Podcast: What Did COVID-19 Do To Generation Z? – The Federalist
Posted: April 29, 2021 at 12:43 pm
On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, Young Americas Foundation spokeswoman Kara Zupkus joins Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky to discuss how the last year of government-mandated lockdowns and COVID-19 mitigation techniques have affected people in Generation Z.
I think theyre absolutely more addicted to social media now they literally live on social media because they couldnt go outside during quarantine, Zupkus said. Social interaction is definitely going to be something that we need to look for going back this coming fall. Seeing if students are willing to go to these student org events, go out to different events happening on campus.
Academics and critical thinking, Zupkus said, are also at risk due to the amount of time Gen Z spent on electronic devices since the pandemic began.
Its absolutely going to affect critical thinking, specifically, when students are writing papers, if they have to have an opinion on something, theyre like, I dont really know what my opinion is or what the right opinion is. Let me Google what other people have written about this and they have a whole plethora, a whole library of entires papers written on that topic their opinions arent their own opinions.

Poll: Half Of American Voters Think Kamala Harris Is Unqualified To Assume The Presidency – The Federalist
Posted: at 12:43 pm
A new poll suggests Americans maintain minimal confidence in the leadership capabilities of Vice President Kamala Harris, and view her as unqualified to take over the responsibilities of the president.
The Rasmussen poll released on Monday found 41 percent of respondents view Harris as not at all qualified to be president, and nine percent of respondents said Harris is not very qualified. 1,000 likely voters were polled.
Among Republicans, 74 percent polled said Harris is unqualified to be commander-in-chief. Independents also showed distrust in the vice presidents abilities to potentially step up to the plate, with 48 percent saying Harris is not at all qualified and 12 percent saying Harris is not very qualified. A slimmer number of Democrats said the same with 18 percent saying she is unqualified and 15 percent saying she is not at all qualified.
Harris scored high marks with three demographics: blacks, individuals under 40, and elites making $200,000 or more a year; 62 percent of blacks, 64 percent of those under 40, and 54 percent of the high-earners view Harris as favorable. On the flip-side, 55 percent of those 65 and older held an unfavorable view of Harris, in addition to 42 percent of white voters, and a majority of middle-income voters.
The survey asked the following questions:
Interestingly, a Rasmussen poll last August found that 59 percent of voters, as well as 49 percent of Democrats, did not think President Biden would serve a full four years if elected. Biden, 78, is the oldest president to assume office in U.S. history.

White House Declares Everything A ‘Crisis’ Except The One At The Border – The Federalist
Posted: at 12:43 pm
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki walked back President Joe Bidens comments last week claiming the number of unaccompanied minors crossing the border is a crisis. Psaki said, The president does not feel that children coming to our border seeking refuge from violence, economic hardships, and other dire circumstances is a crisis.
The Biden administration has continually refused to acknowledge that significantly higher numbers of migrants coming to the United States constitutes a threat or surge, but has swiftly characterized numerous other things as crises. For starters, there isan immigration crisis ensuing in America.
More than 172,000 migrants were encountered at the border in March alone, compared to a little more than 34,000 migrants encountered in March 2020. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas noted in March that the United States remains on track to encounter more illegals than in the last 20 years. Recent Customs and Border Patrol Protection data shared with Fox News showed the Del Rio Sector encountering 434 percent more migrants than in fiscal-year 2020, and Rio Grande Valley Sector encountering 313 percent more.
This month, a document obtained by the Washington Examiner showed the Biden administration is spending close to $352 a night to provide beds to an estimated 80,000 migrant families until September. The effort is part of an $87 million contract awarded to Family Endeavors, a San Antonio, Texas organization led by a former senior official on the Biden transition team, Andrew Lorenzen-Strait. Illegals need no documentation to be released into the United States after their three-night stay, which is complete with amenities.
Vice President Kamala Harris is meeting digitally with top Mexican officials and President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador next month. The administrations response and messaging pales in comparison to the White Houses centralization of other issues of far less (or no) importance to the American people.
Psaki walked back Bidens prior claim about the border being a crisis by suggesting the president had been referring to Central America.
