Trainwrecks reveals why hes thinking about ending his Twitch gambling streams – Dexerto
Posted: August 9, 2021 at 8:59 am
Despite being one of the most prominent gambling streamers on Twitch, Tyler Trainwrecks Niknam revealed that hes thinking about slowing down and maybe even stopping once and for all.
Even though hes lost a significant amount of money and been subject to criticism from other content creators like Ethan Klein, Hasan HasanAbi Piker, Imane Pokimane Anys,Trainwrecks has been one of the biggest proponents of gambling streams on Twitch.
Although he urged people not to gamble, he asked them to watch him do it instead and has defended his gambling streams multiple times. Heclapped back at those who criticized him numerous times and even claimedhis gambling streams are the most transparent ones on the platform.
However, it seems like hes softened his stance and is considering slowing down and maybe even quitting after realizing that gambling the amounts he does in front of others makes him feel weird and uncomfortable.
Im getting to a point where even though I do give away a lot of my money to charity and people, its still getting weird *publicly* gambling the amounts that I do, he said. It feels uncomfortable low key, but hopefully, I get a big W today so I can slow the f**k down.
In a separate message written a day earlier, Trainwrecks also claimed his luck has been so f**king bad, and he cant tell if hes being a sore loser with conspiracy theories in his head or getting robbed by the providers.
Either way, it seems like Trainwrecks is getting a bit burnt out from all the gambling streams. Maybe some of the criticism is getting to him, too.
Considering he claimed his last stream would be the last one if he lost, and now hes expressed a desire to slow down and potentially quit, perhaps hes ready to move on once and for all.

State Rep. Lawrence: Shutting Lowndes County out of gambling bill ‘a bad thing’ ‘We’re just asking for parity’ – Yellowhammer News

For over a year I have been touting the fact that the 2022 election year in the Heart of Dixie was going to be the busiest and most monumental in history. Folks, it looks like it is not going to be as eventful as anticipated. Yes, everything is on the ballot, but the power of incumbency is thwarting the drama. It appears the U.S. Senate race is going to be the marquee event.
Most states have their big election years in the same year as the presidential contest. Not so in Alabama. Our carte blanche election year is in between presidential elections in what is referred to nationally as off years.
All our constitutional officers are on the ballot next year as well as all 105 state house seats, 35 state senate seats, all 67 sheriffs, all state school board members, along with all seven of our congressional seats.
Historically, the biggest race in Alabama is governor. In fact, throughout history, the governors race year has been the largest turnout year in Alabama. That is probably because it was not until the 1970s that could a governor succeed themselves. Therefore, there was an open governors race every four years.
586
The inherent advantage of incumbency has cut down on the every four years gubernatorial circus and theater. This incumbency advantage is playing out to the nines as we head towards next years May 24 Election Day.
All four of our top-tier constitutional offices are held by popular incumbents and all four are running for reelection virtually unopposed. All of our statewide elected offices are held by Republicans. A Democrat cannot win a statewide race in Alabama. They can get 40% but that appears to be the ultimate threshold. Therefore, winning the May 24 GOP primary is tantamount to election.
Governor Kay Ivey is the prohibitive favorite to win a full second term next year. She has done a good job as governor despite the gigantic obstacles of having to fight through a once-in-a-lifetime COVID pandemic, which completely shut down the worlds economy for over 15 months. She did a good job of steadying the ship of state during the crisis.
It was thought and even anticipated that Kay Ivey would run for only one four-year term when she was elected in 2018. She, herself, probably thought she might only run one time because, coupled with her serving as governor the last two years of Robert Bentleys tenure, would give her a six-year reign. That mindset of striving to govern for four years rather than run for reelection has made her a successful governor. Kay has rolled up her sleeves and tackled the job and diligently governed. She has gubernatorially addressed many of the problems that have plagued the state and been swept under the rug or kicked down the road for decades. Addressing the problems of repairing the states roads and infrastructure and the prison problems has not been an exciting agenda, but she has been a workhorse governor rather than a showhorse governor.
