MSP Gail Ross victim of online identify theft – Northern Times
Posted: July 8, 2020 at 4:01 am
NORTH SNP MSP Gail Ross contacted police after finding herself a victim of online identity theft at the weekend.
A fake Facebook Messenger account, shut down on Sunday after being reported, had been communicating with Mrs Ross' constituents and followers and had been pretending to be her.
The cloned account had the same profile image used on the Gail Ross MSP page on Facebook and fooled many into communicating confidential details in the online chat box.
Mrs Ross said on Monday afternoon: The fact that someone has taken the time to set up a fake Messenger account in my name is bad enough, that they have actually been contacting people and pretending to be me is appalling.
"Being an elected member carries a huge amount of trust and I deal with lots of confidential information on a daily basis."
She said that some of the messages that people had received from the fraudster had made her "very worried".
"The thought of this person pretending to be me makes me feel sick and very angry."
On Monday morning, Mrs Ross contacted the Scottish Parliament security office along with Police Scotland who, she claims, are taking the matter "very seriously".
"Hopefully they can work with Facebook to find the person behind this.
"No one should have to endure this but to target vulnerable people in this way is sickening and I am horrified that there are people out there that may think this is me.
Mrs Ross received numerous supportive comments on her public profile account on Facebook on Sunday.
One "particularly vulnerable person" related to the MSP how they had given their private phone number to the scammer.
Mrs Ross said she is very concerned at what information may have been given out by her followers before the fake account was suspended.
"This wasn't random, the person was actively pretending to be me and sending messages to the followers of my MSP account."
Facebook account cloning is a simple scam but it can be easy to be fooled by it.
A cloned account is a copy that uses your profile photo and other public information to trick your friends into giving up their information.
It may seemlike a harmless prank, but these clones can cause real damage.
A cloned account may convince your friends to send them money, collect passwords or other information or dupe them into other scams.
If anyone has received a message from the fake account could they please take a screenshot and email it to Mrs Ross at: Gail.ross.msp@parliament.scot

It’s Time to Rethink How You Handle Cloning Out Distractions – Fstoppers
Posted: July 5, 2020 at 9:57 am
Whether youve worked with Photoshop for years, or are new to the program and want an updated approach to cloning, healing, and editing out distractions and issues, theres been a number of updates that have challenged the old paradigm of editing in these situations. Want to know the new approach you should be using?
When I got started with Photoshop, and had to deal with removing an element of an image, Id reach for either the clone stamp or healing brush tool. Both were fine, but required a good sense of how to rebuild the areas, if you were removing a sizable chunk of the photo. For this next section, when I refer to cloning, you can consider healing and cloning to both run into the same issues, at least to some extent.
Beyond just size, theres a number of complicating factors that can make these tools more difficult to use than necessary. Consider an object against a pattern background, where youll have to pay attention to matching the orientation and periodicity of the pattern itself, rather than just cloning over it with a random sample. Another example is when cloning up against the border of two different objects, especially where theres a defined edge. Working near that edge with a healing brush can result in a blurry mess, instead of a clean replacement.
To work around these challenges, Photoshop has added a number of tools that I dont think get enough attention for this part of the workflow. Furthermore, there are a number of optimizations to how you work with the existing tools that can help address these issues.
The first change Id recommend making is altering how you approach editing out a distraction in the first place. Instead of reaching for a brush of any type or the patch tool, grab the lasso tool. Combined with content aware fill, I find it much easier to make selections quickly, hit my reassigned shortcut for fill (faster than Edit> Fill), and end up with a great looking result for basic adjustments.
I like this better than the brush approach because of how well it leads into making adjustments to the area being fixed. If I need to end up selecting more of a region, like if theres a color cast spilling onto the background, its easy to add to the selection. If Im removing too much, just by holding Alt, I can quickly remove something from the selection. In the very rare cases where Photoshop isnt automatically selecting a good patch to fill with, its easy to jump into the dedicated Content Aware Fill dialog, as your selection is already set up.
