CDC confirms first ‘unknown’ coronavirus case in California that could raise concerns about the threat of the virus – USA TODAY

Posted: February 27, 2020 at 2:25 am

SAN FRANCISCO Even asPresident Donald Trump sought to reassure the public that the risk of coronavirus in the U.S.remains low, ominous news emerged that could heighten the level of concern.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday confirmedan infection in California thatwould represent the first U.S. person to contract the virus despite not visiting a foreign country recently or comingin contact with an infected patient.

"At this time, the patients exposure is unknown,'' the CDC said in a statement. "Its possible this could be an instance of community spread of COVID-19, which would be the first time this has happened in the United States. Community spread means spread of an illness for which the source of infection is unknown. Its also possible, however, that the patient may have been exposed to a returned traveler who was infected.''

Coronavirus, explained:Everything to know about COVID-19, the illnessalarming theworld

This brings the number of coronavirus cases detected in the U.S. to 15, with 12 of them related to travel and the other two to direct contact with a patient. There are another 42Americans who tested positive on the Diamond Princess cruise ship that was quarantined in Japan, and three detectedinWuhan, the Chinese city at the epicenter of the global outbreak.

In an evening news conference in which he named Vice President Mike Pence as the point man in the administration's response to the coronavirus, Trump pointed out the relatively small number of U.S. cases of an infection that has sickened more than 82,000 people throughout the world, the vast majority in China.

The global death toll hit 2,801on Wednesday night.

"Because of all we've done, the risk to the American people remains very low,'' Trump said. "We're ready to adapt and we're ready to do whatever we have to as the disease spreads, if it spreads.''

CDC officials havealready said it would. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC'sNational Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, warned Tuesday of possible severe disruptions to everyday life.

"It's not so much a question of if this will happen anymore but rather a question of exactly when this will happen and how many people in this country will have severe illness," she said.

The new case in California may validate that assessment.

Even before that news broke, officials in two of the state's jurisdictions took action in response to the coronavirus' threat.

San Francisco Mayor London Breedon Tuesday issued an emergency declaration aimed at preparing the city for anoutbreak even though no cases of the virus have been confirmed in the city.

And, on Wednesday, Orange Countywhich has had one case declared a local health emergency, though the rationale was different.

Although there are still zero confirmed cases in San Francisco residents, the global picture is changing rapidly, and we need to step up preparedness, Breed said. We see the virus spreading in new parts of the world every day, and we are taking the necessary steps to protect San Franciscans from harm.

First defense against coronavirus: 20 seconds of proper hand-washing

The declaration raises awareness, mobilizes city resources, accelerates emergency planning and coordinates agencies across the city, Breed said. She said it also allows for future reimbursement by the state and federal governments.

Santa Clara and San Diego counties have issued similar declarations to bolster their preparedness.

Breed emphasized theemergency declaration is aimed at getting services ready in the eventuality the virus reaches the city, whose population is more than 20% Chinese or Chinese American.

Given the high volume of travel between San Francisco and mainland China, there is a growing likelihood that we will see cases of COVID-19 eventually, SanFrancisco Health Officer Tomas Aragon said.

Several hundred miles south, Orange CountySupervisors Michelle Steel and Andrew Do said the emergency declaration was a response to the proposal to quarantine coronavirus patients in a local city, which has sparked an uproar.

The county of Orange continues to support Costa Mesa in opposition of state and federal governments decision to move COVID-19 patients to the Fairview Center, Do said.

In New York,Mayor Bill de Blasio had a different issue, saying theCDC has underutilized 1,200 hospital beds in the city that could be provided immediately to anyone who is being tested for coronavirus or who has tested positive.

De Blasiocalled on the CDCto launch a broad expansion of airport testing that he said was too narrowly focused on travelers to the U.S. from China.

We think that has to be expanded to any traveler coming from a country that has seen a major surge in cases, de Blasio said, namingHong Kong, Iran, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwanand Thailand.

With coronavirus sweeping across the world, it's easy to forget the epicenter of the disease, Wuhan. Wuhan can be compared to Pittsburgh or Chicago. USA TODAY

Trump has repeatedly downplayed the coronavirus threat, saying it was "under control.''

"The people are getting better. They're all getting better," Trump said Tuesday."I think that whole situation will start working out.A lot of talent, a lot of brainpower is being put behind it."

