How to clone a laptop hard drive | Knowledge Base

If you have decided to replace the hard disk of your laptop with a new one, you can use Acronis True Image to do the cloning.
It is recommended to put the new drive in the laptop first, and connect the old drive via USB. Otherwise you will may not be able to boot from the new cloned drive, at Acronis True Image will apply a bootability fix to the new disk and adjust the boot settings of the target drive to boot from USB. If the new disk is inside the laptop, the boot settings will be automatically adjusted to boot from internal disk. As such, hard disk bays cannot be used for target disks. For example, if you have a target hard disk (i.e. the new disk to which you clone, and from which you intend to boot the machine) in a bay, and not physically inside the laptop, the target hard disk will be unbootable after the cloning.
(!)If you are using Acronis True Image 2017 or earlier, the cloning should be done from Acronis Bootable Media (created on CD/DVD or Flash). When cloning from Acronis Bootable Media, you do not need to have an operating system or an Acronis product installed on the new drive. You do not even need to have the new drive formatted to do the cloning. For information on Acronis Bootable Media see Acronis bootable media.
Even when you startcloningin Windows, the computer will reboot into the Linux environment the same as when booting from the rescue media. Because of this, it is better to clone under rescue media. For example, there may be a case when your hard disk drives are detected in Windows and not detected in Linux. If this is the case, thecloningoperation will fail after reboot. When booting from the rescue media, you can make sure that Acronis True Image detects both the source and target disks before starting thecloningoperation.
Assuming that you have your new drive installed in the laptop, and the old one connected via USB, here is a sample cloning scenario with Acronis True Image:
The product will then clone the disk.
Cloning of both desktop and laptop hard disks is supported.

Clone Cope – Splice Today

What would you do if you were dying and didnt want to leave your loved ones behind suffering from grief? What if you could clone yourself, and that clone would have your full consciousness and subconsciousness, yet no memory of being a clone? Your family would go on without ever knowing the truth of your death, and they wouldnt feel any grief or sorrow. You could die knowing theyd be happy.
This is the story behind a new film, Swan Song, directed by Benjamin Cleary, now streaming on Apple TV. It takes place in the future, and Mahershala Ali plays Cameron Turner, who has terminal illness. The end is nigh, and its not pretty. He has a wife, Poppy (Naomie Harris), and a young son, with another child on the way. Hes kept his illness a secret from Poppy, and in the meantime, has engaged the services of a clinic that specializes in human cloning. The director is Dr. Scott, played by Glenn Close.
The clinic is located in a beautiful place, surrounded by a lake and woods. Its a serene and tranquil, yet its futuristic setting is divorced from humanity. Dr. Scott is warm and kind but underneath shes more interested in creating more clones than helping people navigate their grief and pain. One gets the impression that Dr. Scotts focus on pure science of such an undertaking is synonymous to the notion of compassionate help, much like its present in assisted suicide clinics. At first, she appears to be guiding Cameron through the process where he controls the outcome. However, there are instances where its clear that Dr. Scotts mission is to complete the process of cloning and transfer.
Camerons conflicted. He doesnt know if hes making the right choice, but times running out. He lies to Poppy about going away on a business trip, while undergoing a series of procedures to make the final switch and release the cloned Cameron. But times running out. He could die at any moment. If Poppy and his son witness his death, then the experiment is useless.
We witness a series of flashbacks on how Cameron and Poppy met, some troubles in their marriage due to an untimely death of Poppys brother, Andre, and the joy and anxiety of expecting another child. They live fairly comfortable life. Setting aside the economics of the experiment, the subject matter of Swan Song naturally yields many questions concerning the ethics of human cloning.
Should humans be commodified in such a way? Isnt there human singularity and soul, which cant be cloned or replaced? Why are we afraid of death, and more importantly, are we making man the measure of all things, or do we have even a shred of awareness of the sacred that makes us question cloning?
Although visually well done, Swan Song doesnt ask any of these questions. Except for a brief moment, in which (through a flashback) Cameron, Poppy, and Andre discuss whether they would clone themselves, there are no other instances where a deeper reality of such an act is discussed. I dont expect a dry, philosophical treatise on the morality of human cloning, in which Glenn Close presents a lecture to the audience. However, the opportunity for explorations was never taken. Close, whos an actress of immense talent, appears to unchallenged, and thus didnt really rise to bigger heights simply because her character wasnt given any depth.
