Trump begins attacking ‘super Liberal Democrat’ in crucial special election – AOL

Posted: April 17, 2017 at 1:17 pm

President Donald Trump weighed in on the Georgia 6th Congressional District special election on Monday morning, calling leading Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff a "super Liberal Democrat."

"The super Liberal Democrat in the Georgia Congressioal [sic] race tomorrow wants to protect criminals, allow illegal immigration and raise taxes!" Trump tweeted.

That message followed up a tweet from Trump on Sunday night, when he mentioned media coverage of both the Georgia election and the recent special election in Kansas' 4th Congressional District. In the Kansas contest, Republican Ron Estes beat Democrat James Thompson by 6 points last week in a district where then-Rep. Mike Pompeo now Trump's CIA director won by more than 30 points just last fall.

"The recent Kansas election (Congress) was a really big media event, until the Republicans won," Trump wrote. "Now they play the same game with Georgia-BAD!"

Of the special elections to fill seats vacated by Trump appointees, Georgia has become Democrats' best chance of swinging a seat, although it remains an uphill battle. Ossoff is competing for Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price's seat with a handful of Democrats and 11 Republicans in what's known as a "jungle" primary. All candidates run on one ballot for the election, which is set for Tuesday. If no candidate clears 50%, the top two will participate in a runoff election on June 20.

With Republicans failing to coalesce around one candidate, Ossoff is running away with the primary in polls, garnering support in the mid-40s . But when polled against just one candidate in the runoff election, a recent Emerson College poll found him trailing slightly against the four Republicans who are considered most likely to emerge from the primary as his opponent, should he not hit 50%.

In just three months, Ossoff, a 30-year-old documentary filmmaker and former congressional aide, has raised a whopping $8.3 million, vastly more than most candidates running in major statewide races. Ossoff's fundraising haul was more than any member of Congress had raised over a two-year period since 2012, other than House Speaker Paul Ryan and former House Speaker John Boehner.

Democrats haven't won this House seat which was occupied for 20 years by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich since 1976.

"You see $8.3 million, that's a significant chunk that somebody can run in their district," one GOP operative familiar with the race recently told Business Insider. "Essentially, that's what somebody usually raises for a statewide campaign, not an off-year, early special election."

The operative added that he hadn't seen anything resembling that level of fundraising in past special elections.

"It is a large amount of money from out-of-state donors who are clearly very fired up about opposing Donald Trump," he said. "That's very clear. The liberal base dislikes Donald Trump."

Like Trump, Republicans are trying to paint Ossoff as a "far left" candidate. The GOP has also claimed that Ossoff would be more loyal to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi an unpopular name in the district than to local voters.

With the huge swing in Kansas where Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas all provided assistance to Estes as a potential sign of things to come in the other special elections, there is major concern that the GOP base will be complacent after Trump's victory, not turning out in needed numbers to win the seat.

"The energy we've seen, there's been a slight downtick, which I think is natural coming off a very contentious election that we won," the operative said, adding that the GOP has to get its voters "reengaged."

Georgetown’s ‘Non-Partisan’ Lecture Fund Spends Three Times As Much On Liberal Speakers – Daily Caller

A non-partisan lecture fund at Georgetown University has given more than three times as much money to host liberal speakers as it has to their conservative counterparts.

The Georgetown Review, a student newspaper at the university, analyzed the Georgetown University Lecture Fund, a non-partisan student run organization, and found that Georgetown has paid three times as many liberals as conservatives to speak, according to Campus Reform.

The newspaper calculated the percentages based on speakers hosted during the last four years, 2013-2017.

59 percent and 12 percent of the partisan speakers hired were liberal and left-leaning, respectively, while 16 percent and 2 percent of the politically-charged lecturers were conservative or right-leaning. The Georgetown Review judged the remaining 12 percent to be political moderates. But the Lecture Fund has also hosted slightly more apolitical speakers than liberals.

Republicans fare slightly better when accounting for all election cycles from 1990 to 2016 at Georgetown. In these elections, they receive 14% of political donations, $450,220, which is still a fraction of the $2,713,683 obtained by Democrat candidates.

Liberal Michael Moore: ‘Can a simple movie … bring down a sitting president of the United States?’ – TheBlaze.com

Posted: at 1:17 pm

Left-wing filmmaker Michael Moores disdain for Republican President Donald Trump is no secret.

Moore has been on a very public warpath against Trump, commencing during the presidential campaign and continuing apace after Trumps election and inauguration.

