Debit and Credit card cloning is on rise – Afternoon Voice

Posted: December 5, 2021 at 11:47 am

On November 27, 22, in a span of three hours customers of a nationalised bank who had their accounts in the (West) branch were duped of a total of Rs 2.24 lakh by a fraudster who withdrew money from the ATM without them sharing any details. Two days later one more person, a senior administrative officer with BEST training school, was duped Rs 2.7 lakh in 29 fraudulent withdrawals between November 11 and November 22 but realised it later.

The police said all the fraudulent withdrawals were made between 7.30 pm and 10.30 pm. Cops suspect that the fraudster, using a skimming device attached to the ATM machine, captured the card details, made clones of the cards and withdrew the money. After the fraudulent transactions, the victim received a few text messages from the bank which went unnoticed as it was delayed due to a network issue. Similarly, another victim Mahadev Thavi (62), a carpenter, lost Rs 6,600. The victims are worried about their money.

In spite of this, the Bank has not received any complaints from either the customers or the branches. Even the police have not approached the bank for CCTV footage or customers account details. Bank said, If such fraud has happened using the cloned card, it is unclear how the fraudster got hold of the pin. There have been similar cases in the past.

In February 2018, at least 50 people have cheated of Rs 9.11 lakh in the case of card cloning. The police suspected the involvement of an inter-state gang who fitted skimming devices and cameras in an ATM of a private bank on Charni Road (West). In June 2013, cyber thieves stole bank data of several Mumbaikars by skimming an ATM at the state police headquarters. The ATM belonged to a private bank, which has the salary accounts of police personnel. The bank credited the stolen amounts back to the accounts.

Mahershala Ali and Stephen Colbert talk about the ethics of cloning – Mashable

Posted: at 11:47 am

What would you do it if you were given the opportunity to clone yourself before you passed away?

That's the ethical dilemma at the centre of Mahershala Ali's new Black Mirror-esque movie Swan Song, but what would the man himself do if he was faced with such a situation?

"You know I've thought about that a lot, and all throughout shooting it, and even now and seeing how the film came out. And I think I would lean towards the natural order of things," Ali says to Stephen Colbert in the video above, which starts off light and then gets deep very quickly.

"What I walk away with from the film is that in reality we all have a better self, we all have a potential, we all have an inspired self, right? And so therefore we all have the potential to be our best self. So I want to be as present, and as fulfilled as possible, in the time that I have on this Earth, and make the best I can of every day and every moment. And when my number's called, I just hope and pray I made the best use of my time as possible."

If he hadn't become an Oscar-winning actor, it seems Ali could easily have gone into motivational speaking.

Swan Song will premiere in theaters and globally on Apple TV+ on Dec. 17.

Pokmon Cloning Trick Discovered In Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl – Kotaku

Posted: November 25, 2021 at 12:05 pm

Pokmon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have only been out for a few days and players have already stumbled into a massive glitch that lets you endlessly clone any Pokmon in the game, including whatever rare items theyre holding. That means it doubles as a duplication trick, and effectively breaks the game.

It appears the trick was first discovered by Twitter user Kevinfor5 who posted about it last night. Its quickly beginning to circulate around now, in part because its so easy to do. This morning, YouTube user and speedrunner Orcastraw posted a straightforward video guide to the cloning trick thats under a minute long.

Heres how it works:

I tried it myself and can confirm that it works, at least for now. The trick can be used to duplicate Legendary Pokmon like Dialga and unique items like the Master Ball. The only requirement is that youve progressed far enough in the game to have reached Solaceon (which happens shortly after you complete the second Gym).

This is far from the first time cloning glitches have been discovered in the series, including in Diamond and Pearl, but its surprising to see one crop up so soon after release in a modern Pokmon game. Who needs to mess around with hacked Pokmon when the game itself will let you generate your own? Kevinfor5 already claims to have found another even more efficient dupping method earlier this morning.

Pokmon BDSP were getting patched right up to release day, and Im sure more fixes are on the way. This new cloning glitch will probably be at the top of the list going forward.

How to Clone Items and Pokemon in Pokemon BDSP – SegmentNext

Posted: at 12:05 pm

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl community has been hard at work grinding the new games. However, that hasnt stopped them from discovering a duping exploit to clone items. In this guide, we will show you how to clone items as well as Pokemon in Pokemon BDSP.

The process to clone your Pokemon and items in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl involves going offline on your Switch and doing a few other steps.