On Wednesday, Trump noted the flu has had much more impact than the coronavirus, saying he was amazed to find out influenza kills more than 25,000 Americans every year. There have been no reported fatalities in the U.S. because of the new virus.

"That was shocking to me,'' Trump said of the annual flu toll. "So far, if you look at what we have with the 15 people, and they're recovering.''

Donald Trump Will Rescue the Stock Market Just in Time for His Re-Election Campaign – CCN.com

Posted: at 2:25 am

Eight months away from the presidential elections, Donald Trump issued a dire warning that the stock market will crash like nobody has seen before should voters choose to kick him out of the White House.

It appears that voters dont have to wait for the presidential elections to witness the stock market cratering. The Dow Jones just printed its worst two-day percentage plunge in two years while the S&P 500 is down 7.8% from its all-time high. The stock market is tanking so it can serve Trumps reelection campaign in November.

One of Trumps greatest achievements as president is the record-setting stock market. Under Trumps presidency, equities have consistently printed fresh all-time highs. The S&P 500 climbed by as much 62.9% since Trump took office in November 2016. The Dow skyrocketed more than 65% over the same time period.

According to Bespoke Investment Group, the gains of the S&P 500 since Trump was elected are more than double the returns of his predecessors three years into their term dating back to 1928.

Theres no doubt that Trump will leverage this achievement to get reelected, but not in a way that most people think. Trump can take advantage of the current stock market selloff to get further rate reductions from the Federal Reserve. The rate cuts can resuscitate a crashing stock market before the presidential elections.

Will Meade, a billion-dollar hedge fund manager, echoes this sentiment. He believes that the rate cut will boost the economy and the stock market right in time for the election.

While Im not sure that Trump is really behind the selloff, he can definitely use the stock market crash as an opportunity to boost his candidacy.

In October 2019, the Federal Reserve said it plans to keep rates stable unless the economy faltered. In other words, the Fed is not ruling out further rate reductions in the future.

This gives Trump and his team the window to strong-arm the Fed to get a big rate cut in March. With the stock market cratering, Trump can weaponize Twitter to achieve his goal. A study has shown that the Fed is likely to succumb to Trumps tweets. It appears that the stars are aligning for a massive rate cut in March.

The question now is whether rate cuts can actually drive the stock market higher. Historical data show that the S&P 500 rose by an average 11% after six months when the Fed cut rates during an economic expansion.

JM Vala of LayupTrades.com thinks that rate cuts will help stabilize the stock market. He told CCN.com,

I think that yes, the Fed rate cut will help stabilize the market. Also, we were expecting zero rate cuts and we are now looking at up to three this year.

Other analysts are not so optimistic about the impact of more rate reductions.

Mati Greenspan, founder of Quantum Economics said,

At this point a rate cut would be a waste of a policy tool and I think the Fed knows that.

Jason Harris of StockHunterTrading.com shares Greenspans view. When asked if rate cuts would help prop up the stock market, he answered,

Not really. I think low interest rates are going to be the new norm for a few years if not decades.

For now, Trump can blame the coronavirus for the cratering stock market. I imagine it would do his campaign wonders if he becomes the hero that resuscitates stocks in the coming months. Given this context, it appears that Trump will once again come out on top of this situation.

Donald Trump’s India Visit Is a Showcase of Where Nationalism Leads – Esquire.com

Posted: at 2:25 am

Donald Trump long ago embraced the label of "nationalist" as a way to differentiate himself from the "globalists." This Steve Bannon Special was exactly the kind of false binary authoritarians feed on. "You know what I am? Im a nationalist. OK? Im a nationalist," Trump said at a 2018 rally. "Radical Democrats want to turn back the clock. Restore the rule of corrupt, power-hungry globalists. You know what a globalist is, right? A globalist is a person that wants the globe to do well, frankly not caring about our country so much. And, you know what? We cant have that."

This ideathat the United States can succeed, or the rest of the world can succeed, but you can't have bothis nonsense. But this is also a self-serving deployment of the term "nationalist," which, as George Orwell illustrated 75 years ago in his Notes on Nationalism, is not the same as "patriot."

Orwell made clear that "nationalism" was his term of choice because he'd yet to find one better, and that it can apply to all manner of movements"Communism, political Catholicism, Zionism, Antisemitism, Trotskyism"to which people might surrender their individual selves.

