K.Flay has shared her new EP, Outside Voices.

The new collection is the second of the double EP project, following Junes Inside Voices. The new collection looks at a whole slew of human emotions, amplified by K.Flays own experiences. The genre-bending artist explores everything from the effects of capitalism to the immortality of your memories.

Its me pausing, taking a moment to reflect on the chaos of the world and of myself, and considering how I might be able to temper that chaos, K.Flay explains of Outside Voices. How Ive been complicit. How can I change? How can I find beauty in pain?

Stream Outside Voices below.

This whole double EP project is an exercise in non-repression in airing my own bits of shame and vulnerability in the hopes that other people connect to those feelings too.

On Outside Voices, K.Flay collaborates with Sir Slys Jason Suwito, Tommy English, and Fast Friends. It features previously released single Nothing Can Kill Us.

Hawk, Houston’s electric kicking tee retriever, won the college football weekend – GolfDigest.com

Posted: at 4:05 pm

Last week, our college football weekend MVP Jared Casey won hearts over with his heroic game-winning catch to beat the Texas Longhorns. Within a few days, he was starring in an Applebee's commercial, proof that everybody on a college football rostereven a walk-on fullbackis one play or one big social media moment away from making a quick buck thanks to the new NIL rules.

We're about to find out if those rules apply to equipment managers, too. Or, more specifically, kicking tee retrieval guys like Big Hawk from Houston. Here's Hawk chasing down an immobile tee during Houston's 31-13 romp of Memphis Friday night:

The shirt, the mullet, the full-speed sprint, the dive and roll, the tumble back toward the sideline, the staredown. It's all there. A perfect storm of social media virality. Would anyone be surprised if Big Hawk was starring in a commercial for a local car dealership by week's end?

Apparently, Hawk's kicking tee retrieval act was paying homage to legendary kicking tee retrieval guy Bill "Mojo" Lackey, who was grabbing kicking tees and spiking them on the sideline while Big Hawk was but a twinkle in his father's eye:

Legends emulating legends. You love to see it. Somebody in Houston get Hawk on a billboard, pronto.

(In this section, we'll dole out helmet stickers for those who *almost* won the weekend.)

Five Helmet Stickers: Jordan Davis

For the second straight week, we're giving out a five spot to a Big Fella for scoring a touchdown. There may not be a bigger fella in the country than Jordan Davis, who continues to wreak absolute havoc on this college football season:

As you can hear, the Davis TD was a popular one at Sanford Stadium. A well-earned TD for the senior on Senior Day. Not long after the score, his legend continued to grow on social media:

The man is an absolute terror, which made him directing the band following Georgia 56-7 victory over Charleston Southern that much funnier of an image:

What a way to go out in Athens. All that's left now for Davis to achieve UGA immortality is a national title. It's Georgia's year. Tell 'em, Kirby.

Four Helmet Stickers: Joey Chestnut

Wait, the hot dog eating guy? Damn right. Chestnut was on hand for Coastal Carolina's 35-21 win over Texas State, which the team celebrated by having a pizza-eating contest against Chestnut, naturally.

Least surprising news ever - Chestnut won:

Three Helmet Stickers: Abule Abadi-Fitzgerald

ESPN pulled out some of their best NFL Draft/sad facts material for this graphic:

We went from 0 to 100 real quick there. Here's hoping Abule gets to see his mom again soon.

Two Helmet Stickers: Dorian Thompson-Robinson

How 'bout them UCLA Bruins? After a tough two-game stretch with a close loss to Oregon and a blowout loss at Utah, the fightin' Chip Kellys have rebounded with back-to-back wins, including Saturday's 62-33 bloodbath over rival USC. Hell of a way for senior quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson to cap off the rivalry. That man had himself a game, with 349 passing yards and four touchdowns, PLUS two more rushing tuddies, including this one:

SHEEEEESH. If that hurdle wasn't disrespectful enough, DTR got himself an unsportsmanlike conudct penalty for going full Terrell Owens and signing a fan's hat after scoring his other rushing TD:

Think of the poor children that may be watching and .... enjoying this moment. For shame.