This approach isnt just good for its versatility, but also because it is very low effort. Draw a sloppy circle around what you want gone and it vanishes. Content Aware Fill seems to do a remarkable job of leaving things alone that dont need to be removed, even if its in the active selection, unlike when you draw outside the area with the spot healing brush.
Furthermore, Photoshop offers a ton of options for making an easy, effective selection, making this approach even easier. A great example of this is when working with a panorama. After stitching, you can end up with small gaps around the edges of the frame, where the stitch hasnt resulted in a perfectly rectangular image. To fill these in with a brush-based approach would require a detailed examination of the edges of the frame and painstaking work to brush in only the necessary regions. Instead, by selecting all the content on the layer, inverting the selection, and expanding it by a few pixels, you can quickly fill all these gaps automatically. Ive even loaded that process into an action, taking what would have been minutes of work into about 5 seconds and 2 clicks.
To sum it up, when working with an easy, or even intermediate issue, Ive left the myriad healing and cloning brushes in the toolbar, instead relying on sloppy selections and Content Aware fill via both the fill menu and dedicated dialog. Its saved a lot of effort, and can easily be stepped up to deal with more difficult cases.
Unfortunately, Content Awares AI isnt at Skynet levels just yet, For some areas, its still necessary to go in and manually clone out the region. This is most noticeable in the cases I mentioned earlier in the article, with regular patterns and some literal edge cases. Here, however, I still dont leave the selection tools behind.
Making a selection before working with cloning tools can be one of the best ways to refine your approach. One of the easiest examples of this is when working with something that comes up to an edge of another object. In these three shots, you can see the initial issue, the selection, and the finished product. By going in with just the regular clone stamp, you can build in some margin around that white pillar, while still keeping a very clean edge on the object. Once thats done, you can then use any tool, like the healing brush, to go in and finish the job, as well as refine the transition.
Trying to mirror that rounded edge with a single brush stroke is way more difficult than it needs to be. Setting up the selection ahead of time functions a bit like the bumper guards in bowling, where even a mistake doesnt ruin your attempt.
Setting up this perimeteralso leads into my next bit of advice, which is dont be afraid of the clone stamp. While the initial strokes can look worse than using the healing brush or spot healing brush, I find that for larger areas, you can never get the healing brush to look just right without first removing the offending object via another method. Healing over a large area can just result in a smudgy mess, often with color artifacts from the removed object. Instead, give a couple swipes of the clone stamp to at least get the area into a more neutral starting position, then refine with the healing tools if necessary.
One last thing to remember is the clone source panel. If youre working with an offset pattern, or dont have a great 1:1 match for cloning, you can use the clone source panel to expand your options. In the panel, you can adjust the rotation of your clone source to better match your subject, increase or decrease the scaling ratio, or even mirror it. By playing around with these settings, you can get a far more convincing blendor even create a usable source out of an otherwise dissimilar area.
None of these features are that new, with content aware fill being around for years already, for example. Instead, the iterative improvements of content aware fill, combined with some new techniques Ive integrated into my workflow, have led me to realize that I hardly even touch the old standards of cloning work anymore. As content aware fill continues to improve, Ive had to do less and less manual refinement. Id suggest you see how it fits into your workflow, as well as understand the cases where it isnt going to be useful, and how to compensate it might just save you quite a bit of time in your next edit!

The best sci-fi movies about cloning – Looper

Oblivion draws heavily from science-fiction films of yesteryear, particularly sci-fi movies of the 1970s. The year is 2077, and humanity has relocated to Titan, Saturn's largest moon, after Earth was overrun by aliens. Tom Cruise's character, Jack, is sent back to Earth to help service drones in their fight against the extraterrestrials. It's during his time back on his home planet that he discovers he has been cloned. Nothing about Jack's reality is quite what it seems, and watching him unearth the truth is a gripping ride from start to finish.