As fate would have it, Trump is in India this week visiting a nation that is increasingly subsumed by Hindu nationalist fervor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, now a Trump ally, has been linked with the movement since he was chief minister of the Indian state of Gujarat. Modi is accused of attempting to establish a Hindu-dominated society there, where Muslims would effectively be second-class citizens, and of complicity in a 2002 riot that reportedly led to the deaths of 1,000 Muslims. Since he was elected prime minister in 2014, the movement has spread nationally. Modi is now pushing a citizenship law that specifically discriminates against Muslims. India's status as the world's largest secular democracy is very much in the balance.

And while Trump visited Delhi with Modi on Tuesday, these were some of the scenes a few miles away, via the Washington Post's Rana Ayyub, after Muslim protesters took to the streets to voice dissent against the proposed citizenship lawand were greeted by police and Hindu counter-protesters.

And here's some BBC footage of what the British news service is calling "Delhi's night of horror." A Muslim man describes how he and his father were beaten by a Hindu mob demanding people give their names and recite Hindu slogans in order to prove their identities. A Hindu man says, under condition of anonymity, that Hindu residents were merely trying to help an overwhelmed police force.

So far, CNN reports 13 are dead, including a police officer, and 150 have been hospitalized. Indian police claim Muslim protesters were throwing rocks, though protesters say the demonstrations were nonviolent.

This appears to be a spasm of nationalist violence timed to greet the arrival of the President of the United States and his embrace of the nationalist leader. But this is also a preview of where nationalism always leads: towards violence, perpetrated by mobs and militias and even agents of the state, against The Other. In India's case, it is some in the country's Hindu majority against the minority Muslim population. In the U.S., most of the nationalist movement's ire has been directed at Muslims and Hispanic immigrants, though the most serious spasm of street violencein Charlottesville in 2017also involved white nationalists directing hatred at Jews and attacking antiracist protesters, including black men.

The vast majority of Trump's followers would not resort to violence. The same is likely true of Modi's. But overriding all of this is the growing sense across the world that nations belong to only some of their residents, that there are Real Americans and Others, that some people should have a seat at the table and make the rules and everybody else should just be happy to be there. The strength of secular democracies, like the United States and India, is that they theoretically grant the full rights of citizenship to anyone who subscribes to ideas about human life and flourishing that transcend religious and ethnic divides. But in this age of extreme inequality and growing tribalism, we are beginning to lose our grip on the Americanand, perhaps, the IndianIdea. As Orwell told us, this descent into unreason is at the core of nationalist fervor.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Miracle on Ice captain Mike Eruzione regrets wearing a ‘Keep America Great’ hat at Trump rally – USA TODAY

Posted: February 25, 2020 at 7:49 pm

SportsPulse: Mike Eruzione of the 'Miracle on Ice' hockey team spoke with USA TODAY Sports about the turmoil going on in American during their historic olympic run and whether or not it played a role on their psyche. USA TODAY

The 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team celebrated the 40th anniversary of their dramaticupset over the Soviet Union in Las Vegas last weekend, including an appearance at President Donald Trump's campaign rally.

Of the 14 players to climb on stage with the president, 10 donned red "Keep America Great"caps, similar to the "Make America Great Again" hats that became popular during Trump's victorious 2016 campaign and synonymous with him.

The team faced significant backlash online for the political display. But Mike Eruzione, the captain of the 1980 squad who scored the game-winning goal over the Russians, told the Washington Post the team was surprised by the reaction.

"If we knew we were going to piss off this many people, we probably would not have put the hats on, Eruzione told the Post. Thats the big question here. A lot of the stuff I got was, You guys said its not political, but when you put the hats on, you made it political.'

"I told my wife, 'People think we are a disgrace.'"

Eruzione said the team was in town to drop the puck at a Las Vegas GoldenKnights game, but received a call from the Trump campaign to appear for a photo with the president. After the picture, Trump invited them to join him onstage.

"What are you going to say?"Eruzione told the Post. "To us it was, 'Sure.'

"I just put (the hat) on. I wasnt thinking. Maybe this shows Im naive, shows Im stupid. I dont know. I dont follow politics. I know hes had some issues and said a lot of things people dont like."

Eruzione also told the Post he voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and voted for Trump eight years later.

