Looking for advice on masculinity? Try St. Joseph rather than Jordan Peterson – National Catholic Reporter

Jordan Peterson, right, and conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk speak with attendees at the 2018 Young Women's Leadership Summit hosted by Turning Point USA at the Hyatt Regency DFW Hotel in Dallas. Peterson's videos appear on Kirk's media site DailyWire+. (Wikimedia Commons/Gage Skidmore/CC BY-SA 2.0)

In June, psychologist Jordan Peterson signed on with the Daily Wire, a self-proclaimed "right-of-center" multimedia site, for which he has already recorded a plethora of video content. One of his most watched DailyWire+ videos thus far is "Message to the Christian Churches." The video was prompted by his growing Christian fanbase, as well as by his own spiritual quest.

A few years ago, a family friend in his late 20s explained why he didn't want to go to Mass with his family on Easter morning. "The priests make the Bible sound so boring," he said. "I cant help but fall asleep during their homilies. I'd go to church if they played clips of Jordan Peterson talking about the Bible instead of having the priest give homilies. At least Peterson makes the Bible relevant."

Peterson's psychological analyses of the Jungian archetypes found in the Bible largely ignore the text's metaphysical and ethical truths. And yet his appeal to young men was part of the reason then Los Angeles Auxiliary Bishop Robert Barron pointed to him as an example of how to engage the "nones" (religiously unaffiliated youth) to the U.S. bishops' Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis in June 2019. Soon after, Barron appeared on Peterson's podcast. Though many Catholics were skeptical about Barron engaging so closely with a figure who draws alt-right crowds, others commended him for opening the doors of the church to Peterson, who in the interview admitted he had a desire for faith and admired the Catholic Church.

Peterson's video hardly grasps the essential "message" of Christianity, and runs the risk of reducing it to something that it is not.

I found myself caught somewhere between these two "sides." To Barron's credit, he never indicated that he intended to use Peterson's work itself for evangelization purposes. Rather, he wanted to encourage Catholic pastors and educators to engage with his work despite its ideological nature and lack of total congruence with a Catholic worldview to understand the needs of young people, many of whom find Peterson's videos attractive. And I agree that it's much more effective to engage in a charitable dialogue with people whose ideologies don't fully converge with the church's teachings than to shout them down, downplay the convergences and tell them why they are in the wrong.

But if thats the case, I always wondered why Barron never engaged with Peterson's counterparts on the left, perhaps figures like U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, philosopher Slavoj Zizek, or professor and author Ibram X. Kendi, whose ideological left-wing rhetoric may not overlap perfectly with orthodox Catholic teaching, but does resonate strongly with many "nones" and does indeed converge with Catholic principles in several regards. Barron's videos condemning poststructuralist thought, critical theory and "woke ideology" seem to run contrary to the evangelization method he has been using to engage with ideologues of Peterson's stripe.

Peterson's video message to "the Christian churches," one of his first released after his partnership with Daily Wire, reflects some of the fruits of his dialogue with Barron. Already with more than 1.2 million views (surprisingly only half the amount as his "Message to Muslims"), the video displays Peterson sitting in what one might presume to be a house in the country, with bookshelves and a stack of wooden logs in the background fitting his whole "chadded intellectual" persona. Peterson squints into the teleprompter, as the screen switches periodically between camera angles in an attempt to hold the audience's attention for 11 long minutes of Peterson's pontificating. He proceeds to meld his characteristic Canadian accent with what seems to be his attempt to emulate his boss Ben Shapiro's biting, no-nonsense "wise guy" rhetorical style.

At the 2019 USCCB General Assembly, then Los Angeles Auxiliary Bishop Robert E. Barron suggested Jordan Peterson's message might bring religiously unaffiliated, or "nones," particularly young people, back to the Catholic Church. (CNS/Bob Roller)

His tirade targets critics of toxic masculinity nothing groundbreaking to those already familiar with Peterson's videos and praises "traditional" notions of masculinity that uphold heroic virtue, channeling instinctive aggression, and a stoic sense of duty to build up civilization and defend one's family. He sprinkles his diatribe with Daily Wire-isms like: "Wake up, sunshine!" " that old joker Derrida " "In the words of that mass murderer Karl Marx " Peterson's overt ideological flair gives the video a performative edge that renders it almost amusingly entertaining, albeit in an ironic way.

He goes on to tell "the Christian churches" that they should be upholding such masculine ideals and should be actively attempting to attract young men, going as far as suggesting that they put up billboards that read "Young Men Welcome Here!"

