UK Online Gambling Gets More Complicated as EU Compliance is Scrapped – Casino.Org News

As the UK continues to transition away from its participation in the European Union (EU), the country is going through a significant period of financial turmoil. The decision to exit the EUs General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) program could spell more disaster, including for gaming operators.
The UKs new prime minister, Liz Truss, has decided that the country doesnt need the GDPR. Its an idea that has been circulating as long as talk of Brexit, but which is now apparently becoming a reality.
Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Michelle Donelan confirmed Tuesday that the UK will replace the EUs data privacy act with a new set of rules. This can only mean that gaming operators will have to contend with two systems, one for the EU and another for the UK.
The decision to dump the GDPR isnt a surprise the UK announced four months ago that something was in the works. The country will introduce its own data protection and digital information bill at some point, although its taking longer than the government initially hoped.
Although the UK has discussed creating its own rules for a couple of years, the overall concept remained aligned with the EUs guidelines. The EU signed off on the recommended proposals last year, though it said that it would be ready to pull back if the UK implemented too many changes.
I am announcing that we will be replacing GDPR with our own business and consumer-friendly, British data protection system. Our plan will protect consumer privacy and keep their data safe, whilst retaining our data adequacy so businesses can trade freely, Donelan said.
Donelan has tried to calm any concerns, explaining that the country can protect consumer data without far-reaching regulations. She stated that this is already done in countries like Japan and New Zealand, and that the UK will learn from those policies.
She also asserted that the move would make it easier for businesses to operate. However, this sentiment isnt shared by those businesses. UK companies that serve the EU will have to comply with two sets of rules.
The same applies to companies outside the UK. They have to implement solutions that can ensure adherence to both the GDPR and the UKs own solution. For many, this means double the expense related to consumer protection.
When the EU introduced the GDPR in 2016 it was hailed as one of the biggest achievements in modern history. Europe said at the time that the new rules would save billions of dollars in expenses. Introduction of the policy would also lead to efficient operations across the continent.
The data paints a different picture. Economists with Oxford University dove into the outcome of GDPR and what it meant for commercial activity earlier this year. What they found was that EU businesses lost on average 8.1% of their profits.
Small- and medium-sized enterprises lost 8.5%, while large companies lost around 7.9%. Even larger tech companies, like Google and Apple, saw no significant impacts from the implementation of the GDPR.
This doesnt instill confidence in the UKs latest effort. With inflation out of control and no fix in sight, the economy could potentially take another hit.
The good news is that, at least for now, the countrys version of the GDPR isnt moving forward. Just like new gambling regulations, theres an outside chance that nothing will change. The UK will hold new general elections in 18 months, which could usher in a new batch of political leaders.

My trip to Atlantic City was worth it even with no gambling – New Jersey 101.5 FM
Posted: at 1:21 pm
My wife and I spent the weekend in Atlantic City to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.
Neither of us is a gambler, so we went for the hotel experience and the boardwalk. The nasty weather put the kibosh on the boardwalk (thanks Ian), so went we mainly spent the trip visiting hotels.
The one we stayed in, the Ocean Casino Resort, was by far the nicest.
For one thing, at the Ocean, they believe in natural light. When we walked into the lobby, I was struck by how light and airy the tall ceiling and giant windows made the place feel. I was used to rather dark casinos, but the Ocean is different. When visiting other casinos during our trip, they just seemed older and darker.
Bill Doyle photo
The Ocean is easy to find; its the tallest building in Atlantic City (Im told its the fourth tallest building in the state). Our room was on the 40th floor facing the ocean, so we had a good view of the churning waves caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ian. The Ferris wheel on the Steel Pier is really cool looking at night when it is all lit up.

The casino floor bursts with color.
The Ocean lives up to its name as a resort given all the amenities it offers; there is a spa (complete with massages, sauna, facials, peels, and more). There is also a fully equipped fitness center (yes, I used it), and an indoor/outdoor pool (which I did not use).
The Ocean AC via Facebook
When its lit up, its visible for miles.
The restaurant selection is pretty impressive, too. Our favorite was Harpers, which only serves breakfast and lunch. Im not lying when I say they had the biggest breakfast portions Ive ever had.
I ordered assuming the portions would be small and when they brought the food to the table I realized that I had ordered too much. But I went ahead and ate it all.
My wife, who isnt as much of a pig as I am, got a doggy bag for her cinnamon roll that was about the size of her head (I exaggerate, but not by much).

All in all, even with the bad weather, we had a great trip to AC.

