Blake Shelton fans currently get their weekly dose of the country music star on Monday and Tuesday nights thanks to The Voice. But now theyll also have the opportunity to see him in Vegas like never before.

On November 11, the 45-year-old "Happy Anywhere" singer dropped the incredible news that he and Ryman Hospitality Properties are opening up a bar-restaurant-music venue called Ole Red in Las Vegas. For those that dont know, Ole Red is an entertainment venue brand inspired by the boss man himself: Blake Shelton. The Vegas location will be at the intersection of the Las Vegas Strip and Flamingo Road across from the Bellagio fountains and is set to open its doors in 2023. The new space will be the latest addition to his growing list of Ole Red venues, which are currently located in Oklahoma, Tennessee and Florida.

"LAS VEGAS!!!! Were bringing the damn party to yall! The newest edition to the @olered fam coming in 2023!!!" Blake wrote alongside an Instagram picture announcing the big news.

Meanwhile, Colin Reed, the chairman and CEO of Ryman Hospitality Properties, said: "This will be a wonderful place for us to rotate the young artists that we are building relationships with. And hopefully Blake [when you do a] residency at Caesars Palace you can then come and play [here] as well.

Now that The Voice is down to one season per year, Blake might finally have the time to pursue his dream of a Vegas residency. But does this mean that Blake will walk away from the NBC competition show for good? So far, he hasn't announced any definitive plans to exit The Voice, though he did tell Today show's Hoda Kotb in March that he might be ready to take a step back out of the spotlight in the near future.

After a shift to Nashville for two years due to COVID-19 issues, the Academy of Country Music Awards are heading back to their longtime home of Las Vegas in 2022. But there are some big changes happening.

Marking the 57th annual ACM Awards ceremony, the show will be held at the citys gleaming new Allegiant Stadium on Monday, March 7, 2022. And for the first time, it will not be available on broadcast television.

Announcing the date and location, organizers confirmed last week that the next ACM Awards will be the first major awards show in history to air exclusively as a live stream. It will be carried by Amazons Prime Video in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K., as one of the country genres biggest nights adjusts to a new playing field.

We are thrilled to return to Las Vegas to celebrate country musics Party of the Year in this incredible brand-new stadium and on the Prime Video streaming service for the first time ever, said Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music. Both the 2020 and 2021 ACM Awards were held in Nashville, with Keith Urban hosting in 2020 and the show occupying stages at the Ryman Auditorium, Grand Ole Opryhouse and Bluebird Cafe in September. That followed a postponement from its traditional date in April, and saw Thomas Rhett and Carrie Underwood crowned as the first ever co-Entertainers of the Year. The 2021 event followed just a few months later with Urban and Mickey Guyton co-hosting, naming Luke Bryan the years ETOY.

This years changes come as the industry opens up and regular travel for its stars resumes, and now makes room for a ton of fans to return to the celebration. The newly opened Allegiant Stadium is home to the NFLs Las Vegas Raiders, and has a game-day capacity of 65,000.

Meanwhile, the West-Coast based Academy of Country Music announced their big nights move to live streaming in August, after CBS opted to drop the show in favor of the CMT Music Awards when CMTs parent company, Viacom, merged with CBS. It had been on CBS from 1998 through 2021, and thats also why the ACM Awards are happening about a month earlier than usual.

LAS VEGAS (AP) The Las Vegas Raiders have not put it together where it matters most since their bye week.

The Raiders lost their third straight game, 32-13 to the Cincinnati Bengals, falling to 5-5 and further out of position in the AFC West behind the first-place Kansas City Chiefs.

Part of the reason for the Raiders' skid: their failures on third down and in the red zone.

The Raiders rank 24th in the league in third-down conversion rate (42 of 118, 35.5%). They came into the game ranked 26th in red-zone success, scoring 18 TDs in 34 trips inside the 20-yard line, and were 1 for 3 against the Bengals.

Dating to last Sunday night's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas had 14 straight unsuccessful third-down attempts. The first conversion against Cincinnati didn't come until late in the fourth quarter when Derek Carr found Hunter Renfrow for 17 yards.

Two plays later, Carr was strip-sacked by Trey Hendrickson.

Were out of sync, Carr said. Were not doing good enough on third down, were not doing good enough in the red zone. Its my fault.

The signs were evident from the Raiders first offensive possession. Las Vegas took over at the Cincinnati 9-yard line after Yannick Ngakoues strip-sack of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

The Raiders ran the ball once, Carr passed twice, and they netted 1 yard, settling for a field goal.

We gotta stop the bleeding whenever something like that happens as a defense, Bengals defensive back Eli Apple said. So we just came together and we locked in, thats all.

Since their 33-22 home victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7, the Raiders have been outscored 96-43. Las Vegas averaged 25.7 points through the first seven games of the season. An offense that was averaging 393 yards per game over those first seven games has been held to less than 300 each of the past two weeks while scoring a combined 27 points.

