Best Nootropics 2021 (Updated) Nootropics Expert
Posted: May 18, 2021 at 4:09 am
My newsletter subscribers frequently ask me what the best nootropic is for _________. Fill in the blank with your choice for decision-making, memory, learning, anxiety, depression, energy, motivation, or
You get the idea. There are so many things that can go wrong with the human brain. And a group of neurohackers will offer a variety of opinions on the best solution for each thing.
But take a step back and you notice something. People generally sort their brain hacking goals into a few well-defined categories. Then look for the best nootropic to address each one.
Another thing we learn quickly is that there is no one-pill solution for cognitive optimization. It often takes a stack of several supplements to get to where we want to go.
And our categories and list look something like this
Processing speed, Decision-Making, Focus, Flow, & Thinking
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR), Aniracetam, Caffeine, CDP-Choline, Lions Mane Mushroom, NALT, B-Complex
Aniracetam, Bacopa Monnieri, CDP-Choline, DHA, L-Theanine, Phosphatidylserine (PS), Pine Bark Extract
Aniracetam, CDP-Choline, Bacopa Monnieri, L-Theanine, Rhodiola Rosea, Sulbutiamine, B-Complex
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR), Alpha Lipoic Acid, Caffeine, CDP-Choline, Rhodiola, CoQ10, PQQ
Brain Repair & Maintenance
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR), Aniracetam, Caffeine, CDP-Choline, DHA, Phosphatidylserine (PS), Vinpocetine, Rhodiola Rosea, Pine Bark Extract
I have a couple of new favorite nootropics this year after 14-years of trial and error. And chances are that what works for me may work well for you too. The nootropics Im talking about here are what I use every day.
Youll notice in the categories above that some nootropics work in multiple areas of cognitive enhancement. This means fewer nootropics in a well-rounded stack.
And once you dive into the neuroscience behind each nootropic, youll find synergy with how many of these ingredients work together. This may result in smaller doses of each for a bigger benefit.
Brain optimization comes with a lot of experimenting to find what works best. Trying different compounds, keeping a log of what works and how well, and a considerable investment.
Naturally, Im on the lookout for how to save money without cutting corners. So once Ive narrowed my stack choices, the search begins for quality pre-made nootropic stacks that will save me buying individual nootropics.
Fortunately, I found what is in my opinion the best pre-made nootropic stack in late 2015. Which uses most of the nootropics Id selected for my stack. All packed into 2-daily capsules in a nootropic supplement stack called Mind Lab Pro.
Ill talk more about Mind Lab Pro in a few minutes and how it ties into my brain hacking goals.
The company that makes MLP also produces a line of supplements called Performance Lab. Offering even more options for brain optimization. More on that later as well.
Before I go into detail how my stack works, here are what many of our fellow biohackers worldwide consider the best nootropics available in 2021.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine
Aniracetam
Bacopa Monnieri
B-Complex
CDP-Choline
Coconut & MCT Oil

Beginners Guide to Nootropic Stacks
How to Create the Best Nootropic Stack
Here well do a quick review on some simple steps you can follow for building a great nootropic stack.
It could be boosting learning & memory, eliminating brain fog, tackling anxiety or depression, improving focus, or increasing energy & motivation. You can use the first table in this post for ideas on how to define your goals.
But the more we learn about the nootropics that have been used for thousands of years for cognitive enhancement. The more we realize that natural compounds are often as good as or better than some modern synthetics or prescription meds.
At times youll know within an hour of taking something how well (or not) its working. Sometimes it may take days, or a couple of weeks, before you can decide if something is working as you thought it would.
Each nootropic has a u-shaped response curve. And synergy when taken with other nootropics in your stack. More is never better. And too much of one nootropic can be dangerous.
As you gain experience, youll also come to realize that some pre-made nootropic stacks simply dont make sense. Because the amount of certain key ingredients are well below therapeutic doses to provide a benefit you can feel.
How important is it to you to optimize your brain? Would you risk shortening your lifespan by a few years for optimized cognition now? While its highly unlikely, this is something only you can decide.
Understand that no one is a master of the art and science of nootropics. Dont believe anything I have to say, or what you read on other websites. Find out for yourself if something is true. And change course when you need to if you want to achieve your neurohacking goals.
Next, well take a closer look at each of the nootropics recommend above and that I use every day.

Each of the nootropics covered below links through to a complete review. When you click through to each individual nootropic supplement review youll find more detail on what it is, why we use it, how it feels, its mechanism of action in your brain, side effects, forms available or types to buy, and dosage recommendations.
Youll also notice in the table above and each nootropic listed below that many of these ingredients are conveniently encapsulated in the Mind Lab Pro formula of two capsules per day. Or in Performance Lab Mind, or Performance Lab Stim.
Each of these nootropics are generally regarded as safe and non-toxic at the recommended dose. But your mileage may vary. How you respond to each of these compounds depends on a host of variables including:
So please click through to each nootropic and read the side effects, prescription drug interactions and any other notes or warnings. But in general, these are among the safest cognitive enhancers we know of.
Read more about Nootropics Safety and Side Effects
ALCAR helps transport fatty acids into mitochondria where theyre needed for energy metabolism.[i] Fueling your cells power plants can boost physical and mental energy.
