There are so many mysteries to discover in Funcom's The Secret World, and each time we get the opportunity to spend a day with it, we come away with more questions than answers. The last time we saw the game we played as a Templar, and this time it was the Illuminati. The Illuminati have had a place in our culture for hundreds of years. As a secret society that is said to have staged important historical events, this faction in The Secret World is also poised to contribute a great deal to the events that are unraveling around them. Unlike the Templars, the Illuminati seem more calculating and ruthless, fixated on getting the job done and caring little for anything else.

The intro sequence is similar to that of the Templar; you swallow a bug, gain mystical powers, and then someone shows up at your door looking to recruit you. The vibe and tone is different however, because when you finally stumble upon their secret headquarters, you become their guinea pig test subject rather than a welcomed new recruit. It's not that they aren't entirely unwelcoming, it's just that there seems to be a lot more at risk - like your neck - if you don't follow through on your missions.

Like last time, we took part in a dungeon run, with a developer as our healer as we tackled the minibosses and  eventually the final boss. These instances always require a fair bit of teamwork and coordination, because even though we were told what we needed to do, victory was still no easy task. When we were left to our own devices, we spent our time taking on quests in the deserts of Egypt, trying to figure just why this talking mummy in a white suit had such a nonchalant attitude. (It's possible that after a few thousand years, one finally learns the secret to relaxation and inner peace.) The quests ranged from slaying cultists to locating very specific locations or people. While you're given a general range on the map as a hint, there were times when we were wandering around in circles trying to figure out exactly where we needed to go. The scorched desert is no small playground, and the narrow streets of al-Merayah had a lot of dead ends so we'll admit that we took the...scenic route - a lot.

It's easy to get wrapped up in the story of The Secret World, even though we were plopped in the middle of things about 60 hours in and only had a vague notion of what was going on. The cutscenes are all voice acted (and as of this time can't be skipped) so we were absorbed in what the characters had to say. Since we were further in the game, we were able to play with some of the later abilities, although we kept to our preset ones because they were picked carefully for us so that we could hold our own. The missions weren't easy to take on solo, so we did team up to keep the brainwashed cultists and giant scorpions at bay.

R&B singer The-Dream is the latest artist to offer his take on hip-hop's speculated secret devil-worshipping society, the Illuminati, and why he has a hard time believing it actually exists.

In Dream's opinion, critics use Illuminati as an excuse to take away credit from hardworking entertainers.

"Pretty funny, 'cause nobody really wants to give you credit for where you at," Dream said when asked his opinion on Illuminati talks. "It's a 'higher' power and they just happened to give it to the black people, yeah right. Whatever. If there was an Illuminati, they wouldn't let black people in." (The LIFE Files TV)

Recently, Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame shared the same sentiment when asked about Young Money's Nicki Minaj and Illuminati rumors.

"I ain't got no thoughts on that, that's bullsh*t. Honeslty, -- n*ggas just make up names 'cause they don't know people's business," Flocka said in an interview. "So they create business for people's business. Like, if people stop being so nosy and stay out of people's business, maybe the name Illuminati won't be created. Honestly, they're just making a lot of money off of that sh*t because they selling books to people that's buying it, and that money is generating millions. I don't believe in that sh*t. Salute to Nicki, I loved her performance. I love everything she does. Squad." (Toronto Rappers)

Last year, rap mogul Jay-Z spoke on the topic of success and getting targeted in devil-worshipping talk.

"It may sound arrogant," he says, "but I just think people can't handle when somebody is successful. Something has gotta be wrong: you gotta be down with some higher power. And I guess when someone else is successful, it makes you feel like maybe you're a failure. So it can't be you, it has to be some other force." (Sky)

Back in 2010, rap veteran Uncle Luke defended Jay-Z in light of his Illuminati association accusations.

