The Three Top Online Casino Markets in the US Projected to Generate More Than $1.5 Billion Combined in 2021 – PRNewswire

Posted: October 3, 2021 at 2:12 am

PALM BEACH, Fla., Oct. 1, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Legal online casino gambling continues to boom in the US. The three top online casino markets in the US have generated more than $1.5 billion in combined 2021 revenue through the first half of the year but 2020 was pretty good too! In 2020 both New Jersey and Pennsylvania realized an online casino revenue surge after COVID-19 considerations shuttered land-based casinos across the country in March. Retail casinos in both states resumed business at limited capacity by summertime, but that didn't slow the mobile sports betting boom in either state.December marked periods of record-high monthly online casino revenues in both states. New Jersey nearly hit the $100 million monthly revenue mark in the final month of 2020, while Pennsylvania eclipsed the $70 million threshold for the first time.West Virginia also ended the year with the best month yet in the short history of the state's mobile casino industry. With Michigan and possibly other states launching online casinos next year, 2021 projects as an even bigger year than 2020 for the US legal online casino industry. Last year saw online casino operators generate record-setting revenue numbers. Those 2020 landmarks pale in comparison, however, to the 2021 figures for operator revenue and state tax collection., according to industry insider, bonus.com. Active gaming and tech companies in the markets today include: Esports Technologies(NASDAQ: EBET), Bally'sCorporation (NYSE: BALY), Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: HOFV), Genius Sports Limited (NYSE: GENI), Rush Street Interactive, Inc. (NYSE: RSI).

Bonus.com said: "The newest state to join the legal online casino industry, Michigan, debuted online casinos in January 2021. The Great Lakes State went over the $435 million mark in annual revenue at the end of June. As of June 2021, five US states offer legal online casino gaming. New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia and Delaware stand at the forefront of the US mobile casino industry, and the success of those markets could prompt other states to launch online casinos in the future. New Jersey set a new US record for monthly iGaming revenue in July. Online casinos in the Garden State generated $118,638,577 in operator revenue for the month. Pennsylvania ($88,681,607 in July revenue) stayed right around the $88 million revenue mark for the second straight month, keeping its place as the nation's second-largest legal online casino market. After a revenue dropoff in June, Michigan's iGaming platforms rebounded to generate more than $83 million in revenue in July. Michigan's top-earning mobile casinos apps include BetMGM, FanDuel Casino and DraftKings Casino so far."

Licensed online gambling can lead to a new generation of addicts, experts claim – NL Times

Posted: at 2:12 am

Online gambling becoming legal in the Netherlands on Friday may result in a new generation of gambling addicts, addiction clinics fear. The new gambling law is too lenient, and gambling companies are therefore not sufficiently constricted, they said to newspaper AD.

The first concern is gambling advertisements. "From Friday it will become very visible that online gambling is now legal," Fred Sleutel of gambling addiction institution Hervitas said to the newspaper. "I fear that people who are just managing to keep their addiction under control, will be tempted to play. Then we as practitioners get more walk-ins, while we are already so busy because of corona."

According to Floor van Bakkum of Hellinek, there are at least 79 thousand problematic gamblers in the Netherlands. "Advertising would be necessary to point out the legal offer to people who play illegally. The reality is that we are just tapping into new groups of gamblers." She worries that gambling companies will focus on sponsoring sports clubs, which is allowed under the new law. "Many providers are going to sponsor football clubs, which attracts a large audience."

Tony van Rooij of the Trimbos Institute said that gambling companies will also sponsor sports clubs to reach the younger audience, which they cannot do with regular advertising under the new gambling law. The law states that providers are not allowed to target people under the age of 24 and can only advertise after 9:00 p.m. But that does not cover a football team wearing your logo on their jerseys during a match.

The addiction clinics think the law is not strict enough. "Although the law contains good preventive measures, the effect is often half-hearted," Sleutel said. For example, legal providers are obliged to get expert advice, but aren't obliged to adopt that advice. Van Bakkum also pointed out the mandatory warning when players exceed the maximum amount they set themselves. "Many providers send that warning by email, a pop-up message on the screen is much more effective," she said.