The 8 Best Things to Do in Las Vegas That Aren’t Gambling – Best Life
Posted: at 1:21 pm
Arguably, nowhere else in the world is as synonymous with gambling as Las Vegas. The city has sprung up from the desert as an oasis where travelers from around the world can come to try their hand at luck in world-class casinos that epitomize glitz and glamor. But while it may be fun to get into games, there's much more to the hedonistic paradise than rolling dice and stacking chips. Read on to see what experts say are the best things to do in Las Vegas that aren't gambling.
READ THIS NEXT: The 10 Best All-Inclusive Resorts in the U.S. for a Stress-Free Getaway.
Vegas is nothing if not over the top with everything it offers, whether it's dining, entertainment, or accommodations. Why should the city's art scene be any different?
"Area 15, located off the strip, is an immersive art and entertainment complex that houses popular attractions like Meow Wolf's mind-blowing Omega Mart, Dueling Axes, Todd English's magnificent restaurant The Beast, and so much more," says Casandra Karpiak, travel blogger and co-founder of Savoteur. "The main attraction is Omega Mart, an interactive grocery store with secret portals to an extraordinary immersive playground. You could spend an entire day exploring the spaceand it's a perfect place to beat the Las Vegas heat."
Legendary performers have turned Vegas into their home turf for decades with residencies and once-in-a-lifetime concerts. But it's not just concerts that are worth lining up for when you come for a visit.
"As the entertainment juggernaut on the Las Vegas Strip, Cirque du Soleil offers six amazing shows. And although you may have seen a touring Cirque show in your home city, those can't compare to their Vegas counterparts, which play in theaters especially designed for each one," David Yeskel, atravel journalistandLas Vegas expertknown as The Vegas Guru, tellsBest Life.
"My fave is KA at the MGM Granda larger-than-life tale of separated twins and their journey to reunite, played out on a dangerously-angled stage that must be seen to be believed," he says.

Some critics might argue that cities can only be considered great when their art offerings reach a certain level. And according to experts, Vegas comes in under the radar with its superb collections on display for all to enjoy.
"Visitors to the Aria Fine Art Collection get to enjoy a gorgeous outdoor gallery featuring pieces by leading contemporary artists while everyone else is gambling, partying, or shopping," says Jenny Ly, travel blogger and founder of Go Wanderly. "Best of all, it's a free, self-guided walk, so you may take as much time as you like on the trip. Those who wish to experience Las Vegas's cultural aspect, which many tourists overlook, should pay a visit. That cultural side also comes with a complete tour of CityCenter, which includes Aria, Veer Towers, Crystals at CityCenter, and Vdara."
Las Vegas is a playground that allows some of the most famous chefs in the world to bring their concepts to the city's esteemed properties. However, it's also a city that appreciates not wanting to miss out on too much of the action for the sake of eating, making it ground zero for buffetsand it has more than basically any other destination. But even if the idea of serving yourself may not seem appealing, experts point out that some notable operations elevate the concept to an entirely new level.
"Nowhere but in Las Vegas does the combination of quality and quantity apply to buffets, and the city naturally offers some over-the-top options," says Yeskel. "I try every buffet in Las Vegas, but my three favorites are truly gourmet experiences: The Buffet at Wynn, Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace, and The Buffet at Bellagio."
"They're not cheap: dinner will set you back from $65 to $80," he warns. "But if you like quality meats, seafood, sushi, and a variety of sinful desserts, these spreads are the ticket."

Vegas' fast pace and constant reinvention can make it feel like it lives somewhere in the future. But locals know that the city has a unique history worth exploring at some of its major museums.ae0fcc31ae342fd3a1346ebb1f342fcb
Of course, there's some focus on the bright lights that helped turn Vegas into the iconic destination it is today. "Open 7-days a week, the Neon Boneyard is part of the Neon Museum, founded in 1996," Chanin Victor, professional travel writer and born-and-raised Las Vegas native, tells Best Life. "There, you'll find over 250 unrestored signs from the Las Vegas era I grew up in. Some of the signs are still working and are on, while others are illuminated with lights. All the signs are available for personal and commercial shoots, but it's really funand nostalgicto walk through this little slice of Vegas history."
And while Vegas may have cleaned up its act today, the city's seedy history of organized crime can't be overlooked when exploring local lore. "The Mob Museum is an incredible experience and one that is distinctly unique to Las Vegas," Michelle Snell, travel writer and owner of That Texas Couple, tells Best Life. "In addition to the awesome stories you'll experience throughout the museum, just being in the building is an amazing experience. It was once the U.S. Post Office and Courthouse that was the site of the famous Kefauver hearings." She adds that the museum provides a hands-on way to experience historyincluding a Prohibition-era speakeasy for visitors in the basement.
The pace and energy of Las Vegas make it a place where the hands on a clock become irrelevant. But, of course, this is part of the appeal for those who come for a seriously good time. Experts say that unlike in other cities, some of the best parties hit full swing when the sun is still high in the sky.
"When Las Vegas nightclub operators realized that the party doesn't have to end at daybreak, Vegas dayclubs were born," Yeskel tells Best Life. "Featuring celebrity DJs, live music acts, bottle service, luxury cabanas, and hundredsif not thousandsof bodies in and around the pool, Sin City's outdoor parties run roughly from April through October. Entry fees and minimum spends vary, but they're rarely cost-prohibitive. My current go-to's are Drai's at the Cromwell, TAO Beach at the Venetian, and Marquee Dayclub at the Cosmopolitan."