"I don't know any devil worshippers. And who knows, maybe Jay-Z and other rappers have some devil worshipers as fans. But that doesn't mean entertainers are sacrificing virgins for Beelzebub. I didn't even know who the Illuminati were until the Internet started buzzing that Jay-Z was one of them. It's ridiculous. Jay-Z is a cool cat. He ain't Hollywood. He is a regular guy. Illuminati Film's AGENT VINOD is readying for its March release and producer-actor Saif Ali Khan couldn't be more excited.

?What do Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown, Barack Obama, a marijuana-toting pilot who wandered into the presidential airspace leaving Corona del Mar and the shooting of two Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Long Beach have in common?

They are all connected to the Hollywood Illuminati Agenda, according to an imaginative blogger.

Creoleguy32 goes into much more detail on the Hollywood Illuminati Agenda-exposing hollywoodilluminatidotcom, but here are some key points:

?Brown was paid in drugs to get his then-wife Houston to sign an Illuminati Contract against her wishes. The "standard Illuminati Contract that all black musical artists sign" so they can "reach Super Star Status" ala Michael Jackson, Jay-Z and Kanye West (who has complained about the Hollywood Illuminati) forced Houston to become an actress by taking a role in The Bodyguard. She also signed a separate pact to promote Lucifer via black dysfunction, drug use and glorification of perverted sexual lifestyles.

But Houston eventually tried to break her contract by appearing in The Preacher's Wife and getting gospel songs onto her records. Which brings us to Obama:

How does the Illuminati kill you? Well they make sure that you have all of the drugs that you can have and they get you addicted to drugs (legal or illegal). Just yesterday, when Obama was flying into Orange County, Ca (where Whitney Houston was living)--a drug plane got busted by Air Force One because it was flying in Obama's air space. Who controls these drug planes? The CIA and Wall Street Illuminati Banking Families.
 
This drug plane had a shipment of drugs for the Hollywood Illuminati and while the media is saying that this plane only had marijuana on board, it actually had cocaine....LOTS OF COCAINE.
 
There was so much of cocaine on this plane that was grounded in Long Beach, Ca by Obama's "people" that two ICE Agents in Long Beach, Ca started shooting at each other, in the Federal Building for screwing up the shipment. The media will lie to you but I will tell you what really goes down with these people.

Where does this cocaine go?  It goes to LA Sheriff Lee Baca, Beverly Hills PD, Sony Music, Universal Music and Warner Bros Studio.

 
It matters not that Houston died on Feb. 11, Obama was in Southern California the morning of Feb. 16 and the ICE shootings were that same evening . . . WTF? The plot had already thickened years earlier, when the Hollywood Illuminati got Brown clean and Houston busted in Hawaii and at airports. They threatened to jail her family members, including Dionne Warwick, who was to be gang raped by Brazilian prison guards if Houston did not comply.

The Hollywood Illuminati made sure Houston's drug dealer was with her in Beverly Hills before the Grammys. Creoleguy32 even claims to know who it is, though he won't dish. So, why kill her? Because her Illuminati Contract was to expire before she turned 50.

She was injected with a substance in her butt, she saw the shadow of a needle when she was on her hotel room bed and got paranoid because when she turned around, no one was there

She thought her mind was playing tricks on her. She broke out into a cold sweat, ran the water to the tub as she tried to go on the toilet, she grew weak and thought that she was coming down with a flu or virus because she was sweating so much and when she got into the tub, barely able to walk, she fainted and drowned. She died a hard death. It was painful.

She was murdered. Killed by the Illuminati.

Sure, this all makes nothing but sense. But I fear Creoleguy32 is ignoring other key evidence . . .

A week after rap star Nicki Minaj raised eyebrows with her controversial Grammy Awards performance, Atlanta's Waka Flocka Flame has come to his mother's ex-client's defense.

Along with backing up Nicki, Flocka killed speculation suggesting she may be down with the Illuminati (devil worshipping).

"I ain't got no thoughts on that, that's bullsh*t. Honeslty, -- n*ggas just make up names 'cause they don't know people's business," Flocka said in an interview. A few days ago, Young Money's Lil Twist also stood up for Minaj.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue recently aired out the self-proclaimed Barbie's religious-themed set.