He does feel that the crisis in Central America, the dire circumstances that many are fleeing from, that that is a situation that we need to spend our time, our effort on and we need to address it if were going to prevent more of an influx of migrants from coming in years to come, she said.
In other words, Biden will not acknowledge that his policies (such as the elimination of Remain in Mexico) are directly contributing to the problems transpiring in Central America where drug cartels smuggle minors to the border and often rape them along the way. The White House is viewing the effect, while refusing to acknowledge the causation.
Biden rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement on day one of his presidency. The Heritage Foundation found U.S. participation in that agreement will cost the average American family of four $20,000 and the GDP $2.5 trillion by 2035. The coalition calls for eliminating pivotal natural resources, like natural gas and coal, that power 80 percent of the globe.
From the beginning, Biden used the term crisis about climate. His executive order signed in January was titled Executive Order on Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad and claimed the Climate Crises must be at the center of United States foreign policy and national security.
Regardless of the claim peddled by the supposed experts in a 2019 United Nations report, climate change is not a crisis, nor will lead to mass extinction of humans. As publisher of ClimateDepot.com Marc Morano notes in his new book Green Fraud, [g]lobal temperatures have been holding nearly steady for almost two decades, according to satellites from the Remote Sensing Systems (RSS) and the University of Alabama at Huntsville. In addition, studies have found the Medieval Warm Period and the Roman Warming Period were as warm or warmer than current temperatures.
Morano highlights the clear facts in his book, which are that data is far more than scanty on this supposed climate crisis, but worse that the Left has manufactured a crisis due to its interests in depopulation, globalism, and sticking to alarmism favoring security like in the implementation of COVID-19 lockdowns. The environment is not exactly the first thing that comes to mind in terms of crises. The border does, though.
Psaki told Yahoo News journalist Julia Munslow last week, Theres no question its a public health emergency, when referring to the supposed need for gun control policies.
Its a public health crisis You know, I think the reason that the president feels its so important to move forward with gun reform measures, with gun safety measures is because of the trauma that hes seeing, she said. Theres no reason anyone needs to have an assault weapon. Theres no reason that there shouldnt be universal background checks to ensure guns dont get in the hands of people who should not have those guns.
Once more, a Democrat administration ignores truth in light of anti-constitutionalist agendas. Many might remember a significant Department of Justice report in 2019 found 90 percent of firearms used in crime are obtained through illegal means. But this only further backed up the reality that people legally bearing arms is no crisis to a functioning republic. But a government seeking to illegitimately violate this right might constitute a crisis.
The White House is correct about the law and order issue. If Biden truly cared about public safety, though, he would condemn Black Lives Matter and Antifa who rioted, looted, murdered, and inflicted chaos on American cities for an entire year.
In April, the White House claimed there is a black maternal health crisis due to systemic racism.
The Biden-Harris Administration continues that commitment to reducing unacceptably high maternal mortality and morbidity rates and to tackling health disparities that are rooted in systemic racism, a press release said. Thats why today, the President issued the first-ever presidential proclamation calling on all Americans to recognize the importance of addressing the crisis of Black maternal mortality and morbidity in this country.
Indeed, there is a significant health crisis in the black community but it has nothing to do with systemic racism. 117,626 black children were killed due to abortion in one year, as the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows. This comprised 33.6 percent of all abortions. The left remains mum on this crisis.
The irony is, we have four crises, Biden said in December prior to being sworn in, the third crisis is the inequity that exists, in the racial inequity that exists.
After the conviction of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd, the president re-upped the systemic racism language. It was a murder in the full light of day, and it ripped the blinders off for the whole world to see the systemic racism the Vice President just referred to the systemic racism that is a stain on our nations soul, said Biden, the knee on the neck of justice for Black Americans; the profound fear and trauma, the pain, the exhaustion that Black and brown Americans experience every single day.
Biden continues to peddle the notion that America is inherently racist and must be cured of its whiteness inadequately pointing to one government institution actively discriminating against black Americans while ignoring the greatest crisis facing our time. Its happening at the border.

Domenech: Republicans Confused The Priorities Of Big Business With Their Own – The Federalist
Posted: at 12:43 pm
Federalist Publisher Ben Domenech railed against corporate wokeism that was allowed to foster for years as Republicans protected big business, confusing Wall Street interests with their own.
