was 1899, or thereabout, when Ed Gardner was minding his own business (booze) in the dense forests along the Canadian border when his horse slipped into a hole.

And thats how Gardner Cave was discovered. Or so the story goes.

Gardner Cave is the centerpiece of Crawford State Park, Eastern Washingtons oldest state park.

Crawford turned 100 this year, but you probably wouldnt have known unless you happened to take a tour of the cave over the summer from Erica Thorson, the seasonal park worker who has led most of the tours of the cave since 2016.

When Thorson tells the story about Gardners fall into the cave and how he later lost the cave in a poker game, shes pretty clear that these stories arent exactly verified. In fact, theres no record that Gardner ever owned the cave.

Even if you hear it from Gardner himself, the story is much different.

I dont remember just the year that I found the cave, said Gardner in an article that appeared in The Spokesman-Review in 1922. It was about 1900. At that time I put in part of my time in Seattle or San Francisco and a part of the year in these parts, hunting and prospecting. On one of these hunting trips I found the cave. It was a cold morning and my attention was drawn by a shaft of vapor rising out of the earth.

William Crawford, former owner of the Metaline Falls Mercantile Co., was the first person to have a deed for the property, according to research from the Pend Oreille County Historical Society.

And he turned it over to the state. A 1922 article in The Spokesman-Review makes the transaction out to be much more mundane than a rowdy round of poker.

I wrote to Mr. Crawford that the Eastern Washington Historical society would undertake to have the state accept the cavesite as a state park if the local people would donate the land, said Harl Cook, who in the early 1920s promoted a concept to make the cave part of an international park at the border, He accepted for the community and paid about $600 from his own purse to acquire title for the state.

Gardner also is mentioned in a 1903 Spokesman-Review article.

A man named Ed Gardner, who works for a hydraulic company, alleges that he discovered the mouth of the cave four years ago, but thought nothing of it until an outlaw named Johnny on the Road happened to go in there, the article said.

Johnny on the Road isnt mentioned in the article again, so its unclear what made him an outlaw.

A 1919 article in the Spokane Daily Chronicle gave credit to a different pioneer for finding the cave. But the newspaper didnt seem to even know his first name.

The discoverer of the cave was a Swede by the name of Johnson, stated G.H. Moyer, formerly of Spokane and a buyer for the Crescent store, who was described in the report as the first successful explorer of the cave.

Johnson made frequent trips to the cave: in fact he spent a great deal of his time at the place. One day he came down to Ione, bought a quantity of supplies and started back to the cave, the Chronicle article said. That was the last ever seen of him. He never reappeared, no sign was ever found of him and it was believed he had been lost in the cave.

Moyer led a party to search the cave for Johnsons remains but came up empty.

Before Gardner came forward to tell his story discovering the cave. A man name Ed Gould claimed to have found the cave, according to an article in the Newport Minor on Aug. 1, 1903. But Gardner claimed that he was the one to show Gould the cave, according to a report in The Spokesman-Review later that month.

An article about the cave by Gary K. Soule notes that among graffiti that has been found over the years in the cave were illegible inscriptions with dates as far back as 1883 and 1888.

Some of the calcite cave formation in the cave were found to have candle smoked initials on them from early explorers, according to the article, which was published in 2015.

Gardner returned to the Metaline area full-time in the 1920s, according to research from the Pend Oreille County Historical Society. He was a mechanic but known mostly as a bootlegger. He died by suicide in 1937 at the age of 69. Crawford died in 1925.

The idea that Gardner discovered the cave when his horse fell into it was mentioned in a 1978 article in the Newport Miner.

When Ed Gardners horse fell through a limestone sink hole as he was riding over a quarter section of his homestead north of Metaline Falls in 1903, it shook him up a bit, the Miner reported.

And you can choose to believe it if you wish.

Tucked away in the extreme northeast corner of Washington is Crawford State Park, home of one of the longest limestone cavern formations in the state.

FARGO It's a warm calm before the storm of trucks, defoliators, carts and harvesters.

"Definitely not unprecedented that it's unseasonably warm, but you know, we're not too far back right now yet, but we're keeping our fingers crossed," said Harrison Weber, executive director of the Red River Valley Subargbeet Grower's Association.

While sugar beet harvest is usually in full swing , these fields sit empty.

The Red River Valley Sugarbeet Grower's Association said Sunday, Oct. 10, is when growers for American Crystal Sugar Company will start their engines.

Growers are looking for the beet's root temperate to be 55 degrees or less. Right now, temps are closer to 65 degrees.

"That's just too hot to store in the pile throughout the winter," Weber said. "(If) they would, the beets would actually spoil and it'd be it'd be not a good situation."

But having warm temperatures isn't necessarily a negative to growers.

"It's a double-edged sword, because we can actually put on more sugar with these nice, warm, sunny days that we're getting," Weber said. "So, we'd like to see that sugar percentage rise, and hopefully put on a little bit more tonnage as well. So, we're just playing poker with mother nature."

