Coimbatore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled a 112-foottall statue of Lord Shiva here on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.

The bust of Lord Shiva has been installed at the premises of Isha Foundation and dedicated to its founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, 'Maha Shivratri' symbolises a union of divinity with a purpose of overcoming darkness and injustice.

He also said, India has given the gift of Yoga to the world and bypractisingYoga, a spirit of oneness is created.

"Today whole world wants peace, not only from wars and conflicts but peace from stress, and for that we have Yoga.

"Rejecting an idea just because its ancient, can be potentially harmful," Modisaid.

A tight security was put in place for the PM's visit which coincided with a planned protests by tribal groups and political parties.

They alleged that the idol has been built on encroached land. The Left parties had asked the PM to keep away from the venue.

"This iconic face symbolises liberation, representing the 112 ways in which one can attain the ultimate through the science of yoga," the Foundation had earlier said in a statement.

PM Modi, who inaugurated the statue at 6.30 pm, also lit a sacred fire to mark the start of 'Maha Yoga Yagna' across the world when one million people would take theoath to teach yoga to others.

"For the first time in the history of humanity, Adiyogi introduced the idea that the simple laws of nature are not permanent restrictions.

If one is willing to strive, one can go beyond all limitations and attain liberation, moving humanity from assumed stagnation to conscious evolution," Sadhguru Vasudev had said.

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) [India], Feb.18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on February 24 unveil a 112-feet tall face of Adiyogi, the source of yoga, designed and consecrated by Sadhguru, founder of Isha Foundation on Mahashivaratri at the Isha Yoga Center.

This will be the largest face on the planet, recognizing the first yogis unparalleled contribution to humanity. The iconic face symbolizes liberation, representing the 112 ways in which one can attain to ones ultimate through the science of yoga.

As a tribute to Adiyogi, the Prime Minister will light the sacred fire to commence the Maha Yoga Yagna across the world.

Around one million people will take an oath to teach a simple form of yoga to at least 100 people each in the coming year, and touch at least 100 million people before the next Mahashivaratri.

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has included the consecration of this glorious face in its official Incredible India campaign as a destination.

The unveiling of Adiyogi is part of the largest Mahashivaratri celebrations in the country which will be telecast live, simultaneously in seven languages to over five crore people through over 23 satellite television channels and several online platforms.

At 11o latitude in India, because of the tilt and precision in the spin axis of the earth, the centrifugal force is nearly vertical, and Isha Yoga Center by virtue of being on this latitude becomes an ideal place to be on the night of Mahashivaratri.

The festivities of Mahashivaratri begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 6 a.m., the next morning. The nightlong celebrations include the powerful midnight meditation and discourse by Sadhguru, cultural performances by Kailash Kher, Rajasthan Roots with Kutle Khan, Sounds of Isha (Ishas home grown, anomalous group of musicians) and dance troop Nritarutya. Maha Annadanam or the offering of food will be made for all.

Describing the significance of Adiyogi, Sadhguru said, It is essential that the next generations of people on this planet are seekers, not believers. As philosophies, ideology, belief systems that dont stand the test of logic and the scientific verification will naturally collapse in coming decades, you will see the longing for liberation will rise. When that longing rises, Adiyogi and the science of Yoga will become very important.

In Tamil Nadu, Amavasya is considered the most important day in the month. We will leave the first offering to Adiyogi to the local people as a way of honoring the common people of the land, as an expression of their love and devotion. -Sadhguru

Preceding Mahashivaratri is the three day Yaksha festival, aimed at preserving and promoting Indias classical music & dance forms by the most accomplished artistes of India. This years artists include Violin duet by Dr. Mysore Manjunath and Dr. Mysore Nagaraj, Bharatnatayam performance by Padma Shri Smt. Meenakshi Chitharanjan and Odyssey dance performance by Smt. Bijayini Satpathy and Smt. Surupa Sen on 21st, 22nd and 23rd February respectively.

On the occasion of Mahashivaratri at Isha Yoga Center, all are invited to witness the unveiling of this glorious face of Adiyogi.

Yesterday I had dental work. I also had a sinus infection. I was excused from returning to my office. This freed me up to take a trip downtown to file my modified paperwork from last weeks adventures. Its an odd moment to realize that one is excited to be sick enough to go to court. I was so ill that I actually forgot where the courthouse was, and wandered around until I got my bearings.

In front of the courthouse is a statue of Justice, and I admit that this is not my favorite representation. She is blindfolded, but holds no scales. Her empty arms are in different positions, which I infer is the artists rendition of the concept of balance. My impression is quite the opposite. She seems lost, blind, and imbalanced. Other interpretations I have viewed depict a woman who is serene and exudes confidence. This woman is confused and unsure. I prefer the traditional model, but perhaps this new idea is more aligned with the actual reality of the system she represents.