While they may share conservative impulses toward deregulation and low taxes, these big businesses also seek to employ the government to prevent competition and protect vested interests, Domenech said Thursday while hosting Fox News Primetime. Now these same institutions are weighing into the culture wars in an unprecedented degree.
Domenech continued, highlighting how the unchecked power of the nations private enterprises has compromised its free enterprise system and, in turn, has fed an American crisis of lockdowns and online restrictions on speech.
American companies are not interested in harmonious living. They are loudly taking sides against one political affiliation and in favor of another, Domenech said. Its no accident that we see the corporate donations to Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy disappear at the same point the small-dollar donations from individuals explode. Its because theyre listening to the people, not the corporations.
The growth of the contemporary corporate complex circumventing Republican governance to implement their own dystopia, Domenech said, exposed a fatal flaw in libertarian assumptions about corporate motives, my own included.
We assumed greed would be their primary motivation, and that was a good thing, Domenech said. Their new attitude is basically, Republicans buy sneakers too, but should they?

Trump Isn’t President, But The Left Is Still Blaming Him For Everything – The Federalist
Posted: at 12:43 pm
Trumps shadow looms over Bidens presidency and a divided nation. So ran the headline of the latest piece of propaganda scribed by the Democrat mouthpiece publishing under the banner of the Washington Post. Line after line following that in last Thursdays purported analysis cements the sad reality that journalism dies in broad daylight.
In advance of this weeks State of the Union address, Washington Post staffers peppered the public with reasons for Joe Biden to blame former President Trump for the countrys divisionand Bidens inability to keep his promises.
Joe Biden won the White House by appealing for calm and unity. But he has inherited a fractured and volatile nation, the article began. Yes, Biden pushed unity as a campaign theme, but that appeal didnt win Biden the White House. It was a corrupt media. It is also the left and its complicit media that sow the division that is destroying our country.
The corrupt media sold the American public a fictional figurea healer, a moderate, a temperate manwhile burying Bidens bullying behavior and extreme positions. CNN got Trump out by pushing propaganda designed to hurt the 45th president.
In addition, a collusion of purpose drove the major news and social media outlets to banish The New York Posts blockbuster reporting on Joe Bidens pay-to-play scandal revealed by the trove of emails recovered from Hunter Bidens abandoned MacBook. The latter election-interference alone likely cost Trump a second term, with 4.6% of Biden voters [saying] they would not have selected him had they been aware of his sons China money affair.
Bidens unity theme is bunk. Soon after reading his inaugural address repeating that theme, as I noted previously, The president began to divide the nation with the flick of his pen, signing a flurry of executive orders that pitted Americans against each other. Bidens reversal of the Mexico City policy was a painful attack on pro-life Americans, forcing them to fund international abortion providers with their tax dollars. Halting the Keystone XL Pipeline promises to decimate many of this countrys blue-collar oil workers. And by discontinuing the border wall and instituting a 100-day freeze on deportations, Biden has pitted border states against the federal government, as southern states fight to safeguard American citizens and their fiscal health.
Yet the Washington Post, like most Trump critics, blames the former president for the countrys current divisions, and views Biden as the innocent who inherited the tinderbox. However, the divide between left and right long predated Trump. All Trump did was punch back. He did it as a street-fighter, never trained to aim above the belt like a lifetime politicians.
Democrats and their professional propogandists dont want a clean fight, either. They dont want debate and compromiseor better yet federalismto bridge the divide. They want unity by capitulation.
The Washington Posts analysis on the issues that divide so clearly proves this point. As Biden tries to keep his own promises, these are the volatile issues that confront him and continue to divide America, the article reads, suggesting if only Biden were able to fulfill his campaign pledges, America would be united.
Issue one dividing the country, according to the Post, is immigration. And why the schism? Its not because immigration has always been an intractable issue, with half (or more) of Americans supporting border security and limited legal immigration in a time of tight labor markets. No, its Trumps fault because he vilified immigrants like no president in modern times and his policies reduced the number of immigrant visas issued overseas and caused the annual growth of the immigrant population to plunge.