Ali and Harris offer good performances, but the film is maudlin and sappy. Cameron and Poppy are always crying about one thing or another. Hes emasculated and unable to make any choices, and Poppy spends a lot of time comforting him. Camerons dealing with his illness alone, struck with sadness that he will die. He has convinced himself that the best path is to not cause any suffering for Poppy and his son.
Although Camerons intention is not without merit or even love, this long goodbye has no meaning, except to say he made that final choice. The story progresses slowly into nothingness. Theres no conflict or even a mention of fate. What would have made the film more intriguing is if Camerons clone died shortly thereafter, say, in an accident. This would call into question the idea of predestination and whether ones moment of death is already decided. In turn, this then follows yet another thread of questioning: whether God exists and what our relationship to God is, especially when we think of death?
The story concludes neatly. Camerons clone made it through the transfer process, and Poppys blissfully unaware. The clone is indistinguishable from Cameron, yet thats not entirely true. During the process of transformation, the clone (whom they call Jack) is singularly different. Cameron and Jack fight over whos the real Cameron, and Jack has some strong opinions about Cameron and Poppys marriage. We could conclude that this is another side of Camerons consciousness speaking, but the difference between the two men goes beyond the idea of split or conflicted personality.
One of the biggest flaws of Swan Song is theres no authentic questioning that might emerge from a character like Cameron. Its as if the makers of the film were afraid to delve into those questions. Cloning deserves to be explored carefully. We have to ask what it means to be a human in the first place. Swan Song has an excellent cast and rich subject matter, yet, just like Cameron, fell accidentally into milquetoast choices.

Undoubtedly WhatsApp is a great news site. But due to lack of support for two different accounts on the same device, the messaging platform does not allow users to access two WhatsApp numbers simultaneously on the same phone. However, there are many solutions to this. Both custom Android clones and third-party apps allow the use of two WhatsApp numbers on the same mobile. Heres how to do it.
How to Use Dual WhatsApp Processor on Android Mobile Phones? Many Android phone makers like Xiaomi, OPPO, Realme, Samsung and Vivo are selling smartphones with their custom clones. These skins run on Android and bring some nifty features locally, including app cloning.
This feature is marketed by each vendor individually. I mean Xiaomi calls it Dual Apps. Oppo, Vivo and Samsung call these clone apps respectively. This allows you to duplicate apps like WhatsApp and use one for a different number. You can see how this feature works on different devices.

Another Cloning Glitch Found In Pokmon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl – Kotaku
Posted: December 15, 2021 at 9:40 am
No doubt, another patch is incoming. Screenshot: Osirus Studios/Nintendo/Game Freak/YouTube
Earlier this month, the Ver. 1.1.2 update was released for Pokmon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl. It might have fixed the known cloning glitches, but another one has been found.
Thats right, theres another menu glitch that allows players to clone their Pokmon. The glitch has been confirmed by numerous YouTubers, including Blaines, PanFro Gamers, and Osirus as well as Japanese Twitter users like Kajiyama. Once again, its possible to dupe full boxes of Pokmon with items.
Triggering the glitch can seem a little tricky, and its necessary to have the Fly ability for this to work. Here are the steps for the latest clone glitch:
1. To get ready, make sure that Fly is in the top right corner of Hidden Moves in your Poktch. Also, make sure you have a box of Pokmon you want to clone. And save before you start!
2. Get in front of a Pokmon Center. Any Pokmon Center is fine.
3. With the Poktch in the top right of the screen, hit R and A at the same time. It might be necessary to spam this a couple time, but once done correctly, it will take you to the Fly menu.
Its a good idea to wear headphones while doing this, because even though youre on the Fly menu, the glitch enables you to hear your Trainer going into the Pokmon Center.
4. Even though you are in the Fly menu, you need to head down the escalator off-screen in the Pokmon Center. To do this, press up two times on the D-pad and then go right six times.
5. Then, while still in the Fly menu, you are going to go back up the escalator. Press right once, left five times, and then down two. These movements are being down in the D-pad.