He encourages them not to beat young men down for their "toxic tendencies, but rather to sublimate them in a productive way by asking "more from them [and] remind[ing] them who they are You're churches, for god's sake! Quit fighting for social justice, quit saving the bloody planet! Attend to some souls, that's what you're supposed to do, that's your holy duty. Do it NOW before it's too late."

One of Jordan Peterson's most popular DailyWire+ videos is "Message to the Christian Churches." In it, the Canadian psychologist tells "the Christian churches" to uphold "traditional" masculine ideals and place billboards that read "Young Men Welcome Here!" (NCR screenshot/DailyWire+)

Keeping in mind that Peterson is trying to fit into the role of a hyperbolic performative shock jock like his peers at Daily Wire, I'm inclined to take his "message" with a grain of salt. I must admit that Peterson makes points that churches ought to consider (with a grain of salt.) I, like Peterson, question whether what often comes off as an attempt to "neutralize" men's aggressive tendencies is as useful as harnessing, integrating and transforming said tendencies toward virtuous ends. I've noticed that most of my friends who look up to Peterson happen to be working class and are people of color who see him as an alternative to a puritanized vision of masculinity that is more accommodating to bourgeois college-educated elites is something worth taking seriously.

My primary concern has more to do with Peterson's reactionary posturing, which clouds any of the redeemable qualities of his message, which is the same problem facing his colleagues at the Daily Wire such as Shapiro, Candace Owens and Matt Walsh. Not only does their posturing make it difficult for people who disagree to engage with some of the valid points they may make, but its performative, extravagant flair makes it hard to take them seriously.

My other concern has to do with the integrity of his message from a Christian perspective. Petersons emphasis on the value of channeling more "instinctive" manifestations of cis-typical masculine biology and psychology, and on the moral importance of fidelity to one's duties, is not necessarily "anti-Christian." But these virtues in themselves are pagan if they never are transformed by the theological "Christian" virtues of faith, hope and charity.

It seems to me that Peterson misunderstands what is most essential about Christianity. It is not merely a set of moral teachings, ideas or beliefs. It is not an ideology that upholds "traditional values." It is an encounter with a Person, an experience of God's love in the flesh. Surely Jesus himself (as well as the many male saints) embodied the natural masculine virtues that Peterson celebrates. But for Jesus, such virtues were not ends in themselves. Jesus didnt die on the cross out of a sense of manly courage or duty, but out of desire to give himself to humanity out of love.

The Christian notion of a "masculine genius" highlights a particular "mode of giving" (to use the words of Swiss theologian Hans Urs von Balthasar) that incorporates certain natural virtues, elevating them to the supernatural ideal to which we are all called: fatherhood and motherhood, which is ultimately a call to love creatively and generate life.

Take St. Joseph as an example. Hardly a "weakling" or a "wimp," nor "toxic" and "aggressive," St. Joseph was the ideal father because he courageously served and sacrificed for his wife and foster son not merely out of a moralistic sense of duty, but as a response to a supernatural calling to love. The summit of masculinity, as demonstrated by figures like St. Joseph, is this kind of paternal love the same for women, in a way that incorporates their unique gifts and virtues.

I concede that developing a sense of duty might be a significant starting point for many men especially ones who don't grow up in stable environments. It may be a stepping stone to understanding God's love for them and their supernatural vocation. But let's not kid ourselves. Peterson's video hardly grasps the essential "message" of Christianity, and runs the risk of reducing it to something that it is not.

You don't need to go to church to be taught how to adhere to your duties and establish order in your life. You can easily pick up a copy of a book by Marcus Aurelius, Nietzsche, Confucius, or a self-help book like Peterson's 12 Rules for Life. For young men who want to understand the fullness of Christian virtue, I'd recommend they instead pick up a copy of Pope Francis' apostolic letter Patris corde ("With a Father's Heart") on the life of St. Joseph.

Jordan Peterson Cried Discussing How Dont Worry Darling Incel King …

Jordan Peterson appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored Wednesday morning, and there was a single bright spot in two of the worst men in the world convening for a televised gab sesh: Peterson, at one point, broke down in tears.

While I cannot judge whether these tears were genuine or not, the red-meat-guzzling alpha male appeared to cry shortly after Morgan asked him about Dont Worry Darling director Olivia Wildes recent comments about him in Interview magazine. In the movie, Frank (Chris Pine), the main antagonist, is the leader of an incel-like cult, and Wilde explained that Frank was inspired by Peterson. We based that character on this insane man, Jordan Peterson, who is this pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community, she told actor Maggie Gyllenhaal in the interview.

Wilde added, Jordan Peterson is someone that legitimizes certain aspects of [incels] movement because hes a former professor, hes an author, he wears a suit, so they feel like this is a real philosophy that should be taken seriously.