Ignored fully in last weeks P.R. release on behalf of Team Biden were the current presidents policies that caused a crisis on the southern border. Instead, the Post again presented the challenge as one Biden inherited, noting asylum seekers are still being turned away at ports of entry.
While acknowledging that a record number of unaccompanied teens and children are being held in detention centers, often for longer than legally allowed, Bidens complicity in that crisis merits no mention in the article. Rather, the Post again quickly pivots to Trump, writing in the next sentence that House GOP leader Keven McCarthy (Calif.) returned to Trumps messaging, spreading unfounded claims that terrorists were trying to enter the United States through Mexico.
Here we see the corrupt medias role as both a propaganda machine and as a divider. Under Trump, it was kids in cages, but now its detention centers. Yet it is the Post and not McCarthy spreading unfounded claims: U.S. Border Patrol confirmed just weeks ago that two Yemeni men who were both named on the FBIs terror watchlist and no-fly list illegally crossed the southern U.S. border before being arrested.
While the left remains blinded to the medias role in dividing America, the populace sees the propaganda aimed at denigrating those with wrong-think and resents the co-conspiratorial role leftist politicians and the press have forged.
No better example may exist than the transitional sentence the Posts staffer penned to take readers to the next volatile issue dividing America. Biden has promised to be a president for All Americans, the text ran before highlighting Bidens pledge[] to confront white supremacy and advance racial justice.
He was quick to condemn hate crimes against Asian Americans, the puffery continued, while ignoring that the Biden administration dropped the federal lawsuit filed against Yale University based on its admissions policies that discriminate against Asian Americans. Then came the attacks on Trump, with a link to a supposed in-depth look at how Trump policies and rhetoric exacerbated racial tensions.
Sadly, our country is experiencing a strain in race relations, but it is Biden, the left, and their complicit media torquing those tensions. Here are just a few examples: Biden regularlyrepeat[ed]the lie that then-President Trump called neo-Nazis and white supremacists very fine people, and the press perpetuated that lie. BidensmearedRepublican Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Ted Cruz of Texas as Nazis. The president outrageously condemned Georgias voter-integrity law as a return Jim Crow, and encouraged Major League Baseball to move the All-Star Game as punishment.
The Biden administration, backed by much of corporate media, continued this path of divisiveness with its reaction to the shooting death of MaKhia Bryant in Columbus, Ohio. While video footage established the police officers quick reaction and sure shot saved another black girl from being stabbed by a charging Bryant, the press instead ran with the inciting and incomplete narrative that police had killed a black teen.
When asked about the incident, Biden Press Secretary Jen Psaki took this tack as well, implying race was a factor in the shooting and that the officer acted unjustifiably: She was a child. Were thinking of her friends and family in the communities that are hurting and grieving her loss. We know that police violence disproportionately impacts black and Latino people in communities and that black women and girls, like black men and boys, experience higher rates of police violence.
As the press secretary for the countrys top Democrat, Psakis comments also represented a shocking chutzpah, as last year Senate Democrats killed Sen. Tim Scotts police reform bill.
Today we lost, I lost, the vote on a piece of legislation that wouldve led to systemic change in the relationship between communities of color and the law enforcement community, Scott said when his bill died. We wouldve broken this concept in this nation that somehow, some way you have to either be for law enforcement or for communities of color. That is a binary choice. Its just not true, Scott said.
The corporate press virtually ignored the demise of Scotts legislative proposal, and for good-in-their-eyes reasons: Scott is a Republican and African-American. As if to prove their motive, the Washington Posts Glenn Kessler last week ran a hit piece on Scott under the auspices of fact-checking his heritage as the grandson of a grammar-school drop-out and cotton-picker.
Yet the same Washington Post that ran Kesslers embarrassing self-own touted Bidens warning, We must reject the culture in which facts themselves are manipulated and even manufacturer, as the answer to our countrys division. The great American divide can also be mended, the Post suggests, if Biden can move quickly to fill vacancies on federal courts. Rejoining the Paris climate agreement and reversing the rest of Trumps environmental impact, the Post claimed, will also heal the nation.
In other words, if everything Trump did can be undone, our country will be all kumbaya. Unity by capitulation, however, is not unity; it is totalitarianism. Democrats seek it and the corrupt media sells itand they do so in the open air.