6. At this point, your Trainer is outside the Pokmon Center, but the screen is still the Fly menu. Then, using the right stick, select any city. This part can freeze your game, so make sure your timing is correct. Select a city, hit A, wait half a second, hit X, and then right after, hit A again. If your timing is wrong, youll have to do the whole process all over again.
7. Once in the city, enter a house.
8. In the house, you are ready to do the menu glitch. Its a good idea to use your left analog stick, so you dont accidentally move your Trainer. Also, stay away from NPCs.
9. Go into the box, pick a Pokmon, and press A. Then, hit X, which opens another Menu (the second layer of Menus).
10. From this Menu, go into your Pokmon, and hit R. Then, once the box window appears, hit Y twice and select the entire box. Press A to pick up the selected Pocket Monsters, and then toggle right or left to go to the box for the cloning, which probably should be an empty box. Then, move the cloned Pokmon to the empty box. After this, press B a couple of times to return to the first menu level. Select Check Summary. And there you go!
Both walkthroughs by PanFro Gamers and Osirus seem particularly helpful to those hoping to spawn the glitch.
You gotta wonder when Nintendo will patch thisand once they do, if yet another dupe glitch will be discovered.

Trevor Watts: ‘What I hear today seems to be a lot of cloning’ – Jazz Journal
Posted: at 9:39 am
Now 82, saxophonist Trevor Watts retains the same passion for creating music and collaborating with other players as he did when he led pioneering bands like the Spontaneous Music Ensemble and Amalgam in the 60s and 70s and Moir Music in the 80s and beyond.
I am finding the latest personal musical evolution, Eternal Triangle, very exciting, he says of the trio he recently formed with keyboard player Veryan Weston and percussionist Jamie Harris. The music is rich in melody and rhythm and improvisation and the group is developing all the time a lot of people liken it to the early Moir Music. We are planning to record as soon as we feel its the right time and when we get there it should be wonderful.
We accept any idea that pops up between us in the moment and try and make something of it so the music is always fresh. Its truly the sound of surprise. Isnt that what its supposed to be?
Veryan Weston previously played with Watts in Moir Music and has performed as a duo with the saxophonist. It was our friendship and long association that made it a joy, explains Watts of his duo with Weston. But also we have a very similar approach to music making. We accept any idea that pops up between us in the moment and try and make something of it so the music is always fresh. Its truly the sound of surprise. Isnt that what its supposed to be?
Percussionist Harris has played with Watts in the Celebration Band and also as a duo. Jamie came along to a workshop I did in 2000 as a singer-guitar player, says Watts. I couldnt think of a vocal idea for what I wanted to do but I had a drum so I said: Can you play this rhythm? He took to it like a duck to water. We used to get together three times a week for years and it became a mentoring process from myself to him. I found that Jamie was very quick in absorbing the way to play a groove or rhythm and assimilating ideas.
I ask Watts how he presents his compositions for Eternal Triangle to Weston and Harris. I usually dont verbalise. I work out a rhythmic and melodic plan, usually with some chordal aspect to it, but I leave it to them what they want to contribute once we have established the basic compositional aspects of the written material even that can change though. If a better idea pops up, we use it so everything is always open to development or change. Like life itself!
Watts first exposure to jazz was through his father. He had worked in Canada in the late 20s and early 30s and he brought back recordings Fats Waller, Nellie Lutcher, Tex Beneke, Duke Ellington so I was hearing that stuff from a very early age. And of course where I lived in Halifax there was nothing like it. Eventually I started to listen to Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Ernie Henry, Sonny Rollins, Shorty Rogers etc etc and on up to Cecil Taylor, Ornette Coleman, Coltrane and so on. It was a voyage of discovery. I never met any other people into jazz I was in isolation. And so, when it came to playing, although I studied people like Charlie Parker, I really took it that he was saying: Be yourself. I had the feeling that that was the goal.
So many jazz musicians in recent decades have studied the music to degree level. Watts didnt have that option. There were no music schools when I left school at 15, a working-class boy in the industrial north. I needed to find a way out from ending up in a dead-end job and music looked like the answer. And jazz was the music that enthralled me. I needed to find my own voice but what I hear [from college-educated musicians] today seems to be a lot of cloning. Good techniques and playing through the changes in a skilled way [but] thinking for oneself is best and keep[ing] well away from prejudices of any kind.
