Just minutes after his college season finished with a 3-0 loss to Florida in the NCAA Super Regional, Wake Forest All-American center fielder Stuart Fairchild was taken in the second round of the draft by the Reds.

The Reds took him with the second pick of the second round, No. 38 overall.

Fairchild, 21, finished his season hitting .360/.439/.636 with 17 home runs, 67 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 63 games for the Demon Deacons.

He's a very talented center fielder, said Chris Buckley, the Reds vice president of amateur scouting. (He) has a chance to be a five-tool player, to be a complete player.

Baseball America ranked Fairchild the No. 11 overall outfield prospect in the draft, noting he has the speed and instincts to stick in center field.

The draft continues Tuesday with rounds three through 10 and concludes Wednesday with rounds 11 through 40.

Weve got a good group, Reds general manager Dick Williams said after Mondays picks. Now weve got to add a little pitching tomorrow, but were in good shape.

2017 MLB Draft: Astros select Houston CF Corey Julks in the 8th round – The Crawfish Boxes

Posted: at 4:21 am

The Houston Astros didnt go far to get their eight-round pick. The Astros selected University of Houston center fielder Corey Julks with pick No. 241.

Julks, a junior at Houston, from Friendswood, Texas and played at Clear Brook High School. He batted .335 (72x215) with a .426 on-base percentage in 59 games with the Cougars. Julks had 27 extra-base hits, 45 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases.

Julks ranks No. 390 on the Minor League Ball Top 500 list and No. 500 on the Top 500 list for Baseball America.

Julks was an AAC First Team All-American Conference in back-to-back seasons.

Hes shown off his speed this season including, stealing home against Tulane.

This selection seems to be cut from the same cloth as Ronnie Dawson and Derek Fisher. Julks is an outfielder that does a lot of things well but dont necessarily one explosive tool.

Here is a video of him taking some cuts:

CF Charities 2017 Supercar Show Recap – duPont REGISTRY (blog)

Posted: at 4:21 am

If you werent in Philadelphia over the weekend, you missed out on a wild event. CF Charities is a Pennsylvania-based organization that helps less fortunate kids get better educational opportunities. We saw photos of their Gala and Supercar show from last year and it looked like a great party, so Tanner Mashburn (@tmashphoto) decided to cover it. Many were there, including the 76ers, Algar Ferrari, and WSFS Bank.

Saturday was a track day at New Jersey Motorsports Park. It was a day of tire destruction and smiles that culminated in the Fueling Bright Futures Gala at the Hilton Philadelphia. Sunday was perfect weather for a car show, and the lineup was one for the ages.

The parking lot of Wells Fargo Center was host to a McLaren P1, Saleen S7, and even a Spyker. Some of the notable attendees were a Ferrari 599XX, Lamborghini Centenario, two LaFerraris, and an SSC Ultimate Aero. Take a look at these photos and tell us your favorite. Scout.com, CF.C transitioning to new platform in July – Washington … – Scout

Posted: June 12, 2017 at 8:14 pm

COUGFAN.COM WILL BE moving to a new, more stable user interface next month. We have some preliminary information on what should be a smooth July transition.

Four months ago, CBS acquired Scout.com, CF.Cs network partner. The CBS team has since completed a thorough review of Scout's platform and technology and has been working hard to prepare the Scout.com sites for a comprehensive overhaul.

The preparations are nearing completion and the overhaul will be implemented in July. Here are some things to keep in mind as the transition nears:

By the end of July, CF.C will have moved to a new platform for all aspects of the site. That includes the forums, front page, articles, database and video. User accounts, articles, media and forums posts will be migrated to the new site. And yes, features like post counts and avatars will automatically be transferred, as well.

The biggest reason is stability. This new site is being built off the existing CBS platform, whereas the Scout infrastructure is less stable and a major burden to maintain. The CBS platform, in addition to offering much greater stability, also offers scalability, creating exciting potential for adding site features and improving coverage. It's important to highlight that while this is a new platform to us, it's not new to CBS as they've been using it for years now - this is an existing, functional technology that has been tested in a live setting.

For CF.C, the best time for a change like this is in July, in the calm before the storm of August's fall camp and the college football season itself in September. Changes of this magnitude cannot be implemented in-season: readers don't want to be distracted with a brand new interface and any potential accompanying bugs during that time. And the prospect of staying on an unstable platform until next March is a risk not worth taking.