This isn't the first time a red Trump hat has led to uproar in sports. During the Washington Nationals' White House celebration in November, Kurt Suzuki pulled out a "MAGA" hat when he stepped to the podium, and Trump then embraced him from behind.

Liberals are now starting to think Donald Trump will win once more | TheHill – The Hill

Liberals are starting to turn on one another across the campaign trail as it becomes increasingly clear that President TrumpDonald John TrumpTrump suggests Sotomayor, Ginsburg should have to recuse themselves on 'Trump related' cases Sanders says idea he can't work with Republicans is 'total nonsense' Sanders releases list of how to pay for his proposals MORE is now cruising toward reelection this fall. Four years ago, most liberals treated the prospect of his presidency as simply a punchline instead of a serious possibility. When they were proven spectacularly wrong in 2016, the same people tried to protect their egos with a conspiracy theory about collusion with Russia.

The 2020 election cycle started off with liberals wallowing in the same dismissive and unfounded certainty of their own triumph. Trump had no chance at reelection, they assumed, if he even made it to Election Day without being removed from office. Now following his acquittal and the realization that Democrats have to face the man who humiliated them, wishful thinking among liberals is quickly changing into outright panic.

Rising approval ratings, widespread agreement among Americans that they are better off under Trump, and the utter absence of the recession that his detractors have been predicting for years are breaking through the bubble of confidence that the liberal commentators had created for themselves and their fawning audiences. The race for the Democratic nomination is devolving into a blame game as the party scrambles to identify which of the candidates will not be a sure loser in November.

The collapse of Joe Biden has made Bernie SandersBernie SandersSanders says idea he can't work with Republicans is 'total nonsense' Sanders defends Castro comments in wake of backlash from some Democrats Sanders releases list of how to pay for his proposals MORE the new front runner, which has many liberals sweating bullets. The Democratic establishment is scrambling to find someone other than Sanders, as moderates such as Jonathan Chait sound the alarm. But leave it to James Carville, the spin doctor for Bill Clinton, to take the gloves off. Good God! We have got to do something here, Carville exclaimed, heavily implying that a Sanders nomination would be the end of days for the party and end in defeat.

But Sanders supporters are equally convinced that Trump will win unless Democrats nominate their radical candidate. After the disastrous failure to declare a winner in the Iowa caucuses, Sanders supporter and University of Iowa professor Jeffrey Cox observed, After a botched impeachment process that leaves Trump even more electable, we come to the deeply humiliating failure of the state Democratic Party. He added that unless the establishment is stopped, the party will lose yet another election.

Then liberals also have the Michael Bloomberg escape route, which would involve handing the nomination, most likely in a brokered convention, to a former Republican billionaire who is spending hundreds of millions of his own dollars in an effort to buy the election. But sadly for the Democrats, nominating an elitist billionaire would alienate large swaths of their voter base, arguably setting the party up for an even more disastrous defeat.

The absence of any viable candidate has led to the final emerging coping strategy on the left of complaining, as progessive media outlet Vox did recently, that the Constitution is fundamentally unfair, in part because it might mean that Trump can then win reelection. The internal squabbling coming out of the Democratic primaries suggests that the left now fears losing to Trump a second time more than they have at any point during his presidency. The worst part for them is that their fears are entirely justified.

CNNs Jim Acosta To Donald Trump: Our Record On Delivering The Truth Is A Lot Better Than Yours – Deadline

Posted: at 7:49 pm

Donald Trump got into another tiff with CNNs chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta after the president bashed the network during a news conference in India.

After Trump claimed that the network apologized that they said certain things that werent true, Acosta responded, Mr. President, I think our record on delivering the truth is a lot better than yours, sometimes, if you dont mind me saying.

Trump shot back: Let me tell you about your record. Your record is so bad you ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Acosta had asked Trump whether he could pledge to the American people that you will not accept any foreign assistance in the upcoming election.

Trump said, First of all, I want no help from any country, and I havent been given help from any country.

Acosta also asked Trump about his decision to replace acting director of national intelligence Joseph Maguire with Ric Grenell, the U.S. ambassador to Germany. Acosta noted that Grenell has no intelligence experience.

Trump defended the move, saying that Maguire was due to depart on March 11, anyway, and that he was looking at five potential permanent successors.