She will coast to reelection. It would be difficult for a candidate to run negative ads against your grandmother. The only thing that could prevent Kay Ivey from serving another term is if she changes her mind. She relies a lot on her chief of staff, former Mobile/Baldwin Congressman, Jo Bonner. There is speculation that Bonner may accept the position of president of the University of South Alabama. Gov. Ivey would very much miss her little brother from Wilcox. However, she has a brilliant and loyal youthful staff that have been with her all four-years. She will probably stay the course and be reelected.
Speaking of youthful, our young Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth is poised to win reelection to a second four-year term essentially unopposed. He is waiting in the wings, ready to run for governor.
Attorney General Steve Marshall is also going to coast to reelection with only token or no opposition. Marshall has tackled his job well and diligently over his first four-year term. He, like Ivey, has strived to delve into his job rather than politick full time. He has staked out a position as being a bona fide conservative Alabama Republican.
Rick Pate has done an excellent job as Alabama Agriculture Commissioner and will deservedly win a second four-year term as the head of this important constitutional office. He is perfectly suited and qualified for this job.
So, folks, it looks like it may be a dull year. However, dont fret, we have 67 local sheriff races and all 140 legislative seats all running under new lines.
Steve Flowers is Alabamas leading political columnist. His weekly column appears in over 60 Alabama newspapers. He served 16 years in the state legislature. Steve may be reached at http://www.steveflowers.us.

New gambling laws combatting addiction to be backed by UK ministers – Gambling Insider – In-depth Analysis for the Gaming Industry
Posted: at 8:59 am
A new gambling consumer ombudsman and a ban on sports shirt sponsorship are set to be backed by ministers, the Daily Mail reports.
An official review will also ban "VIP" schemes, which hand out cash bonuses and rewards to players with heavy gambling losses.
No stake limit online slot games will be cut to 2 ($2.77) per spin, while hundreds of high street betting shops will be closed.
"Binge gambling" will also be tackled with new limits to keep betting affordable.
A consultation was closed in March with 16,000 responses and ministers are expected to announce proposals in a White Paper later this year.
The UK is said to have 400,000 gambling addicts, including 55,000 children, although the source of this figure came from a very questionable Gambling Commission report.
More than two million people are at risk of becoming victims of gambling addiction, according to previous research.
MPs and campaigners have set their sights on what they call the "wild west" online sector, following the passing of a 2 maximum stake on fixed odd betting terminals (FOBTs), although the actual impact of this rule on problem gambling has been questionable at best.
"The Gambling-Act is an analogue act for the digital age designed two years before smartphones. Now the majority of gambling is online and on phones," Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden told the Mail.
"You essentially have a betting shop in your pocket. I think it's right that we look at regulations."

Here’s how the NHL investigates gambling allegations – KTVU San Francisco
Posted: at 8:59 am
San Jose Sharks Evander Kane accused of betting on his own games
Evander Kane's wife, Ana, made the claims against her husband on social media over the weekend. The NHL player responded in his own post, denying this ever happened.
Allegations from his estranged wife that Evander Kane bet on hockey games, including his own, and tried to lose for profit have sparked an NHL investigation into the San Jose Sharks forward's gambling activities.
Just what the league will find and how quickly is anyone's guess.
If the investigation reveals Kane bet against his own team, those are uncharted waters for a league that has signed more than a half dozen partnerships with sportsbooks, data providers and other gambling-related entities since the Supreme Court cleared the way for legalized sports betting in 2018.
Q: WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS CASE?
On social media, Anna Kane wrote: "How does the NHL let a compulsive gambling addict still play when hes obviously throwing games to win money?" and "Can someone ask (Commissioner) Gary Bettman how they let a player gamble on his own games? Bet and win with bookies on his own games?" Kane vehemently denied the allegations and said he would be cleared of any wrongdoing.
Q: WHAT IS THE POTENTIAL PUNISHMENT?
The gambling case familiar to most U.S. sports fans is that of Pete Rose, who was banned from Major League Baseball for life. The NHL does have gambling scandals in its history, though it has been a while.
NHL coach Rick Tocchet in May 2007 pleaded guilty to conspiracy and promoting gambling and was put on probation for two years for his role in an illegal gambling ring caught by the "Operation Slapshot" undercover police operation while working as an Arizona Coyotes assistant. He was allowed to return to the NHL the following February on the condition he refrained from gambling.