As part of his Easter Dinner Reflections posted to Facebook Sunday, Moore lamented the state of Trumps America: Its all happening so fast the daily dismantling of sections of our government, bombing Syria, threatening war on nuclear North Korea, allowing states to defund Planned Parenthood, eliminating all programs to fight climate, and now trying to turn the Supreme Court into a right-wing junta for the next 40 years.

But it sounds like Moore is primed to take action against Trump beyond his social media protests.

I think I need to make a movie, he wrote.

Moore revealed that for the past few weeks, Ive been on fire. Not the strike-a-match-and-set-myself-on-fire kind of fire. I mean the one where your mind just explodes with ideas, with creativity, with a sort of gleeful mad energy and you just cant stop. That fire that gets lit under you when you no longer have any other choice.

More from Moore:

A crazy thought enters your mind: Can a simple movie actually bring down a sitting president of the United States? Can an urgent, funny TV series meant to reach the people who watch wrestling and the shopping channels actually move them to a better place? Can I go somewhere where I can just walk out and say whatever the eff I want and suddenly some citizens might be moved to peacefully, legally take him down and take him down NOW?

Does that mean another Fahrenheit 9/11 or Bowling for Columbine is on the horizon? Perhaps.

Moore sounds like hes ready.

Maybe Im going to go do what I do for a living and do MORE of it, he said, because I believe art and humor and all of us unleashing every ounce of creativity we have within us is whats going to stop this insanity.

Cornwall’s Liberal Democrats lead the doorstep fightback | Politics … – The Guardian

Posted: at 1:17 pm

First-time Liberal Democrat council candidate Adrian Parsons canvassing in Lewannick, Cornwall. Photograph: Jim Wileman for the Guardian

The canvassing team meets promptly in a village hall car park on the edge of Bodmin Moor. A plan of action is hatched and the activists some fresh-faced, others battle-hardened sweep through the village of Lewannick speedily and efficiently.

I didnt think Id like this bit, having to knock on peoples doors, says the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Altarnun ward, Adrian Parsons. But you meet so many people and you learn so much. Most people want to talk. And the majority seem to be positive about our messages. Im enjoying this.

Parsons, a 42-year-old dairy and sheep farmer, is one of a new generation of Lib Dem activists helping to forge what increasingly seems to be a strong revival in the partys fortunes in Cornwall. Next month, he is hoping to wrest this ward from the Tories as the Lib Dems attempt to gain a majority on Cornwall council. Ive always been Liberal Democrat, but I decided to get more involved because Id become frustrated at how things were going, at how some people are really struggling.

Thanks to its nonconformist tradition (a cottage where John Wesley used to stay lies within Altarnun), Liberalism has long been a major force in the far south-west of Britain. In recent decades, Lib Dem MPs and councillors have been returned time and again.

People who voted for Brexit are also saying theyll vote for us in May. I think just about everyone is up for grabs

But then came the crash. At the last Cornwall council elections in 2013, the Lib Dems were beaten into second place by the independents. At the general election two years later, the party was routed by the Conservatives, who won all six Cornish seats. Respected, long-serving MPs were booted out.

More misery was to follow for Europe-friendly Cornish Lib Dems when the UK voted to leave the EU. Though Cornwall has benefited from millions of pounds of European funding over the years, its people voted conclusively in favour of Brexit.

But the tide appears to be turning.

The Lib Dems have won a succession of council byelections in Cornwall and are now once again the biggest group on the council with 43 members, governing in coalition with the independents.

Lib Dem loyalists are buoyed both by the national partys resurgence and by a report in the New Statesman claiming that Lynton Crosby, who helped the Tories into government in 2015, has warned the prime minister, Theresa May, that if she called a snap general election she would lose all the Lib Dem seats her party gained in Cornwall.

The Lib Dems are fielding candidates in all 123 Cornwall seats at next months council election, 31 of them new members. People like Dulcie Tudor, a single mum and former journalist standing in Threemilestone and Gloweth in Truro, are standing for the first time.

Tudor said she decided to put herself forward because she was unimpressed by the level of debate at County Hall and felt that not all the independents were pulling their weight. She believes she can help. Tudor said local issues were what she was being asked about on the doorstep: a dispute over a play park, the infrastructure around a new sports stadium.

Lib Dem policies for Cornwall include building 1,000 council houses by 2020 (Cornwall is both a holiday hotspot and a place of social deprivation with locals pushed out by second-home owners), introducing the living wage for anyone who delivers a contract for the council and protecting adult social care.