Off-the-field problems have likely contributed to those struggles. Coach Jon Gruden was forced to resign after the revelation of his past emails that included racist, homophobic and misogynistic language. And the team cut talented young receiver Henry Ruggs III after he crashed his car into another vehicle, killing a woman and her dog; police say Ruggs was drunk at the time, and he faces decades in prison.

Though he didn't make excuses, Carr hasn't been the same recently. Hes thrown four interceptions since the bye week after throwing five in the Raiders' first seven games. Two plays after the Bengals took 6:39 off the clock with a touchdown, Apple intercepted Carr for his fifth pick in four games.

Carr finished 19 of 27 for 215 yards but didnt get his wide receivers involved. Tight end Darren Waller had seven receptions and 116 yards on eight targets, but the Raiders receivers went a span of 41:25 between receptions.

They gave us some pressure a little bit and we ended up playing the checkdown game to some degree, Raiders interim coach Rich Bisaccia said. We got some third-and-manageables and we werent able to capitalize offensively.

The Raiders will not have much time to figure out what's plaguing their offense as they prepare for a Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

The men in our room, the way we work, the way we go after things, it shouldnt always end like this crap, Carr said. We have another one in a few days against a really good football team. If we dont want to stand up here and have to do this again, we better get it right.

The holiday attraction can be enjoyed starting at sundown on Nov. 24 through Jan. 1.

Returning for the first time since 2019 is a nine-minute holiday laser light show.

Rock Rink

The Rock Rink at Downtown Summerlin, located at Sahara Avenue east of the 215 Beltway, has returned for the holidays.

Downtown Summerlin kicked off the holiday season Friday with the arrival of Santa Claus and the opening of the skating rink Rock Rink. Skate rentals are $16. Hours vary, and appointments are required. Check summerlin.com for details.

This is Christmas show

Backed by a live all-star band, This is Christmas will bring audiences on a magical journey through the holiday season featuring timeless Christmas favorites.

The show, held in The Palazzo Theatre, will feature a cast of 10 performers from television and Broadway including American Idols Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young.

Tickets are available for the 7 p.m. show: Nov. 26-28; Dec. 2-5; Dec. 9-12; Dec. 16-19; and Dec. 22-25. In addition, a 3 p.m. matinee performance is available on Dec. 19, 25 and 26.

Green Valley Ranch rings in the season with its festive holiday-themed outdoor pop-up lounge, Winter at The Terrace. OpeningNov. 19 through February, the resorts patio, located in The Backyard, will transform into a winter wonderland.

The 21+ holiday experience will have merry music and photo opportunities,with cozy igloos, fire pits, twinkling lights, snowflakes and more.

Live music on Fridays and Saturdays will set the tone for the festive pop-up.

Winter at The Terrace will be open Sunday through Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 3 p.m. to midnight.

The Golden Knights bench seemed to clear as soon as the horn sounded, and their sticks lifted as high as the celebratory smoke shooting out of the fog machine.

Vegas players appeared to be extra proud of themselves after a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena, and they had every reason to be. The victory marked the Golden Knights fifth in six games to conclude a homestand tied for the longest of the season where its just been one thing after another in terms of challenges, in coach Pete DeBoers words.

5-1 on a homestand when youre full-roster, fully healthy is a great run, he said. Considering the adversity we had thrown at usthis groups resiliency Ive talked about it before never wavered.

The Golden Knights arrived home almost exactly two weeks ago following a 5-2 loss at Detroit just hoping to stay afloat with a patchwork roster. They now leave again for a Monday night game in St. Louis sailing high despite having suffered even more personnel setbacks.

But its given them more confidence in different players as the success has required contributions from those typically not relied on as heavily.

Two of Saturdays three scores came from players who got in the column for the first time this season. Keegan Kolesar broke a Golden Knights cold spell for the opening 27 minutes to get the team on the board, and Mattias Janmark put in the game-winner.

The goal in between came from Reilly Smith, who moved into second on the team with seven goals via a shorthanded breakaway early in the third period.

Super resilient effort in the last few games, Smith said. It felt like every game there was something else happening, a little more adversity. For guys to be able to contribute, its the world for us because were just kind of treading water, waiting for guys to come back and if were able to pick up wins and try to create a lot of momentum and movement in the standings, its huge for us.

They have been able to do that considering Vegas now sits in a playoff spot at 11-7-0 after the successful homestand. That may not sound like much for a team considered a Stanley Cup favorite coming into the season, but they were far out of the postseason picture after a 1-4 start and even at 6-6 following the aforementioned Detroit loss.

The victory over the Blue Jackets was in many ways a microcosm of their season started slow, picked it up in the middle before playing their best right before skating off the ice. Vegas gave up two first-period goals, including one by Gustav Nyquist in the opening minute, and it looked like the long homecoming would end with a whimper.

It seems to be where we like to start a lot of our games, goalie Laurent Brossoit said. It puts a fire under us, and we get better as the game goes on, which is a good sign. I think weve got a very mature group, and when we get down, we dont pout. We still stick to the game plan and the process and always have a chance to win.