We will be walking you through the whole cloning process to make things easier for you.

Go to the Pokemon Nursery in Solaceon town and enter it to talk to the lady standing at the counter.

Start the process by going in the Pokemon Boxes tab and 2 Pokemon in 2 different boxes but place them in the same spot.

For this guide, we will put a Cherubi and Geodude in the lower right corners of two different boxes.

After that, you need to activate your Battle Box by pressing the X button and then grab any one of the two Pokemon and place them inside the battle box.

Once youve done that, back out and then talk to the lady once again. After that, you need to select one of the two Pokemon and then switch it with the other Pokemon by pressing Y. Now back out again and confirm the changes.

You now need to go back into your Pokemon boxes and activate your battle box by hitting X twice. You should now be able to see a glitched battle box in the lower right corner of the screen.

Throw any useless Pokemon inside that battle box and then select the Pokemon you want to clone.

In our case, we wanted to clone the Palkia so we selected it and dragged it into the blue box on the top left of the screen.

Now select the Pokemon again and check its summary. As soon as you back out of that screen, you should be able to see a clone of the selected Pokemon right below the first one.

Just drag both of these Pokemon out and voila! You are done.

Ford and Fiat vehicles targeted by thieves who are ‘cloning car keys’ – WalesOnline

Posted: at 12:05 pm

Ford and Fiat vehicles have been targeted in a spate of thefts, where burglars use cloned keyless fobs to break into cars and vans.

Popular car models such as the Ford Fiesta and Focus are among the most stolen in the UK, and according to Facebook page Stolen Vehicles East Yorkshire, there has been a "startling increase" in the numbers of these cars being stolen.

The page said: "It appears these thieves are cloning car keys by plugging a device into your ODB ports."

Other reports have suggested that thieves are using sophisticated new tactics to gain entry to vehicles. Using keyless relay devices such as skeleton or "Tibbie" keys, they are said to be cloning wireless key signals, allowing them to open the cars on the driveway.

In Staffordshire, Fiat 500 models and Ford Transit vans are being targeted with an increase in thefts in recent months.

DC Daniel Trupp, part of the Priorities Team within CID at Staffordshire Police, said: We would like to reiterate the need for keyless entry car owners to ensure their vehicles are locked at all times when not in use and to consider using Faraday bags to hold their keys to prevent cloning, and maybe use steering locks on their vehicles.

And of course, please report all suspicious activity you notice in your communities and places of work.

Faraday bags, also known as RFID, are copper-lined pouches that protect against radio frequency interference and can help prevent some of the most common types of keyless car thefts.

Police also issued the following advice for owners of keyless cars:

- Check that your car doors have locked after pressing your key fob

- Park somewhere secure, such as a garage, or anywhere where itll be difficult for thieves to get your car out

- Use a steering lock or other additional protection

Humberside Police also issued advice to the general public on preventing car thefts:

- Remember to lock your car doors and windows every time that you leave your car

- Never leave keys in the ignition for example, when you go to pay for petrol, or when youre de-icing your vehicle on a cold day

- Never leave your car registration documents in your vehicle make sure theyre safe at home

- Park in well-lit areas

- Dont leave anything on show in your car even things like coats or CDs can be tempting for thieves make sure your stuff is safely locked in your boot. Sat navs and other electronics can be particularly tempting

- Invest in, or upgrade your alarm

Police also issued some tips for parking:

- Where possible, park in a locked and alarmed garage. If this isnt possible, park as close to your home as possible, whether thats on the driveway or street outside

- Park in well-lit areas, ideally where other vehicles are present

- Never leave your car keys in an obvious place when you get home, such as hanging them near the door or on the hall table

- Park your car out in the open, avoid spaces behind hedges or walls. Areas with CCTV such as car parks are much safer than side streets

Foundation episode 10 recap: clone wars and family reunions – TechRadar

Posted: November 19, 2021 at 5:58 pm

Huge spoilers follow for Foundation episodes 1 to 10. Youve been warned.

Its been more than three years since Apple took a gamble and announced its TV adaptation of Isaac Asimovs Foundation book series. The complex nature of Asimovs seminal works led many to believe it was unadaptable and, given how much Apple TV Plus latest big-budget show has diverged from its source material, you could argue that those initial beliefs were correct.