The Gambling Authority told AD that it welcomes the expert opinion on the gambling law and that they are drawing attention to the risks involved in online gambling. "We'll also keep our eyes open and will notify the Ministry of Justice and Security if we see that things are not right," a spokesperson said. He added that the Netherlands has one of the strictest gambling laws in Europe.

Why is the bitcoin dice game one of the most popular on online casinos? – PVP Live

Posted: at 2:12 am

Several Bitcoin casinos are all over the online gambling community, but the most peculiar is the Bitcoin dice casinos. The reason for these ranges from the concept of the Bitcoin dice game and the thrills that come with the rolling of dice. Note, however, that the Bitcoin dice games mean you play with cryptocurrency, bitcoin. So, both your stakes and potential earnings are paid in Bitcoin. Bitcoin dice games are pretty easy to play, and that also adds to why several online gamblers are always looking forward to the Bitcoin dice games. Once your wager is set, all you need do is click the roll button, and the game is on, unlike the physical casino where you get to throw the dice, which most times might have been rigged.

Several individuals still find theBTC dicegame a little complex, majorly because they have recorded more losses than wins, and its normal to think in this direction. Nonetheless, these games remain the most straightforward online casino games you can play, especially with cryptocurrencies.

Stating accurately some of the reasons behind the popularity of the Bitcoin dice game is somewhat easy. The concept of the whole game is 100% straightforward, meaning even as a newbie, you can get the hand of the game almost immediately. Here are some of the reasons why this variant is quite popular

More than other games, the Bitcoin dice game has a relatively low house edge. Know that with dice games, there are reductions in the advantages the house has over the player. Hence,BTC dicegames are one with an even playground for both the players and the platform. Because of this singular reason, several online platforms decided to make the Bitcoin dice game the top game on their online casino hence, an avenue to promote and publicize it. Every player wants to win, and the Bitcoin dice game gives you that opportunity to showcase your gambling expertise by playing on platforms with a comparatively lower house edge.

This process is automated and one of the several reasons why the online casino platform is preferred compared to the physical casino. You dont need to throw the dice or try rolling as many figures as you want. You can achieve the throw with a button.

One of the essential characteristics of gambling with cryptocurrency is anonymity. Unlike fiat gambling, where you must submit your bank details, residential address, and other personal information for verification, bitcoin dice games do not include those. In fact, since you are depositing and withdrawing crypto, all you need to do is provide your correct wallet address for deposits and withdrawal of stakes and winning, respectively. You dont need to share your biodata with your platform or any other third-party platform before you can make or withdraw payment. So its 100% secured. Your identity is protected, as some individuals do not want to be affiliated with gambling, either based on personal reasons or other cogent excuses. The fact remains if youre going to keep your identity anonymous while on online casinos, chose theBTC dicegambling platforms.

This is one of the most important reasons why the Bitcoin dice games, or why online gambling platforms, are popular than traditional gambling. With the physical gambling at the casino house, you get to maintain and observe a long queue of deposits and withdrawals. So, it mostly takes a more extended period before your transactions are processes (both deposits and withdrawals). Most players lose interest in the game they intend to play as a payment method was a significant barrier, and it was starting to affect the sales of casino houses. But for technology, we now have casino houses online where you dont have to observe long queues before making your deposits and withdrawals. These online platforms are now adopting cryptocurrencies to increase transaction speed for deposits and withdrawals to make gambling more enjoyable. Transactions related to cryptos are faster compared to traditional fiat.

Aside from bitcoin being the most popular cryptocurrency, bitcoin is such that its pretty easy to use and transfer. It is the perfect means of exchange and the main reason why it is mainly preferred on online casinos. Bitcoin, even to date, remains the widely used cryptocurrency and most feasible inasmuch as winning on online casinos is concerned. About 200+ bitcoins were won on an online casino in 2016. Playing online casinos with bitcoin could also serve as a form of investment as bitcoin price is not stable.