ALCAR is a necessary cofactor for acetylcholine synthesis.[ii] Which boosts memory, mental alertness, and fluid thought.
The antioxidant properties of Acetyl-L-Carnitine provide neuroprotective qualities, boosts Brain-Derived Nerve Growth Factor (BDNF) and promotes cerebral blood circulation.
Aniracetam is one of my favorite nootropics. Its well-known among experienced nootropics users for reducing anxiety, depression, fear and improving sociability.[iii] But it does so much more.
Aniracetam enhances your brains ability to repair damaged cell membranes. It desensitizes glutamate (AMPA) receptors in your brain.[iv] Which boosts neural signaling by increasing the effectiveness of glutamate. Resulting in better focus and concentration.
Aniracetam also improves memory and recall by releasing 200 300% more acetylcholine in your brain.[v] Which increases focus, and clarity of thought.
And Ive found that the combo of Aniracetam and Sulbutiamine is better than any antidepressant Ive even tried.
Bacopa Monnieri is one of the best nootropics for studying. Researchers at Banaras Hindu University in India showed Bacopa as effective for anxiety as the benzodiazepine drug lorazepam. And unlike benzodiazepines, Bacopa did not cause memory loss. In fact, it boosted cognition.[vi]
Another study conducted in Portland Oregon demonstrated that 300 mg of Bacopa Monnieri per day for 12 weeks:
Caffeine is an adenosine antagonist which helps prevent you from getting sleepy. And in turn influences acetylcholine, epinephrine (adrenaline), serotonin and boosts the use of dopamine. Providing the stimulant effect experienced when consuming caffeine.[viii]
Caffeine assists in the gene expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) which boosts neurogenesis.
And caffeine increases the density of GABA receptors, potentiates dopamine, and causes some serotonin receptors to be more responsive. Which in turn improves mood within an hour of consumption.[ix]
A valuable addition to any great nootropic stack, CDP-Choline is a multitasker which improves cognition and brain function, improves focus and motivation, and reduces fatigue.
CDP-Choline aids in the synthesis of acetylcholine, and the release of dopamine.[x] Both neurotransmitters involved in learning and memory.
CDP-Choline also helps repair brain cell membranes. The cytidine in CDP-Choline converts to uridine in your body. And works as a bridge between choline and neuron membrane synthesis. Uridine is needed to synthesize phosphatidylcholine (PC) which is needed to repair damaged neuron membranes.[xi]
Choline is so vital to cognition and nerve function that without it, we couldnt move, think, sleep or remember anything. And one the best ways to provide your brain and body with the choline it needs is supplementing with CDP-Choline.
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is an omega-3 fatty acid. DHA is crucial for the healthy structure and function of your brain. Your brain is made up of 60% fat. And much of that fat is DHA.
DHA can turn on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Improving neuroplasticity leading to better learning and memory. And DHA acts as an anti-inflammatory by reducing the enzyme COX-2.
If you suffer from chronic depression, within a few weeks of adding DHA to your nootropic stack, you should feel the depression lift. Your cognition will be better. Youll think clearer and quicker. Your memory and ability to learn will improve. And youll likely have more energy and motivation.
But it is very likely you wont think to attribute these improvements to adding DHA to your nootropic stack. Something else will get the credit.
The thing is you cannot get these benefits from fish oil or most Omega-3s on the market. Because the dosage of DHA is far too low. And purity is an issue. Best to get your DHA from the source. The same place fish and other marine life get their DHA. And thats from algae.
The latest addition to my nootropic stack, and thousands in our community, is the Performance Lab Omega-3. It provides 600 mg DHA and 300 mg EPA made fromAlgal Oil (from lifes Omega 60) in twoNutriGels vegan softgels.
Lions Mane Mushroom is an ancient Chinese remedy for improving cognitive performance, and overall health.
In our modern world, Lions Mane makes it into some of the best nootropic stacks. Why?
Because Lions Mane stimulates enzyme production that releases Nerve Growth Factor (NGF).[xii] It stimulates the repair and creation of neurons (neurogenesis). Boosting neurotransmitters and signaling that affects memory, learning, recall, and mood.
And Lions Mane helps eliminate brain fog. Restoring memory and mental alertness. And lowers anxiety and depression symptoms.[xiii]
Lions Mane is a great compliment to any nootropic stack including Aniracetam, CDP-Choline and DHA (Omega-3s) for an immediate cognitive boost.
Quercetin is flavanol from the flavonoid group of polyphenols found in many plants.
As a nootropic, Quercetin boosts mitochondrial function and decreases reactive oxygen species (ROS) production which improves learning and memory.
Quercetinhas the unique ability to increaseclaudin-4which sealsTight Junctionsand healing aleaky gutorleaky blood-brain barrier.[xiv]
Quercetinmade the Best Nootropics for 2021 list this year because it has recently been found to help reduce symptoms ofCOVID-19.
A Chinese study showed thatQuercetinbound with the spike protein in thecoronavirus, reducing its ability to infect cells.[xv]
Some of the most recent comments byQuercetinusers report a significant reduction inCOVID-19symptoms.
Those infected with the virus reported usingQuercetinwithVitamin C,Vitamin D, andzinc. Their breathing was easier, and this combo helped them recover faster. And this is beginning to bebacked by clinical studiesas well.