A faster and more stable site. Specifically with regard to the forums, there will be some features and characteristics that some users have been requesting for years, and there will be an unlimited posting archive moving forward. Current forum archives will be migrated over, too. There will, however, be some temporary feature voids as they are re-developed, such as the Scout.com iOS app, Quick Reply, and effective search tools.

This is going to be the same CF.C same staff, same unique content, same community. It's just going to be on a new platform we believe will serve you better. While change can be hard sometimes, we've made efforts to make the new look as familiar as possible and are confident this is a necessary and beneficial move for now and the future. Scout.com has been through many changes over the years, but the CF.C staff and community has continued to be extremely stable.

The product that debuts next month should be viewed as a starting point. As we've done in the past, we'll request and compile your feedback and develop a priority list to submit changes, bug fixes and feature requests, which CBS says it will prioritize in the coming months. Thanks for reading and for being part of the CF.C community.

What Are CF Industries’ Price Targets and Recommendations … – Market Realist

What Analysts Recommend for Agribusiness Stocks in June 2017 PART 5 OF 9

CF Industries (CF) closed at $27.3 per share on June 9, which was 13.4% lower than its levels at the beginning of this year. CF Industries produces only nitrogen fertilizers and continues to remain under pressure from weak fertilizer prices (MOO). The nitrogen fertilizer segments of PotashCorp (POT), Agrium (AGU), and Terra Nitrogen (TNH) continue to suffer due to the same reasons.

You can learn more about what drives CF Industries inAn In-Depth Analysis of CF Industries and Its 2017 Outlook.

Similar to other stocks weve discussed, recommendations for CF Industries have also remained unchanged. Out of the 18 analysts surveyed, two analysts had a strong buy on the stock, and six had a buy on the stock. A total of nine analysts had a hold recommendation, while only one analyst had a sell recommendation on CF Industries for the next 12 months.

In February, the consensus price target was at a peak of $33.8 per share, which was revised lower in the following months. The next-12-month consensus price target on CF Industries stood at $30.9 as of June 9, 2017. The current price target would give about a 13.6% upside on the stock over the next 12 months if the current price were to converge to the target price.

Next, well discuss Monsanto.

Vertex in long-term reimbursement agreement with ROI for CF medicines – European Pharmaceutical Review

Posted: at 8:14 pm

news

Vertex Pharmaceuticals has reached an agreement with ROI to fund Orkambi for all of the approximately 500 people in Ireland with cystic fibrosis

Vertex Pharmaceuticals has reached an agreement with the Health Service Executive (HSE) in the Republic of Ireland to fund Orkambi (lumacaftor/ivacaftor) for all of the approximately 500 people in Ireland with cystic fibrosis (CF) ages 12 and older who have two copies of the F508del mutation.

The agreement also expands access to Kalydeco (ivacaftor) for children ages 2 to 5 with any approved gating mutation (G551D, G178R, S549N, S549R, G551S, G1244E, S1251N, S1255P and G1349D) and to people ages 18 and older who have an R117H mutation.

These reimbursements are effective immediately. This innovative long-term agreement also enables rapid access for people with these mutations if the labels of the existing medicines are expanded to cover additional age groups and if new Vertex medicines are approved for these populations.

We are pleased that these additional Irish CF patients will finally join the thousands of others around the world who are already benefitting from Orkambi and Kalydeco,

said Simon Bedson, Senior Vice President and International General Manager at Vertex. We thank the leaders in Ireland for working with us toward an innovative reimbursement agreement that provides access to these important medicines and also recognises the need for Vertexs continued investment in the research and development of new medicines for those people with CF, many of whom are still waiting for a treatment for the underlying cause of the disease.

CF is a rare and life-shortening genetic disease caused by a defective or missing cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein resulting from a mutation in the CFTR gene. Orkambi and Kalydeco are the first two medicines that treat the underlying cause of CF.

Ireland has the highest rate of CF in the world, with approximately one in 19 Irish people carrying a disease-causing mutation in one copy of the CFTR gene.

In addition to Ireland, Orkambi is available to all eligible patients in Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Luxembourg and the United States. People in 27 countries are benefitting from Kalydeco. Vertex remains actively involved in additional reimbursement discussions globally, with the goal of making these transformative medicines available to all eligible patients as soon as possible.

CF’s Pearson an early-draft favorite – Ocala

Posted: June 11, 2017 at 5:18 pm

By John Patton Correspondent

The 40-round Major League Baseball draft will take place Monday through Wednesday, and the first local selection is expected to be College of Central Florida right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson.