This morning, Morgan asked the controversial author for his reaction to these comments: This insane man, this pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community, incel being these weirdo loner men who are despicable in many waysis that you? Are you the intellectual hero to these people? he said.

Sure, why not, Peterson replied, visibly emotional. People have been after me for a long time, because I have been speaking to young men, what a terrible thing to do. At that moment, he appeared to weep, before continuing, I thought the marginalized were supposed to have a voice?

G/O Media may get a commission

Wheres my tiny violin?

However casually the term incel may be wielded nowadays, incelswho weaponize their own frustrations and entitlement as an excuse to harass and abuse womenare extremely dangerous andbecoming more radical and violent. A new study found members of the most popular incel forumsviewed by 2.6 million people per monthmention the word kill every 37 minutes and the word rape every 29 minutes, and the subjects of their ire are, obviously, women and girls. Incels are largely fueled by the notion that women having rights amounts to mens oppressionand it certainly doesnt help when influential men go on TV and openly weep about how supposedly persecuted men are.

Noting Petersons emotional state at this point in their interview, Morgan asked if Wildes comments had stung him. Peterson called them kind of low-level compared to at least one other much-publicized fictional characterization of him. Last year, he was the muse for Ta-Nehisi Coates portrayal of the Nazi super-villain Red Skull in Coates Captain America comic book. Petersons exact response to this, at the time, was, What the hell? On Wednesday he told Morgan, Once I got painted as Red Skull, you know, a magical super-Nazi, that was kind of the end of the insults. Theres no place past that.

Despite the literal tears in Petersons eyes, he tried to save face by claiming to not be ~triggered~ by Wildes description of him. It didnt really bother me, he said, adding that he quite liked the trailer of the movie, though he hasnt watched it in full yet.

I said, I hope that you know that if I had to be played by someone, I think Chris [Pine] is a very good-looking man, Peterson continued. So that seems alright, you know.

Earlier in the interview, Peterson spoke at length about his frustration with how the demoralized young men whom he inspires are perceived. God, you know, its very difficult to understand how demoralized people are, and certainly many young men are in that category, he said. And you get these casual insults, these incelswhat does it mean? Of men who are characterized as incels, Peterson said theyre just rightfully upset that they dont know how to make themselves attractive to womenhis words, not mine!!

Women, like, be picky. Thats your gift, man. Demand high standards from your man. Fair enough, Peterson said. But all these men who are alienated, its like, theyre lonesome and they dont know what to do and everyone piles abuse on them.

If, as Peterson understands it, all cis, straight men have to fear in life is rejection, that still sounds like a luxury compared to what women are dealing with: being forced to give birth, attacked and disbelieved for reporting abuse, and bombarded by constant online death and rape threats. But, sure, Jordanhave a good cry about how marginalized men are!

One of our recurring questions here is the nature of crazy: Do people go crazy? Or were they always crazy, but just passing as normal?

Over at the UnPopulist, Tom Palmer catches up with alt-right conservative / brave intellectual dark web truth teller Jordan Peterson, who has made the journey from side-show curiosity to Putin apologist. Heres Palmer:

It turns out that there are people who believe that Putin was forced to invade Ukraine because Russia is a part of the West and therefore has a stake in its culture war whose Ground Zero is somehow Ukraine. That is the view that University of Toronto psychology professor and popular lecturer Jordan Peterson expressed in a recent 51-minute video monologue. In fact, he believes that Russias invasion has something to do with the controversies about gender and gender identity in the West.

Tell me more!

Peterson rose to fame because of his unsparing slams on wokeness and its crusade over gender identity, pronouns and so on. But in this monologue, he focuses his ire on the confirmation hearings of Supreme Court Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson. Peterson was particularly miffed that Brown dodged Tennessee Republican Senator Marsha Blackburns gotcha questionas Peterson himself puts itin which Brown was asked to provide a definition for the word woman. Jackson declined, noting that she was not a biologist. As far as Peterson is concerned, Jacksons refusal to answer Sen. Blackburns simple question is proof of a deranged, degenerate and insane West. . . .

Russia is a part of the West, he asserts, and Russians believe that they have the highest moral duty to oppose the degenerate ideas, philosophy, theology of the West. More strikingly, that belief, Peterson insists, is not wrong: And theres something about that, that is not wrong. And that is why the incursion of Russia into Ukraine is, more truly, a civil war in the West.

Now its all making sense. The nationalist-conservatives (a) love Putin and (b) are horny for civil war. Peterson has found a way to combine the two: The invasion of Ukraine is the new civil war. And the Russians are protecting their heritage and sovereignty?