N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine produces the catecholamine-triad of neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine. As your dopamine levels increase, youre better able to concentrate, organize your thoughts, and stay productive.
NALT can be an effective treatment for ADHD symptoms. NALT works in synergy with stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall by boosting extracellular levels of dopamine. Helping these drugs be more effective. And mitigating side effects like crashes when the stimulant wears off.
N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine also improves memory and cognition under acute stress.[xvi] It helps improve decision-making, flow state and creativity, cognitive flexibility, and working memory.

Best Adderall Alternative – Top 3 Over The Counter Adderall Alternatives 2021 – L.A. Weekly
Posted: at 4:09 am
*Brand Partner Content*
It is estimated that 2.8% of the worlds adult population suffers from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD. Thats just the number of people who have been officially diagnosed with it, mind you.
The actual numbers might be a lot more. In all probability, if you take a self-assessed ADHD test, you might discover that even you tick most of those boxes. What is it about ADHD that makes it so prevalent?
There can be many causes for ADHD. While scientists believe that its primarily genetics, its still a very nascent field of research. There might be more causes. For instance, it was recently revealed that even consumption of alcohol during pregnancy can be a possible cause. Ditto with smoking.
Theres a more pressing concern to be addressed though. Thats the use of stimulants to treat ADHD. The first line of treatment in this case, is Adderall. If you are reading this, you already know what Adderall is and how it works. But there might be a few readers who are looking at this information as a caregiver for a close relative.
So we will touch on Adderall and why it is one of the most abused drugs in the world. Stay tuned because we are also going to share with you some of the best Adderall Alternatives that are completely natural.
We assure you that it will be worth the wait.
What is Adderall and how does it work?
Adderall is the brand name for a synthetic medication used for the treatment of ADHD. It is used as the first line of treatment for the condition. Only if Adderall does not work or causes dependency are other treatment options considered.
It belongs to a class of chemicals called Amphetamines. These chemicals are stimulants and work by stimulating the central nervous system (CNS), which alters the levels of certain chemicals in the brain.
As a result, you are able to retain focus on a single task until your CNS is stimulated. Once the effect wears off, you might find it difficult to focus on tasks anymore. Just like any other stimulant, Adderall will also increase wakefulness. If you take a dose late in the evening, you might stay awake until early morning.
Now, there are two reasons why it is prone to be abused.
What are the side effects of Adderall abuse?
What makes Adderall such a risky drug to anybody with the potential for abuse, is that the signs of abuse are so difficult to spot.
Its not like a conventional addict that shows telltale signs of addiction. Adderall addicts can display a wide range of side effects and symptoms related to them. Hyperactivity, talkativeness, excitement, extreme mood swings, depression, sudden loss of weight, sleeping for hours at obscure times.
Unless the person reveals that hes been overusing Adderall, most people would never be able to spot it. In extreme cases of abuse, people end up in the ER and the chemical even has the potential to permanently alter their brain chemistry.
If you log on to Reddit or other messaging boards, there are entire subreddits dedicated to helping Adderall addicts get out of the habit and regain their lives.
What are the best natural Adderall alternatives?
While we understand the appeal behind something like Adderall, the negatives far outweigh the benefits. Why would you want to risk with a synthetic chemical with the potential to permanently alter your brains chemistry, when there are safer, natural options?
We know that the general consensus is that Adderall cannot have natural alternatives because there are no CNS stimulants in nature. But thats where you are mistaken. Stimulating your CNS is not the only way in which you can increase your attention spans. There are other bio mechanisms too that can help reduce distractions and allow you to gain razor sharp focus.
Thats what we are going to show you today.
Without further ado, here are our top Adderall alternatives.
Mind Lab Pro first came into the limelight when we read about it in one of the biggest publications about alternative medications. Almost instantly, we thought that this is probably one of those OTC supplements that create a mild buzz in your brain and claim to be an Adderall alternative.
But we shot off a mail to the brand and we received a pamphlet with detailed information on the ingredients in it. We were pleasantly surprised to find every single known natural ingredient that has a positive effect on brain functioning.
Its like a blend of every natural herb, vitamin, and amino acid and mineral thats been proven to improve attention span, as well as brain functioning in general. To add to this, it also includes some recent discoveries that arent that well known in the industry yet.
What is Mind Lab Pro and how does it work?
Mind Lab Pro is an all-natural nootropic supplement thats sold over the counter. It is designed to help improve cognitive functioning, increase motivation, amplify your drive, boost creativity and increase retention.
In other words, it ticks all the boxes that Adderall boasts of. But theres a difference. Unlike Adderalls stimulant synthetic ingredient which is now believed to cause permanent brain damage with long term use, Mind Lab Pros ingredients are 100% safe.
In other words, even if you were to use Mind Lab Pro for say 8-10 months on the trot, you will not feel like youve lost your memory. You wont feel depressed or have extreme mood swings either.
In fact, the ingredients in Mind Lab Pro are neuroprotective. They enhance the functioning of the brain for sure by amplifying the production of neurotransmitters and increasing the speed with which these transmitters relay information. But they do not fiddle with dopamine levels. This means that you dont get addicted to it.
What are the ingredients in Mind Lab Pro?