India’s Attitude to Online Gaming – The Citizen

Posted: September 29, 2021 at 7:39 am

The online gaming industry across India is growing at an extraordinary rate. As of 2021, the industry is valued at around $900 million. But projections estimate its value will rise to a phenomenal $112 billion by 2025. This would suggest an overhaul of existing online gaming regulations is required, especially for online gambling activities.

The increased interest in online gaming in India has been attributed to multiple factors, not least having one of the youngest populations in the world. When youth and online gaming typically marry hand in hand, its easy to see why the country is becoming a hotbed for gaming. Other reasons for the uprising in gaming are widespread internet access and around 750 million residents owning smartphones.

Online casinos in India

The online gambling industry is one piece of the online gaming pie that is becoming more popular. Accessibility is one of the reasons for this, but another is that game developers are now creating casino games that merge classic games with Indian culture. For example, a Hindi version of crowd-favourite roulette can be found at some of the best sites, and local Rummy games are being revolutionised online, making some games more appealing than ever before.

But, is online gambling even legal?

There is no straight answer to whether online gambling is legal in India, and it is somewhat of a grey area. The country is divided into 27 autonomous states, each with jurisdiction over its own online gaming laws, and therefore different rules apply across the country. Sometimes a distinction is made between games of luck and skill.

At a national level, three pieces of legislation govern online gambling despite some of them being written before online casino websites existed. They were enacted in 1867, 1955 and 2000.

The Public Gaming Act 1867 states that gambling is illegal, although the internet had not even been invented at this time. Whereas The Prize Competition Act 1955 states that competitions are unlawful when the winnings of those competitions exceed a prize pool of 1,000 Rupees each month. However, the Information Technology Act 2000 does not explicitly state that online gambling is illegal.

Online gambling regulations overhaul needed.

The current state of play regarding online gambling legislation is considered dangerous to the Indian economy. The nation clearly has a thriving market for online gambling, and local casino sites could generate large amounts of taxation for the country. By legalising online casinos, the economy would also benefit from hundreds if not thousands of new jobs and more tax for the government.

In the same breath, it will prevent Indian residents and citizens from choosing to play at illegal casino sites or underground casinos where there are more significant risks to their safety and money. Moreover, it would stop them from being lured towards legal overseas casinos, which contribute to the successes of other countries with thriving gaming industries. In a nutshell, India may be missing a trick in its own backyard.

Internet Vikings to host PlayStar Casinos operations in New Jersey – Gambling Insider – In-depth Analysis for the Gaming Industry

Posted: at 7:39 am

Internet Vikings has partnered with PlayStar Casino to support the Swedish operators big push into the US market.

The supplier will provide its hosting services to PlayStar as it embarks on its inaugural US iGaming venture, with its operations in New Jersey expected to be up and running by early 2022.

Commenting on this new partnership, Adam Noble, PlayStars Chief Business Development Officer, said: We are thrilled to enter this agreement with Internet Vikings to support our launch into New Jersey. Sportsbook and iGaming hosting is a very different landscape in the US compared to Europe and that presents a number of challenges.

This partnership allows us to get on with our core business, safe in the knowledge that our technology stack is in good hands.

Internet Vikings has a longstanding reputation in the European iGaming space, and went Stateside in July 2021 with the launch of its services in West Virginia and Colorado.

This agreement will mark the providers expansion into New Jersey, a crucial jurisdiction for any business involved in the US online gambling sector, but a difficult one to break into.

The East Coast state brought in 21.5% of the total US online sports handle out of 15 states for the first half of 2021, and it reported a dramatic increase of 29% in online gaming revenues for August when compared to the same time last year, totalling $113.2m.

We are extremely proud for two reasons. First of all, entering New Jersey is an achievement on its own. Currently, its the most sought after, yet difficult to enter, state in the US, said Peter Ekmark, Internet Vikings CEO.

Secondly, we are very excited to continue this journey alongside our clients who place their trust in us and our products to support them at such a pivotal stage of their business lifecycle, and we are not planning to stop here.

We will continue to expand and transform so that we can fulfil the needs of our clients at every step of their growth process.