About this episode

- Episode 10 (of 10), 'The Leap'

- Written by David S. Goyer

- Directed by David S. Goyer

The Leap Foundation episode 10s actual title seems allegorical, then, given the leap of faith that Apple took in greenlighting David S. Goyers small-screen adaptation. But its been justified, with Foundation growing stronger with each passing week.

Wrapping up a seasons worth of plot threads while also laying the groundwork for season 2 may have been difficult for Goyer and company to pull off. After all, plenty has happened across its multiple storylines. However, Foundation episode 10 does a great job at both, delivering last-minute shocks and glimpses into the shows future narrative arcs.

So whats the state of play on Trantor? The Leap picks up where episode 9 left off, with Brother Day, having returned from Maiden, meeting with Brother Dusk to discuss the fate of Brother Dawn and Azura.

The conversation is tense, with Dusk strongly advising that the pair should be killed for their crimes. He goads Day for leaving, too, but Day bats away Dusks thorny comments with relative ease.

Days mettle is tested more when he meets Dawn afterward. Playing the good and bad cop, Day removes Dawns handcuffs before chastising him for conspiring with the enemy. Dawn bites back saying its Cleon Is fault that is, his desire to create a clone army to rule the Galactic Empire long after his death for originally putting them in this unsolicited position.

Its a valid point. The themes of choice and fate have been revisited time and again throughout Foundation. While Dawn and Day wouldnt exist if they hadnt been created by Cleon Is cloning program, they clearly question their place in the universe based on what theyve experienced in season 1. They appear to be going through an existential crisis, which is unexpected for clones that dont possess free will or a soul.

All of this makes for a pretty emotional scene and, given that their shared screen time has been limited so far, its also enjoyable to see Lee Pace and Cassian Bilton trade barbs. It feels like an argument a father and son would have a point forced home by Dawns claim that hes longed to call Day his father, even though theyre both clones of the same man. If thats not an unsettlingly warped relationship, we dont know what is.

Instead of taking his frustrations out on Dawn or Dusk, its Azura who bears the brunt of Days pent-up anger later on.

Initially, Day walks a similar good cop, bad cop line with Azura as he did with Dawn, but it doesnt last. Mocking her about the so-called legacy shell leave behind, Day eventually reveals how hell punish her for her crimes: every person that Azura has ever known, including her family, friends, former lover and colleagues, will be killed. That amounts to 1551 innocent people! With a flick of Days wrist, the horrifying deed is done. Everyone Azura loved is wiped out in an instant upon her own death, then, her legacy dies with her.

Its an incredibly ruthless decision. Does the punishment fit the crime? In Days eyes, yes. And, as viewers, you can kind of understand his stance from a preserving the status quo perspective. Still, its extremely harsh and is a reminder of the totalitarian attitude of the Empires rulers.

As for Azura? Shes locked away, constrained by shackles to stop her from committing suicide, and sensory shrouded for the rest of her days. Oh, and shell be kept alive by an intravenous drip. So thats the last well see of her.

And yet that isnt even the biggest jaw-dropping moment to occur on Trantor. Two more big shocks arrive in this narratives last main sequence, both setting up some tantalizing plot threads to be explored in the future.

With Azuras fate sealed, its Dawns turn to face the music. Brought before his elder brothers, Dawn is told by Dusk that, due to his differences and transgressions, hed already be dead if it was up to Dusk. With Day presiding over the Empires key middle throne, though, itll be him that decides Dawns fate.

Astonishingly, Day reveals that Dawn will be allowed to live. Delivering his verdict, Day suggests that his Great Spiral walk and meeting with other pilgrims on Maiden (which we saw in episode 8) did leave a lasting impression on him. He also explains that Halimas doctrine a soul incapable of change is a soul doomed to stagnation and Hari Seldons take on a similar belief system earlier in season 1 have reshaped how he views the Cleonic dynasty. Change, as Day puts it, is a good thing and its time for the clones to embrace it.

Furious, Dusk blasts Day for destroying Cleons legacy, and egotistically claims that history should bow to them. The duo fight as Dawn cowers in Eto Demerzels arms. Its clear that Day, who was Brother Dawn in episodes 1 and 2, was deeply affected by events he saw in those entries, hence his empathetic stance towards Dawn.

Its a courageous stance to take but, ultimately, one that doesnt matter. As Day and Dusk row, Demerzel snaps Dawns neck, killing him instantly. As a stunned Day and Dusk watch on, she tells them that shes loyal to the Cleonic dynasty and, as such, their pure bloodline must be maintained. Dawn, then, had to die.

