How To Use CBD Oil for Pain: What is the Best CBD Oil as an Alternative to Prescription Drugs? – Yahoo Finance
Posted: May 20, 2020 at 9:45 am
ATLANTA, GA / ACCESSWIRE / May 20, 2020 / It seems like CBD is being talked about everywhere nowadays. A recent Gallup Poll showed that 14% (45 million) of Americans reported using CBD products and the reason they were using CBD oil was for pain relief. With the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, the US laid the foundation for the rapid expansion of the CBD market.
CBD Oil and Pain Relief: a Dose of Evidence
According to Peter Grinspoon, MD at the Harvard Health Publishing "CBD may offer an option for treating different types of chronic pain. A study from the European Journal of Pain showed, using an animal model, CBD applied on the skin could help lower pain and inflammation due to arthritis. Another study demonstrated the mechanism by which CBD inhibits inflammatory and neuropathic pain, two of the most difficult types of chronic pain to treat. More study in humans is needed in this area to substantiate the claims of CBD proponents about pain control." [Source]
Along these lines, marijuana is said to be a fantastic muscle relaxant, and people swear by its ability to lessen tremors in Parkinson's disease. Watch this extraordinary video to see CBD in action (warning: you may get emotional). A single drop of CBD eliminates a Parkinson's patient's symptoms in 3 minutes.
A leading CBD resource, bioMD+, recently published an article titled "How To Use CBD Oil for Pain" in which they highlight relevant CBD research in this area. Read it here: https://biomdplus.com/how-to-use-cbd-oil-for-pain/
Cannabidiol (CBD)
Cannabinoids are a group of compounds that mediate their effects through cannabinoid receptors. The discovery of 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) as the major psychoactive principle in marijuana, as well as the identification of cannabinoid receptors and their endogenous ligands, has led to significant growth in research aimed at understanding the physiological functions of cannabinoids.
Cannabinoid receptors include CB1, which is predominantly expressed in the brain, and CB2, which is primarily found on the cells of the immune system.
CBD Oil Benefits
The most popular use of CBD is its utilization for pain relief and pain management. It is reported that 40% of users use CBD for pain relief. CBD's role in pain management has been demonstrated in research studies and embraced by celebrities and a growing number of professional athletes. In one study in 2014 published in the Hawaii Journal of Medicine and Public Health, CBD users reported a 64% decrease in average pain levels.
In a crowded market with little regulation, consumers looking for CBD products are often unable to find effective products. A leading CBD resource, PopularCBDBrands.com, recently published an article titled "CBD Oil Provides Pain Relief" in which they highlight relevant CBD research in this area and make recommendations for the top CBD oil for pain.
Based on their testing and analysis of hundreds of brands, the top company chosen in the article is bioMD+. This company is based in Marietta, Georgia, and has become a new standard for effectiveness and transparency in the CBD industry. The article explains how bioMD+ earned this reputation through its commitment to quality.
bioMD+ uses nothing but Organic Colorado-grown hemp and enhances each of their hemp oil products with a blend of natural terpenes design for maximum support for the effectiveness of the cannabinoids. Their CBD Oils are refined through a Supercritical C02 extraction process and then further purified into Winterized oil - a step which few other companies seek in efforts to cut costs. In each of their different CBD oil products contain 1,000mg of CBD per bottle, and lab results made directly available so the customer knows exactly what they are buying.

Is CBD Oil the Natural Cure-All We Want It To Be? – Earth911.com

Proponents insist that CBD oil is capable of curing a wide variety of ailments, from anxiety to nerve pain. But is it the miraculous cure-all wed like it to be?
CBD oil is a natural product that has gained popularity in recent years, thanks, in part, to the legalization of cannabis in many states. Youve likely seen businesses advertise that theyre now selling CBD oil (and similar products), and heard various claims about what constitutes the best CBD oil.
Lets start by explaining what CBD oil is. CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is a cannabinoid, a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis plants. CBD oil is a concentrated form of CBD that is separated from other components of cannabis. Its available in a wide variety of products, ranging from drops, capsules, and edibles to topical creams.
Note that CBD is non-intoxicating; it does not make you high. A different cannabis compound called THC is responsible for the high feeling associated with consuming cannabis.