I got to thinking about the idea of Grey Magick, at least as it is applied by most of the practitioners that I know. Esoteric discourse is rooted in the politics of the time period in which it occurs, it becomes an interesting gauge for historical events and cultural shift. Classically, there has always been a stark dividing line between White and Black Magick in Western thought. I heard Lon Milo DuQuette describe it best ..in one you kiss Gods ass, and in the other, you kiss the Devils. Another way to look at this dichotomy is practice that aligns one with external, or astral entities to adjust internal consciousness and create results. On the other end of the arc is practice that pursues similar goals through the use of ones own body, and alignment with terrestrial, or earthbound entities to effect something or someone outside of the self. One is used to bless, and one is used to curse. These categories have become less distinct over time.

Contemporary practitioners, whether they self-identify as magicians, Witches, Pagans, or other, typically use a variety of these techniques. Donald Michael Kraig describes this approach in Modern Magick as Grey Magick, or the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with will for the purpose of causing either physical or non-physical good to yourself and others, and is done either consciously or unconsciously. (MM, 11.) Grey Magick can quickly turn Black, as sometimes unintended consequences arise from the best ideas. Whenever we use our energies to change the world outside of ourselves, we take this risk. The results can be unpredictable. I thought of these things when I looked at this statue in front of the courthouse, my local equivalent of a Grey Temple. Looking at her I could only think that so much unconscious harm is doled out in pursuit of blessings.

To the side of the building but within range of the front door was a man with a Bible and a microphone. He had a step ladder instead of a soapbox, but the message was the same. Seems like an active season for the Jesus People, they are out and about in droves. Sports events, elementary schools, now court. He was not as strident as most, but he mentioned repentance and the promise of salvation if I just surrender to Gods love. It is tiresome to hear this everywhere these past few months, and I think I have become anesthetized to it on some level. I suppose to some this message would be appealing. He seems related to his bronze companion on the front podium. Trust in a higher power, trust the message, let wiser heads decide. Surrender, it is so much easier, and everything will work out in the end. We cannot see the pattern, but just have faith in the system. Let us guide you.

This has never worked for me. In the words of Elle King, Its a mean world that Ive known. Never got no good, doing what Im told. In fact, my rejection of religious dogma and exposure to the realities of the judicial system have led me to embrace a magickal worldview from an early age. I prefer to live from a philosophy of self-determination. I am responsible for my salvation or damnation, and am aware that all actions will have unforeseen effects. I do not need an external source of validation to assure me that everything will be fine. (Though it is gratifying to hear every now and again.) Conversely, I am not often unnerved at bad news or unexpected information. I have no expectation of safety, good news, or ordered existence. My early experience has trained this into me. While this was a source of pity in my youth, I find that it has served me well in recent circumstances.

To be accurate, I can take direction and frequently do. I have Gods, Ancestors, Fae, and other Allies whom I consult for perspective and guidance. The difference is that I can choose to obey, or not. Sometimes the recommendations are tough but necessary. Sometimes the advice conflicts with what I am aiming to accomplish. It is always up to my sole discretion. This is challenging, as there are many moments of self-doubt. However, I think this process is crucial to our survival as a species, if my own personal experience is any indication. We must question everything, and stop expecting to be saved. When we realize these things, conscious evolution occurs. It is not easy, but it is authentic.

Fearless Conscious Evolution - Home

Conscious evolution refers to the claim that humanity has acquired the ability to choose what the species Homo sapiens becomes in the future, based on recent advancements in science, medicine, technology, psychology, sociology, and spirituality. Conscious evolution assumes that human beings may be positioned at the crest of the ongoing evolution of the universe.

It has loose connections to integral theory, Spiral Dynamics, and noosphere thought. It is also sometimes connected to the theory of the global brain or collective consciousness.

Writers and thinkers on conscious evolution include Ervin Laszlo, Barbara Marx Hubbard, and Andrew Cohen. Tobias Tripler made some important contributions in his widely appraised treatise "Common Sense and other Things Mankind has not yet achieved", Fnord, 1991.

Conscious evolution suggests that humanity can choose advancement through co-operation and co-creation or self-destruction through separateness and competition.

In April 2014, Cardinal Gerhard Mller, prefect of the Catholic Church's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, issued a rebuke to the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, which represents the majority of U.S. nuns, for its promulgation of conscious evolution.

In the rebuke, he wrote: "The fundamental theses of conscious evolution are opposed to Christian Revelation and, when taken unreflectively, lead almost necessarily to fundamental errors regarding the omnipotence of God, the Incarnation of Christ, the reality of Original Sin, the necessity of salvation and the definitive nature of the salvific action of Christ in the Paschal Mystery."[1]

Soon after Mller's rebuke, the National Catholic Reporter issued a response by Barbara Marx Hubbard, whom Mller had mentioned in his remarks, in which she attempted to explain how the concept of conscious evolution is not, in fact, incompatible with Catholicism.[2]