Shocking as it is, its the culmination of events that have festered for some time. Ironically, its Demerzels programming, rewired so that shes loyal to the Empire, that condemned Dawn to death. It also speaks to how much faith shes lost in Day after their Maiden trip. Symbolically, its representative of a father losing his son, too: we saw how familial Day and Dawns relationship was earlier in episode 10 and Days distress at Dawns death is further evidence of this.

Distraught, Day burns Dawns body using the Empires disintegration device, before Shadow Master Obrecht arrives with more bleak news.

As it happens, Azuras gang didnt just change Dawns genetic makeup they altered every clones DNA, meaning that Day and Dusk could also be impure. Enraged, Day destroys the original Cleons glass tomb, symbolizing the start of the Cleonic dynastys destruction. Meanwhile, Dusk wrecks Dawns part of the Empires mural, and Demerzel rips off her human face in anguish for what shes done, revealing her subsurface robotic makeup. Fault lines have formed in the Empires usually tight-knit group and they may never be the same again.

By contrast, things on Terminus couldnt be more harmonious. Following his release from the Vault, Hari Seldons digital construct tells the assembled Terminus, Thespis and Anacreon crowd (and viewers by extension) why the latter two have been at odds for thousands of years. Simply put, Cleons first clone Cleon II killed Anacreons grand huntress millennia ago and blamed it on Thespis king to pit the planets against one another. That, Hari explains, prevented both kingdoms from leading a revolution against the Empire, which maintained the latters hold on everyone they continue to rule.

Next, Hari explains why hes an AI construct of his former self. Its a pretty convoluted explanation but, basically, the night before Raych murdered him, he swallowed a pill that contained millions of tiny self-replicating machines (we see Hari ingest the pill in episode 2). Upon his death and ejection from the Foundations main ship, these machines rebuilt his body with synthetic and natural materials to turn him into a digital construct.

Foundation spoiler-filled recaps

Its a lengthy exposition dump, but its necessary to understand Haris master plan. He adds it was always his plan to unite Terminus, Thespis and Anacreon. Now that they have the Invictus, they can use it to trick the Empire into thinking that the planets wiped each other out. This means that theyll no longer concern themselves with whats actually happening on all three worlds. That, Hari says, means that the trio of planets are free of Imperial rule and they can start building a fleet of battleships to go to war with the Empire in the distant future.

Admittedly, its all a bit fanciful from a plot perspective. Clearly, Hari is a very intelligent man with the ability to foresee things: its psychohistory, after all, which hes studied extensively.

Not for the first time, though, Foundation installs him as some messianic figure whos 10 steps ahead of the Empire and, as such, his plan cant fail. That reduces the stakes somewhat leading into season 2 and beyond, then, as we know everything has already been mapped out by Hari. Of course, any future Seldon Crises could throw a wrench in the works. But, for now, its slightly absurd that one mans predictions hold the key to overthrowing a tyrannical dynasty thats ruled for centuries.

Regardless, inspired by Hari, the three races band together and, over the next few months, set his plan in motion.

For Salvor Hardin, though, questions remain. Having asked Hari about why hes been guiding her in her dreams before he returns to the Vault he has no answers for her Salvor is none the wiser about why shes special.

That is, until she has another vision months later. Salvor deduces that the two children shes seen in her visions are Raych and Gaal and, following a conversation with her mother Mari, realizes that she must be Raych and Gaals child. Back in episode 2, we watched Gaal put her embryo in cryostasis. After Gaal is jettisoned from the Foundations main ship during episode 2s finale, Mari ends up being a surrogate for Gaals embryo i.e. Salvor.

Salvor decides to search for Gaal to get answers about her abilities, but not before she has touching goodbyes with Mari and Hugo. Based on these farewells, you get the sense that Salvor may never see them again. And thats definitely the case, based on how Foundations season 1 finale ends.

Episode 10s final sequence reunites us with Gaal. Her stasis pod, which left the Raven spaceship in episode 7, touches down on Synnax and she uses a self-assembling canoe to sail back home.

Tragically, though, her entire village has been destroyed. As Gaal had predicted earlier in the season, Synnaxs rising oceans would destroy its inhabitants if they didnt change their habits, and thats what plays out. Its a poignant moment: much like Demerzel, it seems that Gaal is the last of her kind.