Boston players Don Gallinger and Billy Taylor were banned in 1948 for betting on the Bruins and reinstated in 1970. Walter Pratt was banned for nine games for betting on games, but he wound up in the Hall of Fame.
Q: WHAT IS THE NHL POLICY ON GAMBLING?
The collective bargaining agreement includes this sentence: "Gambling on any NHL Game is prohibited." This is a fairly common stance for professional leagues, including the NFL, which suspended Josh Shaw for the rest of 2019 and all of 2020 for betting on other games around the league. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell at the time said: "If you work in the NFL in any capacity, you may not bet on NFL football."
NHL teams can go as far as prohibiting employees from hockey operations to the business side from even joining fantasy leagues for money. There is the question of what falls under gambling, given the variety of full-season and daily fantasy gaming options.
"It absolutely has to be expanded beyond this one line," US Bets sports betting analyst Chris Altruda said of the NHL policy. "Theres a wide latitude of what a player conceivably can and cannot do to that end."
Altruda and other experts wondered if leagues will expand to preventing players from betting on any sport. Declan Hill, a professor at the University of New Haven who has written extensively about match fixing and corruption, takes it one step further.
"Part of the price of being a professional athlete should be: You're not allowed to gamble," Hill said, referring to any sport and casino wagering. "Thats going to be immensely difficult but, its one of those things that have to be done because Ive seen the credibility of sports destroyed around the world."
Q: WHAT GOES INTO AN INVESTIGATION?
The first step, Hill said, is finding out where a player is placing bets.
"Most of the action is handled by illegal sportsbooks," he said. "Get into that and get them knowing that and make sure that the player produces his phone records and his payments, so you can see where the money is going in and out and you can see where the payments are coming from."
That's easier said than done, but leagues are not alone in conducting these types of investigations.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy, while declining to detail the league's playbook on investigating, said, "We have a robust monitoring and information network with multiple sources of information and substantial resources to ensure compliance with our policies and to detect and investigate improper activity." That has included security representatives in Nevada for decades and now nationwide.
Q: WHO DOES THE ACTUAL INVESTIGATING?
Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said NHL officials "have a number of third-party resources that we regularly employ to monitor betting activities on our games. I expect those resources will be utilized as part and parcel of the overall investigation" of Kane.
SportRadar is the NHL's "integrity services provider," and there are other companies in that space, including Genius Sports and US Integrity. In tennis, where match-fixing and betting irregularities came to light in the past two decades, an independent integrity unit was formed to flag suspicious patterns and dole out punishments.
Like the International Tennis Integrity Agency, the NHL has agreements that in selling data to legal sportsbooks, there could be an obligation to cooperate with investigations and hand over records beyond privacy laws that are stricter in Europe than North America.
Several experts said if an athlete does all of their betting illegally or with an off-shore outlet, it could be significantly more difficult to find proof. A whistleblower could help in that department, and integrity companies often have contacts at so-called "gray market" betting outlets who could provide information.
Q: HOW OFTEN ARE INVESTIGATIONS ONGOING?
Probably more often than you think.
Seth Palansky, vice president of corporate and social responsibility at Conscious Gaming who also has worked for the NFL and Caesars Entertainment, said there are currently three insider betting investigations going on in three different jurisdictions nothing to do with Kane.
As recently as this year, Russian tennis player Yana Sizikova was arrested in Paris on suspicion of match-fixing at the 2020 French Open. The NFL investigated and punished Shaw in 2019.
NBA referee Tim Donaghy pleaded guilty in 2008 to wire fraud and transmitting betting information for taking thousands of dollars from a gambler for inside tips on games, including games he worked. He was sentenced to 15 months behind bars.
Q: WHAT MORE CAN BE DONE?
McCarthy said preventative measures are the start of the NFLs efforts and Joe Bertolone, executive director of the International Center for Gaming Regulation at UNLV, believes education is the biggest key.