There is no mention of the Brexit in the leaflets being handed out in Lewannick though the Lib Dems position as the pro-Europe party is playing well nationally.

I do think we are the party that gives people the chance to talk about Brexit, said Tudor. People who voted for Brexit are also saying theyll vote for us in May. In these febrile political times, it is clear that age-old allegiances are breaking down. I think just about everyone is up for grabs, Tudor said.

Experienced campaigners are on hand to guide the likes of Tudor and Parsons. The Lib Dem peer Baroness Jolly, the partys defence spokeswoman, was knocking on doors with Parsons. The Lib Dems have long been seen as an anti-establishment party, she said. That became a hard sell when the party governed in coalition with David Camerons Tories. But I think were getting that back quickly.

The door-knocking is backed by technology. The Lib Dems are using a canvassing app called MiniVAN, which was used by Barack Obama. They are also pleased with the return on the money they have invested on boosting Facebook posts. But face-to-face contact is still the Lib Dems bread and butter.

Naturally, not all voters are on board. Dave Edwards, who was walking his dog Lulu in Lewannick when he was intercepted by Parsons, said he still felt let down by former Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg over tuition fees. He lied, simple as that. I cant forgive that.

Outside the Archer Arms pub, an older woman told Parsons that she had always backed the Tories, but would think about voting Lib Dem because she was upset that improvements to the local GP surgery had not come to fruition. The Lib Dems are strong on such super-local issues.

The Tories are doing their best not to allow the Lib Dems free rein here. They claim more than 20,000 jobs have been created in Cornwall since 2010 and propose to slash the number of councillors to save money. They have also criticised the Lib Dem/independent coalition for putting Truro forward as a European Capital for Culture, despite Brexit.

They do mention the B word in their leaflets, pledging that their councillors will work with the their MPs to make Brexit a success for Cornwall.

Independent John Pollard, the current council leader, does not seem overly concerned by a Lib Dem surge. The Lib Dems are certainly working very hard. Theyre fielding 123 candidates. Theyve won most of the byelections. I think people need to look carefully at the strength of all the parties arguments, but always vote for the person who you think will represent your area best. That can be an independent. Theres always a place for independents in Cornwall.

Back in Altarnun, Dan Rogerson, who lost his North Cornwall seat to the Tories in 2015, was also banging on doors with Parsons. He is not happy that he lost his job, but he believes the losses have led to a sense of renewal.

The party finds itself with fewer policy experts, researchers and press officers, said Rogerson. It means weve had to rely more on our volunteers. Weve had to find out what our grassroots members can do, what skills they have and its been refreshing. Its like a plant that you cut back hard to make the shoots stronger.

Liberal way of thinking is lunacy – Evening Observer

Posted: at 1:17 pm

Lets continue discussing this Liberal way of thinking. I just hope that it isnt too late to bring this country back to the way this country should be. Common sense: love this country, love this way of life, defend our way of life.

Always remember what our forefathers had said when they entered this country. They said coming to this country is a privilege and not a right. Its too bad that the illegals have entered this country and refuse to obtain the privilege of being a citizen of this country.

So why do the Democrats and their supporters continue to try to protect these illegal aliens who refuse to obtain citizenship? Why doesnt the Democratic party try to assist them to obtain that citizenship, but instead protects them in sanctuary cities paid for by the United States taxpayers, who are fed up with this way of thinking?

This country is fed up with those politicians who make excuses for these illegals. Now the ultra left radical Liberals want a bridge across our borders to allow all those illegals to enter, even if their intentions are not for the betterment of this country. I hope and pray the Liberal brainless individuals are not attacked by these no good terrorists.

The ultra Liberal news media refer to President Trump as Mr. Trump, not respecting his position as our president. There as some Democrats that make remarks that President Trump cannot speak fluently like Obama. Big difference Obama did nothing but talk. President Trump in the few weeks he has been in office and even before that has done more for this country than Obama did in the last eight years. People dont want to admit that, especially the ultra Liberals.

My big question of the day is why did the Democrats in Washington allow the illegals to accept the same privileges such as welfare, drivers licenses? Who the hell is responsible for this lunacy?

God bless America and hopefully things will get better.

