LAS VEGAS (KTNV) Four people have left Las Vegas at least $1 million richer over the past week.

The jackpots were all hit at different casinos and three of the four came from slot machines, starting Friday afternoon with a big win at Treasure Island Las Vegas.

Two days later, a woman from southern California hit jackpot on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine at Circa, according to owner Derek Stevens. That jackpot amounted to $1,075,234.28. Stevens shared a video on Twitter of himself posing with the winner, Nikki, in front of the lucky machine.

Another lucky gambler got rich quick when he hit a $1,393,273 Face-Up Pai Gow Mega Progressive Jackpot at Harrah's Las Vegas on Sunday, Caesars Entertainment announced. Quoclong Pham, from Washington, is a professional player who was in town on business, Caesars said.

The winning streak continued on Tuesday with a woman from Hawaii who said she was in town for the Las Vegas Raiders-Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday. Seven minutes into playing on a Wheel of Fortune Double Diamond slot machine at Main Street hotel-casino, she hit the jackpot and won $1,025,602. Her wager? Two dollars, according to Boyd Gaming.

Craft beers abound at The Linq Promenade in Las Vegas – Lasvegasmagazine

Posted: at 5:39 pm

Most know The Linq Promenade leads to the High Roller observation wheel, but what is often missed are a bevy of beer options, many spotlighting Las Vegas local breweries, making the Promenade one-stop shopping for homegrown suds from 11 of Vegas breweries.

Its best to fortify your stomach first, and what goes better with beer than pizza? Flour & Barley, an ideal name for a restaurant specializing in pizza and beer, serves 14 unique brick-oven pizzas along with 40 beers, including locals like CraftHaus Belgard Coffee Stout, Lovelady 9th Island Pineapple Sour and FB Cerveza, a Mexican-style lager made by Tenaya Creek. People see almost 50 beers and can be overwhelmed, so we educate them, ask what kind of beer they like and suggest craft beers to fit their taste, said bartender/manager Keith Ebling.

Virgils Real Barbecues cuisine pairs well with its 35 beers, including locals such as 7Five Dawn Breaker Lager, Able Baker Calutron Girl Mango Hefeweizen and Big Dogs Dirty Dog IPA.

The aptly named ameriCAN features 75 U.S. beers. A patriotic theme is prevalent, with several U.S. flags (one made out of license plates). There are a dozen Vegas brews, including Astronomy Golden Ale and Bad Beat Bluffing Isnt Weise. Bar manager Robert Wilk said, Local beer is always a go-to; I tell customers, Youre in Vegas, try something new.

The award for the largest selection goes to Yard House; its 180-tap selection qualifies as the largest on the Strip. Ask for the local beer menu, which lists 20 from eight breweries, including Banger Morning Joe Coffee Kolsch, Hop Nuts Golden Knight Strong Ale and HUDL Super Mini Pale Lager. Good luck making a choice!

This roundup of beer venues within the Linq Promenade is by no means comprehensive. If you have time, theres also OSheas Irish pub with 50 beers and the Scottish-themed Tilted Kilt with 45 taps.

Bryce Hamilton thriving as UNLV’s go-to-guy – Las Vegas Sun

Posted: at 5:39 pm

Steve Marcus

UNLV guard Bryce Hamilton moves past Gardner-Webb guard Jordan Sears during the Rebels season opener at the Thomas & Mack Center Wednesday, Nov. 10,2021.

By Mike Grimala (contact)

Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 | 2 a.m.

If UNLV finds itself in a tight game with No. 4 Michigan on Friday (9:30 p.m., ESPN2)say, a one-possession game with five minutes remaininga lot of things will have gone right for the scarlet and gray over the first 35 minutes to get them there.

As for the final five minutes? Bryce Hamilton has that covered.

UNLV has opened the season 3-0 by winning three close games, and Hamilton has carried the load down the stretch in each of them. Working with an internal timer, the senior wing has upped his production and efficiency while seemingly lowering his heart rate in the final five minutes of back-and-forth contests.

Hamilton is averaging a career-high 17.9 points per game, and almost half his buckets have come in winning time.

In the season opener, Hamilton hit 4-of-5 shots and scored 11 of UNLVs final 13 points in a victory over Gardner-Webb.

Three days later against Cal, Hamilton made 2-of-5 to notch four of UNLVs final six points.

On Monday, the lefty canned 4-of-7 field goals in the last five minutes, scoring eight of the teams final 12 points to hold off North Dakota State.

All three games were within a single possession. All three times the coaching staff put the ball in Hamiltons hands. All three times, he came through.

According to UNLV coach Kevin Kruger, this team was built with the mindset to get the ball to Bryce and let him take over with the game on the line.

Bryce just has the ability to get his own shot, more so than most guys in the country, head coach Kevin Kruger said. He can take and make tough shots.

Thats why Hamilton is here in the first place. After averaging 17.9 points per game last year and watching his coach leave the program (the second head coach of Hamiltons college career), the Pasadena native entered his name in the NBA Draft. He went through the pre-draft process but left open the door to return for one more collegiate seasonif it made sense.