A trip to Vegas doesn't only have to involve dining out and celebrating to excess. It can also be an opportunity to explore some of the area's stunning natural beauty, especially at places like Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
"Visitors can drive along a 13-mile route and see sweeping views of the desert landscape," Kristin Lee, travel expert author of the travel blog Global Travel Escapades, tells Best Life. "There are also tons of hiking trails suitable for all levels. And, of course, for any rock climbers, Red Rock Canyon is absolute heaven as Red Rock is world renown for its abundance of climbing routes that accommodate all climbing styles."
It's also a great place to get a completely different kind of Vegas light show. "If people want to see thousands of more stars lighting up the night sky, they can camp overnight at the designated campground," she suggests.
If there's one thing Las Vegas has more of than casinos, it's lights. But that's no reason to skip over some of the most dazzling displays in town.
"The Fremont Street Experience, a huge canopy with more than 12 million lights, is located on the historic Las Vegas Strip on Fremont Street," Anthony Presti, travel writer and owner of ValueQuack, tells Best Life. "For the best time, visit between twilight and midnight, when light shows occur every hour."
"There, you'll find pubs, restaurants, live music, and street performers beneath the canopy. When it has cooled off at night, head there for free concerts and a great time for the whole family," he suggests.

New Gambling Regulations Arrive in Galicia, Spain – Casino.Org News
Posted: at 1:21 pm
Posted on: October 3, 2022, 08:18h.
Last updated on: October 3, 2022, 01:45h.
Spains gambling industry continues to evolve in order to respond to new challenges. With most autonomous communities introducing updated legislation, Galicia has added its name to the list.
Galicias Council has approved a new restrictive bill that will limit the number of betting establishments and machines per location. The new President of Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, reported that the Council of the Board gave the go-ahead to approve the bill, which will limit the growth of gambling in the region.
At a press conference, Rueda explained that the project seeks to guarantee responsible gaming and take care of the most vulnerable people. He also explained that the previous regulations had been in place for over three decades, and that it was time for a change.
The new legislation will allow two casinos, 12 bingo halls, 118 gaming parlors, and 41 betting shops. In total, there will be a maximum of 175 gambling establishments in Galicia. Currently, there are 40 betting shops, two casinos, 11 bingo halls, and 115 gaming parlors.
In addition, the legislation prohibits granting loans or credits to gamblers. The use of bonuses, free games, or any element that can be exchanged for money is not allowed, either. For their part, Galicias municipalities may apply other limitations and additional restrictions regarding the opening of gambling establishments.
There will also be new limitations on gaming machines in bars, restaurants, and leisure establishments. Each can only operate a maximum of two. Likewise, Galicia has set a maximum of 3,600 authorizations for betting machines in other hospitality locations.
There is also a 12,000-unit limit on Type B gaming machines, which mostly covers slot machines. All gaming devices outside of casinos will also need to include mechanisms to prevent gameplay by minors.
Gambling establishments must be at least 300 meters (984 feet) from education and addiction centers. They must also be the same distance from other gambling locations.
There are new fines that will be in place, as well. They start at 100 (US$97) and can go as high as 100,000 (US$97,580). The government will review the scale to ensure that the fine, if necessary, is greater than not complying with the regulations.
Gambling companies will have two years to become compliant with all of the new regulations.
Andalusia, Madrid, Valencia, and other Spanish communities all introduced new gambling laws this year. Most recently, just prior to Galicia, Catalonia became part of the group, as well.
The new regulations ensure that the maximum number of bingo halls will remain at 75. Throughout the community, pending final approval, only four casinos are allowed. In Vila-seca and Salou, two popular tourist destinations, the government may approve additional gambling facilities.
Across Catalonia, there can only be up to a maximum of 127 gaming arcades. There will also be a new definition of what constitutes a gambling facility, but this still needs approval.