Locked-down Australians have been splurging on food delivery, electronics and online gambling, according to new data – Business Insider Australia

Posted: at 7:39 am

Consumers splashed out on food delivery, electronics and gambling apps during the 2021 lockdown, but reined in spending on homewares and office equipment.

Data on Australian spending produced by consultancy Accenture and credit bureau illion, which draws on anonymised bank transaction data, reveals how the countrys second extended lockdown has built on trends that began in 2020.

It showed that home delivery, a pandemic boom sector, continued its surge in recent months. In 2020, delivery spending shot up to 132% higher than pre-pandemic levels.

In 2021 it jumped to levels 203% higher than the norm.

The data shows the significant rise in spending on consumer electronics, pets and alcohol, consistent with last years lockdowns, has been repeated this time around.

However, the soaring investment in homewares and home offices in 2020 when the majority of the countrys office employees were forced to work from home did not, with spending on furniture, office equipment and hardware in Sydney and Melbourne much lower over the past four months.

Spending on online gambling has similarly peaked in Australias two biggest cities in the most recent lockdowns, at 329% above normal levels.

That surpasses the gambling surge during last years lockdown, which hit levels 215% above the pre-pandemic norm.

Andrew Charlton, managing director at Accenture, said national data showed online gambling spending had been elevated since the 2020 lockdowns, signalling what could be a lasting shift in consumer behaviour.

It appears many people have been introduced to online gambling during lockdowns, Charlton said.

The figures also show that when lockdowns were imposed in March of 2020, spending on consumer electronics leapt to 160% above normal levels, before falling back to pre-pandemic norms earlier this year.

But over the last three months, the amount spent on electronics has again surged, up to almost 150% above usual pre-pandemic spending levels.

Similarly the amount Sydney and Mebournes locked down residents shelled out on their pets rebounded this lockdown period. Spending during this years lockdowns is currently 66% higher than pre-pandemic norms, with the data suggesting this area of expenditure saw an uptick during 2020s stay-at-home orders and have remained elevated since.

The data shows supermarket spending skyrocketed in the early weeks of last years lockdown, as panic buying sparked by uncertainty around the pandemic drove consumers to stock up. Spending in April last year was 123% above the average for that month.

This behaviour did not carry over in a meaningful way into the beginning of the second extended lockdown, with consumption in late June sitting around the average pre-pandemic levels.

Food delivery spending has been slowly rising and continued to do so in the months between the first and second periods of lockdown.

Kentucky to receive $300 Million from online gambling lawsuit – WOWK 13 News

FRANKFORT, KY (WOWK) Flutter Entertainment, the Parent company of PokerStars, has agreed to pay Kentucky $300 million to settle a lawsuit brought against the internet gambling site in 2011.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says J. Michael Brown, the Secretary of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet in 2008, brought actions on behalf of Kentucky in Franklin Circuit Court to stop the unregulated, untaxed and illegal offshore gambling operations running in Kentucky.

PokerStars collected almost $300 million in actual cash losses from thousands of Kentuckians who played on PokerStars websites from 2007 to 2011.

Under Kentucky law, the state brought an action against PokerStars seeking recovery of the nearly $300 million lost by its citizens and trebled as required by Kentucky law damages.

Last year, the Supreme Court of Kentucky affirmed that judgment, which was rendered in December 2015.

Flutter Entertainment and its subsidiary, PokerStars, are located in the Isle of Man, United Kingdom. PokerStars claimed that the English Protection of Trading Interests Act of 1980 could have prevented the commonwealth from collecting the damages upheld by the Supreme Court of Kentucky.

The $300 million settlement amount is nearly $10 million above the actual damages awarded by the courts, which was $290,230,077.94.

In April 2021, the Franklin Circuit Court ordered a bond of $100 million to be paid. The bond payment was received in May, and an additional $200 million was added to it.

Kentucky law says the proceeds from the settlement will go to the General Fund.

After 10 long years, the commonwealth has not only prevailed, but collected dollars that the General Assembly will be able to direct to critical areas, like education, health care and economic development.