Oblivionis definitely more of a popcorn flick than other movies you'll find on this list. It doesn't dive as deeply into the ethical ramifications of cloning, nor is it distinguished by granular scientific detail. But then, it's not interested in those things Oblivionwants to be a blockbuster sci-fi of the highest order, and completely succeeds.Cloning is only one of many sci-fi concepts the movie plays with: Rebelling robots, a post-apocalyptic setting, and subterranean cities are all here too. It pretty much wins sci-fi bingo, and that's why we love it.

Stranger Things Season 4 Theory: The Jim Hopper In Russia Is A CLONE – Screen Rant
Posted: June 17, 2020 at 1:01 am
Stranger Things season 4 has a lot of questions to answer, among those how Jim Hopper survived the explosion at the end of season 3 and how he ended up in Russia. As the Duffer Brothers have been keeping all details about season 4 a secret, fans of the series have been coming up with all types of theories, among those one that suggests the Hopper in Russia is actually a clone. Season 3 of Stranger Things left viewers wondering if Hopper was really dead, who the American prisoner is, and what will happen with Eleven now that her powers are gone and she moved out of Hawkins with the Byers.
With production of Stranger Things season 4 on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, plot details will continue to be a mystery for a while, but Netflix and the team behind the series decided to treat their fansand released a teaserwith a big revelation on Valentines Day: Hopper is alive, and hes being held prisoner in Russia. Of course, the biggest questions are now about how Hopper survived and how he became the American prisoner (supposing theres only one), and fans have come up with all types of explanations.
Related: Stranger Things' Hopper Reveal Highlights The Show's Big Problems
One of those suggests the Hopper seen being forced to work in a chain gang in Russia is not the Hopper that viewers know so well, but a clone. The theory can be supported by some details from the previous seasons of Stranger Things, as well as by some of the series (many) influences and the mystery that is the Upside Down and the creatures living in it. Heres how Hopper could be a clone in Stranger Things season 4.
The final episode of Stranger Things season 3 saw the main group and their allies divided into three factions: the Scoops Troop (Dustin, Steve, Robin, and Erica), the Griswold Family (Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Max, Jonathan, and Nancy), and the Bald Eagle (Joyce, Hopper, and Murray). The latter group was in charge of infiltrating the Russian lab located underneath Starcourt Mall, and for that, they had to dress as Russian agents. Once there, Joyce and Hopper got to the part of the lab where the Key was (the machine designed to open gates to the Upside Down), and in order to shut it down, they had two turn two keys at the same time, but they were interrupted by Grigori (also known as the Russian Terminator). Hopper and Grigori fought near the machine, with Hopper pushing Grigori into the device, killing him instantly but also causing the Key to malfunction and trap him between the semi-open gate and a ray of energy. With seemingly no way out, he signaled Joyce to turn the keys, even if that meant he would die. Joyce did so and the machine exploded, killing those near it. Hoppers body (or what would have been left of it) was never found, which made fans wonder if he could have survived somehow.
Now that its confirmed that Hopper is alive, fans have come up with different explanations on how he survived. One of the most popular ones explains that, when Joyce closed her eyes when turning the keys and the screen went black, thats when Hopper made one final move to save himself. When the screen went back to the scene, right before the Key exploded, Hopper was not where he was supposed to, which has made fans believe Hopper found a way to escape at the last second. Its possible that the Russians learned a few lessons from their previous failed attempts to open gates and added a safe zone in case the Key malfunctioned again. With that in mind, Hopper could have found the ladder that leads to a safe area or the shockwave of the explosion tossed him away, falling into that zone. As he was wearing a Russian uniform, he might have been found by them and believed to be part of their team, which is how he ended up on the other side of the world.