But sunshine is a disinfectant that still holds the chance of destroying the symbiotic relationship between the press and leftist politicians, designed to put and keep the country in the lefts tight control. Perhaps democracy will die after all, but if so, lets make it do so in the light.

Mollie Hemingway: More Than Police Reform, We Need Media Reform – The Federalist
Posted: at 12:43 pm
Federalist Senior Editor Mollie Hemingway discussed the uptick in violent crime nationwide on Fox News this Monday, saying we need media reform to more adequately tell the truth about policing and what the real problems are with crime.
Less than having a police crisis in this country, we have a violent crime crisis in this country, Hemingway said. Whats happened in that last year since Democrats decided to not do police reform is that violent crime has gone up in all of the major cities or all but one of the major cities, like the top 60 cities.
Hemingway discussed how the increases in violent crime across the nation more deeply affect poorer areas, instead of places elites live.
Youve seen a 33 percent increase in homicides, upticks in arson, and rape, and robbery. These are things that affect people in low-income communities, precisely the communities that we are told people care about, she said.
The media has continually lied about policing and not provided a fair rationale for the increases in crime, Hemingway noted.
Its been a decade of the media really telling lies about the state of policing in this country, and what the real problems are with crime in this country, she said.

It Will Take Years To Repair The Institutional Decay From COVID-19 Pandemic – The Federalist
Posted: at 12:43 pm
Federalist Publisher and Fox News Contributor Ben Domenech sat down with Martin Kulldorff, PhD and Jay Bhattacharya, MD, PhD to discuss the erosion of institutional trust bred by the coronavirus lockdowns experimentally implemented.
We have made all these decisions in panic mode, almost for a full year, said Bhattacharya, emphasizing hes more interested in accountability for the systems that led to widespread draconian lockdowns than the individuals who endorsed them. Rather than sort of calmly following plans that weve, that have made sense, which wasnt a lockdown, weve instead decided that only the lockdown could only be the solution, without counting the costs at all.
Costs of the lockdowns meanwhile, Bhattacharya said, far exceed those of the virus itself beyond dollars and cents, where cancer screenings went missed, heart attacks untreated, and diabetes not managed as COVID-19 continued to spread despite the extreme restrictions. Institutions, however, from government, to media, to tech giants have eroded their credibility through aggressive conformity with monolithic groupthink to promote the lockdowns.
Open debate, on the other hand, is vital to restore trust in public health officials from a weary population now subject to the only information tech conglomerates profiting on the lockdowns determine is admissible.
They have really failed us, Kulldorf said of the Silicon Valley tech giants monopolizing the digital public square with a complicit corporate media. There are a lot of people, regular scientists or public health people, Kulldorf continued, who dont dare to say what they want because they are afraid they will close down their Twitter account, or their Facebook account, or so on.
That silencing, Kulldorf said, has created this erroneous belief that the scientists are all pro-lockdown.

Tyler Perry Stuns Oscars With Powerful Rebuke Of Hate – The Federalist
Posted: at 12:43 pm
During a predictably leftist Academy Awards broadcast Sunday evening, one speech stood out amidst the virtue-signaling for its moving and refreshingly important message. In his acceptance speech for the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, Tyler Perry gave a powerful rebuke against hate and a plea for understanding between Americans on all sides of the ideological spectrum.
Perry opened with a memory of helping a homeless woman who asked him for shoes. Recalling his own experiences with homelessness, he brought her into the film set he was working on at the time, and gave her shoes from the costume department.
He described the situation, She finally looks up and shes got tears in her eyes. She says: Thank you Jesus. My feet are off the ground. In that moment I recall her saying to me, I thought you would hate me for asking but how could I hate you when I used to be you?
He then connected this memory to those of his mother, her experiences growing up in the South under Jim Crow, mourning the deaths of civil rights leaders while teaching him to reject hate, a lesson he hoped all parents would impart to their children.
From there, he demonstrated the impact of her lessons with a bold series of declarations, saying: I refuse to hate someone because theyre Mexican or because they are Black or white, or LGBTQ. I refuse to hate someone because theyre a police officer. I refuse to hate someone because they are Asian. I would hope that we would refuse hate.