I mean, in a way that all kind of scans, doesnt it? Especially when you understand that in this view, the Russians the Confederatesand thats why Peterson and some other conservatives are rooting for them.

Good times.

In Petersons case, I think the answer to our initial question has always been pretty obvious: The guy was crazy as a bag of cats from the get-go. Heres Palmer on the Peterson origin story:

Peterson has gained a huge internet following by sometimes sayingin very profound sounding tonesthings that seem pretty sensible, such as, If you want to change the world, you start with yourself and work outward because you build your competence that way. I dont know how you can go out and protest the structure of the entire economic system if you cant keep your room organized. That seems to me like reasonable advice to a young person. His books and his talks offer a lot more advice like that, such as pet a cat when you encounter one on the street. Im fond of cats so thats fine with mebut he lost me in his 12 Rules for Life book at step forward to take your place in the dominance hierarchy.

LPT: If you see a person in the public square who says some things that line up with your priors, but also seems maybe kind of crazy . . . theyre crazy. Or, as Neil McCauley (maybe) said, If theres any doubt, there is no doubt.

John Ganz has some thoughts about the origins of what he calls the American Vlkisch.

The chapter of my book Im currently writing deals with the Ruby Ridge incident, where Randy Weaver, a survivalist, and his family, faced off against the federal government in a siege of his Idaho cabin. As you may remember, the result was tragedy: the Weaver clan killed a Federal marshal, and the feds killed Weavers wife and son. The stand off at Ruby Ridge was perhaps the key moment in the creation of the modern militia movement. But what interests me at the moment is what the Weavers believed and how they came to believe it. The Weavers were followers of a Christian Identity, which stipulates that White Anglo-Saxons are the true Israelites of the Bible and that those known as Jews today were actually Satans spawn. They thought the U.S. government was dominated by a Satanic conspiracy and were prepared to kill and die for their beliefs.

Ganz asks how the Weavers, a normal, Midwestern couple, got radicalized. His answer is that their story,

involves their getting deeper and deeper into apocalyptic and conspiratorial thought, but very roughly speaking Christian Identity, which was actually developed by American Nazis in the 1930s, easily plugged into the religious traditions the Weavers grew up in. It contained millennialism, the idea of an elect, Biblical prophecy, and it organized people into local congregations: it was not a far cry from evangelical, Reformed, and fundamentalist Protestantism they grew up with, so it did not appear all that alien. But it twisted one tenet of Calvinism: instead of believers thinking of themselves as metaphorical Israelites, a community of believers in covenant with God, it taught that they were the literal bloodline descendants of the tribes, which also were actually the Aryans of Europe, not the Semites of the Middle East. In short, it replaced the concept of community with that of race.

Brief aside: If any of that sounds familiar to you, heres a bit of background about Pennsylvanias Republican gubernatorial candidate, Doug Mastriano, from a piece in The Bulwark a while back:

Mastriano also has an increasingly familiar religious profile. He has described the Gulf War, in which he served in 1991, as a holy wara belief reflected in his bizarre 2002 graduate thesis, Nebuchadnezzars Sphinx. He has attended events of the Charismatic Christian dominionist movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation. He shares anti-Muslim memes, hangs out with militia members to guard Confederate statues at Gettysburg, and constantly hits all the main themes of Christian nationalist discourse in his speeches and other activities. In one particularly tasteless moment, he announced his gubernatorial candidacy while wearing a tallit and blowing a shofarsymbols that Christian nationalists have appropriated from the Jewish tradition and use to declare apocalyptic spiritual war.

You dont have to be the worlds greatest detective to see whats going on here. Anyway . . .

Back to Ganz:

Many of the doctrines cooked up by the extreme right do similar variations on fundamental American myths. Theres a consistent effort to appropriate Americana. For instance, Posse Comitatus, which I wrote about recently, is related to Christian Identity teaching and plays on Old West themes of sheriffs and vigilantes; The Militia Movement tries to appropriate the language of the Constitution . . .

It occurred to me one thing that might help us to understand this phenomenon was George L. Mosses work, namely his book The Crisis of German Ideology: The Intellectual Origins of the Third Reich. Mosses argument is basically that Nazism didnt come out of nowhere, but that there was a fertile cultural context that dated back to the 19th century: the vlkisch movement. Vlkisch is a bit difficult to translate, on the one hand it can be as anodyne as popular and populist, but in this context it is redolent of blood-and-soil nationalism and mysticism. Vlkisch ideology had its roots in a romantic revolt against modernity: its adherents took a deep interest in the natural, going back to the land, in old Germanic folklore, mythology, and traditions. It often had a racial and anti-semitic component, opposing the earthy, practical German people to the abstract, alien Jew. The Nazis both sprang out of this subculture and took advantage of its penetration into the national imagination. In Mosses telling, Nazism was an ingenious combination of vlkisch anti-modernism and modern mass political techniques. . . .