Farmers do need to get the crop out before the ground freezes. So, starting Sunday, thousands more trucks will be on the road.

"(We) gotta be looking out for each other, the public, as well as our truck drivers," Weber said. "We need everybody going home safe. (We) need everybody looking (two) to three times at every intersection, slowing down, given room, and we'll get through this together."

It has been reported that the breach took place on Monday but the data wasnt made public until yesterday. It was then that an anonymous user on 4chan posted a torrent with 125GB of data in it.

The leak has been labelled as part one. So, while the data was made public yesterday isnt necessarily harmful for users, there are concerns that more information could be made public soon.

Firstly, dont panic. Sensitive data like passwords and credit card information have not been leaked. So, theres no need to take yourself off of Twitch entirely for now.

Still, the data breach highlights the fact that Twitch has some very serious security issues. So, while streamers havent been the victims of any theft due to the hack, the vulnerabilities exposed by it may open them up to this in the future.

Whatever Twitch was doing for application security, they need to redouble their efforts. Twitch will need to push their application security to the next level, finding and fixing vulnerabilities before anyone else can find them Jonathan Knudsen, security strategist for Synopsys Software Integrity Group.

So, in case you havent already, be sure to change your password. Of course, this kind of information is encrypted on Twitch, but its better safe than sorry.

If you use this password for any other sites or services, change it elsewhere, as well.

You should also change your password for the email that you use to login to Twitch. The same goes for any online payment methods that are linked to your Twitch account.

Two-factor authentication is required for broadcasting on Twitch, so that extra level of security is already there. However, many users state that they feel safer using an authenticator app rather than email or SMS.

Security experts state that this kind of security breach can also lead to secondary hacking attempts. This means that people pretending to be Twitch may reach out to users, offering assistance, in an attempt to get even more information out of them.

So, make sure you scrutinize any contact that you receive from Twitch.

Kraken and Triton have joined hands to host the biggest buy-in poker tournament ever televised. The tournament, Triton Million: A Helping Hand for Charity, will gather 54 amateur and professional poker players. Held by Triton Poker, the event boasts of an entry fee of 1,050,000 pounds.

The previous competition that took place in London (2019) donated 50,000 pounds from every competitors entry fee to charity. The event amassed a whopping 2.5 million pounds and channeled them to organizations like Raising for Effective Giving, One Drop Foundation, and the Malaysian Red Crescent.

The latest development has piqued the interest of many traders, causing them to look for a Kraken review.

Sitting 10th on pokers all time money list with more than $32.6 million in career tournament earnings, Jason Koon is familiar with success. But even Koon couldnt have envisioned the Sunday he had at the 2021 World Series of Poker.

While playing $30,000 worth of tournament buy-ins, he essentially final tabled two bracelet events simultaneously, cashing for a combined $118,834, on the same day it was announced he would become an ambassador for one of the largest online poker sites in the world.

The West Virginia native barely survived day 1 of the $25,000 no-limit holdem high roller event on Saturday and came into Sundays day 2 as the second-shortest stack in the field with just nine big blinds. He was able to run up his chips and make the unofficial final table of nine. Unfortunately for Koon, he busted just shy of the official final table and took home $79,834.

Earlier in the day, Koon spent one of his breaks down to the hall in the Rio Convention Center where he was announced as the newest sponsored player for GGPoker.

Koon joins poker legend Daniel Negreanu, Fedor Holz, Bertrand Elky Grospellier, and Dan Bilzerian as representatives of the site. According to the press release surrounding the announcement, Koon will focus on strengthening the poker rooms security and game integrity efforts, as well as acting as an advocate for high roller, VIP, and high-volume players.

Right around midnight, Koon reached the unofficial nine-handed final table of the $25,000 buy-in at nearly the exact same time he final tabled the $5,300 online tournament.

About an hour later, Koon put a cap on a very successful day at the WSOP when he lost a flip with Q-J against Calvin Andersons 9-9 to finish sixth in the online event for $39,000.

This Sunday, October 3, Season XVIII of the World Poker Tour (WPT) will premiere on Bally Sports (and other regional sports networks). The broadcast slate includes a dozen episodes to air each Sunday over the next 12 Sundays. In total, the new season will be comprised of four final tables that will air through December 19.

Episodes will air at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. local time in most markets be sure to check your local listings with reruns to follow. Poker fans will see familiar faces on each episode as WPT commentators Vince Van Patten and Tony Dunst return, as does anchor Lynn Gilmartin.

Our fans have been very patient waiting for the Season XVIII episodes and we are excited for Sunday night, said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. The action from Season XVIII promises to live up to the expectations of our audience.

The first episode will be the Gardens Poker Championship final table featuring players such as Chance Kornuth, Qing Liu, and Markus Gonsalves, among others, battling for their share of a $2,467,200 prize pool. The final table will play out over three-hour-long episodes each of the next three Sundays.

That tournament originally took place in January 2020 and was scheduled to play to a winner in March of that same year. However, the global pandemic postponed play for a full year until March 2021. Spoiler: click here to learn who won that tournament.