"Making sure that athletes understand what it is thats really going on in sport betting is hugely critical," Bertolone said. "Is it 50% of the puzzle? Is it 75% of the puzzle? I dont know. But what I do know is that when someone is smarter about something, theyre going to be able to prevent a lot of problems down the road."
Palansky's Conscious Gaming wants to take monitoring and enforcement to another level. If a league contracts with the company, it can provide the names and information of anyone who should be prevented from gambling on a given sport from placing any bets with the sportsbooks that also opt in.
"Our technology works to follow the policies of the league," Palansky said. "In Evander Kanes case, he would be able to log on. And if he wants to place a bet on Olympic track and field, he could do that. But if he tries to make a bet on hockey, he couldnt."

Gladys Knight’s Illustrious Career Was Once Marred by Gambling Addiction & Teenage Pregnancy Her Painful Past – AmoMama

Gladys Knight is a highly decorated singer throughout her career. However, her remarkable career was accompanied by a tragic story that some people were unaware of.
Gladys Knight had numerous hits in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s with her group Gladys Knight & the Pips. Unlike some of her contemporaries, Knight has never been known to throw a tantrum or fly off the handle.
As early as the age of four, Knight performed her first recital in front of the congregation at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Atlanta. However, she would have preferred making mud pies or climbing trees.
HER HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Knight competed in "Ted Mack's Amateur Hour" competition by her mother's idea and took home the $2,000 prize. The fact that Knight was just seven at the time indicates that she had already excelled at music from an early age.
After a year, Knight, her brother Bubba, sister Brenda, and two cousins, William and Elenor Guest, formed the Pips. Throughout the South, they sang at various venues. But the group's road to success wasn't smooth.
While racism was still rampant in the region in the late 1950s and early '60s, the young talents had to endure terrible hardship. However, the group did not give in to the ridicule they received from racists.
FAME AND SUCCESS
In 1959, the Pips were reconstituted following the departure of Knight's sister Brenda and cousin Elenor. Edward Patten, their distant cousin, replaced them. Later, the group was renamed Gladys Knight & the Pips.
During that time, the group achieved great success. They enjoyed 10 No. 1 R&B hits, won three Grammys, and performed countless routines during its 30-year existence. Knight went solo after the group broke up in 1989.
HEARTWRENCHING PAST
Knightgained a lot of glories, but shesuffered a great deal of pain as well. At15, she escaped an attempted rape at home. When she was 16, she married herboyfriend, James Newman, because of a pregnancy.
Unfortunately, Knight miscarried the baby in a hotel room while on tour. Meanwhile, due to her husband's abuse of drugs, the marriage disintegrated, and she believed it ultimately led to his death around the mid-1970s.
Knight had a brief second marriage to Barry Hankerson. But her son, Shanga, developed an eating disorder throughout the prolonged divorce. The star is the momof threechildren, of whom two are from her first marriage.
During the late 1970s, Knight became addicted to gambling, winning and losing thousands of dollars a night. In an interview, she described how she became involved in gambling while playing casino games. Knight said:
"One day a friend said, 'Do you want to play some blackjack?' So I played and enjoyed it. You think you can win everything but you won't."
Knight came to the realization that she had hit a low point when she realized that morning had arrived, and she should have been preparing for her son's school day. The star had a rude awakening.
Later, Knight gave a call to Gamblers Anonymous. They provided assistance to her, whence her recovery began. The legendary singer credited the divine intervention for her quick recovery.
Les Brown was Knight's third husband. In 1995, they were married, but two years later, they divorced. When Knight married her husband, William McDowell, in 2001, the star found a love that would last.
AN OUTSTANDING MUSICIAN
Knight was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2011, the musician was both honoring and being honored. First, at a tribute concert to Michael Jackson, followed by the 2011 Soul Train Awards.
Knight performed at a concert event called "Michael Forever" at Cardiff's Millenium Stadium with several singers, including Jennifer Hudson, Beyonc, and Smokey Robinson, in honor of the late King of Pop.
After that, Knight was presented with a "Legend Award" along with fellow recipients Earth, Wind & Fire at the BET broadcast of the 3rd annual Soul Train Awards, emceed by Cedric the Entertainer.