Another well-known theory suggests the explosion sent Hopper through the gate and into the Upside Down, where he was trapped for a while. Given that everything about the Upside Down continues to be a mystery, it could have served as a portal of sorts that took Hopper to Russia and as the post-credits scene of season 3s finale revealed that the Russians have their own Demogorgon, that means they have successfully opened at least one gate, which could have been Hoppers ticket out of the other dimension.
Related: Stranger Things Theory: The Demogorgon Is Key To Hopper's Return
Stranger Things has relied a lot on many horror and sci-fi tropes, but it has also had its own twists. Season 4s could be that the Hopper being kept prisoner in Russia is not the real one, but a clone. The big question, then, would be how and whyhe was cloned but it might not be the Russians doing. In season 3, viewers followed Billy Hargroves transformation after his encounter with the Mind Flayer. Billy was taken to the Upside Down, where he came across with a clone of himself after the Mind Flayer planted a part of itself inside him (as it did with Will in season 2, but in a much deeper level). After that, Billy was under the control of the monster, which brought significant changes in him, both physical and behavioral.
Taking Will and Billys cases as examples, and following the aforementioned theory of Hopper being thrown into the Upside Down during the explosion, the Hopper in Russia could be a clone created by the Mind Flayer. The purpose of a Hopper clone in this case would be to continue with the monsters plans of taking over this dimension, more so after its past attempts have failed because of Elevens intervention. Cloning Hopper specifically would also help the Mind Flayer attract Eleven, given the strong bond between them, allowing it to get its revenge after all those times Eleven got in the way. The Mind Flayer has been getting stronger, and it wouldnt be surprising if it perfected its plan following its most recent defeat, including now the use of a clone.
However, if Hopper survived thanks to a safe zone in the lab and was mistaken by a Russian scientist and taken to Russia, then the purpose of a Jim Hopper clone would be different. Hopper knows too much about Hawkins Lab, the Upside Down, the monsters, and the Russians and the Russians are still experimenting on the other dimension and the creatures living in it. Cloning Hopper would not only help them get the information they need and use him however they need, but also help them get their hands on Eleven, whose powers would be very useful to them. The Russian guards line of not the American could then refer to the scientists keeping Hopper alive to clone him, so he couldnt be the Demogorgons dinner.
Stranger Things is heavily influenced by many sci-fi and horror films from the 1980s, among those classics like John Carpenters The Thing and the Star Wars films. The Thing has already been referenced in Stranger Things a poster can be spotted at Mikes basement and Lucas mentioned it when explaining why he liked New Coke but its influence in terms of narrative and more hasnt really been felt yet. Viewers were quick to point out how the season 4 teaser had big The Thing vibes: set in a snowy, isolated place, where a dangerous and mysterious creature is being kept (in this case, the Demogorgon). Some even found some similarities between the strange noise/scream heard at the end of the teaser and the sound the creature from The Thing made.
Related: How The Thing's Iconic Poster Was Made (In Just 24 Hours)
Carpenters film followed a group of American researchers in Antarctica who came across with a parasitic extraterrestrial life-form that assimilated and imitated other organisms. The creature began to attack the group and pose as some of them, making them paranoid as they could no longer trust each other, as it was very difficult to know if the person next to them was the real one or the thing. Stranger Things could be following the steps of The Thing in season 4 and bring clones to the mix, with Hopper being the chosen one to introduce this concept in the series, causing (even more) conflict and paranoia among the group.
Of course, theres also Star Wars, which also has its own clones. They were genetically engineered with the purpose of killing and dying to defend their makers. Clones in Star Wars had tragic lives, as all they knew was the battlefield and werent really treated like human beings. Though it appears that all clones were gone by the time the original trilogy begins, the sequels went back to the concept of cloning by revealing Palpatine had cloned himself. The Star Wars universe is in constant change, but that doesnt mean the Duffer Brothers cant borrow the idea, even if it wasnt really present in theStar Wars films from the 1980s. Some fans have found similarities between Hopper and Han Solos arc, and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is among the many influences for Stranger Things season 4, so it wouldnt be surprising if they take these influences beyond the iconic 1980 film.