Trumps reference to a CNN apology actually had to do with an updated story about the U.S. intelligence communitys assessment of Russian interference in the 2020 election. CNN reported that the top election security official, in a briefing to lawmakers, may have overstated that Russia is interfering in the election with the goal of ensuring Trumps re-elction.

Trump visits a big foreign market for the U.S. and for Trump Org – POLITICO

Posted: at 7:49 pm

After politics, we would certainly look at India and other markets. Trump Jr told the Indian newspaper Mint in 2019. But India, he conceded, would be a big focus of mine. Frankly, it would be easier for me to get going in India because of the relationships we have built up in the last decade.

After winning the election in 2016, Trump ignored calls to fully separate from his company, which comprises more than 500 businesses, a step past presidents have taken. He still owns his business but placed his holdings in a trust designed to maintain assets for his benefit. Trump, who donates his presidential salary to support federal agencies, can withdraw money from the trust at any point without the publics knowledge.

His decision to link his private business interests with Americas highest public office in an unprecedented way has led to a vast web of potential conflicts of interest, allegations he is using the office to enrich himself and accusations he makes foreign policy decisions based on his businesses.

In the weeks after his election in 2016, Trump met with three of his Indian business partners Atul Chordia, Sagar Chordia and Kalpesh Mehta during the presidential transition at Trump Tower in New York, irking government ethics veterans.

Trump has repeatedly denied a connection between his business and his presidency, but multiple lawsuits, Democrats and government ethics specialists have accused the president of improperly mingling the two. The White House and Trump Organization did not respond to requests for comment for this report. Neither Don Jr. and Eric are joining for the trip to India, though Trump will be accompanied on the trip by his daughter, Ivanka Trump, a former executive at the Trump Organization who now serves as a senior advisor at the White House.

Trump is scheduled to leave Sunday for India, where he will hold a massive rally with Modi at a cricket stadium in Ahmedabad in the western part of the country before he travels to the capital, New Delhi, for official talks.

Trump visited his properties in Scotland in 2018 and Ireland in 2019 on trips but isnt expected to visit his Indian developments which are condo buildings, not resorts or clubs. Yet Trump has shown in the past that he is willing to drop in references to his properties while discussing unrelated political issues.

Its a little different situation than him going to his own club and being able to hold court there, said Alyssa Ayres, a former deputy assistant secretary of state for South Asia who now serves as senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. This trip will make [his properties] more visible in India.

The Trump Organizations history in India goes back over a decade. The company began talks with developers in India around 2007, initially signing a deal to develop a skyscraper in Mumbai. But that project floundered and it took another six years before the company finally entered Indian market in 2013.

Today, the company has four luxury condo projects across the country with what has been reported in India as revenue potential of $1.5 billion. In April 2016, it also proposed an office building in Gurgaon, a suburb of Delhi.

Trump Tower Pune, the first Trump development in India, is a pair of 23-story skyscrapers in the western Indian state of Maharashtra that boasts of redefining the Pune skyline. Trump Tower Kolkata is a 36-story skyscraper of black and silver glass that touts floor-to-ceiling windows in every room. Trump Tower Mumbai has a shimmering gold facade covering 75 floors that feature panoramic views of the Arabian Sea theres also a private jet available for customers. And each of the two Trump Towers in Delhi rise 50 stories.

At least one of the Trump Organizations partners is struggling, though. Macrotech, the developer of Trump Tower Mumbai, is saddled with mounting debt and was downgraded late last year by global credit rating agencies, including Moodys and Fitch. It has a bond repayment due weeks after Trumps visit.

The developments took Trump to India at least once in 2014, 10 months before announcing his presidential run, according to interviews. He attended the launch of the tower in Mumbai and promoted another property in the nearby city of Pune.

In India, the Trump Organization licenses its name and receives royalties from the projects instead of owning and managing the properties outright. Its a similar set up to many of the companys developments around the globe. The company often retains great interest in how the properties are developed and promoted, though.

According to the presidents personal financial disclosure forms, the companys Indian properties have earned Trump millions. Since 2014, Trump has likely earned more than $10 million in royalties from his deals with Indian developers, though exact numbers are not listed. In 2018, for example, he earned between $1 million and $5 million from the Kolkata property.

India, among other emerging markets, is the biggest push for our organization, Trump Jr. says on one of the Indian developer's websites.