RGC and ThinkTV join forces to launch safer gambling PSA in Ontario – Gambling Insider

Canadas Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) has collaborated on a new campaign to encourage Ontarian bettors to wager responsibly. By Gambling Insider
Canadas Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) has collaborated on a new campaign to encourage Ontarian bettors to wager responsibly.
Alongside marketing and research association ThinkTV, the RGC has developed a new initiative set to hit television and radio waves in the coming weeks.
This will endeavour to educate Canadians about the possible risks associated with gambling, and focus on betting in particular.
Ontarios iGaming market went live in April, as did single-event sports betting, and the RGCs messaging is primarily intended for Ontarians.
To this end, the campaign supposedly taps into the look and feel Ontarians now associate with online gambling ads. The RGC published a 30-second video on YouTube in a parody of stereotypical betting ads, but halfway through, things take a turn.
An actor directly addresses the audience, imploring viewers to wager responsibly, before directing them to KnowTheRisk.ca.
With the rise of online gambling and sports betting advertising in Ontario and across Canada we recognized there was a need to help the public understand the sensationalised ads were seeing on TV dont necessarily reflect reality, said Shelley White, RGC Chief Executive.
It is important for everyone to learn and understand the risks involved when gambling in the online space and how to minimise those risks when playing online.
Via ThinkTV, this public service announcement (PSA) will run across Canadian broadcast networks in Ontario, though it may be later expanded to other provinces.
Alan Dark, ThinkTV Chairman, expressed a similar sentiment to White, adding: There is an opportunity for us all to work together to ensure Ontarians receive a balanced message when it comes to online gambling and sports betting.
The broadcast community plays an important role in shaping the gambling advertising landscape, and we are proud to be leading the charge in a responsible way to meet the needs of the industry and the public.

How Gambling with your choice of music can improve your life – Contactmusic.com

Gambling with your choice of music can have a number of benefits, from improving your mood to helping you focus.
If youre feeling down, gambling on some upbeat music can help raise your spirits. Studies have shown that listening to happy music can increase levels of dopamine, the feel-good hormone.
On the other hand, if you need to focus on a task, gambling on some classical music can help you concentration. The slow and steady tempo of classical tunes has been shown to boost productivity and reduce stress levels.
So next time youre looking for a little pick-me-up or need to get some work done, consider gambling on your music selection!
There's no doubt that music can have a powerful effect on our moods. But did you know that gambling with music can actually improve your mood?
Studies have shown that gambling with music can increase levels of dopamine in the brain, which is associated with positive emotions like happiness and pleasure. So next time you're feeling down, checkthese casinos try putting on some upbeat tunes and hitting the slots!
There is no definitive answer to this question, as everyone experiences music differently and what may be conducive to gambling for one person may not have the same effect on another. However, some research suggests that certain tempos or speeds of music may be more likely to result in gambling behavior. For instance, one study found that people were more likely to gamble when listening to faster-paced music, while another study found that people were more likely to take risks when listening to slower-paced music. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to experiment with different types of music to see what has the most positive effect on their gambling behavior.

Some people find that music helps themconcentrateand get into a flow state, while others find that it distracts them from the task at hand. Could a gambling brand become the next Super Bowl sponsor? – Franchise Sports