What is the evidence for CBD oil as a beneficial remedy?
One of the most common claims of CBD proponents is that CBD oil can relieve anxiety. Generally speaking, theres evidence to suggest that this is true. According to a study by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, CBD oil is shown to reduce stress in animals like rats. Research subjects treated with CBD showed lower signs of behavioral anxiety, as well as fewer physical symptoms of generalized anxiety, like high heart rate.
Research on humans has also been promising. For example, one scientific study found multiple studies supporting the benefits of using CBD when treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a disorder related to anxiety.
Because CBD produces a relaxing effect, some people may find it useful in treating anxiety-induced insomnia.
One study, which examined the sleep patterns of 103 adults, found that CBD use was capable of decreasing anxiety and improving sleep in about 66.7 percent of subjects. However, this rate fluctuated over time, suggesting that the effects of CBD may not be entirely consistent. The research also showed very low risk associated with CBD use. Only three subjects did not tolerate CBD oil well.
CBD has also been claimed to be an effective treatment for depression, but the evidence is sparse.
One review from 2017 suggested that there isnt currently enough evidence to support CBD as an effective treatment for depression. This review also concluded that CBD may be effective for treating anxiety symptoms. However, it pointed out that many of the largest and best-received studies thus far have lacked rigorous scientific standards, such as the presence of a control group.
Other studies have suggested possible uses for CBD oil in other areas related to psychotherapy. For example, one study from 2016 found that CBD could have antipsychotic effects in some people suffering from schizophrenia. The substance also doesnt have the same debilitating side effects linked to most other conventional antipsychotic drugs.
There is early supporting evidence that CBD (and other cannabinoids) may reduce tumor growth at least in animal models. For example, one 2019 review of both in vitro and in vivo studies on pancreatic cancer development found that cannabinoids reduce tumor invasion, slow tumor growth, and in some cases, can even cause death of tumor cells. However, the exact mechanisms responsible for this effect are in debate, and factors like appropriate dosing are not yet clear.
CBD may also improve the uptake or potency of certain cancer treatment drugs. Its also considered an antiemetic, which can be useful in specific types of cancer treatment.
For people suffering from severe forms of epilepsy or seizures, CBD may be an effective treatment. In fact, the prescription drug Epidiolex was contains CBD. When taken orally, Epidiolex can reduce the number of seizures suffered by a patient. However, its worth noting that the patients in these studies were taking Epidiolex with at least two other epilepsy drugs and were suffering from an extreme form of epilepsy (i.e., Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome).
Epidiolex is the first FDA-approved drug made from cannabis; researchers are eager to learn more about how and why cannabidiol protects against seizures.
CBD can also function as an anti-inflammatory and an analgesic, according to some studies.
In these applications, CBD can be applied topically, usually as a spray. Anecdotally, sufferers of arthritis and similar forms of chronic pain have found relief when regularly applying CBD. As with many of the other potential applications for CBD, we need more research for a definitive analysis of its effectiveness for pain management.
Additionally, early research shows CBD to be well-tolerated by humans and animals. A review from 2011 suggests that CBD is non-toxic in non-transformed cells and does not induce changes on food intake, does not induce catalepsy, does not affect physiological parameters (heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature), does not affect gastrointestinal transit and does not alter psychomotor or psychological functions. This study covered even high doses of up to 1,500 mg of CBD per day.
There is some evidence that there may be long-term side effects of CBD, such as inhibition of hepatic drug metabolism, decreased fertilization rates, and alterations of in vitro cell viability. We need more research to confirm the extent and occurrence rate of these side effects.
Short-term side effects from CBD seem to be rare and limited, but can include diarrhea, fatigue, changes in weight, and changes in appetite. Its also unknown how and when CBD may interfere with medications and dietary supplements. Thus far, CBD appears to be less habit-forming than substances like alcohol and tobacco but may produce withdrawal symptoms if someone uses it consistently for an extended period of time then suddenly stops.
CBD oil appears to have some evidence-backed benefits for humans, with limited side effects. But its still something we dont know a lot about. The FDA does not yet regulate CBD, and warns that there are unanswered questions about its safety. Future studies may reveal important information about its applications for human health.