What Would Happen If Trump Refused to Leave Office? – The Atlantic

Derek Thompson: The 2020 election will break history

That a president would defy the results of an election has long been unthinkable; it is now, if not an actual possibility, at the very least something Trumps supporters joke about. As the former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee tweeted, President Trump will be eligible for a 3rd term due to the illegal attempts by Comey, Dems, and media , et al attempting to oust him as @POTUS so thats why I was named to head up the 2024 re-election. A good troll though it may have been, Huckabee is not the first person to suggest that Trump might not leave when his presidency ends.

In May, the faith leader Jerry Falwell Jr. tweeted an apparent reference to the completed investigation of Special Counsel Robert Mueller into Russian election interference. I now support reparations, he wrote. Trump should have 2 yrs added to his 1st term as pay back for time stolen by this corrupt failed coup. Trump retweeted Falwells post.

One of Trumps former confidants, Michael Cohen, has suggested that Trump wont leave. In his congressional testimony before heading to prison, Trumps former attorney said, Given my experience working for Mr. Trump, I fear that if he loses the election in 2020, there will never be a peaceful transition of power.

Trump himself has joked about staying in office beyond his term, and even for life. In December, Trump told a crowd at a Pennsylvania rally that he will leave office in five years, nine years, 13 years, 17 years, 21 years, 25 years, 29 years He added that he was joking to drive the media totally crazy. Just a few days earlier, Trump had alluded to his critics in a speech, A lot of them say, You know hes not leaving So now we have to start thinking about that because its not a bad idea. This is how propaganda works. Say something outrageous often enough and soon it no longer sounds shocking.

Refusal to leave office is rare, but not unheard of. In the past decade, presidents in democracies such as Moldova, Sri Lanka, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Gambia have refused to leave office, sometimes leading to bloodshed. In 2016, Joseph Kabila decided not to step down after three five-year terms as the president of Congo, announcing that he would delay the election for two years so that a census could be conducted. His decision was met with mass protests in which 50 people were killed by government security forces. Still, he followed through and an election took place in 2018. He left office thereafter.

Elected officials in the U.S. have also refused to step down, albeit from lower offices than the presidency. In 1874, a Texas governor locked himself in the basement of the state capitol building after losing his reelection bid. The saga began when Republican Governor Edmund J. Davis lost the 1873 election by a resounding 2-to-1 ratio to his Democratic challenger, Richard Coke, and claimed that the election had been tainted with fraud and intimidation. A court case made its way to the states supreme court. All three justices, each of whom had been appointed by the incumbent Davis, ruled that the election was unconstitutional and invalid. Democrats called upon the public to disregard the courts decision, and proceeded with plans for Cokes inauguration. On January 15, 1874, Coke arrived at the state capitol with a sheriffs posse, and was sworn in to office while Davis barricaded himself downstairs with state troopers. The next day, Davis requested federal troops from President Ulysses S. Grant. Grant refused, and Davis finally stepped down three days later.

Brooks Koepka on Round with President Donald Trump: ‘We Had a Blast’ – Golf Channel

Posted: at 7:49 pm

Brooks Koepka recently received the GQ treatment, as he was the subject of a lengthy feature story that appeared online Tuesday.

Though there werent many revelations golf-wise other than Koepka saying hedoesnt need any more golf friends it was revealed that he played with President Donald Trump over the holidays for the first time. Rounding out the foursome at Trumps course in West Palm Beach, Florida, were Koepkas brother, Chase, and father, Bob.

I mean, we had a blast, Koepka told GQ. It was nice to have my family there, my dad, my brother. Anytime its with a president, its pretty cool. I dont care what your political beliefs are, its the president of the United States. Its an honor that he even wanted to play with me.

A look at professional golfers who have played alongside Donald Trump since he was elected President of the United States.

Koepka told GQ that hes met four of the five living presidents, and that spending time with then-president Barack Obama at the Floridian Golf Club was one of the top five highlights of my life so far.

I respect the office, I dont care who it is, he told GQ. Still probably the most powerful man in the entire world. Its a respect thing. Thats what I dont understand about the teams that dont go to the White House. Its still ... like, if I see an older man, its Yes, sir or mister. It wouldnt be like, Hey, Jack, whats up? Its like, Hey, Mr. Nicklaus, how are you? Out of respect. Doesnt matter who it is.

Koepka is one of several top mens players who have played at least one round with Trump, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson.