At 6-foot-6, 240 pounds, Pearson regularly had fastball readings in the 97 mile-an-hour range and, according to MLB.com consistently hit triple digits in a bullpen session in late May.

Rated the No. 13 overall prospect by Baseball America and 35th by MLB.com, Pearson has been able to locate his fastball for strikes, and the only thing that could keep him out of the first round is his complementary pitches.

"His secondary stuff, however, has been inconsistent," written in the scouting report at MLB.com. "He throws both a slider and a curve, though the latter is his fourth pitch, and on some days he has two distinct, effective breaking balls. At other times, they run together, and it might serve him well to focus on just one at the next level. His changeup has improved, but it also comes and goes.

"There is an injury history with Pearson he had a screw put in his right elbow in high school but he's been nothing but healthy and durable in junior college. There's some debate over whether his future lies in the rotation or out of the bullpen, where his stuff would play up, but there's bound to be a team that believes he can start that will take him in the early rounds."

Pearson is the No. 2 rated player in Florida, according to both services, behind only UF ace Alex Faedo.

Fellow CF pitcher Jackson Stoeckinger, a 6-4, 205-pound lefthander, who has signed with Kentucky, is the 351st-rated prospect by Baseball America and also should be drafted. Additionally, former Forest outfielder Joshua Greene, a 5-10, 185-pound senior at High Point, also could be taken.

The recent high school graduates most likely to be selected are Forest's 6-3, 200-pound righthander Hunter McMullen, a Florida signee, and 6-3, 190-pound outfielder Andrew Eyster, a Santa Fe College signee.

Eyster said he has heard from around 20 teams with some requesting he fill out information forms and others like the Toronto Blue Jays, Houston Astros, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals working him out and/or making in-home visits.

"You never really know, but I have been told I could be a second-day pick between the fifth and 10th round," said Eyster, who hit .530 with 35 RBIs and six home runs to earn the Star-Banner's 2017 player of the year award.

Eyster said he and his family "came up with a signing bonus number" that would make him consider foregoing SFC, but for now, it is wait-and-see.

The Star-Banner's 2017 pitcher of the year, McMullen throws two- and four-seam fastballs, as well as a curveball and a change-up. He said his fastball hit 95 during the season, and at a Perfect Game showcase on Oct. 20 he peaked at 92, putting him in the top 98.58-percent of all pitchers in his high school graduating class.

McMullen said he is hearing he could go between the 10th and 15th rounds with the Blue Jays, Cubs, Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds, Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox "and maybe one or two others" reaching out most often in the pre-draft process.

He said he plans on attending UF but added "going in the top five rounds or getting offered first- or second-round money" could change that.

C.F. Mller Wins Competition for Innovative High-Rise in Stockholm

C.F. Mller has been selected as the winners of a competition to design a community-focused highrise in the Stockholm neighborhood of Kista, a district known as the citys tech hub that is in need of attractive, contemporary living options. Known as Geysir, the 15,000-square-meter building will provide 220 new units of varying size, as well as 2,000 square meters of retail space, helping to develop the urban quarter.

+12

"With its strong basic concept and stringent architecture, the Geysir proposal wins the competition for a new residential complex in Kista for Aros Bostad and Vasakronan. With elegant volume displacements and double-sided faade finishing, Geysir creates interesting silhouettes and spaces. Geysir has great potential to lift the square, interconnect Kistagngen and Isafjordsgatan, and attract residents to the heart of Kista," said the competition jury in their citation.

The design of Geysir has been divided into two volumes, offset in section, to create a dynamic form and to open up double-height spaces facing the main avenue, Kistagngen. The building also incorporates several green elements, highlighted by a large landscaped communal terrace.

"The panoramic views of Stockholm, green rooftop terraces and a lively ground floor where residents can interact with all the people who work and study in Kista will form the setting for modern living," says Mrten Leringe, CEO of C.F. Mller in Stockholm.

On the two lowest floors, a food court with a deli, cafe and restaurant will invite both residents and community members to eat, with outdoor dining available in the adjacent courtyard. A low fence in the courtyard area will provide a visual border between the public and private areas, where residents will have the opportunity to grow their own crops.

Material choices throughout Geysir include a sleek terrazzo and tombac, as well as a double-sided faade finishing, cloaking the building in a series of interesting silhouettes and spaces.
