FC CINCINNATI 2 vs INTER MIAMI CF II SUNDAY, MAY 26, 2024 7 P.M. ET SCUDAMORE FIELD AT NKU SOCCER STADIUM

Keep up with all things FC Cincinnati 2 @FCCincinnati2 on X, Instagram and Facebook.

FIVE IN A ROW FC Cincinnati 2 extended their current active win streak to five matches this weekend with a 4-1 win over New York Red Bulls II in Montclair, N.J. The Orange and Blue hold the longest running win streak in MLS NEXT Pro following St. Louis CITY2s midweek loss to Houston Dynamo 2 and claim the longest win streak for any team in MLS NEXT Pro this season.

The longest win streak in MLS NEXT Pro history is seven matches and is jointly held by Columbus Crew 2 (2022) and Crown Legacy FC (2023).

EYE ON THE TOP SPOT After earning just one point through the first three matches of the season, FC Cincinnati 2 have won six of their last seven taking 18 of a possible 21 points. Entering the weekend, The Orange and Blue sit one point off the top of the league table trailing only Philadelphia Union II and Chattanooga FC (21 points).

GOALS, GOALS AND MORE GOALS FC Cincinnati 2s 20 goals scored leads MLS NEXT Pro. The Orange and Blue hit the four-goal mark for the second time this season against New York and have scored in eight consecutive matches. The Orange and Blue have scored at least two goals in four of their last five.

And everyone is getting in on the action. Seven different FC Cincinnati 2 players have scored at least two goals, the most in MLS NEXT Pro.

MORE MINUTES Defenders Brian Schaefer and Amir Daley, and midfielder Peter Mangione have started all 10 matches for the Orange and Blue this season. All three rank in the top six in minutes played across MLS NEXT Pro and Schaefer is the second player this season to hit the 900-minute mark.

GO ON, STEFAN Stefan Chirila took home MLS NEXT Rising Star of the Matchday for his performance against Red Bulls II where he scored two goals and tallied one assist. It is the second consecutive week the young forward earned the honor.

Chirila, 17, signed an MLS NEXT Pro contract on Tuesday and will spend the remainder of the 2024 season with FC Cincinnati 2 before joining the FC Cincinnati first team in 2025 as a Homegrown Player.

A QUICK STOP HOME FC Cincinnati 2 will enjoy a quick trip home before heading back on the road to finish out what has been a busy month away from Scudamore Field. Following Miami, FCC 2 will face Philadelphia Union II on June 6 and Carolina Core FC on June 15.

Results have been positive for the Orange and Blue on the road where the team holds a 3-2-0 record.

SCOUTING INTER MIAMI CF (3-4-2, 11 PTS., 11TH IN EASTERN CONFERENCE) A hot start to the season that saw Inter Miami CF II win three of their first four matches has fizzled, as The Herons have continued to fall in the Eastern Conference standings. Miami have lost four of their last five and were bested in kicks from the spot against Carolina Core FC last time out. Inter Miami CF II currently sit 11th in the east on 11 points.

Bryan Destin and Ryan Carmichael are in line to lead Miamis attack this season, as the forwards have combined for five of the teams 16 goals and added four assists in 16 total appearances. Leo Afonso, Inter Miami CFs second-round draft pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, leads the Herons with four goals but has not made an MLS NEXT Pro appearance since March 24.

Miami continues to search for answers in the defensive third as The Herons have allowed 20 goals through nine matches this season. Only two teams, New York Red Bulls II and Colorado Rapids II, have conceded more goals than Inter Miami CF II this season and The Herons are just one of two teams to concede six goals in a single match in regular season play this year.

Former Xavier Musketeer Cole Jensen is The Herons preferred goalkeeper as the 23-year-old has made seven starts this season after making a total of seven starts in 2023. Jensen has made 27 saves, the fifth most in MLS NEXT Pro and was in between the sticks for Miamis only shutout of the season against Orlando City B.

Federico Higuan leads Inter Miami CF II in his second season as Head Coach, and his third in a coaching role with the club. Higuan will look to improve on last seasons results as The Herons finished bottom of the Eastern Conference in 2023 with a 5-17-6 record.

Cystic fibrosis: global clinical trials landscape and treatments – Clinical Trials Arena

Posted: at 5:09 pm

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder caused by mutations in the CFTR gene, affecting chloride and bicarbonate transport in cells. This leads to thick mucus secretions in organs like the lungs and pancreas, causing blockages and health complications in the respiratory and digestive systems. Before the 1980s, many CF patients didnt survive past their 20s. Recent advancements have gradually raised life expectancy, with a projected 75% increase in adult cystic fibrosis population by 2025.

CF impacts an estimated 162,400 individuals worldwide, with a predominant occurrence among the White population. However, recent evidence indicates its presence in regions like the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America, although at lower rates. In the North American region, the US leads in cystic fibrosis cases, while Canada shows a higher prevalence rate per CF patient population. Europe sees variation, with the UK leading in prevalence, while Belgium and Switzerland show high rates despite lower CF patient populations.

In the Asia-Pacific, Australia and New Zealand report a significant number of cystic fibrosis cases, demanding strong healthcare initiatives. The rest of the world exhibits disparities, with Brazil leading in cystic fibrosis population and South Africa and Egypt following next, although with a moderate number of cases. These findings emphasise the importance of personalised approaches and strong healthcare initiatives to tackle cystic fibrosis on a global scale.