While we are in awe of the formula in general, one of the things that we liked the most about Mind Lab Pro is that its stimulant free. You are not going to have a temporary buzz followed by a sudden crash.
Its a very stable and steady attention span that remains consistent all through the day.
The Herbs
Herbs are very underrated for their nootropic benefits, as this formula shows. Mind Lab Pro contains four herbs.
The Vitamins
No Brain supplement can ever be complete without a blend of essential vitamins and minerals. In Brain Lab Pro, you get the following.
The Most important Ingredient
Cognizin is a concentrated form of citicoline or (CDP-choline), an endogenous compound that enhances the rate at which neural membrane phospholipids are produced. It is currently being researched as an OTC supplement to support Alzheimers treatment. Cognizin has a plethora of benefits such as increasing mental energy and focus.
How is Mind Lab Pro Better than Adderall?
In case you didnt notice, heres how.
What are customers saying about Mind Lab Pro?
Mind Lab Pro has top notch customer reviews all over the internet. That includes messaging boards, which are a goldmine of real customer reviews. It is currently being recommended by some of the top reviewers in the Nootropic Industry.
There are a lot of positive reviews from stressed out adults who were finding it impossible to focus with the invasion of technology and gadgets into their lives. Also, many people who were hooked to Adderall and Ritalin are now using Mind Lab Pro. Thats enough testimony for us.
Pricing
You get a one-month supply of Mind Lab Pro at $69.00. The more you buy, bigger the discounts get. But what you need to understand is that this is not a synthetic drug that costs pennies. This is a powerful natural blend of ingredients that costs money.
Besides, the pricing is pretty much on par with most quality brain supplements.

Mind Lab Pro Final Verdict
Give this a try! Cant recommend it enough. We are sure that its going to help you improve your focus and retain attention even during the most stressful day. Most importantly, its natural and hence, will not cause any of the side effects that Adderall does.
#2 Performance Lab Nootropics Best Natural Adderall Alternative
Performance Lab Nootropics is another range of supplements that has been on our watch list for a while now. There are two reasons for this.
In addition to this, they have Omega-3s, Prebiotics, Vision supplements for Macular degeneration & MCT Oil. In this article, we will primarily be discussing Performance Lab Mind, their Nootropic supplement which is positioned in the market as a natural Adderall alternative.
What is Performance Lab Nootropics Mind?
Performance Lab Nootropics Mind is an all-natural brain health formula that improves the performance of your brain in the following aspects. It improves memory, focus, recall, ability to solve complex problems, response to stressors, reaction time, listening skills, retention and mood.
Thats an elaborate list, we know. But Performance Lab divides this into three categories of physiological functions that it is able to achieve.
What are the ingredients in Performance Lab Nootropics Mind?
Opti Nutra is probably the only brand in the world that grows its own ingredients. At first, we thought that this was a fancy way of announcing their new selected farm sourcing initiative. But thats not it.
Opti Nutra owns NutriGenesis, a cutting edge facility that grows vitamins, minerals and amino acids in a laboratory by simulating optimum conditions. The entire process is Hydroponic and involves live single-cell organisms, which produce these ingredients.
In other words, you can be rest assured that every ingredient in Mind is of top quality and produces consistent results. Thats probably the reason why Performance Lab Nootropics Mind only has four ingredients.
These four simple ingredients are all that it takes to match most of the results that you get with Adderall.
How is Performance Lab Nootropics Mind different from Adderall?
Apart from the fact that it contains zero stimulants, heres an overview of how Mind is different from Adderall, Ritalin and most other CNS stimulants for ADHD.
What are customers saying about Performance Lab Nootropics Mind?
Mind is one of the most well received Nootropic supplements not just by customers, but also by experts in the medical fraternity. There are customers who claim that Mind was recommended to them by their doctors. But we couldnt verify this information.
Theres one review that caught our attention on Reddit. Its by a war veteran who has suffered from extreme ADHD all his childhood. After getting hooked to Adderall and a plethora of other stimulants, he finally found Performance Lab Mind. Hes been able to wean off his stimulant usage by 70%. That may not seem like much, but its a huge difference. The best part is that hes not noticed any difference in his attention span while using Mind vs. Adderall.
Pricing
Performance Lab Nootropics Mind is priced at just $49 for a one-month supply. Thats incredible value. If you buy a 3-month supply, you get one-month for free at just $147.00. This is the best value pack in our opinion.
Click HERE for Performance Lab Mind Latest Discount price at Official Website
Verdict With a trusted track record and some of the best self-harvested ingredients, Mind is definitely worth considering as a natural Adderall or Ritalin alternative. The customer reviews are top notch too.
#3 Noo Cube Best Herbal Alternative to Adderall
The last Adderall alternative that wed like to recommend is Noo Cube. Noo Cube is a relatively new name to the world of Nootropic supplements. But the manufacturers, Wolfson Berg has an elite track record in Health Supplements.
Some of their bodybuilding supplements have attained legendary status in recent times. Besides, we were privy to a small unofficial test that was conducted on a bunch of overworked IT executives in Silicon Valley. These are guys who were possibly popping 8-10 Adderall pills a day. So when they were asked to switch to a natural supplement, most of them expected their performance to crash.