One Helmet Sticker: Fearless Champion

Where else do we celebrate animals retiring like college football does? Nowhere. Pour one out for Fearless Champion. What a career.

-1000 Helmet Stickers: Dan Mullen

From hanging with Alabama in the SEC Chamoionship game to FIRED in less than 12 months. Things escalated very quickly for Dan Mullen in Gainesville. As many pointed out, Mullen was doomed the moment former Gators corner Marco Wilson threw that shoe against LSU last year:

For those who don't recall, the Gators were a three-to-four touchdown favorite for this LSU game at home a year ago, and they lost outright, 37-34. Seven days later, they took Alabama to the wire in Atlanta, ultimately losing 52-46. Then they got their doors blown off by Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl, and have now fallen to 5-6 on the season following their OT loss at Missouri, putting them in danger of missing a bowl game should they lose to a suddenly spunky Florida State team. Fortunately for Mullen, he won't be around for that potential debacle. Making matters worse was the fact he got trolled into another dimension by Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz:

If you're lost on what this means, Mullen likes to dress like Darth Vader to press conference on occasion, usually around Halloween. That means a 5-5 Mizzou squad had this victory celebration/troll job planned out before actually beating Florida, which took a two-point conversion in overtime. If that's not an indictment on the Mullen era at UF, we're not sure what is.

Chennai woman buries ‘soothsayer’ husband alive to attain immortality for him – The Tribune

Posted: November 21, 2021 at 9:44 pm

Chennai, November 21

A 55-year-old woman in Perumbakam in Chennai is alleged to have buried her husband alive as he had wished to attain immortality after death.

The daughter of Nagaraj, who was working as an IT professional came home on Thursday and found that her father was missing and her mother Lakshmi did not inform anything. However on Saturday, after continuous pestering, informed her that on the basis of the wish of her father he was buried alive so that he could attain immortality.

The husband, Nagaraj, 59, after visiting a few temples across Tamil Nadu had told people that he was communicating directly to God and that he was a priest. He had also built a small temple in the backyard of their home and used it to deliver prophecies to people who visited the place.

Police said according to his daughter, on Tuesday, November 16, Nagaraj developed chest pain and told his wife that he was going to die and asked her to bury him alive so that he could attain immortality.

After he was unconscious, Lakshmi called two labourers and told them that they want to dig a big pit and claimed that it was for a water tank. She buried Nagaraj on November 17, Wednesday while he was unconscious.

Police dug out the body from the pit in presence of RDO and sent it for postmortem. Perambakkam SHO told IANS that the postmortem report would reveal whether Nagaraj was buried alive. IANS

Gillian Chung starred in Da Ji with heavy make-up and styling, causing immortality to be lost. Netize… – The Times Hub

November 21, 2021

Gillian Chung starred in Da Ji with heavy make-up and styling, causing immortality to be lost. Netizens ridiculed: thinking that they would travel to the Tang Dynasty

40-year-old Zhong Xintong (A Jiao) starred as the heroine of the mainland online movie Feng Shen: Da Ji. She is always a topic of netizens when she is fat and thin. The film crew released Gillians reply to her thin body and riding a white horse. Netizens praised him for being full of immortality, and even pointed out that his face value had returned to the peak; however, after watching the latest movie trailer, a group of netizens seemed to want to return the praise and speech before, Zhong ridiculed Gillian as the queen mother is more than Daji.

Gillian, who was once known as the beauty in ancient costume, played the role of the classic beauty Daji in Fengshen: Daji, and staged a romantic drama with Shen Zhenxuan, who played the king of Zhou. In the latest trailer of the movie, Gillians Daji look tends to be gorgeous and sexy, but Gillian wears thick fur, which makes her figure more slender and bloated. He also adds exaggerated headwear, which is very different from the previous Daji look. In particular, it failed to replace the classic Wen Bixia of the year.