As mentioned above, the consequences of a Hopper clonewould depend on who created him and with what purpose. If its the Mind Flayers doing, it would mean that the groups encounters with it are far from over, and that the creature has once more evolved and even worse, it now has at least one more gate from which it can begin to take over this dimension. If the Hopper clone is created by the Russians, the bad guys could get easy access to very important information about Hawkins, the lab, and its residents, especially those the Russian scientists came across with. Both scenarios would represent a big threat to Eleven, as both can be used as bait: the Mind Flayer wants revenge, and Eleven can easily fall when seeing the Hopper clone, and the Russians could really use her powers in their experiments.
Of course, some of the biggest questions are if and how people would realize that theyre not dealing with the real Hopper. Going back to The Thing, cinematographer Dean Cundey hasteased that he added a subtle illumination to the eyes of uninfected characters, a hint for viewers to know who was real and who was a clone. Stranger Things season 4 could have its own subtle hint, which only those truly observant and those who know Hopper very well would notice. As for the real one, he could be either trapped in the Upside Down or being kept prisoner by the Russians, though under heavier surveillance than the rest. A Hopper clone would add more conflict and drama to Stranger Things, and as its still unknown when season 4 will be released, fans will surely continue trying to find explanations to some of the series biggest mysteries.

‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 theory suggests Hopper clone – International Business Times UK

Chief Jim Hopper is alive, as revealed in the "Stranger Things" Season 4 teaser. However, he may not be the same Hopper fans have grown to know and love.
Fan theories are never-ending when it comes to the storyline and plot for the upcoming season. Recent speculations involve the possibility that the Hopper shown in the trailer is a clone, with the Mind Flayer responsible for the cloning.
According to Screenrant, the cloning may have happened after the explosion at Starcourt Mall in Season 3. A previous theory claimed that Hopper escaped the explosion at the underground Russian lab when he was thrown into the Upside Down. However, Hopper may have been cloned by the Mind Flayer to serve its purpose, which is to lure Eleven.
Cloning Hopper would make it easy for the monster to get its revenge on Eleven. She interfered with its plan to conquer the human world in Season 3, when she prevented Billy Hargrove from executing any more of its plans. Eleven and Hopper share a close bond and once she finds out that he is alive, she would not hesitate to approach him. This would make it easy for the Mind Flayer to kill Eleven when given the chance.
The question though, is how a cloned Hopper ended up in Russia as seen in the "Stranger Things" Season 4 teaser. It is supposedly likely that he ended up in a safe zone during the explosion and the Russians took him in as a prisoner.
The Russians would also have their own agenda for keeping him and not feeding him to the Demogorgon. Hopper knows a lot about the Upside Down and the monsters that live there. He is also Eleven's father figure and his connection to her would benefit them. Thus, they would likely also clone him to get their hands on Eleven so they could use her powers.
The idea of having a cloned Hopper in "Stranger Things" Season 4 is not far-fetched given how the Netflix show references 1980s movies. John Carpenter's "The Thing," which tells the story of an alien life form that takes the form of the human it kills, was heavily teased in the series (from the poster in Mike's basement and Lucas' fascination with Coke because of the film).

Developing Qt5 applications natively on Wind River Linux – WIND
Posted: at 3:56 am
By Nathan Hartman
Wind River Linux provides the technologies essential to building a flexible, stable, and secure platform for your embedded devices.
Based on OpenEmbedded releases from the Yocto Project, it is designed to let you customize your platform to include only the packages and features you need. Powered by bitbake, it provides the ability to build an entire Linux distribution from source by following repeatable recipes. This is really powerful, but can be foreign to application developers that already have a workflow they are comfortable with.
Developers building graphical user interfaces (GUI) have their own set of tools that they rely on. Often they prefer to use an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tailored to the language and frameworks they are working with. Typically this IDE and the tools it uses are running natively on the same platform they are building for.