Instead, there was no difference in the performance for most. In some people there was a marginal dip in attentiveness. But that can also be attributed to the withdrawal symptoms rather than Noo cube being called ineffective.
So, we decided to take a closer look. After all, we want to ensure that we scrutinize every product under the microscope to weed out potential synthetic additives in them. Thankfully, Noo Cube contains nothing of that sort.
This is what we found.
What is Noo Cube and how does it work?
Noo Cube is a nootropic supplement that aims to increase the capability of the brain to process information. It was originally designed for multitaskers who juggle a million different tasks at work and at home.
But some of the ingredients are so effective at increasing recall and attention that it started to gain a lot of traction amongst the ADHD crowd on Reddit, who keep experimenting with natural alternatives to Adderall.
As expected, word got around and Noo Cube became one of the most sought after supplements for ADHD.
Noo Cube has a three-pronged effect on your brain when you take two capsules, which is the suggested dosage.
A combination of these three effects generally suffices to tackle most ADHD symptoms. Thats not all. Noo Cube also has ingredients that protect the brain against cognitive decline.
What are the ingredients in Noo Cube?
Its a no-caffeine formula, which contains a blend of 6-ingredients. Some of these, we have already covered in the previous two nootropics. A few have been discovered only recently, which makes them exciting additions to this list.
If you take a look at that closely, youll find that its a very carefully selected blend. Theres the Acetylcholine precursor. Theres Bacopa. Theres Oat Straw that boosts oxygenation. We havent seen a more, well-rounded blend of brain boosting ingredients.
Theres no wonder that Noo Cube has fast become one of the bestselling supplements in the Nootropics space.
How is Noo Cube better than Adderall?
Firstly, Adderall is nothing but a stimulant. Its effective, theres no denying it. But its a drug with a very simple working mechanism. In comparison, Noo Cube seems like a supplement with multiple benefits, each one proven by science.
Heres an overview of why it might be a much better choice than Adderall.
What are customers saying about Noo Cube?
As we mentioned, Noo Cube is quite popular in the Nootropics community. There are people from all walks of life who are now using it as an alternative to CNS stimulants.
Theres also caregivers who are using it for their loved ones who are grappling with cognitive decline. Some of the best reviews come from mentally fatigued students and media executives who find it a great, natural relaxant.
It also helps them tide through the most challenging work days without feeling burnt out at the end of it.

Joe Rogan’s Latest Workout Reveals The Secret To Staying Ripped In Your 50s – DMARGE
Posted: at 4:09 am
Getting (and staying) ripped is a bastard of a task at any age. But when you hit 50, the weights start feeling heavier, your muscles start fatiguing faster, and you start feeling like life is an uphill battle on a viciously inclined treadmill.
Thats the cynics take, anyway.
Joe Rogan is no cynic when it comes to health though. In fact, Americas most iconic podcaster is a kind of beefy Peter Pan. The man is 53 years old and counting, and has sustained (and recovered from) all sorts of injuries, including two knee reconstructions and various back issues.
And hes still going strong.
Despite his work commitments, his schedule is as full of nootropics, vitamins and workouts as Hunter S. Thompsons was of coffee and cocaine. Suffice to say: Rogan always finds time to, in his words, oil his engine. His philosophy? Unless sick or injured, there are no excuses.
He regularly takes to Instagram to promote this message. The most recent example of this is a post from 6 hours ago, in which he gives followers a glimpse at part of his kettlebell workout.
At the time of writing the post has 138,902 likes and 801 comments.
A wonderful mind-cleansing morning with the great and powerful @coachjohnwolf at @onnitgymatx! Rogan captioned the post.
Rogan has also taken to Instagram in previous weeks with posts like morning iron worship and late night mental health session with my favourite tools.
A lifelong athlete and former martial arts competitor, Rogan has built his physique over decades using a dedicated weightlifting program, primarily using kettlebells, Sports Joe reports.
A few years ago he talked about how he approaches lifting on an episode of his podcast.
I follow the Pavel Tsatsouline protocol, Rogan said. Where say if I can do 10 reps of something, I never do 10. I do five.
If Im doing something heavy. Like if Im doing 90lbs clean press squats where Im holding 90lbs over my head, I could probably do 10 of those but Ill only do four or maybe five.
I dont go to failure. I dont believe in going to failure. What I think youre best off doing is less repetitions but more often. So instead of doing one day where you blow your whole fucking system out and you do ONE MORE BRO, COME ON. ONE MORE!! And then the next day you can barely walk.
So instead of having one workout every three days where you blow your body out, have one workout every day where you dont blow your body out. And youll get stronger quicker.
Theres no reason in nature why you would go to failure. Why would you go to failure in nature? You wouldnt!
How do animals and people and farmers get strong? Farmers dont get ridiculously fucking strong from going to failure every day. They get ridiculously strong from consistently taxing their bodies, moving bales of hay and picking up heavy things.
You do that consistently and you get stronger and stronger so thats mostly what I do.
Rogans incredible lust for life is one component of staying ripped in your 50s (as well as keeping your workouts fun something which Hugh Jackman has also demonstrated in recent years).
Another is organisation. Rogan schedules his workout goals every week on a Sunday. Even if his plans change, he tries to always find a way to fit whatever challenge he has set himself for that week in, whether it be two yoga sessions and four gym sessions, or something else entirely.