If you want to start taking CBD oil, consider talking to your doctor first.

Buyer beware: False medical claims about CBD and COVID-19 | TheHill – The Hill
Posted: at 9:45 am
As we all continue to navigate this challenging new normal amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers need accurate information about effective precautions to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
No proven treatments exist yet for COVID-19, nor is there a vaccine. That is why social distancing and good hygiene practices are so important to prevent the spread of the virus.
Across the United States, people are rising to the challenge, but a cynical minority has seized on the crisis to promote unscrupulous, and frankly dangerous, marketing claims about CBD products conferring immunity against the coronavirus and providing relief for those infected.
These false claims touting unproven medical benefits are nothing more than craven attempts to take advantage of fearful consumers. Moreover, it spreads misinformation among consumers anxiously seeking ways to stay safe and healthy amidst the coronavirus crisis.
A CBD store in Portland, Oregon was ordered by the office of the state's attorney general to remove signs claiming that its products could boost immunity against COVID-19. Last month, New Yorks attorney general ordered a companyto immediately cease and desist the marketing of their product as a means of curing the coronavirus.
There have been numerous reports of a fabricated news story promoting CBD oil as a treatment for the virus that was shared across the country through texts and social media, pointing unsuspecting consumers to a CBD sales site. Former All-Pro NFL offensive lineman, Kyle Turley, was promoting CBD products in the fight against COVID-19. Turley received warnings from the FDA and the Federal Trade Commission, and since then, these false claims have thankfully stopped.
During this time of heightened attention on wellness and prevention, consumers must be aware that CBD products have not been tested or evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Recent studies have also found potential harmful side effects from consuming cannabis products with Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) if a patient is infected with COVID-19. Studies have shown that many unregulated CBD products have been found to contain THC the primary psychoactive compound in marijuana though the labels may not disclose this.
Unregulated, untested CBD products present an increasing threat to public health. Consumers risk illness, exposure to THC and contaminants including lead, arsenic, pesticides and toxic mold. The vast majority of CBD on the shelves today fail to meet even the most basic safety and efficacy standards. CBD carries potential risks, including liver toxicity, fatigue and harmful interaction with other drugs. Not one scintilla of credible scientific evidence indicates that CBD products prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Consumers need to know these facts.
A recent report from the FDA to Congress underscores many of the warnings expressed by Consumers for Safe CBD and the Consumer Federation of America. While the FDA report is a step in the right direction, coupled with the agencys warning letters to companies illegally selling various products containing cannabidiol and updates on a variety of safety concerns, much more work remains to protect consumers.
Consumers deserve the gold standard protection that the FDA has provided for decades. We want and need access to sound, reliable information about CBD. Today more than ever, the FDA must stop bad actors from making false medical claims and encourage the further testing of CBD.
In these uncertain times, we urge consumers to take precautions and follow CDC guidelines, practice social distancing and avoid untested, unregulated products. As we collectively adjust to the realities of this global pandemic, we must increase efforts to protect consumer health and safety.
Sally Greenberg is the executive director of the National Consumers League. Thomas Gremillion is the director of Food Policy for the Consumer Federation of America.

Posted: at 9:45 am
SAN DIEGO, May 20, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CV Sciences, Inc. (OTCQB:CVSI) (the Company, CV Sciences, our, us or we), a preeminent supplier and manufacturer of hemp cannabidiol (CBD) products, today announced that on May 19, 2020, the Company received its formal Notice of Issuance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for its patent application 15/426,617.
The patent covers methods of treating smokeless tobacco addiction by administering pharmaceutical formulations containing CBD and nicotine. The communications between the USPTO and the Company conclude substantive examination of the patent application, resulting in formal issuance of the patent. CV Sciences has also filed corresponding patent applications that will allow the Company to seek similar patent protection in other key markets throughout the world.
The worldwide smokeless tobacco addiction treatment market is estimated at greater than $2 billion and provides another important long-term growth channel for CV Sciences, in addition to the Companys consumer product segment.