The audience erupted into applause at the outset of this section. The claps and cheers began conspicuously fading the moment he mentioned police officers.
Frequently, when celebrities speak out against hate, they are preaching against some nebulous bigotry that the woke elite erroneously ascribe to all conservatives, of which they are always exempt. It must have been shocking to hear, at the Oscars no less, support for a group they desire to despise with impunity.
Calls for unity are similarly coded language asking those on the right to accept whatever extreme policy goals the left is attempting to push.Perry, who identifies as neither a Democrat nor Republican, likewise evaded this lip service to political civility by imploring the Oscars attendees and viewers at home to engage in open dialogue, meeting in the middle and attempting to understand each other.
He ended his acceptance with,I want to take this Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and dedicate it to anyone who wants to stand in the middle, no matter whats around the walls, stand in the middle because thats where healing happens. Thats where conversation happens. Thats where change happens. It happens in the middle. So anyone who wants to meet me in the middle, to refuse hate, to refuse blanket judgment and to help lift someones feet off the ground, this one is for you, too.
The entire speech can be seen here:

Let’s Not Give Statehood To The Third World Country Of Washington DC – The Federalist
Posted: at 12:43 pm
In their latest leftist power-grab, Democratic lawmakers in the House of Representatives voted last week to admit Washington, D.C. as the 51st state in the union, tossing the measure to the Senate, where it faces an uphill battle. Thats because, as even some Democratic senators know, conferring statehood on the District of Columbia is a horrible idea and not just because the founders wouldnt approve.
Washingtonians who have ever bothered to crack the Constitution (likely a minority of them) know D.C. statehood is unconstitutional. Article I of the Constitution grants the federal government the power of exclusive legislation, in all cases whatsoever, over such district as may, by cession of particular States and the acceptance of Congress, become the seat of the government of the United States even before the location of the district had been decided. As last summers mayhem and rioting illustrated, not only would granting statehood to D.C. give this one state a disproportionate amount of power, but it would also prohibit the federal government from eliminating threats and disorder there.
Lawlessness in capitals poses a unique danger to a nation, which is among the reasons the federal government has exclusive jurisdiction over the federal district, wrote Kyle Sammin here at The Federalist. [A]llowing D.C. to become the 51st state would enable one local government to hold the nation hostage through inaction or even endorsement of riotous disturbances.
But the biggest reason never to admit the District of Columbia as a state isnt that it would violate our treasured founding documents. D.C. lawmakers gave those up long ago, anyway.
Its that Washington, D.C., despite its stately marble halls and rich history, is a Third World country. Thats right: America would be better off giving statehood to Somalia. At least we could try fracking it. D.C. is no fracking good at all.
Behind the facade of regal septuagenarians and activist lawmakers who dont know the difference between insurgents and a surge, the brunching leaders of the next generation drunk on bottomless mimosas and blind ambition, and the dweebs in gingham button-downs overcompensating for their stature with a very important job at Deloitte or in some no-name congressmans comms office, exists the Wild Wild West of Washington.
Over here on the right, youll find the beautiful Lincoln Memorial. And here on your left, enjoy the whimsical vinyl wigwams of the homeless encampment that has commandeered your neighborhood park. When you ride the Metro, dont stand too close to the edge of the platform or to the deeply disturbed and erratic person shouting profanities to your right.
Union Station, the talk of the town during the holidays with its larger-than-life wreaths and abundance of twinkle lights, becomes what I like to call Cat-Calling Central after the snow melts. If you keep your head down, you can ignore most of the jeers, but the one particularly vocal gentleman without pants is difficult to unsee.
Some neighborhoods feel like San Francisco Lite. While most dog-owners clean up after Fido, the humans who sometimes defecate on the sidewalk prefer to leave those treasures for the shoes of the less-vigilant passersby. Similarly, every single Starbucks bathroom is strewn with enough stray toilet paper to supply a quarantined family of five for a week, and the floor is so wet, it resembles the floor of a community pool locker room after swimming lessons only stickier.
All that degeneration was all going on before rogues took over downtown during the riot season of 2020, setting fire to churches, looting convenience stores, and obliterating exposed windows.