Fortunately, these developers can still do this on Wind River Linux. This tutorial describes building Wind River Linux with the GCC toolchain and Qt Creator included to enable native application development.
Building the entire platform has a few simple requirements to get started. Many Linux distributions are self-hosted meaning you can only build the next version of the distribution with the previous release.
Wind River Linux supports a wide variety of hosts. The official supported list of hosts is below, but many newer releases have been tested and known to work.
For details on necessary Linux Host System Libraries and Executables please refer to the documentation.
For example, on Ubuntu systems the following packages must be installed:
In addition, the deployment steps require root or sudo access for deploying to an SD Card or USB flash device.
Lastly, this tutorial has been validated for the Raspberry Pi 4 and Intel NUC devices (NUC5i3MYBE, NUC6i7KYK, NUC7i5DNK). These instructions should work on other devices, however we tested these devices specifically to ensure that the hardware acceleration was enabled for top performance.
The first step is to clone the Wind River Linux GitHub repository.
Create a directory for the tools needed to create the Wind River Linux image. This will be referred to as the parent directory from this point onwards:
In a Linux terminal, clone the repository into your build folder with the following command:
Note: A clone of wrlinux-x defaults to the WRLINUX_10_19_BASE branch with the latest update tagged. WRLINUX_10_19_BASE_UPDATE0003 or greater is required for the Raspberry Pi 4 BSP. This tutorial was written using WRLINUX_10_19_BASE_UPDATE0007.
This section describes the usage of the Wind River setup.sh tool for easy configuration of the build. We will use it to specify the target board, download the layers required, and pre-populate the configuration file.
In the parent directory that wrlinux-x was cloned into (wrlinux_qt), run the setup.sh script. Accept the End User License Agreement (EULA).
For Raspberry Pi 4 use:
For an Intel NUC use:
Note: The --machine flag specifies that it should include the board support package for your device, the --dl-layers flag downloads the package source now instead of later at build time.
After some time, you will see:
At which point the following files and directories should have been generated:
Run the environment setup scripts that were generated in the parent directory. They will create and change to the build sub-directory.
These scripts will set environment variables for the build tool as well as generate some pre-built configuration files.
Note: If you have previously built an image, running these scripts will not overwrite your existing configurations. Rename, move or delete previous configuration files to ensure the correct configuration files are generated.
This section describes how to add the required template files using git.
Clone the meta-qt5 and the meta-qt5-extra repositories in a my-layers directory
Download the required patches listed below into the wrlinux_qt/build directory:
Credit goes to my colleague, Quanyang Wang, for creating the patches to integrate LxQt desktop on Wind River Linux.
In the meta-qt5-extra directory, apply the first patch:
In the wrlinux layer directory, apply the wrlinux patches:
This section describes how to clone the meta-qt5 and meta-qt5-extra layer repositories. In addition, how to add the layers, GCC toolchain and desktop environment to the image.
Using the bitbake-layers tool, add the layers to the conf/bblayers.conf file. This allow bitbake to locate the custom layer when building the image. In addition, if using a Raspberry Pi add the Raspberry Pi Graphics layer to enable hardware acceleration.
If building for the Raspberry Pi, add in addition for hardware acceleration:
Edit conf/local.conf configuration file to add the GCC toolchain, packages required for Qt5 and the desktop environment. Append the following lines to the end of conf/local.conf:
Note: this tutorial uses the LxQt desktop, but you may replace feature/lxqt with feature/xfce if you prefer to use the desktop featured with the Raspberry Pi Foundation images.
If building for the Raspberry Pi, also add the following to enable hardware acceleration:
If building for Raspberry Pi, edit ../layers/bcm-2xxx-rpi/recipes-bsp/boot-config/boot-config/cmdline.txt file to adjust the kernel parameters.
Note: These changes ensure that the console output appears on the HDMI display and that the boot sequence doesn't wait for a DHCP connection.