Having moved to London Watts found himself playing in various contexts, including in the band of English blues singer Long John Baldry. We often played the Marquee and one night Sonny Boy Williamson was the guest, he recalls. I remember that he hardly ever came out of a solo after 12 or 16 bars it could be anywhere! So when it came to my solo time I thought: Great, Im free! I played what I wanted. Sonny Boy was looking at me a little quizzically but he never said anything!
The British improv scene: There was a lot of politicking. Players desperate to show and say that their way was the way and so on. It became quite intolerant
Watts became a crucial figure on the British free-improv scene forming the Spontaneous Music Ensemble with drummer John Stevens, for example. His memories of that scene seem ambivalent, however. There was a lot of politicking. Players desperate to show and say that their way was the way and so on. It became quite intolerant.
For a musical style that seemed so revolutionary it does seem odd that some of its exponents stayed fixed in that style for the rest of their careers. Watts playing, however, evolved as he pursued other creative avenues. I remember John Stevens saying that a key to success was playing the same thing all the time, says Watts. I think some players took that on board. But for me it was always about playing something different [and making] new discoveries. I have always had a very eclectic approach and I wanted to play what I wanted to play.
In 1971 Watts played the Palermo Pop Festival with the Spontaneous Music Ensemble and singer Julie Driscoll, not long after the latters hit-making days with Brian Auger and the Trinity. Free improv and a pop music festival crowd proved a challenging combination. We were sitting down at that gig. Half the crowd were chanting: Julie, Julie! And half were throwing dirt from the football pitch at us. The stuff was falling short so we didnt flee, we simply shoved our chairs back and played the whole performance. It was actually very exciting and we were locked in the dressing room after the concert until it was safe to come out. I wouldnt have missed that for anything!
Watts formed Moir Music in 1982, incorporating West African music and other elements. Did he have to study African music and become expert in it to lead that band? I listened to a lot of music from around the world, traditional African music of all kinds being one of them. But you dont need to be an expert. Listening will give you a lot of what you want to know and improv is all about listening. When I first had a jam session with the Ghanaian drummer Nana Tsiboe I heard this phrase he played and something about the way it was played, I took [it] we were about to end. And sure enough we stopped together, on the button! And Ill never forget what Nana said afterwards: Its nice to play with someone who listens.
Audiences reacted differently to the music that Watts was now playing in place of the free improv of earlier days. Dancing was part of it and when you see people dancing to what youre playing its very inspiring. I remember one concert in Bogota, Colombia, during the insurgency there. It was packed and the more we took the music out, the more they showed their appreciation, cheering and clapping loudly during the music. It felt very special and could only happen within a certain time and place like this one. And of course we reacted to what the audience were giving us which was everything they had.
Moir Music also played in Burma. It was always important to me to take the group to unstable places, declares Watts. We played a concert at the Inya Lake Hotel. [Military dictator] Ne Win lived on an island in the middle of that lake and when we were at our loudest a searchlight came on from across the water and targeted the room we were in. This was an attempt at intimidation and some of the Burmese started to drift away. But we played even louder and stronger!
And in Mandalay we [were] told the secret police were within the performance space. Our little bit of subversion was to play [Bob Marleys] Redemption Song. Nana Tsiboe sang the words. The reward was to see the faces of those people who were being restricted light up.
I first met Peter Knight while working at Boosey & Hawkes music publishers in London in the 60s. He was selling violins, I was a music proofreader and John Stevens was working in the music hire library
Curiously, amongst Wattss frequent collaborators have been drummer Liam Genockey and fiddler Peter Knight, both best known for their work with folk-rockers Steeleye Span. I first met Peter while working at Boosey & Hawkes music publishers in London in the 60s. He was selling violins, I was a music proofreader and John Stevens was working in the music hire library. One day I said to Pete to come and listen to John and I play in a pub. He came and stated it was a load of self-indulgent rubbish!