One way to conceive of this far right Americana as a kind of American vlkism: an ideological imaginary that is a reaction to the modern situation but presents itself as rooted in the soil, in the countrys oldest traditions and lore.

Look, its not a straight line from the Vlkisch movement to traditionalists like Jordan Peterson and the Nat Cons. But you can see from one point to the other.

You should read the entire post from Ganz.

Conservative stars Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro address sellout crowd in Jerusalem – JNS.org

Posted: at 3:12 pm

(October 6, 2022 / JNS) Conservative superstars Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro lectured a standing-room only audience of approximately 3,000 at Jerusalems International Convention Center on Thursday.

In their speeches, the Daily Wire pundits addressed major challenges currently facing the Western world, the dynamics of power and totalitarianism, how the Torahs well-known stories and a core belief in God serve as pillars of morality for all of mankind and the role Israel can play as an emerging technological and moral superpower on the world stage.

Following the lectures, Peterson and Shapiro sat in conversation with former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, who focused many of the questions on the centrality of Jerusalem to Israels historical and biblical narratives, and the role of Israel as a Jewish nation-state. He asked critical questions about whether the U.S. is on a downslope.

Friedman is widely credited as a major force behind moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, Americas recognition of Israels sovereignty in the Golan Heights and contributing to the signing of the historic Abraham Accords normalization agreements between Israel and four Muslim-majority nations.

Much of Shapiros remarks delved into the theological realm. His thesis was that G-d brought three ideas into the world on Mt. Sinai with the giving of the Torah: that God is one, that human beings would be held to a standard of morality and that Israel is the specific nation G-d chose to represent his values.

Shapiro explained that the Torah demands that [mankind] act morally, and that G-d lays out a choice for each individual between good and evil. And he noted that God connects the Jewish people to a certain parcel of land: Eretz Yisrael, in order to fulfill its national mission.

He concluded that Jews must act as great light shining forth from this city, and implored the Jewish people never to forget Jerusalem, quoting the famous verse from the Prophet Isaiah that From Zion, Torah will come forth Torah, and the word of G-d from Jerusalem.

During the question-and-answer portion, Shapiro called Jerusalem the centerstone of Western civilization.

Conservative pundit Jordan Peterson, with former Ambassador David Friedman in the background, speaks at Jerusalems International Convention Center on Thursday. Credit: Alex Traiman.

Peterson addressed the role of stories, unity and responsibility in shaping the narrative of mankind. He noted that everything is subject to an infinite number of interpretations, a concept being abused by those who historically have sought power over the greater good.

The narrative that we impose on the world is nothing but naked power, he explained.

Peterson then analyzed the biblical stories of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Abraham and Moses.

He called Israel the cardinal model of the nation state, and asked whether as Jews in Israel, are you telling the greatest story ever told?

He expressed his hope that Israel would one day make peace, starting first in your own houses. To make peace you have to confront the serpent in the garden.

Coming back to the concept of perception in storytelling, Peterson noted that meaningful existence is attainable. The ultimate reality is right there, he said, at hand right in front of you; made in the image of G-d.

Quiet, everyone! Megyn Kelly has thoughts about Jordan Peterson and Super Bowl vaginas! – The Independent

Posted: at 3:12 pm

Megyn No-Stranger-to-Controversy Kelly has done it again this week. The firebrand TV and podcast host, in a bizarre blast from the past, bashed Latina superstars J-Lo and Shakira for their revealing outfits and sexy performance during the (wait for it) 2020 Super Bowl halftime show. And we thought only Trump was still fixated on 2020!

Some complained at the time that the Super Bowl show was inappropriate for the legions of children who no doubt had been watching the game. Never mind that this particular, long-ago Super Bowl featured several other disturbing sights, including Jason Momoa taking a bubble bath (in a commercial for Rocket Mortgage) and a horrifying ad for Planters peanuts in which the beloved Mr Peanut drops from a cliff to a fiery death. Not to mention the ultra-violent spectacle of pro football itself.

No, what seemed for Kelly and others as a bridge too far was the musical number featuring two beautiful, talented women of a certain age having a blast onstage (though Kelly insisted that their vag were visible, they were not). Oddly, Kelly also referred in the same segment to a recent Paulina Porizkova photoshoot, where the 57-year-old Czech model can be seen almost nude, as amazing. Guess it depends on whose bottom is showing.