If you want to stay ripped into your 50s a time where lifes demands, be that career or family, are often at their peak this can be a game-changing strategy.
Dr Tony McGirr, a medical professional from BIOV8, told DMARGE: As we hit middle age, a common complaint is, I just dont recover from training as quickly as I did in my 20s and 30s. This loss of elasticity is due to many factors associated with the aging process and can lead to chronic injuries.
It is extremely important to have a solid injury plan in place, especially if you are working out frequently.
Rogans fitness posts have also come amid some vulnerable revelations. Yesterday Rogan took to Instagram after having come straight out of the sauna, writing: Im very aware that Ive been disproportionately successful in this very strange and often confusing life. I dont take it for granted though. I dont think I totally understand whats happening sometimes, but I do care a lot, and I try my best.
These fresh-out-of-the-sauna moments make me want to put that out there. I think maybe Im inclined to believe that if I put it out there publicly like this it will make me focus even more.
Theres your Tuesday motivation, served steaming. Now drop and give us 20

Kin Euphorics Launches Lightwave, A Wind-Down Beverage To Calm The Mind – Forbes
Posted: May 11, 2021 at 11:05 pm
Kin Euphorics has launched its second canned beverage, Lightwave
Alcohol alternative brand Kin Euphorics is pushing deeper into the ready-to-drink beverage segment.
The New York-based company, launched in 2018 by entrepreneur Jennifer Batchelor and Soylent co-founder Matthew Cauble, on Thursday unveiled its second nonalcoholic RTD, called Lightwave.
The lightly carbonated beverage which features a blend of nootropics, adaptogens and other botanicals is designed to help consumers mellow the mood without alcohol at the end of a stressful day.
Available in 8 oz. cans, Lightwave contains 45 calories, and features a proprietary blend of L-theanine, L-serine, tryptophan, magnesium and reishi mushroom extract.
A four-pack retails for $27 on Kins online store.
Lightwave is Kins fourth product, and the RTD counterpart to Dream Light, a spirit-like nightcap that contains a similar blend of adaptogens and nootropics as well as melatonin.
According to Batchelor, Kin consumers loved the flavor profile and mellowing effects of Dream Light, but they wanted a more accessible product that could be enjoyed earlier in the evening.
While Lightwave and Dream Light are both formulated to help consumers wind down, Kins other products High Rhode and Spritz are designed to provide more of an uplifting experience.
Spritz is tangy and herbaceous with a spiced hibiscus, slightly sweetened with white wine grapes and touch of ginger, Batchelor said of the flavor profile. Lightwave is creamy like a birch beer kissed with lavender-vanilla, saffron, and sea salts. And they, of course, have symbiotic yet opposite effects.
Like Lightwave, Kin Spritz features L-theanine, an increasingly popular amino acid that is said to promote relaxation and improve cognitive performance. However, Spritz contains caffeine and other mood-boosting ingredients that dont always make sense for evening consumption.
Launched in mid-2019, Kins first foray into canned beverages was initially intended as a more convenient way for consumers to skip alcohol during happy hour. Batchelor has since discovered that customers are substituting Spritz for coffee and energy drinks throughout the day.
They see the functional benefit, she said. They see the calm and focused energy, and they are drinking like three or four of these as they work.
Now, Batchelor hopes her consumers which she refers to as guests will use Lightwave in a similar way.
Lightwave is a critical addition to our lineup, Batchelor explained. Its the yin to the Kin Spritz yang.
When asked what role Kin plays in helping to educate consumers about the effects of adaptogens and nootropics which are becoming more common in both beverages and everyday supplements Batchelor pointed to the companys ongoing strategy of disrupting traditional alcohol occasions.
We were the first to bring nootropics and adaptogens into one bottle designed for the bar experience, she said. By introducing nootropics into unexpected settings and occasions that dont fit with the prescriptive norms of supplements, we connect with guests emotionally to create a stronger memory and ultimately a richer experience.
According to Batchelor, Kin consumers understand which products to use when they want to uplift or downshift, even if they arent totally aware of how individual ingredients affects them.
In its quest to push these nootropics and adaptogens further into the mainstream, Kin has raised upwards of $10 million, according to Batchelor.
Its also in the process of shifting from a nearly exclusive direct-to-consumer retail strategy, to one that includes more traditional brick-and-mortar stores like Whole Foods WFM .
Were expanding our offline footprint quite a bit, she said. Were about 95% online right now, and well be closer to 70% by the end of the year.
As it broadens its reach, Kin is betting that growing consumer curiosity for adaptogens and nootropics coupled with an increasing appetite for reducing alcohol consumption will lead to greater sales.
I want people to be able to choose a euphoric for any social dynamic, any season, any time of day, or any social occasion, she said.
Batchelor added that sales more than doubled last year, and she expects the business driven in part by the companys RTDs to triple in 2021.

Best Nootropics – What Brain Supplements and Smart Drugs Really Work – L.A. Weekly
Posted: May 9, 2021 at 11:01 am
*Brand Partner Content*
Nootropics are dietary supplements that can improve mental performance, brain function and concentration. They are also known as smart drugs or brain pills.
In recent years nootropic supplements have become increasingly popular with people wanting to increase their cognitive function, memory and focus. The Bradley Cooper film Limitless, featuring the fictitious smart drug NZT-48, inspired countless people in search of a pill to improve brain function.