USPTOs patent issuance demonstrates that our proprietary technology, the first-of-its-kind treatment for smokeless tobacco addiction, is based on unique science backed by years of research and development, said Joseph Dowling, Chief Executive Officer, CV Sciences. This intellectual property positions CV Sciences to derive significant value from our development efforts with an important therapeutic drug that has the potential to transform healthcare given the public health, societal and economic damage caused by nicotine addiction. With this patent, our years of investment, research and hard work is now validated, and we are well positioned and proud to take the next steps towards bringing to market an innovative solution to address a huge unmet medical need and global health issue.
Dowling continued, The validation of patent protection provides CV Sciences with significant flexibility in moving this drug program forward, including potential co-development with a strategic and/or financial partner, as well as drawing on existing company resources to finance our drug development activities.
In light of this patent issuance, the Company has decided to form a new wholly-owned C-Corporation to which it will transfer the assets and operations of its drug development program, providing the Company with greater flexibility to fund and/or partner its drug development efforts and to separate a distinct operating segment from its consumer products operations.
The Companys initial drug candidate (CVSI-007) contains nicotine and CBD to support cessation of smokeless tobacco use and addiction. With USPTOs formal issuance of the patent, CV Sciences will continue development efforts as the Company seeks approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to commercialize the worlds first and only FDA-approved treatment for smokeless tobacco addiction.

CBD Global Sciences Commences Its 6th Year of Planting at Its Strasburg Pharms Subsidiary – Yahoo Finance
Posted: at 9:45 am
Denver, Colorado, May 19, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via NEWMEDIAWIRE -- CBD Global Sciences Inc. (CSE: CBDN;OTC: CBDNF;Frankfurt: GS3),(CBD Global or the Company), is pleased to announce the start of the 2020 hemp planting season, at our wholly-owned Colorado subsidiary Strasburg Pharms, has begun. This is the Companys 6th straight year of Hemp production at our 179-acre site. The Company has brought in additional farming expertise this season and, along with our first year of implementing expanded use of feminized seed, we will also be employing some additional techniques that we believe will greatly expand our yields while at the same time significantly reduce our costs per pound of produced biomass.
The 2020 growing season has arrived at Strasburg Pharms, Colorado, and we look forward to building on the progress we made with the previous years harvests, commented Brad Wyatt, President and CEO. We look forward to working with our team to optimize all aspects of cultivation and to deliver on a larger mission of bringing wellness to people so they can live happier and healthier lives.
In order to meet the growing demand for quality CBD products throughout the US, the Company will be planting in excess of 1.7 million feminized seeds which have been derived from our previous high yielding CBD strains. Hemp with higher potency CBD content reduces the amount of biomass required for CBD extracts allowing the maximum benefit in the production of cannabinoids, terpenes and other beneficial compounds. The biomass will be used to create our CBD products sold under our own brands, Aethics and CannaOil, and also for fulfilling orders for our select white label partners throughout the US and other parts of the world.
Our hemp is 100% Colorado grown with all-natural Colorado water, soil, sun and nutrients and NEVER sprayed with pesticides or chemicals. The hot summer days and cool Colorado nights creates the perfect environment for hemp cultivation. On top of that, at 5280 feet above sea level, the farm enables more potent UV rays presenting the perfect state for the plants natural photosynthesis reactions to facilitate maximum plant potency and growth.
In addition to the foregoing, CBD Global also announces the grant of an aggregate of 6,000,000 options to acquire common shares of the Company to officers, directors, employees and consultants of the Company, each such options being exercisable at a price of CDN$0.20 per common share for a three-year term expiring on May 19, 2023. On Sunday, my best friend Charli called me from her home in Maryland. "Why do people have to be so mean?" she lamented. "Why?"
She recounted her experience earlier that day getting mobile pick-up from Starbucks. (Oh, how I miss Starbucks.) A man named "Matt" in front of her snapped, rolling his eyes and growling about how his fancy coffee drink and almond croissant weren't ready on time. He did place a mobile pick order in advance after all.
"I told you I ordered it, it's right there. Look at those bags, see my croissant is there!" Matt growled, pointing to the corner section where items were piled up. Belittling the barista who was working in already understaffed conditions. "I want my almond croissant."