Kelly also dipped a toe into the whirlpool of commentary surrounding Olivia Wildes new film Dont Worry Darling, with a full-throated defense of the Canadian pop psychologist Jordan Peterson. Peterson was the inspiration for the villainous character played by Chris Pine. Wilde called him a hero to the incel community, which she described as young men who feel they have been marginalized, and sexually deprived, by powerful, confident women.

Peterson thinks transgender rights somehow invalidate his own, denies the concept of white privilege, and says that men who do not intend to sexually harass women shouldnt be prosecuted for doing so. Megyn Kellys thoughts on the matter are: [Petersons] been one of the few people speaking to young men [about] whats been bothering them over the last few years, while she had this to say specifically of Wilde: Screw her!

Megyn Kelly is certainly entitled to her opinions, but some of those opinions need to be (and have been) called out. A few other examples of Kelly comments include: The Black community has a thug mentality and a culture of victimhood. Theres nothing wrong with white people dressing up in blackface. Santa and Jesus are white. (Note: while it did not save her career at NBC, Kelly did eventually offer apologies for the blackface remarks. Santa and Jesus are still waiting for theirs).

In a world where too many suffer from what could be called Selective Outrage Syndrome (Im only upset when my biases are called into question), we should hold Megyn Kelly and other prominent people to a higher standard. It has never been more important to consider the impact of our remarks and writings in this very polarized society.

But its unlikely that folks like Kelly will stop stoking controversy (which, after all, helps ratings). Its much likelier that well be hearing, and reading, even wilder pronouncements in the very near future.

If current events dont spark anything, Megyn what do you say about that Madonna-Britney Spears kiss at the 2003 VMA awards?

The rest is here:

Twitter erupts after Bloodline member takes a shot at Andrew Tate on WWE SmackDown premiere

Modified Oct 08, 2022 12:28 PM IST

Fans on Twitter went into a frenzy as Paul Heyman referenced Andrew Tate, Jordan Peterson, and Ben Shapiro during a face-off between Logan Paul and The Bloodline.

On this week's WWE SmackDown premiere, The Bloodline took to the ring to address the fans in attendance. However, before Roman Reigns could proceed with his promo, Logan Paul, Reigns' opponent at Crown Jewel, stepped up to the ring. Paul Heyman then cut a promo on Paul and the pop industry, referencing Tate, Peterson, and Shapiro in the process.

In reaction to Heyman namedropping Tate on live television, fans went wild on Twitter. The majority of them praised the veteran manager for taking shots at Tate, while some even questioned if Tate was going to face Roman Reigns down the road.

Check out the Twitter reactions below:

Throughout 2022, Tate gained massive popularity on social media. He is a former kickboxer whose comments in recent months have led to him getting banned on multiple social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

At the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel show in Saudi Arabia, Roman Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Logan Paul. He will aim to get a big win for The Bloodline.

The Tribal Chief will put his title on the line against the YouTube megastar, who will be competing in only his third match with the promotion. Reigns and Paul previously sat down for an interview on the IMPAULSIVE podcast, which marked the beginning of their ongoing rivalry.

The Maverick almost caused a riff among The Bloodline on the latest episode of SmackDown when he followed Heyman's promo by asking who The Tribal Chief was, Roman Reigns or Jey Uso? The situation was handled by Sami Zayn, who reiterated that the faction needs to be on the same page.

Could Andrew Tate be the next social media influencer after Logan Paul to appear in WWE? Sound off in the comments section below.

Did a respected WWE Hall of Famer predict a major title switch at Extreme Rules right here?

When it comes to the on-set drama surrounding the production of "Don't Worry Darling," none has been more talked about than the situation with leading actress Florence Pugh. While lots of the gossip is probably just conjecture, there are also people who worked on the film claiming she didn't seem to get along with Olivia Wilde throughout the filming process. Insiders have suggested that Pugh may have been uncomfortable with the budding relationship between Wilde and her co-star Harry Styles on-set (perWMagazine).

In response to buzz around the movie focusing on sex scenes between her and Styles in part fuelled by Wilde's own interviews about the film Pugh said, "When it's reduced to your sex scenes, or to watch the most famous man in the world go down on someone, it's not why we do it," adding that the film and the people who made it are above those discussions. She also did not attend the film's photocall and press at its premiere in Venice, fuelling speculation that there had been a falling-out between her and Wilde.

However, members of the cast and crew have since gone on record to dismiss the rumors of hostilities between Wilde and Pugh after speaking with People. They said, "As a crew, we've avoided addressing the absurd gossip surrounding the movie we're so proud of, but feel the need to correct the anonymous 'sources' quoted in a recent article." They also added, "Any allegations about unprofessional behavior on the set of 'Don't Worry Darling' are completely false." It seems as though any rumors of drama have been categorically denied by many individuals involved with the movie.