The Super Bowl is Americas favorite sporting event. Countless fans flock to the stadium or stay glued to the TV screens to catch a glimpse of the action or watch their favorite players. The event has turned into an extravaganza, with billions of dollars spent on ads and sponsorships.
Top names in the industry like Pepsi and Apple have been Super Bowl sponsors and with the recent popularity of real money slots and sports betting brands in the USA, can a gambling brand become the next super bowl sponsor?
Lets explore more on the topic.
The Super Bowl is the final event of every NFL season. Since 1966, several teams have tried to become champions in this highly-watched sporting event. The list includes Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, and more.
The excitement for the Super Bowl starts much before the event is held in February. Teams try to stand out in the leagues to be able to get a spot in the final tournament. The action begins in high school and continues as top players show their talents on the field.
The Super Bowl attracts a large number of fans both locally and internationally with a higher number of people following the matches on TV in their homes.
Naturally, several brands try to become Super Bowl sponsors to gain more exposure. They want to be associated with the game to become memorable. The goal is to stir the emotional quotient to increase visibility and brand awareness.
However, can a gambling company sponsor the next Super Bowl?
Sports betting has become a favorite pastime for a lot of people around the world. The industry is predicted to reach $37 billion by 2025, indicating its growing popularity.
The NFL was not in favor of sports betting or gambling in the past. It had also sued the jurisdiction of New Jersey for allowing sports betting in 2021. However, things began to change recently as sports betting started getting popular, legal, and regulated in several states. The NFL realized the benefits it could get by signing up sponsorship deals with gambling brands.
In 2021, the NFL signed sponsorship deals worth millions of dollars with three popular gambling brands Caesars, FanDuel, and DraftKings. These three brands contract value for five years amounts to a little lower than $1 billion.
Additionally, other sponsors like BetMGM, Fox Bet, and WynnBET signed up as secondary sponsors.
Moreover, the NFL has gambling sponsors from other parts of the world. For example, Betrics is the exclusive Latin sponsor for the Super Bowl.
So, it is pretty common for gambling companies to become NFL sponsors. It is happening in the present, and more gambling brands are expected to line up to be sponsors in the future.
Gambling brands are already taking minor roles in sponsoring the Super Bowl. The NFL recognized the growth of sports betting and allowed gambling brands to come abroad. They have signed contracts worth millions and will continue sponsoring the game for years.
So, a gambling brand can surely become one of the main Super Bowl sponsors for the next seasons.

It is war against illegal gambling operations – Khmer Times
Posted: October 2, 2022 at 4:50 pm
Police have cracked down on more than 9,000 illegal gambling dens and arrested 13,000 people across the country since the clampdown was initiated by the government.
Some of the people detained were schooled on the negative and social impacts of gambling while others were sent to court to face legal action.
Sok Phal, secretary of state of the Ministry of Interior and chairman of the task force to suppress illegal gambling, said crackdowns on gambling throughout the country started on September 15.
He said 12,786 people were advised about the ills of gambling and 246 were sent to court.
Phal said authorities will continue to take strict action in their crackdowns on illegal gambling in villages, communes and districts.
Phal added that intense action against illegal gambling dens will be carried out until July 1 next year.
He said authorities will actively seek out illegal gambling masterminds and those who continue to violate the law and instructions of the local authorities.
Banteay Meanchey Information Department director Sek Sokhom said 80 dens in the province have been raided.
He said after receiving instructions from the government, provincial, district and commune authorities started concerted efforts against illegal gambling dens.
We have observed that illegal gambling has reduced and it has ceased in most of the places that have been raided.
We will continue with our crackdowns until all illegal gambling activities have been stopped.
In Oddar Meanchey province, deputy governor Dy Rado said some illegal gambling dens have closed voluntarily when they heard that the government is going all out to arrest them.
Illegal gambling offences in Oddar Meanchey province have come down and people appear to be following the instructions of the authorities.
We will continue to take action and monitor those who have closed down to see if they start operations again.
We will immediately act against them if they do, he said.
Takeo deputy governor Ly Saveth said about 800 gambling sites were raided and the gamblers were educated.
Relevant authorities have been told to monitor the back of peoples houses and cafes to stop illegal gambling, he said.
On September 14, Minister of Interior Sar Kheng appointed Phal to lead a working group to crack down on illegal gambling in the country.

Twitch gambling ban announced for certain content following streamer theft – Top Class Actions
Posted: at 4:50 pm
Twitch gambing ban overview:
Twitch announced that it will ban certain gambling content from appearing on its live-streaming service, including gambling websites that have slots, roulette or dice games that arent licensed in the United States
The policy update will take place on Oct. 18 and is being made following an effort by some people to circumvent rules currently in place regarding gambling content to expose our community to potential harm, according to Twitch.
The company, which is owned by Amazon.com, enacted the Twitch gambling ban amidst a slew of criticism from some of its top streamers who had been threatening to leave the platform if it didnt change its gambling stream policy, CNBC reports.
The reported boycott threat came after a streamer with the moniker Sliker allegedly misled viewers and other streamers who gave him as much as $200,000 to gamble with, Kotaku reports.
Twitch, which already prohibits link or referral code sharing from sites featuring slots, roulette or dice games, says that the streaming of gambling websites Rollbit.com, Stake.com, Duelbits.com and Roobets.com will no longer be allowed on the platform.
Streamers will still be able to host streams of websites that focus on sports betting, poker and fantasy sports, however, according to Twitch.
Gambling content on Twitch has been a big topic of discussion in the community and something weve been actively reviewing since our last policy update in this area, Twitch says in a statement posted to Twitter.
Last October, Twitch announced that it suffered a major data breach that led to an anonymous hacker posting 125gb of its data, including source code, to the anonymous online image board website 4chan.