"There's no reason to be that nasty over a croissant," Charli shared in our conversation. "People just need to be kind."
Whether it's a Starbucks mobile pick up order that can't be located for "Matt." A work deliverable that wasn't completed. An assignment the teacher asked your child to do over. A team member showing up late to a meeting. An email that was sent to the wrong person. The store selling you expired yogurts. The parent who is loudly on her own work conference call and won't put her kid on mute during Zoom Circle Time. The list goes on and on and on.
We are all under a lot of pressure under COVID-19. And, sometimes, the easiest thing to do or say in the moment it's also the wrong thing. It's the unkind thing. It's the mean thing. Because in a time where we have very little control, well, being mean gives us some control back for a short time. It's a fleeting sense of satisfaction to unleash on someone else, to exert control over them, to be in control when you have no semblance of control otherwise with often lasting and damaging consequences.
We are all under a lot of pressure under COVID-19. And, sometimes, the easiest thing to do or say in the moment it's also the wrong thing.
Last year, I wrote a column for SWAAY entitled Please Don't Mistake My Kindness For Weakness. I argued that kindness was one of the most undervalued leadership qualities in our world today. The question I had asked was how could we afford not to be kind? Could we afford not to lead with kindness?
Pre-COVID-19, kindness was still a synonym for being a pushover, for being weak, for being ineffective. Now, during COVID-19, it's a synonym for strength, power, and influence.
Now, in this pandemic, kindness, compassion and empathy are the hallmark traits of leaders who will survive those who put their people first. These leaders know that when you care for your people, your people will care for your business. Businesses don't pivot without people. And great results during a pandemic won't come without kindness.
The question I had on my mind last year was, can women afford to be kind as they lead? I walked the line, the careful dance of being too nice or too witchy, too trusting or too controlling, too compassionate or the ice queen/dragon lady/the Devil who wears Prada. (Disclaimer: I don't actually own any Prada clothing, but that still has a nice ring to it.)
Could we afford not to lead with kindness?
And now, it would seem, that kindness was and always has been my superpower. That, along with finding a vaccine for COVID-19, kindness might just be what gets us through this pandemic to the other side, to life post-COVID-19 and our next new normal.
So please don't be mean. The next time you want to snap, have the last word, or just unleash yourself on someone else, remember this phrase that my father always reminded us of: "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."
And if someone is mean to you, you don't need to be mean back. You don't need to match every unkind word for another unkind word, you don't need to keep score, you don't need to bounce your anger back and forth like a ping pong game. Don't forget that silence is a powerful thing as Michele Obama says so poignantly, "When they go low, we go high."
I am not suggesting that you be a doormat. If people are repeatedly unkind to you, you don't want them in your life. If you have control over their contact with you, change it.
And though you can't always avoid the people you work with who are unkind, you can act as a mirror, reflecting their behavior back at them. "I can hear that your voice is elevated, and I can see that your face is red and tense. And what you specifically said to me was unkind. Is there something else that is upsetting you?"
Pre-COVID-19, kindness was still a synonym for being a pushover, for being weak, for being ineffective. Now, during COVID-19, it's a synonym for strength, power, and influence.
Often times, people don't understand the impact of their words and their actions. Being a mirror can help them understand their impact. And some will even apologize for their behavior.
However, the truly mean people simply don't care, no matter how much of a mirror you try to be for them. And in those situations, I focus on the kindness I can put back into the world to counter their meanness. Because in the end, like any good Disney fairytale, I always believe kindness will win. Afterall, the Disney villain is never the one smiling at the very end as the credits roll.
There's never a good time to be mean, and even if there was one it certainly isn't now. We have no idea what's happening in each other's families or in each other's homes behind closed doors. We have no idea what's happening in our minds. Behind all those beautiful pictures on Instagram of homemade banana bread, inspirational quotes, and drive-by birthday parties, there is sadness, there is grief, and there is pain.
So please just be kind. Be extra, extra kind.

The explosive growth of CBD oil and hemp-products is one of the many characteristics that will define this decade. From mass-producedgummy bearsto up-scale New York spasserving CBD Oil, its proliferation is well underway. As CBD becomes more integrated into the culture, entrepreneurs are already thinking about new ways to utilize and commercialize it. While CBD is used to treat anxiety, chronic pain, and stress in humans, its also growing in popularity as a supplement for dogs.