If you want to experience the benefits of a smart drug we have compiled a list of the best nootropic supplements for 2021.
Although nootropics are still often referred to as a smart drug, the term is not strictly accurate. Nootropic science has evolved considerably in recent years. Chemicals and other synthetic substances are no longer the only options available to people wishing to boost their cognitive functions and increase brain cells.
These days, many of the best nootropics are powered by formulations that harness the brain-boosting capabilities of natural ingredients and organic compounds. They are supplements, not medications. Anyone can enjoy their benefits and no prescription is required.
The market market for natural cognitive enhancing supplements is valued at $2.2 billion (in 2021) and by 2027 could be worth an estimated $6 billion.
Chemical-based cognitive enhancers continue to have a role to play in mental health but their use requires a doctors intervention. They are rarely the right option for healthy individuals who want to enhance their mental function or cognitive performance and trying to get hold of medications of this nature via illegal channels would not be the smart thing to do.
The name nootropic was first used in 1964 by the Romanian chemist and psychologist, Dr. Corneliu E Giurgia. Its a combination of the Greek words noos and tropein.
Noos is the Greek word for mind and tropein means to bend or turn. So nootropics are mind-bending medications or supplements. [source]
Nootropics are very popular. Lots of people use them to obtain an extra edge at work or during study. A good nootropic can sharpen the mind, improve concentration, enhance memory function, and/or provide other benefits that keep your brain in top gear.
Unfortunately, not all nootropics are as good as the manufacturers would have you believe. Unless you are unusually well informed on the subject or happen to get lucky, finding a good nootropic product can be difficult.
Nobody likes to waste money, and we dont like it when people are misled, so weve compiled a list of the four best nootropics available today.
All of our top four nootropic supplements are manufactured and distributed by reputable companies and have excellent customer feedback. They contain high-quality ingredients and none of them have a reputation for causing side effects.
Which one will be best for you? Weve provided product overviews to help you decide.

People buy nootropics for a variety of different reasons. One of the most common ones is poor memory.
Memory function can be hindered due to a number of factors including stress and anxiety, alcoholism, Vitamin B12 deficiency, and disease. Certain medications can affect your memory too.
There are steps people can take to reduce the impact of all of these factors because they are largely lifestyle-related. However, the aging process also impedes memory function. We all get older. Its a natural part of life but that doesnt mean we have to accept the cards we are dealt.
All the best nootropics provide ingredients that boost memory function. Of course, if you suspect your failing memory may be due to Alzheimers or a similar disease, you will need to seek professional advice. If you think it may be age or lifestyle-related, a good nootropic could help.
Huperzine A, Citicoline, and Bacopa Monnieri are a few examples of ingredients that can remove the fog from your brain and improve your ability to access the information stored inside.
Can natural ingredients really make such a big difference to your brain? Absolutely.
For example, Huperzine A is a species of moss. You cant get more natural than that but it can offer mind-blowing benefits to the brain.
Its an acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor. By inhibiting AChE, Huperzine A prevents acetylcholine from being broken down, helping to maintain adequate levels of circulating acetylcholine.
Acetylcholine is an important neurotransmitter. Higher levels help to sustain better memory and provide improvements in mental clarity and concentration.
The results of one study show Huperzine A improved memory and cognitive function in 58 percent of the participants. All of whom were suffering from Alzheimers disease.
Weve all had those moments where we feel distracted and unable to concentrate. Fatigue and stress can interfere with our ability to concentrate too.
Inability to concentrate can make even simple tasks unnecessarily hard. Fortunately, this is also an area where nootropics can help.
As you may be aware, caffeine is good for improving concentration. Thats why students often take caffeine tablets to help them through late-night cramming sessions.
Caffeine works by boosting the production of dopamine. Its the neurochemical thats responsible for governing mental focus and concentration.
However, caffeine is a stimulant. It can cause jitters and other side effects, so the best nootropics usually use alternative ingredients to boost dopamine instead.
Citicoline is one of several natural ingredients that have this capability. So is L-Theanine, which is famed for its ability to produce a state of alert calm.
Citicoline and L-Theanine are not the only two ingredients that can do this, the manufacturers of nootropic supplements have several others at their disposal and this is, perhaps, a good time to point out all of the best nootropic ingredients benefit your mind in multiple ways.
Nootropics can improve mental focus in several ways. Any ingredient that increases dopamine levels has value in this regard because one of its many roles is to help you tune into the task at hand and avoid unwanted distractions.
So, needless to say, as well as improving concentration, Citicoline and L-Theanine are good for boosting mental focus.

Nootropics: Types, safety, and risks of smart drugs
Posted: April 21, 2021 at 9:57 am
Nootropics, or smart drugs, are a class of substances that can boost brain performance. They are sometimes called cognition enhancers or memory enhancing substances.
Prescription nootropics are medications that have stimulant effects. They can counteract the symptoms of medical conditions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), narcolepsy, or Alzheimers disease.
Nonprescription substances that can enhance brain performance or focus such as caffeine and creatine are also considered nootropics. They do not treat diseases but may have some effects on thinking, memory, or other mental functions.