Jordan Peterson Breaks Down in Tears When Asked About Olivia Wilde Calling Him a Hero to the Incel Community: Sure, Why Not? – Variety

Posted: October 2, 2022 at 4:44 pm

Jordan Peterson broke down in tears during an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored (via Mediaite) when asked about Olivia Wilde referring to him as a hero to the incel community. Wilde was on her Dont Worry Darling press tour when she revealed to Interview Magazine that Chris Pines villainous character in the film, Frank, is based on Peterson. Wilde called Peterson this pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community.

Sure. Why not? Peterson said when Piers Morgan asked if Wildes assessment of him was true. You know, people have been after me for a long time because Ive been speaking to disaffected young men.

Peterson then broke down into tears and said, Its very difficult to understand how demoralized people are, and certainly many young men are in that category. You get these casual insults, these incels what do they mean? These men, they dont know how to make themselves attractive to women who are very picky, and good for them. Women, like, be picky. Thats your gift, man. Demand high standards from your men. Fair enough. But all these men who are alienated, its like theyre lonesome and they dont know what to do and everyone piles abuse on them.

After calling Peterson a hero to incel community, Wilde described incels as disenfranchised, mostly white men, who believe they are entitled to sex from women. And they believe that society has now robbed them that the idea of feminism is working against nature, and that we must be put back into the correct place.

This guy Jordan Peterson is someone that legitimizes certain aspects of their movement because hes a former professor, hes an author, he wears a suit, so they feel like this is a real philosophy that should be taken seriously, Wilde added.

Peterson told Morgan that he wasnt too offended by Wildes comment (it was a low-level insult, he said). Instead, the diss convinced Peterson to check out the Dont Worry Darling trailer.

I thought, Id go see that movie. and perhaps I will, Peterson said. It didnt really bother me [Chris Pine] is a very good looking man I hope he gets my fashion style choice right.

When asked about why he got emotional discussing Wildes comment, Peterson again fought back tears and said, Its really something to see constantly how many people are dying for lack of an encouraging word and how easy it is to provide that if youre careful.

Dont Worry Darling is now playing in theaters nationwide. Watch Peterson and Morgans full discussion below.

Who is Jordan Peterson and what is his net worth? – AS USA

Posted: at 4:44 pm

If you have heard the name Jordan Peterson then it is likely you have either seen him on YouTube, in a book, or hanging with some celebrities. He has a number of bestsellers including 12 Rules for Life self-help book, selling millions of copies. The Canadian professor recently took a snap alongside Manchester United and Portugal frontman Cristiano Ronaldo.

Peterson gained public attention due to a number of YouTube videos he featured in back in 2016. He criticised political correctness in his opposition to a Canadian government bill aimed at protecting peoples gender identity. Following this up he had a round of media appearances butting heads with presenters, only enhancing his popualrity. Back in 2016-2018 the YouTube algorithm meant these videos were endlessly sent around teenage boys feeds. Titles include Jordan Peterson calmly dismantles feminism infront of two feminists with more than 21 million views.

Peterson reguritates anti-feminist tropes but with a layer of academic language, giving some legitimacy to otherwise nonsense beliefs. He joins a chorus of red-pilled incel (involuntary celibate) influencers in discussing female hypergamy, the belief that if there was no such thing as monogamy that a small number of men would be mating with a large number of women, keeping the rest of men in sexless lives. This is a core incel belief. It takes into no account of what a womans choice may be in the matter, however.

In one video, titled Evolutionary Psychologist Explains Why Women Fall For Bad Boys, he talks about dark triad traits and why mainly younger women tend to be attracted to so-called bad boys. There is absolutely no evidence for thinking like this but the fact that a qualified professor talks about it means people may believe it.

Tabatha Southey, a columnist for the Canadian magazine Macleans, described him asthe stupid mans smart person.

Petersons secret sauce is to provide an academic veneer to a lot of old-school rightwing cant, including the notion that most academia is corrupt and evil, and banal self-help patter, says Southey. Hes very much a cult thing, in every regard. I think hes a goof, which does not mean hes not dangerous.

Celebritynetworth.com estimates his wealth to be upwards of $8 million. This is due to information he gave in a 2019 interview where he discussed money from his book releases and patreon, which he has now shutdown.