In 1982 Watts and Knight ran into each other after a gap of years. Knight now declared that he wanted to learn about improvisation. So the next day I went round to Petes house and thats how we started. With Liam we started to play together in Amalgam. I loved [Knight and Genockeys] musicianship and I was always interested in putting things together that on the surface didnt fit the mould of jazz.
I cant resist asking Watts if he has ever gone to a Steeleye Span gig. Yes, a show in Worthing. What did I think? Load of self-indulgent rubbish, of course! he jokes.
Despite how remarkable Watts career has been, he has in the past said that he finds it hard to get gigs in Britain. Does he actually feel under-appreciated? Of course appreciation is wonderful and I enjoy it when it happens. But I am not doing this for peoples appreciation, states this most artistically dedicated and uncompromising of musicians. [Im doing it] to arrive at as deep an understanding of the music as I can muster in my lifetime.
Eternal Triangle play the Vortex, London on 22 December

ATTACK OF THE CLONES: Michigan lab clones ancient trees used to reverse climate change – WZZM13.com
Posted: December 10, 2021 at 6:55 pm
David Milarch says Earth is in trouble. Most of the planet's old-growth trees have been cut down, leading to climate change. He's certain he's created a solution.
COPEMISH, Mich. Giant sequoia trees generally grow on the western slopes of California's Sierra Nevada Mountains.
But, for the past 73 years, three sequoias have survived and thrived along a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan in Manistee.
That's not supposed to happen, but it is.
The genetics that make up the Manistee sequoias have become an obsession for a northern Michigan man who believes with conviction the trees' DNA is the solution to global climate change, and the cutting-edge work and research he's doing will eventually prove it.
The story begins in 1948 when Manistee, Mich. residents Gertrude and Edward Gray were vacationing in California. They decided to bring six sequoia seedlings back with them to their Michigan home which, today, is known as the Lake Bluff Farms.
Only three of the sequoias survived, but one of them is truly thriving and continues to grow, which many experts say is a marvel of nature.
"For [over] 70 Michigan winters, that tree has somehow survived on that high-bank property in extreme wind," said David Milarch, who is the co-founder of Archangel Ancient Tree Archive, a Michigan 501c3 nonprofit that preserves the genetics of old-growth trees. "That one tree may be the most important giant sequoia on the planet."
Based in Copemish, Mich., which is located roughly 30 minutes northwest of Cadillac, Archangel's mission is to archive the genetics of ancient trees, breed them and replant them. Milarch believes the oldest trees have superior genes that allowed them to live through drought, disease and fire.
"Reforesting the planet with clones of old-growth trees like sequoias and redwoods will go a long way in the effort to reverse climate change," Milarch said. "98% of the old-growth forest in the United States has been cut down and the aerosols those ancient trees absorbed copious amounts of CO2 and toxins from the air and created more oxygen, which the planet needs.
"If we don't go after climate change right now, chances are good within 50 years, this planet won't be inhabitable for human beings."
For the past few years, Milarch has taken DNA from the Manistee sequoia, as well as from California redwoods, and has been cloning, then growing them inside the Archangel lab using a cutting-edge process called micropropagation.
"We put seedlings from 3,000-year-old trees inside a sealed jar, and in two months, roots will form," Milarch said, while giving 13 ON YOUR SIDE an exclusive demonstration. "They're soaking in Agar, which is a special solution we create here at Archangel.
"In two years, through micropropagation, we can make 2 million copies of 3,000-year-old giant sequoias and redwoods and their clocks have been set back to zero."
Milarch strongly believes that by planting his cloned trees today, climate change can be reversed back to 1968 levels within the next 20 years.
"The whole world is on fire," Milarch said, referring to the continuing droughts and rising of sea levels due to glaciers melting. "We need to reforest this planet; every single person; every man, woman and child can literally pay it forward environmentally 2 to 3,000 years by planting one of these cloned trees."
Milarch has cloned the Manistee sequoia countless times and has shipped the trees to countries all over the world, including, but not limited to England, France, Australia, New Zealand and British Columbia.
He's also sending them to other parts of the United States. Many of the redwoods he's cloning are being used in California to rebuild the forests after the devastating wildfires that have perpetually swept through the state in recent years.
"We were told 10 years ago that what we're doing was impossible," said Milarch. "Well, that's obviously not true.