Since 2018, the biotech and biopharma industry has initiated over 450 CF trials. Europe and North America have conducted the most trials, followed by Asia Pacific, while the rest of the world contributes moderately. The US leads in North America, with the UK and Germany prominent in Europe. Significant research efforts are also seen in Australia in the Asia-Pacific region, and Israel in the Middle East. When it comes to patient recruitment trends, Europe shows shorter recruitment durations and faster patient recruitment rates in comparison to the US and Asia-Pacific.

While cystic fibrosis lacks a cure, modern treatments prolong lives through comprehensive management, including nutritional support, airway clearance techniques, and targeted drugs such as CFTR modulators. CFTR modulators enhance lung function by targeting the defective CFTR protein, though their effectiveness depends on gene mutations. They have transformed cystic fibrosis treatment by tackling the root cause of the disease.

The cystic fibrosis treatment market offers diverse products from companies like Advanz Pharma Corp. Ltd., Novartis AG, Pari GmbH, Pharmaxis Ltd., and Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc., covering small molecules, enzymes, biologics, and stem cells. Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. is conducting Phase III trials for small molecule therapies targeting CFTR protein, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve cystic fibrosis treatment. This and several other research and development initiatives represent a comprehensive approach by the companies involved in their pursuit to address cystic fibrosis treatment complexities and enhance patient outcomes.

In conclusion, cystic fibrosis remains a global health challenge, but recent treatment advances have improved patient outcomes compared to the previous years. Disparities in global prevalence rates and healthcare infrastructure highlight the need for tailored approaches and strong healthcare initiatives. The increase in cystic fibrosis clinical trials and diverse therapeutic options reflects ongoing efforts to address cystic fibrosis complexities and enhance patient well-being. Collaboration among researchers, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical companies holds promise for further progress in its management and care.

Rare disease clinical studies require a full-service CRO with expertise in patient enrollment, site selection, access to patient registries, and comprehensive global regulatory knowledge for rare and orphan disease trials.

The Defeat that Rocks CF Montral and Elevates Forge FC – MLS Multiplex

Posted: at 5:09 pm

CF Montral's elimination in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Canadian Championship against Forge FC marked a moment of reflection for the club and its supporters. With an aggregate score of 3-2, after a 2-1 defeat in the second leg at home, at Stade Saputo, the match exposed the weaknesses of a team that aimed for a sixth national title and a spot in the 2025 Concacaf Champions League. CF Montral took to the field with the responsibility to overturn the 1-1 draw achieved in the first leg, but was quickly stunned by Forge FC. Daniel Parra and Kwasi Poku put the visiting team ahead with two goals in the first 30 minutes, a tough blow to coach Hernn Losada's plans.

The two-hour delay due to bad weather seemed to have given CF Montral a new lease of life, as they returned from halftime with a more aggressive stance. The team managed to reduce the deficit with a goal from Victor Wanyama in the 66th minute. However, the inability to find the second goal needed to force extra time or secure a victory revealed a lack of offensive efficiency that has been recurring throughout the season. The quarterfinal elimination is a significant setback for a club with the ambitions of CF Montral. Besides missing out on the chance to contend for the national title, the defeat means the club won't have the opportunity to compete in the Concacaf Champions League in 2025.

Follow MLS Multiplex on X (Twitter).

Forge FC's victory represents a significant milestone for the Canadian Premier League (CPL) and for the club itself, which has been establishing itself as an emerging force in Canadian soccer. The convincing performance against a Major League Soccer (MLS) team like CF Montral shows that CPL is becoming a more competitive league and capable of forming teams that can compete at higher levels. Daniel Parra and Kwasi Poku stood out not only for their goals but also for how they orchestrated the game, demonstrating skill and determination. Forge FC's success is not just a tactical victory but also a sign that Canadian soccer is diversifying and strengthening its foundations.

CF Montral's defeat should serve as a wake-up call for the club. Management and the coaching staff need to deeply assess what went wrong and how these mistakes can be corrected. The lack of depth in the squad, defensive lapses, and inefficiency in attack are issues that need to be addressed if the club wants to return to being a dominant force on the national scene. For Forge FC, this victory could be a catalyst for a bright future. The confidence gained from this win can propel the team to new heights. The club has shown that it has the talent and organization necessary to challenge MLS teams, which bodes well for the future of Canadian soccer.

CF Montreal vs Nashville prediction, preview, team news and more | MLS 2024 – Sportskeeda

Posted: at 5:09 pm

Major League Soccer returns with a fresh set of fixtures, as CF Montreal and Nashville square off at the Saputo Stadium on Saturday (May 25). While the Boys in Gold appear to have hit their stride in recent weeks, the hosts head into the weekend on a run of three defeats.

Montreal suffered a quarterfinal exit from the Canadian Championship on Wednesday, as they fell to a shock 2-1 loss to Canadian Premier League side Forge FC at home.

Laurent Courtois men have lost four games on the spin and are winless in eight games across competitions since a 2-1 victory over FC Cincinnati on April 14. With 12 points from 13 games, Montreal are 13th in the Eastern Conference, three points and two places below Nashville.

The visitors were denied consecutive wins for the first time this season last time out, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Atlanta United at Geodis Park. With that result, Rumbani Munthalis men have gone unbeaten in four home games, winning two, since a 2-1 loss to Philadelphia Union in April.

Nashville holds the upper hand in the fixture, having won six of their last nine meetings. Montreal have picked up one win in that period.