Liberals: Clever, But Oblivious – Canada Free Press

Liberals belong only on the stage, for the curious, not to be taken seriously. That is common sense

Among the great mysteries of the universe are questions the lucid among mankind have asked for generationssuch as:

Why are liberals so enamored with Islam and so hostile towards Christianity?Islamists, if given the opportunity, would behead every godless liberal they found.

Why do liberals want to protect violent criminals and condemned prisoners, but are willing to kill the unborn right up to the time of birth?

Why do liberals want to apply socialist/communist solutions to problems when socialism has never worked anywhere in the world at any time?

And the question of our time: Why do liberals want to admit unskilled illegal aliens, criminal or otherwise, without extreme vetting, into our country while turning away many would-be legals like scientists and engineers?

No one can deny that most true liberal believers are intelligent. But, something is missing. Liberals are intellect without discipline, without God, flashlights without batteries. As explained in Psychology Today (PT), they are intelligent people that incorrectly apply abstract logical reasoning to social and interpersonal domains.

PT further explains that the ability to think and reason evolved as a means to solve common problems such as parenting, personal relationships and social dealings, referred today as common sense. Everyone is equipped with common sense, but liberals have a tendency to over apply their analytical and logical reasoning abilities, derived from their intelligence, incorrectly.

Liberals feel in situations where they are supposed to think and think in situations where they are supposed to feel. For any given problem, the application of common sense to a liberal is just thatcommon. Many intelligent people, especially liberals, are anything but common. In many cases they refuse to apply common sense when their intellect says there is a better way.

Liberals think they are being clever, when in actuality they are being oblivious to reality. If you disagree with them, they are convinced it is because you do not understand.

Liberals always prefer absurdly complex solutions to common sense solutions, displaying their intellect, their god-like qualities, the more complex the better. So godlike, in fact, that true liberals have a terrible time believing in God, a being infinitely more intelligent than themselves, if that is possible.

Only a liberal would think that spending to prevent bankruptcy is smart. Only a liberal would think a gun free zone would prevent criminals from carrying guns. Only liberals would require safe zones to protect themselves from common sense. Only a liberal would require 20,000 pages to cover a health care law that makes almost everyone unhappy.

What is so infuriating is that the clever but oblivious have completely taken over the Democratic Party, the media and academia. It cannot be stressed strongly enough that we need to prevent liberals from entering government, education, the media and anywhere else they may affect other peoples lives. Liberals belong only on the stage, for the curious, not to be taken seriously. That is common sense.

Liberal CNN Contributor: Not Helpful That Hillary Blames Everyone But Herself For 2016 Loss – Townhall

Posted: at 5:59 pm

Hillary Clinton stopped by the hyper left Women In The World Summit last week, where she discussed with The New York Times Nicholas Kristof, among other things, the reasons for her upset 2016loss to President Donald J. Trump. Clinton placed the blame on Wikileaks, FBI Director James Comey, misogyny, and Russia. Notice anythinginteresting, like Hillary Clinton not taking responsibility for losing? Liberal CNN contributor Kirsten Powers mentioned this with CNNs Jake Taper yesterday, noting that this aversion to take responsibility (since you were the candidate) isnt helpful.

Powers said that people were attacking her on social media, questioning why she hates Clinton. She was adamant that she doesnt hate the former first lady, but that serving up red meat to progressive audiences while avoiding what you as the candidate could have done better isnt the best way to move on from this stinging defeat. We know that fake newsdidnt play a pivotal role in the 2016 election. Russia didnt tamper with voting totals. FBI Director Comey wanted towrite an op-ed about Russian interference in the summer of last year, but was stopped by the Obama White House. And 52 percent of white women voted for Trump, showing that the womens vote, much to the Lefts dismay, doesnt march to the beat of liberal ideology or gender. Its quite independent.

CNNs Tapper also added that Comey didnt tell Clinton to call tens of millions of Americans deplorable, like she did when referring to Trump voters, and that Russia didnt tell her campaignto not visitWisconsin.

Clinton and her followers seem to think that she was flawless, which occurs when your base only lives in cities with liberal media as news and progressives as neighbors. The truth of the matter is she sucked. The fact is thatallegations of possibly mishandling classified information on an email server that wasnt secure, or authorized by the State Department, might be a big deal to voters. Its also the issue that sunk her on character issues. No one liked or trusted Clinton. She had no economic message. She thought the Obama coalition would align with her, despite them rejecting her overwhelminglyduring the primaries. There were a lot of reasons why Clinton lost the 2016 election and some of them were her fault. We'll probably have to wait untilrapture when she finally admits this.