We dont need to cross any borders to witness a failed state or at least a dysfunctional wannabe state. The 68 square miles of Washington D.C. have it all: a pathetic education system, federal security that is a shocking failure, law enforcement that stands by while mobs set fire to their squad cars, and lots of poverty and illiteracy one in four adults in the District struggles to do basic reading, and one in three cant do simple math. This is to say nothing of the city government, which is known to be fraught with corruption.
With its shock troops around the Capitol and its show trial for a sitting president, Washington D.C. is basically a banana republic. Not that federal lawmakers would know, but outside the privilege of the Capitol complex, so recently fortified with barbed wire and National Guardsmen, communities are a little more vulnerable.
This brings us to the out-of-control crime. Homicides were up 19 percent in 2020, as compared to 2019. Now since last year, theyre up another 43 percent in 2021 to date. Carjackings have also skyrocketed. Motor vehicle theft was up 50 percent in 2020 and another 32 percent in 2021 to date.
Just last week I watched an attempted carjacking right in front of my own car in a safe neighborhood just after the sun went down. Thankfully, the owner of that vehicle wrestled his van away from the crook, but these attempts are all-too-common, and not all victims are so fortunate.
Just last month, a Pakistani immigrant and UberEats driver was murdered by two teenage girls when they tased him and stole his car with the owner still hanging off the side. The teens are getting a plea deal that includes no prison time for murdering a father of three.
COVID has made everything worse. Isolation has exacerbated civil tensions and driven many restless Americans to the breaking point. The mentally ill are sicker still, and the corners of the city once populated by tourists have been overtaken by vagrants.
Meanwhile, while the crooked D.C. mayor spray-painted left-wing political slogans on a city street she designated as a gathering place for the mob, she also banished faithful believers from their houses of worship. And now instead of merely the usual overflowing trash cans, you can find dirty masks littering the sidewalk.
To repurpose a poetic line from former president and wordsmith Donald Trump, the District of Columbia is a sh-thole country.
Despite their snarky license plates, DCians have more representation in federal government than anyone else in all of America. Heck, as far as the corporate media is concerned, the country extends only to the perimeter of the Beltway, and congressmen and women who move to the swamp often work far more for the residents of Capitol Hill and Georgetown than they do for their constituents back in civilized America.
After watching an attempted carjacking, running for my life after hearing active shooter! in a crowded theater, and getting stuck in my apartment building when police surrounded my block to close in on an armed bank robber, Ive had enough excitement in this capital wasteland for a while. Wisconsin, a real state, is calling.
For the love of all that is good and holy, dont admit Washington, D.C. as the 51st state. The rest of America doesnt deserve to deal with the incompetence and barbarism of this awful place.

Idaho House And Senate Pass Bill Banning Critical Race Theory In Schools – The Federalist
Posted: at 12:43 pm
An Idaho measure to ban critical race theory in the states schools is heading to Republican Gov. Brad Littles desk.
HB 377 was approved by the House 57 to 12 last Thursday along party lines and passed in the Senate 28 to 8 on Monday. If signed by Little, the bill would prohibit teachers from forcing students to affirm, adopt or adhere to any doctrines that claim any people of any race, ethnicity, sex, or religion are responsible for past actions of those in their identity group.
The bill also states that No distinction or classification of students shall be made on account of race or color.
HB 377 was sponsored by GOP Sen. Carl Crabtree, who said it aims to be a a preventative measure for critical race theory in Idaho.
This bill does not intend to prohibit discussion in an open and free way, Crabtree said. It is a preventative measure. It does not indicate that we have a rampant problem in Idaho. But we dont want to get one.
The proposal would bar funding to K-12 schools, including universities and colleges, that attempt to compel students to submit to certain ideological positions or viewpoints. However, The Idaho Freedom Foundation took issue with the bill. The conservative group claims faculty members, teachers and professors could still be forced to undergo anti-racism or culturally responsive training if they wish to serve on search committees or even obtain or keep a job.
Additionally, the bill imposes no consequences on public universities and schools that violate section 33-138 of the bill by compelling students to affirm Critical Race Theory, the group said. Such consequences could be holding back funds, recognizing a cause for unemployment, or other disciplinary action. Therefore this bill does not provide sufficient accountability for public schools and universities.