Kruger made it make sense. After being named head coach, he maintained an offseason dialogue with Hamilton that included a game plan for his senior campaign. Kruger was clear in his vision: Hamilton was going to be the unquestioned No. 1 option on offense. Plays were going to run through him and he was going to be counted on to produce every night.

Kruger reiterated that blueprint after the Gardner-Webb game, leaving no doubt as to whose number he is going to call in crunch time this season.

Were going to go through Bryce, Kruger said. We talked as a staff about what we wanted to run and we came to the conclusion were going to go through him. Night in and night out were going to put a lot of the offensive responsibility on his shoulders.

And when a game is on the line and the clock is ticking down, Hamilton is going to be The Man.

Hamilton liked what he heard from Kruger and felt he could thrive in such a pressure-packed role.

He told me what my role is going to be when I decided to come back here, Hamilton said, and I accepted it.

His teammates have also accepted it.

Its not always easy to defer, especially when the spotlight is brightest, but the scarlet and gray seem to understand this is Hamiltons time and that in tight games they are going to succeed or fail based on Hamiltons ability to close it out.

In other words, everyone knows their roles.

Junior wing Donovan Williams, a transfer from Texas, said Hamilton is one of the five best scorers with whom he has played.

Being with him in the games, you feel that level of confidence, Williams said. When coach says were going to run this ball screen with Bryce and Royce [Hamm] because we like that mismatch, you feel confident because you know whoever they put on Bryce coming off the ball screen, theyre at a disadvantage.

Playing alongside Bryce, he continued, it makes our jobs a lot easier.

Hamilton isnt satisfied with his early-season success; he knows he is shooting just 28.2% from the field in the first 35 minutes of games (compared to 58.8% in the final five minutes), and he is efforting to increase his early-game efficiency.

But he is relishing his role as the ultimate go-to guy, knowing his coaches and teammates have the utmost faith in him to deliver.

It feels good, Hamilton said. It definitely helps with my confidence. To be able to have my coaches and my teammates trust, it feels good. Im thankful to be in that situation.

Raiders mailbag: Fans want to know whats wrong with the team – Las Vegas Review-Journal

Posted: at 5:39 pm

The Raiders are on a two-game losing streak, and it has stripped them of first place in the AFC West and prospective a playoffs spot.

Their fans are growing anxious as they await the next turn. Will the Raiders get back on track, or will they fall into the same frustrating habit that cost them potential playoff berths in 2019 and 2020?

Here is a sampling of what arrived in this weeks mailbag:

John Richardson (@JohnIsaac55): The Raiders are stuck in this 7-8, 8-8 purgatory. Is it time to tank, the rest of this year and next, and then come back with a new roster, quarterback and coach?

Vincent Bonsignore: The short answer is absolutely not.

With eight games remaining, the Raiders are a half-game out of first place in their division and tied for the last wild card spot. They have a real chance to finally turn the corner.

Will that happen? No one can predict the future. But to presume they are going to win just two or three more games the rest of the way, and approach the back half of the season by tanking with an eye toward a rebuild, represents a defeatist attitude that would mar the franchise.

The Raiders emphasis has to be on maximizing the next eight weeks. Where that ends up taking them is anyones guess. But whereever they arrive will dictate what they do next.

justwinwendy (@justwinwendy88): Looking for a couple 20-plus passes to DeSean Jackson in Sundays game. Nobody mentioned the fact that he caught the perfect pass from Derek Carr before he fumbled. Do you think he will get more targets this week?

VB: It would be a shock if he wasnt more involved in the game plan. The focus is on how the play against the Chiefs finished, but the Raiders were excited about the quick connection Carr and Jackson made and what it will mean over these next eight games as they try to build more chemistry.

Lightning McQueen (@TMCsean14): Do you think the Raiders bounce back and make the playoffs?

VB: When the Raiders play clean, efficient football they have shown they can compete with anyone in the NFL. The only question remaining is, can they play at that level enough over the second half of the season to win the necessary amount of games to punch their postseason ticket?

No one has that answer. But well find out soon.

1LAkid (@LeeMart20484224): Why cant the Raiders run the ball?

VB: Not trying to be simplistic, but its been a combination of an offensive line that simply hasnt played up to expectations and as Sundays loss to the Chiefs showed the penalties that reduce the number of plays.

Also, falling behind on the scoreboard lessens the chance to run the ball. When teams play from behind, the run game becomes secondary.

ENorx (@ENorx14): Have away opposing teams fans taken over every game at Allegiant like the Chiefs did? I was there, and it wasnt a product of the score. They were louder from the opening kickoff. Seems like a Chargers-esque situation with no home-field advantage for the Raiders?

VB: Going to agree to disagree on whos fans were the loudest to start the game. The sense is it was Raiders fans who were the loudest.

That said, when the Raiders dont play well it gives their fans much less to cheer about. And when the opposing team takes control of the scoreboard, it empowers their fans to be more vocal.

Las Vegas is the curiosity piece on the NFL schedule and being a vacation city, the opposing fans always will be a factor at Allegiant Stadium.

Bobby D! (@Hushtonebob): If you can fix one section of the team right now, what would it be?

VB: The offensive line. Looking ahead, though, more linebackers that can defend the pass.