In addition, some netizens pointed out that Gillians makeup was too heavy and the makeup was not meticulous enough, as if the eyebrows on both sides were drawn to different thickness by the makeup artist, and the eye makeup and lip makeup were too old-fashioned. A group of netizens discussed the appearance of Gillians Daji, pointing out that Gillians body is obese, and her shape is unsatisfactory: Like a queen dowager than a traitorous concubine, A Jiao looks more like a human than a human being, Im so fat, I thought I went to the Tang Dynasty, I dont know how to solve the hard problems, there is a kind of Xue Jiayan feel. And so on.

Victims are perceived as more morally virtuous than non-victims, study finds – PsyPost

Posted: at 9:44 pm

A series of 17 studies published in Science Advances document the Virtuous Victim effect the tendency for people to see victims of wrongdoing as more morally virtuous than non-victims who have behaved in an identical manner.

Narratives about victims of immoral acts are prevalent in contemporary discourse found in personal and work lives, the news, and on social media. Perceptions of victims may have societal implications, including the shaping of policy and legal responses, the treatment of victims in their social networks, the decisions victims make about whether their story ought to be shared with others, and the societal framing and evaluation of moral debates regarding allegations of victimization.

Some research suggests that at times victims are blamed for causing their own victimization. Other bodies of work have found that people perceive victims as less agentic and more passive. In this work, Jillian J. Jordan and Maryam Kouchaki ask: How do people perceive the moral character of victims?

A total of 9,676 participants were recruited across 17 experiments, with 16 of the studies conducted online and 1 conducted in a laboratory. The basic design of this research involved assigning participants to a neutral or victim condition, where they were presented with narratives that contained identical information regarding a target characters behaviour. In the victim condition, participants were informed that another character treated the target immorally, while this was not the case for the neutral condition.

After reading narratives, participants provided a morality and trustworthiness rating for the target character. Some experiments also included secondary measures, such as sympathy felt for the target. This basic design was applied to six different narratives with six distinct moral transgressions (e.g., theft, verbal attack, medical malpractice).

The researchers also explored potential boundaries of the Virtuous Victim effect by manipulating variables such as first or third person narration, target gender, and competence. As well, they explored possible explanations for the effect, including the Justice Restoration Hypothesis which argues that victims are seen as moral because this motivates punishment of perpetrators and helping of victims, and people are frequently incentivized to enact or encourage such justice-restorative actions.

Jordan and Kouchaki found that victims are often seen as more virtuous than non-victims across a wide range of moral transgressions not because of how they have behaved, but because of how others have mistreated them. This effect was not moderated by the victims race or gender. In exploring the potential boundaries of this effect, the researchers found that the effect may be especially likely for victim narratives that describe the perpetrator and are narrated in third person. Further, this effect was specific to victims of immortality, and did not extend to accidental victims, or to moral virtue (i.e., positive but nonmoral traits, such as athleticism and funniness).

Additionally, the results provide support for the Justice Restoration Hypothesis, which suggests that seeing victims as virtuous motivates justice-restorative action. Importantly, introducing disincentives for such action eliminated the Virtuous Victim effect.

One limitation of this work is that it relied on hypothetical narratives, with most of these presented in third person. The authors suggest that future work explore perceptions of real-world victims, both in third person contexts (e.g., news coverage, gossip), as well as personal story sharing.

The study, Virtuous victims, was authored by Jillian J. Jordan and Maryam Kouchaki.

Interactive platform lets you share your voice, stories, personality, and photos with loved ones for generations to come

EL CERRITO, CA / ACCESSWIRE / November 16, 2021 / Today HereAfter AI is launching a first-of-its kind platform that lets users create voice avatars to share their life stories with loved ones. Using conversational AI, HereAfter is reinventing remembrance, making memories dynamic, instantly accessible, and engaging.

Unlike life story books that gather dust on shelves, or photos and videos that get lost on hard drives, the HereAfter app is interactive-you talk to it, and it talks back. Accessible via a web and mobile app, the app understands a wide range of life story questions and instantly finds the best answers.

Here's how the platform works:

Through the app, users connect with a friendly chatbot interviewer who asks story-inspiring questions and records peoples' spoken replies.