"Our motto around here is, 'The impossible just takes longer.'"

Winter TV Watch List: Androids and Clones and MacGruber, Oh My! – TheWrap
Posted: at 6:55 pm
While were getting closer to the big holiday at the end of the month, things arent getting any cheerier in TV land, with global viruses, potentially unsolved murders, cloning, Witchers and killer androids all dominating our screens. Yeah, things are very much real.
But dont worry, MacGruber (Will Forte) has returned to take care of everything while also making you laugh very, very hard.
On with the television!
MacGruberThursday, December 16, Peacock
The day we never thought would happen is finally here. MacGruber is back. Will Forte returns as the dimwitted, gleefully profane MacGuyver-style hero that he originated on a series of brief, bizarre Saturday Night Live sketches (and an equally WTF-worthy Pepsi Super Bowl commercial) and immortalized in 2010s cult comedy movie of the same name. Forte is joined by Kristin Wiig, who has been a part of the shenanigans since the beginning, and Ryan Phillippe, who joined the team in the movie. And Laurence Fishburne, Sam Elliott and Billy Zane are making their MacGruber debuts. Director Jorma Taccone has been talking about a follow-up to the movie for almost 10 years, so this is a long time coming especially for MacGruber superfans. After weeks of prestige television shows and movies, itll be nice to indulge in some silliness. [TRAILER]
SuccessionSunday, December 12 at 9 p.m., HBO
The Emmy-winning drama series wraps up its third season on Sunday, and bets are already being placed on whether Kendall survives the episode. Weddings and HBO have a deadly history, and this Sundays finale finds the Roy family still assembled in Tuscany for the nuptials of the kids mom, Caroline. Will Kendall bounce back? Will Tom and Shivs marriage crater? Can Roman possibly recover (psychologically, we mean) from the recent text-message switcheroo? Titled All the Bells Say, the eighth and final episode of the season is written by the shows creator Jesse Armstrong and directed by Mark Mylod. [INTERVIEW]
Swan SongFriday, December 17, Apple TV+
The feature film debut of Oscar-winning Irish writer-director Benjamin Cleary, Swan Song is the kind of high-concept, small-scale sci-fi film that works perfectly on a streaming platform. National treasure Mahershala Ali stars as Cameron Turner, a man living in the near future who, faced with a terminal illness, is convinced by a doctor (Glenn Close) to undergo a process to have himself cloned. Of course, complications ensue. Earlier reviews have praised the films poignancy, Outer Limits-y premise and its stellar supporting cast, which also includes Awkwafina, Adam Beach and Naomie Harris. Almost everyone agrees that itll make you cry. And who doesnt need some good, cathartic tears around the holiday? [REVIEW]
The Real Charlie ChaplinSaturday, December 11 at 8 p.m., Showtime
Charlie Chaplin is one of the most iconic (and elusive) figures from film history, and The Real Charlie Chaplin is a deep dive of the man himself. Using archival materials (including a rare autobiographical audio interview conducted for Life magazine in 1966), interviews with people who knew him and footage from his various projects, the film pieces together a more complete picture of the often controversial comedian and filmmaker. It is obviously an impossible task to condense and explain the life of such a complicated man in a couple of hours, but The Real Charlie Chaplin gives it a shot. [TRAILER]
The X-Files (How the Ghosts Stole Christmas)Hulu
Yes, The X-Files is a daunting prospect for a rewatch. There are 11 seasons (including two smaller, limited series) and two feature-length films (the first of which remains one of the more entertaining big-budget spectacles of the late 1990s). But lets make things easier: The X-Files has one of the all-time greatest Christmas episodes, unique for a show that traded on darkly tinged subject matter: The Ghosts Who Stole Christmas (Season 6, Episode 6). Not only is it one of the most intimate episodes of the series, with just four speaking roles (including David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) and a single set (a haunted house maximized for ooh-spookiness), but its also one of the sweetest. Another reason to watch this episode is for the involvement of Ed Asner, who passed away earlier this year and who is absolutely terrific as one half of a spectral couple (which also includes Lily Tomlin). When the episode aired, it also generated a lot of talk about the final scene: What did Mulder and Scully get each other for Christmas? You tell us! [WATCH]