This article looks at prescription and nonprescription smart drugs, including their uses, side effects, and safety warnings.
A doctor may prescribe a nootropic to treat a medical condition. Usually, the drug is a type of stimulant, such as an amphetamine, that can help treat ADHD, narcolepsy, dementia, or a similar condition.
Prescription nootropics include:
While these can be effective in treating specific medical conditions, a person should not take them without a prescription.
Like any prescription medications, they carry risks of side effects and interactions, and a person should only take them under a doctors care.
Common side effects of prescription nootropics include:
Some evidence suggests that people who use prescription nootropics to improve brain function have a higher risk of impulsive behaviors, such as risky sexual practices.
Healthcare providers should work closely with people taking prescription nootropics to manage any side effects and monitor their condition.
The term nootropic can also refer to natural or synthetic supplements that boost mental performance. The following sections discuss nootropics that do not require a prescription.
Many people consume beverages that contain caffeine, such as coffee or tea, because of their stimulant effects. Studies suggest that caffeine is safe for most people in moderate amounts.
Having a regular cup of coffee or tea may be a good way to boost mental focus. However, extreme amounts of caffeine may not be safe.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommend that people consume no more than 400 milligrams (mg) of caffeine a day. This is the amount in 45 cups of coffee.
Caffeine pills and powders can contain extremely high amounts of the stimulant. Taking them can lead to a caffeine overdose and even death, in rare cases.
Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant may need to limit or avoid caffeine intake. Studies have found that consuming 4 or more servings of caffeine a day is linked to a higher risk of pregnancy loss.
L-theanine is an amino acid that occurs in black and green teas. People can also take l-theanine supplements.
A 2016 review reported that l-theanine may increase alpha waves in the brain. Alpha waves may contribute to a relaxed yet alert mental state.
L-theanine may work well when paired with caffeine. Some evidence suggests that this combination helps boost cognitive performance and alertness. Anyone looking to consume l-theanine in tea should keep the FDAs caffeine guidelines in mind.
There are no dosage guidelines for l-theanine, but many supplements recommend taking 100400 mg per day.
Omega-3 fatty acids are among the most well-known and well-studied mental enhancers.
These polyunsaturated fats are found in fatty fish and fish oil supplements. This type of fat is important for brain health, and a person must get it from their diet.
Omega-3s help build membranes around the bodys cells, including the neurons. These fats are important for repairing and renewing brain cells.
A 2015 review found that omega-3 fatty acids protect against brain aging. Other research has concluded that omega-3s are important for brain and nervous system function.
However, a large analysis found no benefit for cognitive function with omega3 [polyunsaturated fatty acids] supplementation among cognitively healthy older people. The authors recommend further long term studies.
A person can get omega-3 supplements in various forms, including fish oil, krill oil, and algal oil.
These supplements carry a low risk of side effects when a person takes them as directed, but they may interact with medications that affect blood clotting. Ask a doctor before taking them.
Racetams are synthetic compounds that can affect neurotransmitters in the brain. Some nootropic racetams include:
A study conducted in rats suggests that piracetam may have neuroprotective effects.
One review states that Some of the studies suggested there may be some benefit from piracetam, but, overall, the evidence is not consistent or positive enough to support its use for dementia or cognitive impairment. Confirming this will require more research.
There is no set dosage for racetams, so a person should follow instructions and consult a healthcare provider. Overall, studies have no found adverse effects of taking racetams as directed.
Ginkgo biloba is a tree native to China, Japan, and Korea. Its leaves are available as an herbal supplement.
A 2016 study found that gingko biloba is potentially beneficial for improving brain function, but confirming this will require more research.
Ginkgo biloba may help with dementia symptoms, according to one review, which reported the effects occurring in people who took more than 200 mg per day for at least 5 months.
However, the reviews authors note that more research is needed. Also, with prescription nootropics available, ginkgo biloba may not be the most safe or effective option.
Panax ginseng is a perennial shrub that grows in China and parts of Siberia. People use its roots for medicinal purposes.
People should not confuse Panax ginseng with other types of ginseng, such as Siberian or American varieties. These are different plants with different uses.
A 2018 review reports that Panax ginseng may help prevent certain brain diseases, including Alzheimers disease, Parkinsons disease, and Huntingtons disease. It also may help with brain recovery after a stroke.
Panax ginseng interacts with many medications, so consult a doctor before taking it. A typical dosage for mental function is 100600 mg once or twice a day.
Some evidence suggests that Rhodiola rosea L., also known as rhodiola or roseroot, can help with cognitive ability.
One review reported that rhodiola may have neuroprotective effects and may help treat neurodegenerative diseases.
Another review found that rhodiola helped regulate neurotransmitters in the brain, having a positive effect on mood.
Rhodiola capsules have varying strengths. Usually, a person takes a capsule once or twice daily.
Creatine is an amino acid, which is a building block of protein. This supplement is popular among athletes because it may help improve exercise performance. It may also have some effects on mental ability.
A 2018 review found that taking creatine appears to help with short term memory and reasoning. Whether it helps the brain in other ways is unclear.
The International Society of Sports Nutrition report that creatine supplementation of up to 30 grams per day is safe for healthy people to take for 5 years.
Another 2018 review notes that there has been limited research into whether this supplement is safe and effective for adolescent athletes.