Users can also upload photos to accompany the stories they tell.

HereAfter AI's biographical platform takes those recordings and automatically creates a custom voice avatar, unique for each user.

Family members and close friends can then chat with the avatars by speaking to the app or smart home speakers. Following their curiosity and using whatever wording they like, users can ask questions like "what's your earliest memory," "who was your first love," "how did you pick your career," "when did you feel happiest," or "what is grandma's fantastic lasagna recipe?"

The avatar replies with stories, memories, and advice, speaking in the recorded voice of the person who created it. Photos related to the stories show onscreen at the same time.

Each avatar also represents the unique personality of its creator, making small talk, telling jokes, singing songs, and employing the person's distinctive manner of speaking.

"How many times do we wish we could talk to a loved one just one more time?" said James Vlahos, HereAfter AI's cofounder and CEO. A former tech journalist and the author of a book about conversational AI, his motivation for launching the company was personal. "When my father was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, I knew I wanted to figure out a better way to remember him." Vlahos spent a year programming a persona-sharing AI that he called the Dadbot. After receiving attention from around the world, including from a cover story in Wired, and fielding inquiries from people who wanted something similar to preserve memories of their own loved ones, Vlahos launched HereAfter AI.

Story continues

"Imagine seeing your full family tree, going back generations," Vlahos says. "But instead of just learning basic facts-birthdates, marriages, names of children- you can actually have conversations with your ancestors. You can learn about their lives through engaging stories. You can get a sense for their personalities."

One early user, Debbie E., explained, "Hearing my dad's stories, I learned more about his life than I had ever known previously. HereAfter is precious to me and will be a great gift for my family forever."

Creating voice avatars on the HereAfter AI platform is free. Plans for sharing the avatars with family members start at $7.99 per month. To learn more, visit http://www.hereafter.ai.

Bee Gees and Celine Dion’s heartwarming friendship revealed in behind-the-scenes footage – Smooth Radio

Posted: at 1:39 pm

17 November 2021, 10:42

Celine Dion and the Bee Gees are some of the greatest artists of all time and Celine shared a special relationship with the Bee Gees brothers.

Celine Dion and the Bee Gees had a unique friendship that was highlighted during their collaboration together in the 1990s.

Celine collaborated with the Bee Gees on the hit song Immortality in 1998 - when it was released it reached number five in the official UK singles chart.

In rare behind-the-scenes footage, Celine and the Bee Gees' friendship is clearly seen as they record the song in the studio together.

Immortality was gifted to Celine from the Bee Gees and they wrote it with her in mind - after struggling to compose the song, at the end of a recording session the band managed to create the track in a matter of minutes.

According to the bands official website, the Bee Gees created Immortality with their music engineer John Marchant and he recalled the unforgettable moment.

John mentioned that the brothers were coming to the end of a long songwriting session and they were trying to work on one specific idea. As the group struggled to make the idea work, they decided to take a break.

Its thought that Barry suggested that the Bee Gees return to the idea the following morning - he also mentioned that he had another idea in mind that they might be able to do something with.

John recalled the story and said that he gets goosebumps every time he shares it because they managed to create it in one pass.

He started playing the intro for the song Immortality,' Maurice listened, and played the first chord, and then three and a half minutes later, they wrote the songin real-time, in just one pass, John explained.

I get goosebumps telling that story. It was unbelievable. Barry would change chords, and Maurice would be there immediately, like he knew where Barry was going.

He continued: They locked in together in a way, both timing-wise and intonation-wise, that only someone who knows what the other person is thinking before they think it could do.

So, the way you hear Celine Dion perform [Immortality] now is exactly how they did it [that night], John added.

In 2017, Celine performed Immortality at a televised concert titled Stayin Alive: A Grammy Salute to the Music of the Bee Gees.

Its a song that means more and more to me each day, Celine said as she introduced the track and dedicated it to the Bee Gee brothers.

She added: Tonight I sing it with love for Barry and in memory of Robin, Maurice and Andy.