This section describes building the Wind River Linux image
Build the image of your choice. As seen in the image in step 4, there are several suggested images. We will build wrlinux-image-std-sato, an image optimized for a desktop environment.
After some time, you will see the following when the build is finished:
This section describes how to identify your USB SD Card adapter or USB flash drive using fdisk.
Use the fdisk command to list the block devices detected by Linux:
Identify your device through the model name or capacity.
Note: In this case the device is '/dev/sdx' as seen by the capacity and 'Disk model'. The device name should take the format of '/dev/sdx' where x is a letter specific to your machine.
This section describes how to write the generated .wic and .wic.bmap or .iso files to the SD card or USB flash drive.
Locate the images generated by bitbake. Relative to the build directory, the image path is:
Specifically, we need the wrlinux-image-std-sato-bcm-2xxx-rpi4.wic and wrlinux-image-std-sato-bcm-2xxx-rpi4.wic.bmap files.
Using bmaptool, flash the generated files to the usb device
After up to several minutes (depending on the speed of your USB device) you should see:
Locate the images generated by bitbake. Relative to the build directory, the image path is:
Specifically, we need the wrlinux-image-std-sato-intel-x86-64.iso file.
Flash your image using dd
In some cases, dd can appear to hang while writing from memory to the USB. Check the progress with:
It should approach the low hundreds when the write is finished.
This section describes how to resize the root filesystem to take up the full capacity of the SD card. With the USB device inserted, run the following commands, replacing /dev/sdx with your device.
For the LxQt desktop, the login and password are wrluser and the $HOME directory is /home/wrluser.
After logging in you will be presented with the LxQt Desktop:
Note: If you chose to use the the XFCE desktop, the login is root with no password and the $HOME directory is /root.
The sample applications come from Qt git repositories. Cloning the repositories requires that you have a working network connection. If for any reason your device didn't automatically get a dynamic IP address you may use the following commands to obtain one.
Open QTerminal by clicking on the icon in the bottom left corner, then click System Tools > QTerminal.
In a QTerminal, execute the su command to become the root user.
Then execute the "ip a" command to verify that your device has retrieved an IP address. Refer to the inet line under eth0 to see your IP address.
If you do not already have an IP address, then you may execute dhclient eth0 to request a dynamic IP address.
Execute exit to stop running commands as the root user and become wrluser again.
This section demonstrates the mesa-demos glxgears application.
Open QTerminal by clicking on the icon in the bottom left corner, then click System Tools > QTerminal.
Execute glxgears to try the OpenGL example. If the hardware acceleration is working, it should report around 60 frames per second on the Raspberry Pi 4.
This section demonstrates an OpenGL example from the Qtbase repository.
Use git to clone the repository containing the OpenGL examples
Copy the examples folder out of the qtbase directory so that Qt Creator will let us build the project.
Launch Qt Creator from the GUI
Open the openglwindow.pro file by selecting File > Open File or Project from the menu.
Navigate to $HOME/examples/opengl/openglwindow/openglwindow.pro. Then click, Open.
Select "openglwindow" as the Active Project, then click the Configure Project button.
Build and run the application by clicking Build > Run in the menu.
(Optional) You may click the "Compile Output" tab along the bottom to watch the toolchain output as the project builds.
After a few moments the openglwindow should appear with a spinning rainbow triangle.
This section demonstrates the QtCluster example from the Qtbase docs repository.
Open a terminal and clone the repository containing the Qt docs:
Launch Qt Creator from the GUI
Open the qtcluster-base.pro file by selecting File > Open File or Project from the menu.
Navigate to $HOME/qtdoc/doc/src/snippets/qtcluster/qtcluster-base.pro. Then click, Open.
Select qtcluster-base"* as the Active Project, then click the Configure Project button.
Build and run the application by clicking Build > Run in the menu.
Note: If the hardware acceleration is working, it should report around 60 frames per second on the Raspberry Pi 4.