Brossoit made his second appearance of the homestand, and ultimately improved to 3-1 when hes starting in relief of linchpin Robin Lehner, whos arguably been the Golden Knights best player. Brossoit missed a deflection on the first goal but he was left out to dry on the second.

Alexandre Texier beat Mark Stone, the team captain adjusting to only his second game back since injury, down the ice after a faceoff for a breakaway, shorthanded goal. DeBoer said the Golden Knights were also distracted in the first period from yet another hurdle.

Center Brett Howden had a false positive COVID-19 test and wasnt cleared to play until the last minute after having not even taken the ice for pregame warmups.

Its a testament to our character, especially with how many injuries we have, injuries to core guys and a couple COVID guys go down, Brossoit said of the win. It just shows that our young guys are stepping up.

Vegas had its sixth player of the season make his NHL debut on Saturday in 22-year-old former seventh-round pick Ben Jones. He didnt register a point but his counterpart from the Golden Knights' 2017 draft who debuted earlier this season, Jake Leschyshyn, got the second assist of his career on Kolesars goal.

Help is on the way but players like Leschyshyn are making sure injured stars like Max Pacioretty and Shea Theodore, both of whom skated in practice Saturday, wont need to rush back and feel pressure in a dire situation. Five wins in six games has put the Golden Knights in a better position than theyve been in all season.

Were finding ways to win games, DeBoer said. I dont know if were hitting a stride. I cant wait until were healthy and we can put a full lineup of guys that we have and then well see. Its going to be on those guys coming in to jump in and continue on with the foundation were playing with right now.

Among our favorite things to do at Get Outdoors Nevada is bringing outdoor education and access to meaningful outdoor experiences to youths in Nevada. We are particularly proud of our Native Habitat Program, where we restore urban wildlife habitats at schools and other community locations. These livable spaces support local and migratory wildlife including threatened or endangered species, like the desert tortoise and the monarch butterfly.

Through the Native Habitat Program, students have the opportunity to create protective corridors for wildlife traveling to larger habitats like a national wildlife refuge, or urban habitats like our neighborhood parks and backyards. Since breaking ground in 2018, the program has created 695,725 square feet of habitat pockets at eight sites throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

This program engages students in learning about the importance of cultivating native plants for wildlife, while also providing hands-on experience in the rehabilitation of an area from start to finish, all at no cost to the school and students involved. However, the process of bringing this program to Clark County schools has not been easy.

With almost one quarter of school grounds managed by the Bureau of Land Management, creating something as simple as a pollinator garden at a school can be a complicated order, often taking months to become a reality. In fact, since the inception of the program, we have started and subsequently abandoned a number of proposed projects due to insurmountable administrative hurdles.

The Southern Nevada Economic Development and Conservation Act introduced by Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., and Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev., offers a solution to these obstacles by transferring school sites managed by the Bureau of Land Management to local jurisdictions.

This change will be a win-win for all involved. The Bureau of Land Management will no longer be tasked with reviewing plans for projects like school gardens. School improvements will be more efficient and effective. And ultimately, our kids will benefit because it will be easier to bring enriching, hands-on experiences like the Native Habitat Program to students in Southern Nevada.

Sometimes its hard to see how a certain piece of legislation will affect our day-to-day lives. By eliminating administrative barriers, this bill will help create more native habitats in our community. These restored areas will enhance the quality of life for wildlife and people alike. We are grateful for the opportunity this legislation provides and we look forward to expanding the Native Habitat Program to more schools and students in Clark County.

Local control of school land is a win for everyone - Las Vegas Sun

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti Two of 17 members of a missionary group who were kidnapped more than a month ago have been freed in Haiti and are safe, in good spirits and being cared for, their Ohio-based church organization announced Sunday.

Christian Aid Ministries issued a statement saying it could not give the names of those released, why they were freed or other information.

While we rejoice at this release, our hearts are with the 15 people who are still being held," the group said.

The spokesman for Haiti's National Police, Gary Desrosiers, confirmed to The Associated Press that two hostages were released on Sunday.

The missionaries were kidnapped by the 400 Mawozo gang on Oct. 16. There are five children in the group of 16 U.S. citizens and one Canadian, including an 8-month-old. Their Haitian driver also was abducted, according to a local human rights organization.

The leader of the 400 Mawozo gang has threatened to kill the hostages unless his demands are met. Authorities have said the gang was demanding $1 million per person, although it wasnt immediately clear that included the children in the group.

The release comes as Haiti struggles with a spike in gang-related violence and kidnappings, with the U.S. government recently urging U.S. citizens to leave Haiti amid deepening insecurity and a severe lack of fuel blamed on gangs blocking gas distribution terminals. On Friday, Canada announced it was pulling all but essential personnel from its embassy.

The fuel shortage has forced hospitals to turn away patients and paralyzed public transportation, with some schools closing and businesses shortening their work hours.

Haiti also is trying to recover from the July 7 assassination of President Jovenel Moise and a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck in mid-August, killing more than 2,200 people and destroying tens of thousands of homes.