"Nicki Minaj, fresh off looking like a fool with Madonna at the Super Bowl, showed up last night (February 12) on the red carpet at the Grammys with a guy dressed like the pope. This was just a prelude of what was to come. Minaj's performance began on stage with a mock confessional skit. This was followed by a taped video depicting a mock exorcism. With stained glass in the background, she appeared on stage again with choir boys and monks dancing. Perhaps the most vulgar part was the sexual statement that showed a scantily clad female dancer stretching backwards while an altar boy knelt between her legs in prayer. Whitney Houston is the latest victim of a yet another conspiracy theory regarding the Illuminati. Houston's sudden death on Saturday has caused some to theorize that it was, in fact, murder at the hands of the Illuminati. Some even think this "sacrifice" was made so Beyonce and Jay-Z's baby, Blue Ivy, could live.

Back on Jan. 7, when Blue Ivy Carter was born, a rumor spread like wildfire that she was actually the spawn of Satan.  This theory alleges that Blue Ivy is a reworking of the name Eulb Yvi, which Twitter users and other conspiracy theorists allege is the name of Satan's daughter, though there has been no evidence to prove such a concept. "Jay-Z & Beyonce named their daughter Ivy Blue, Ivy Blue = Eulb Yvi, which was the name of lucifer's daughter in Latin!" Twitter user MrZou posted, perpetuating the story.

Another unbacked theory claims that numerology explains an occult or Illuminati connection between Blue Ivy Carter and Satanism. "Ivy (position in alphabet) - I=9 V=22 Y=25 - 2+2+2+5=11 - 11x9=99 - flip 99 round and add another 6 and you get 666 :O #Illuminati," tweeted @Merkzbeatbox. 

Now, Whitney Houston's death is being linked to both the Illuminati and Blue Ivy Carter.

Vice magazine, known for its satirical wit and caustic editorials, compiled the multiple conspiracy theories surrounding Houston's death--including numerology, murder and even Madonna.

Here are just some paraphrases of the theories laid out in painstaking detail on Vice's Web site:

The occult point to the numerology of Houston's passing. "Do you think its [sic] ironik [sic] she died in 2012 at the age of 48, 4 + 8 = 12!!! Illuminati like to do these sorts of things as a death ritual as they believe everything has to be done on a certain day," read one post in Vice's assemblage. Some are saying the 11th is an occult date, with other famous people like Bob Marley, Alexander McQueen and Sylvia Plath dying on that day. Nicki Minaj's outfit to the 2012 Grammys had a face embroidered on the skirt in black beads. Conspiracy theorists think this was Whitney Houston's. Blue Ivy needed a blood sacrifice.

Conspiracy Theories Abound

Conspiracy theories have circulated celebrity deaths since the dawn of time. Some believe Marilyn Monroe was murdered because of her affair with JFK. According to TruTV, Donald Wolfe summed it up as such:  "Marilyn Monroe was in a position to bring down the presidency. She was cognizant of Jack Kennedy's marital infidelities and other private matters. She had his notes and letters and was privy to Kennedy's involvement with Sam Giancana. That the Kennedy brothers had discussed national security matters with the film star added to an astonishing array of indiscretions."

Some believe Elvis Presley did not die, and actually faked his own death; that Princess Diana was murdered because of her relationship with Dodi Fayed; that Jesus married Mary Magdalene; that September 11th was planned; and that the Illuminati exist.

The list of conspiracies goes on and on. Where conspiracy theorists draw the line, particularly regarding the sensitive topic of death and tragedy, is unclear.

Celebslam.com created a list of the 20 craziest Whitney Houston death theories on Twitter. Such notions continue to circulate.

As for Vice magazine's coverage, executive editor Alex Miller had this to say to International Business Times: "I'm not claiming to know the ins and outs of the case, but these are questions that need to be asked. All I'm saying is that once evidence like this rears its head, its worth examining. Peace, death to NWO xxx."