Or so she thinks. A light catches her eye beneath the surface and, swimming down, Gaal discovers another stasis pod with someone inside. Rescuing the unknown individual, she takes them topside with the view of waking them up.

The following night, the individual wakes up and recognizes Gaal. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the person who was in the pod is none other than Salvor, who explains that shes been asleep for over a century waiting for Gaal. She reveals that shes Gaals daughter and then, removing her blanket, that shes in possession of Haris Prime Radiant. She goes to hand it to Gaal but, after the camera switches to a wide shot, the screen cuts to black. If nothing else, its exciting to see two of Foundations main characters finally meet. And we suspect that their journey together will form a major part of Foundation season 2.

The Leap is an enthralling final entry in Foundations first season. It simultaneously puts a cap on the series most tantalizing storylines and lays the foundations for plot points still to come. For a show that makes a big deal about some of its characters abilities to see into the future, that latter aspect will only become increasingly more important in season 2 and beyond.

If the past 10 entries have taught us anything, its that every word uttered or action taken has a purpose to it. And, as a culmination of everything thats come before, Foundation episode 10 proves this to be the case. Everything in this show has a consequence, or a cause and effect, and thatll continue to be a key strength of Apples adaptation moving forward.

Itll be interesting to see where season 2 takes these characters and the direction that its plot goes in. Aside from a few key story elements, Foundation has fully diverged from the source material so much so that itll be difficult to relate back to Asimovs works in the future. Apple's adaptation has become its own thing at this point but, as it charts its own path forward, it remains to be seen whether thatll be a good or bad thing.

For now, Apple can take comfort in the fact that Foundations first season was an overall success. Lacking Hari and Gaals foresight, its impossible for us to determine where Foundation goes from here. And that, whichever way you look at it, is exciting.

Foundation will return on Apple TV Plus for its second season. No release date has been confirmed as yet.

This NGO is cloning the world’s oldest trees to tackle climate change – Euronews

Posted: November 15, 2021 at 11:46 pm

David Milarch is on a mission, to clone the world's oldest and largest trees and preserve them for humanity.

"This tree was 1,000 years old when Jesus walked the Earth," says David Milarch, showing a seedling of a giant sequoia which he cloned from an existing tree.

David set up the Archangel Ancient Tree Archive in 1994. The NGO clones the world's most ancient trees, mostly giant sequoias and redwoods.

"The redwoods that we're cloning are 2,000-4,000 years old, and we have no idea how they can be that old," says Milarch.

"It's like finding a family somewhere in a remote area, where people are 200 to 300 years old. Wouldn't you want to study their genetics and find out how they're able to live for so long?"

The archive studies the genetics of ancient trees, before cloning them and planting them back in their native forests. Their aim is to reforest the Earth with trees that are resistant to global warming.

The world's last remaining sequoias are limited to 75 groves, scattered along a narrow belt of the western Sierra Nevada in California, US. They have massive trunks with bark as thick as 45 cm and can grow over 90 metres tall.

Giant sequoias, having survived thousands of years of wildfires and diseases, are now in danger of being wiped out by increasingly intense wildfires fuelled by climate change.

Large sequoias had never been incinerated before 2015, and the destruction of the majestic trees hit unprecedented levels last year when 10-14% of the 75,000 trees larger than 122 cm in diameter were destroyed.

One famous member of this family, General Sherman, is thought to be the largest tree on Earth by volume. An independent study found that this single tree can store about 86 years worth of a person's carbon emissions.

Milarch says that these ancient trees have the capacity to sequester ten times more CO2 than an average tree.

He believes that one way of reversing climate change is to repopulate the planet with these ancient trees.

"We found 130 different species of trees all over the world. We found 22 1,000-year-old oaks in Ireland," says Milarch.

He believes it is possible to clone 5 million trees in four years, using one tiny piece of a healthy ancient tree. The samples come from the top branches, which are then added to a sterile foam cube, along with a mix of hormones.

"We went from a 3-4 per cent success rate to a 97 per cent success rate by using these foam cubes with the hormones," says Milarch.

To avoid monoculture and promote diversity, the DNA of the strongest and most ancient trees is mixed, which helps these trees to be resistant to diseases.

"So country by country, continent by continent, you want to find the largest, healthiest native species of that country," says Milarch.

By cooperating with laboratories around the world, he thinks it is possible to create hundreds of millions of highly resistant native species.