The Murders at Starved RockTuesday, December 14 at 8 p.m., HBOAre we still into true crime? OK, good. The Murders at Starved Rock chronicles the murders of three women in Starved Rock State Park in La Salle County, Illinois. While a man was tried and convicted, doubts still lingered about the case itself and the prosecution that followed. What makes this three-part series (directed by McMillion$ vet Jody McVeigh-Schultz) even more intriguing is that one of the people involved is the son of the last living prosecutor of the case. So, yeah, this is going to get complicated. [TRAILER]
RumbleWednesday, December 15, Paramount+This animated feature, co-produced by the WWE and set in a world where giant, Godzilla-like monsters battle it out in wrestling arenas, had a number of release dates and is now (finally!) landing as a Paramount+ exclusive. The movie stars Will Arnett as a monster hoping to make his mark on the wrestling scene and Geraldine Viswanathan as his young trainer. (Terry Crews is his much more experienced monster foil.) With animation from the reliable Reel FX (which also provided the animation for last weeks Netflix movie Back to the Outback), Rumble should be innocuous fun for the whole family. [TRAILER]
Station ElevenThursday, December 16, HBO MaxIf living through a global pandemic wasnt enough you can now watch one on TV. Station Eleven, based on the acclaimed novel by Emily St. John Mandel, focus on the outbreak and aftermath of a deadly flu that wipes out most of humanity. Featuring a structure that involves multiple timelines (including what happens immediately afterward and how things are faring decades later), Station Eleven looks sobering and ambitious. Showrunner Patrick Somerville is coming from similarly envelope-pushing shows like Maniac and The Leftovers, with direction handled by the likes of genius Atlanta director Hiro Murai. If you can handle it, it seems like it could be a sleeper sensation this winter. After the first three episodes debut, the show will roll out with two new episodes each week on HBO Max which could be the perfect rollout for the obsessed. [REVIEW]
The WitcherFriday, December 17, NetflixWorlds handsomest man Henry Cavill returns for Season 2 of Netflixs time-twisty medieval fantasy that has already inspired an animated feature (released last summer) and several upcoming spinoffs (including a family-friendly animated series). Based on a series of fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski (that in turn spawned a number of equally obsessed-over video games), Cavill plays Geralt of Rivia, a monster in a mythical land known as The Continent, whom the series dramatizes at various points of his life. (This is not a show you can watch while fiddling around on your phone.) All eight episodes of the series drop at once, so adjust your schedule accordingly. And consider this a helpful reminder to toss a coin to your Witcher. [TRAILER]
Mother/AndroidFriday, December 17, HuluNot to be confused with I Am Mother, another futuristic story about killer androids that premiered on Netflix a couple of years ago, Mother/Android stars Chlo Grace Moretz as a pregnant woman who is traveling with her human partner (Algee Smith) and trying to survive the robot uprising. Easier said than done! The film marks the directorial debut of writer/director Mattson Tomlin, the writer of Netflixs similarly high-concept Project Power. (Worth noting that he also produced the upcoming The Batman and worked on the script for the superhero romp.) Some would undoubtedly prefer dodging killer robots to spending time with some of their relatives this Christmas. [TRAILER]

Are These ‘Human Sleeves’ Real? – Snopes.com
Posted: at 6:55 pm
In December 2021, a video was circulated on social media that supposedly showed a human sleeve, an artificial replacement body that would allow a person to live for eternity by using their stored consciousness. The conspiratorial website Before Its News, for example, shared this video claiming that it showed a whistleblowers video of clones in Hollywood:
The video, which can be viewed below, does not show a human sleeve or a clone. This video features a marketing display for the show Altered Carbon.
A posting of the human sleeve video went viral after it was posted to TikTok in October.
Now only if there was some truth to this. #immortal #immortality #viral #fyp #nyc #NissanShowUp #weirdtok #human #infinitlife
original sound Amari
This video shows a booth at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. While the presenters at this booth acted as if they were showcasing new cloning technology, this was really just a marketing ploy by Netflix for their new show Altered Carbon.