THE DAY OF ATONEMENT YOM KIPPUR

The most important holiday in the Jewish faithbegins at sundown on Tuesday, Oct. 4, and ends at nightfall on Wednesday. On Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement, Jews around the world fast for 25 hours, as they repent and seek forgiveness for the sins of the past year. The day marks the culmination of the Ten Days of Repentance that begin on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year. According to tradition, God opens the Book of Life on Rosh Hashanah and closes it on Yom Kippur, when He has decided each persons fate.

As a country, Israel halts for the entire day; businesses shut down and roads empty of vehicles. Many attend synagogue services and refrain from any kind of work. Although state law does not prohibit driving on Yom Kippur, almost all citizens refrain from it, religious and secular alike. Israeli children enjoy the holiday to its fullest, rollerblading or riding their bicycles in the middle of the road throughout the country.

HEIGHTENED SECURITY ALERT CONTINUES

Israeli security forces will remain on high alert this week, following tensions between Palestinian visitors and Jewish worshippers on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Footage thatcirculatedon social media last week showed a group of Palestinian Arabs attacking Jews from the al-Aqsa mosque, throwing Molotov cocktails and rocks at them despite the heavy IDF presence in the area. The uptick in violence follows an explicit warning from the terrorist group Hamas that the attacks will escalate in the coming days.

JORDAN PETERSON, BEN SHAPIRO SPEAK IN JERUSALEM

Conservative thought-leaders Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro will hold an on-stage conversation about The Future of Freedom in Jerusalem on Thursday, Oct. 6.

The highly anticipated event is already sold-out and is drawing much attention, as it is expected to be Petersons first visit to the Holy Land. Shapiro delivered an address in front of 2,500 Israelis in July as keynote speaker at CPAC Israel, where he defended biblical morality.

According to the organizers of Thursdays event, The Tikvah Fund and Sella Meir Publishing, the two prominent intellectuals from The Daily Wire will discuss questions like:How can we preserve and strengthen the family in the West?

Which virtues are most under attack, and how can they be protected and restored?

How can Israel, in particular, help confront the challenges facing the free world?

THE ROSENBERG REPORT ON TBN

Produced in Jerusalem, The Rosenberg Report will offer a close-up of current events and issues in Israel and the Muslim/Arab world. It also will cover major geopolitical, economic and spiritual events and trends in the U.S. and around the world, from a biblical perspective.

ISRAEL-LEBANON MARITIME-BORDER DISPUTE

Israels security cabinet is expected to convene on Thursday to discuss a draft agreement which aims to settle a maritime-border dispute with Lebanon over the position of an Israeli gas field. Indirect negotiations between the two countries, led by U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein, have been ongoing for months. Haaretzreportsthat the sides seem to have reached some mutual understanding and that a deal is being finalized.

The Israeli opposition, led by former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has slammed Prime Minister Yair Lapids government for heading into a deal they say will transfer Israeli territories worth billions of dollars to an enemy state, without allowing any discussion of the issue at the Knesset.

Lapid addressed the potential deal at the weekly Cabinet, confirming that they are discussing the final details. He noted that as we have demanded from the start, the proposal safeguards Israel's full security-diplomatic interests, as well as our economic interests.

For over a decade, Israel has been trying to reach this deal. The security of the north will be strengthened. The Karish field will operate and produce natural gas. Money will flow into the states coffers and our energy independence will be secured. This deal strengthens Israels security and Israels economy, he continued.

BANK OF ISRAEL TO RAISE INTEREST RATE

Mirroring the Federal Reserves move last week, the Bank of Israel is expected to raise the interest rate on Monday in an attempt to fight inflation. According to certain estimates, a hike of 0.5% is likely. The increase will be the fifth time that Israels central bank has raised the interest rate since April. Israels annual consumer price index (CPI) for inflation dipped from 5.2% in July to a 4.6% rate in August. It is considerably lower than U.S. inflation, which stands at 8.3%.

NEW TITLE COULD SHIELD MBS FROM LAWSUIT

A U.S. court case against Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who was named Saudi Arabias prime minister last week, will face a crucial deadline on Monday. The case involves bin Salmans alleged connection to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and was initiated by Khashoggis fiance.

As ordered by the court, the Biden administration will have to weigh in on whether the prince should be protected by sovereign immunity, which usually is granted to a world leader, such as a prime minister or king. The timing in which bin Salman received his new title has been seen as an attempt to evade the lawsuits potential implications, and is also a major step of ascension to the helmof Saudi leadership.

This week we are also keeping an eye on these developing stories:

... Where does Italys new prime minister standon Israel?

... Is Jerusalem at the heart of the battlefor Brazil?

... What is driving the mass protests in Iran and why are Iranian womencutting their hair?

... What exactly is The Rapture and what happens to those who are left behind?

... Why do some Christians believe The Rapturewill happen on or around Rosh Hashanah?