However, to make a real difference, the world needs billions of these trees.

Watch the video to learn more about these ancient trees.

A last-ditch attempt to find the Eungella gastric-brooding frog in the wild fails but could they be cloned from extinction? – ABC News

Posted: at 11:46 pm

It's the bizarre frog of legend that swallows their own fertilised eggs, incubating them in its stomach before spitting out baby frogs once they have grown.

But a last-ditch effort by scientists to findthe Eungella gastric-brooding frog in remote rainforests of north Queensland have proved unsuccessful, all but confirming the critically endangered species is extinct.

Dr Conrad Hoskin, a tropical biologist from James Cook University, was one of several scientists who travelled by helicopterinto the western side of the Eungella range, spending threenights camping and surveying the creeks for signs of frogs.

He had hoped that the isolated location, along with the warmer conditions might prove to be arefuge for endangered frogs to survive and live with the devastating chytrid fungus.

"We often find a species we thought was extinctin these areas where the disease is present, but doesn't impact the frog population as dramatically," Dr Hoskin said.

"We found fantastic habitat for gastric-brooding frogs but no gastric-brooding frogs ...To us [that] pretty much means they're certainly extinct now."

As a final confirmation, water samples have been taken from the sites to be checked for any residual DNA from the frogs upstream.

The Eungella, or northern gastric-brooding frog, was the larger relative of the southern species, last seen in the wild in the late 1970s or early 1980s.

While the southern species has been believed to be extinct since the 1980s, some scientists had held onto hope the northern species was still living and hiding in the cold streams oflargely inaccessible country.

"It [the northern gastric-brooding frog]sits at critically endangered, and that's on the cusp of going extinct now," Dr Hoskinsaid.

"But adding this search effort now probably means we will push forward to list that one as extinct."

But while Dr Hoskin believes this was the final search he will undertakefor the elusive amphibian,he was excited to also find populations of other critically endangered frogs on his trip.

The Eungella day frog, Eungella tinker frog and the tusked frog were all identified by Dr Hoskin on the trip, two of which are endemic to the region and found nowhere else in the world.

"It's obviously really sad [to presume to Eungella gastric-brooding frog as extinct]but it means you probably then start investing your resources in the next most threatened things," he said.

Now, scientists from across the world have banded together in an extraordinary effort to undo the extinction of the exceptionally unusual frog.

Mike Archer, professor of Biological Science at the University of New South Wales, put together a team of scientists from as far away as Mongolia to work on cloning a southern gastric-brooding frog from a frozen sample.

"It was an individual that was in a breeding colony in the University of Adelaide about 40 years ago," Professor Archer said.

In 2013, the team had success in a somatic cell nuclear transfer.

"This is where you take the nucleus from the cell of your extinct speciesand inject that into an enucleated cell of a related living species, in an egg," Mr Archer said.

After hundreds of trials, they successfully transferred a cell, and started to divide it into a ball of cells.

"We had no reason to expect this was going to work, but to our absolute amazement [it succeeded]."

While they could confirm it was the DNA of the extinct frog that was building and replicating cells, the process stopped as quickly as it started.

To the scientists' disappointment, the cells did not go on to develop a more complex embryo, which would have gone on to become a tadpole.

Trials doing the elaborate cell transfer on other, living frogs also proved unsuccessful, meaning the technique rather than the frog's DNA was at fault.

The team is now experimenting with these procedures and looking for alternative approaches.

But there is no way to know when they could make a breakthrough, and Professor Archer knows other challenges lie ahead.

"When you're at beyond the age of the known science, there's no signpostto tell you how much further you have to go to succeed," Mr Archer said.

"In life the gastric-brooding frogs, the females swallow the fertilised eggs, but we don't have any adult females anymore to do that."

While the experiments are being undertaken on the southern species of gastric-brooding frog, the team do have a frozen northern frog sample.

"If we can get this process to work with the southern gastric-brooding frog, Eungella had better be prepared, it might get its frog back again," he said.

The technology isn't reserved solely for frogs, either, with ProfessorArcher already worked on a project that has sequenced the whole genome for the Tasmanian Tiger [Thylacine].

"If we are responsible for having seen species declined to the point of extinction, I really think we have a moral responsibility to step in," Mr Archer said.

"If the technology is there, or even if we need to build the technology."

"It's about trying to demonstrate that we can fix what we've broken."