The Wrap reported at the time:
Wandering through the seemingly never-ending Las Vegas Convention Center on Tuesday, it was hard to miss the crowd gathered around around the PsychaSec display. Hosts draped in all-white were showing off two artificial bodies that, in a few years, humans could pay to trade their own crappy body for. At the same time, the host touted the companys ability to plant chips into a persons head and download every experience and memory theyve had.
Sounds pretty trippy, right? Unfortunately, PsychaSec isnt real. But even the CIA wouldve had a hard time getting the booth hosts to admit it
I pulled aside another tall, attractive young host and told her just give me the truth: this is just a cool ad for Netflix. She kept smiling and towed the itll be out in a few years line. I then pointed out gullible people, like me, were walking away confused because they were displayed next to real products and wouldnt acknowledge Netflix at all. Finally, I got her to give me a wink, confirming its all a put-on. Thank you.
Heres another video of this Altered Carbon advertisement that features the same two human sleeves.
In Engadgets write-up of the event, they also noted that Netflixs Psychasec booth may have been a little too convincing:
Venture beyond tech whales like Samsung and Sony, beyond the rows of smart speakers and giant TVs, and youll discover that there are weirder things to be found at CES. That might be why Netflixs trojan horse public relations move, establishing a fictional vendor booth deep within the Las Vegas Convention Center, worked a little too well.
Well, I cheated. I was already briefed (through a press release) that Psychasec wasnt a genuine CES exhibitor, despite this full-fledged stall you see here. Nope, this is a fictional company from Altered Carbon, the next big-budget sci-fi series from Netflix, which seems to borrow heavily from Blade Runner, at least in visual delivery.
The video of human sleeves does not show any real cloning technology. This video actually features a marketing stunt by Netflix for the series Altered Carbon that was put on display at CES in 2018.

‘Be highly alert!’ Scam warning issued as Britons face losing 40,000 to investment fraud – Express
Posted: at 6:55 pm
Action Fraud is warning that 36million has been lost to investment fraud through cloned company fraud in 2021. The scam watchdogs research found that a third (34 percent) of those between the ages of 55 and 70 were targeted by criminals in the first half of the year. Average losses in savings and investments came to around 39,218 per victim, according to Action Fraud.
This particular scam involves criminals replicating or cloning by using the name and identifiable information of a company online to trick unsuspecting investors.
Once a fake website is fully operational, fraudsters lure potential customers onto their site with offers of favourable investments and money-making opportunities.
Those who were targeted by the scam explained how they were asked to fill out a form on the website which asked for their personal details.
Scammers then asked their victims to invest their money in non-existent bonds resulting in significant financial losses.

Craig Mullish, a Temporary Detective from the City of London Police, discussed how closed scams tend to work and how people can prevent themselves from falling into them.
Detective Mullish said: Every year, victims lose thousands of pounds to criminals imitating genuine investment firms with some even losing their life savings.
This trend of cloned companies is particularly worrying as it makes it even harder for people to spot a fraudulent investment opportunity.
Investing any amount of money comes with an element of risk so always remember to stop and think as it could protect you and your money.
Its really important people take time to do their research and seek independent impartial advice before making an investment.
Experts at the National Economic Crime Centre (NECC) are working alongside the police to educate the public on how scams operate, as well as how savings and investments can be protected.
This advice includes saying no to unsolicited investment offers, using the Financial Conduct Authoritys (FCA) Register to check the validity of the firm and seeking impartial advice on how to manage savings.
Jon Shiland, the NECCs fraud lead, issued a warning that experienced investors are also at risk of becoming victims to this particular type of fraud.
Mr Shilland explained: Even tech-savvy and seasoned investors can be vulnerable, given that many of the adverts for them appear on or through well-known and trusted websites.
Everyone should be highly alert and take caution before parting with any amount of money online.
If it looks too good to be true then it probably is, but in todays low-yield environment investors should be mindful that criminals can tempt investors with rates of return which sound ever more plausible.
It is becoming ever harder for investors to recognise these websites as being fraudulent.
In response to this ongoing scam, Action Fraud is encouraging anyone who believes they have been impacted by cloning fraud to reach out to its service.
Those who have seen their savings and investments affected should reach out via http://www.actionfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040.
On top of this, victims of cloned scams should contact their bank as soon as possible to inform them of what has happened.