Until recently, there is very little research on the effects of cannabinoids on canines. But new evidence suggests that dogs with Osteoarthritis, a common joint disease, arepositively impacted by low-dosage CBD treatments. With on-going research across the country, it might just hint at the mass-market potential CBD oil has in the$636-millionpet supplement industry.

According to Packaged Facts 2019 analysis, the pet food supplements sector hasincreased in popularityevery year for the last five years. Interestingly, the data indicate that dog-owners between the ages of 25-34 contribute most significantly to the pet-supplement industry compared to other generations. Similarly, dog-owners spend up to four times as much on their pets than cat-owners, accounting for 78 percent of pet supplement sales.
With CBD oils quickly becoming a quintessential part of the supplementers toolkit, it's not surprising that this trickles down into the pet supplement industry. Already now, major CBD firms have established themselves as keen players in dog CBD space, with a lineup of dog CBD infused dog treats. A whole range of boutique CBD firms has cropped up, focusing solely on pet-related CBD products.
Here are some of themost interesting CBD companies that are shaping the future of caninesupplements.

As one of the early CBD firms to enter the dog market,Verma Farmshas quickly established precedent with its lineup of dog treats infused with CBD. Their products are domestically grown and rely onpesticide-free hemp and designed to be appealing to dogs taste preferences.
Fomo Bonespopped up a few times in my search, a testament to their effective branding. Complemented by clean packaging, their bone-shaped treats come in a variety of flavors and contain plenty of added nutrients that are beneficial for dogs, such as L-Tryptophan and valerian root, which is chosen for their calming effects.
Pet Releafhas gainedsteady recognitionfor its focus on the medicinal and veterinary properties of CBD for pets. Perhaps most notably, Pet Releafs appetizing menu, which includes flavors like Peanut Butter Banana and Blueberry Cranberry, charm pet-owners with the allure of treating their dogs to little something extra-special. All Edibites are organic with full-spectrum CBD and incorporate natural ingredients like honey and sunflower to boost its nutritional properties.
Honest Pawsstands out as a leading supplier of pet CBD products mainly due to its extensive stock-list. The company has simplified its offering by categorizing its products based on the symptoms a dog may show. For example, their Calming Strain helps with nervous licking, inconsistent sleep and dogs that frequently travel, whereas their turmeric-flavored Relief Strain emphasizes healthy ageing, joint health and is packaged with anti-inflammatory properties. Honest Paws fast growth may be due to its simplified offering in a market saturated with too much choice.
A frequent contender amongst the CBD bestsellers,Charlottes Webhas invested heavily in their own pet-focused CBD range. Similar to Honest Paws, Charlottes Webs strategy is to help the consumer choose the right product for their pet. Their CBD product Cognition, for instance, promotes healthy brain and immune systems with organic, all-natural chews.
Zesty Pawshas gone an extra step to introduce consumers to the veterinary properties of CBD, with different products designed to treat a variety of common canine ailments. While their Aller-Immune Bites help with overall immune health, their Mobility Bites provide more support for hip and joint pains. Likewise, for dogs with urinary problems, their Cranberry Bladder Bites may help alleviate systems.
Regardless of the brand, you may choose to buy from, whats interesting is the way these brands are promoting their products. Perhaps unsurprisingly, pet-supplements are marketed almost identically as our supplements. For entrepreneurs looking to make their mark in a relatively new industry, maybe the pet-food supplement industry is still ripe grounds for some new players.

It definitely has health benefits. A look into the hemp industry in SWVA – WFXRtv.com

ROANOKE/FLOYD, Va. (WFXR) Many hemp farmers have popped up in Southwest Virginia since it became legal in the Commonwealth in March 2019. But some farmers who rushed to start growing didnt have plans for the plant leaving the market saturated.
Many people are benefitting from the products produced by it hemp and hope the industry picks up.
Aaron Linkenhoker has used CBD Products made from help since 2014.
He tried it after he was attacked in college and suffered a traumatic brain injury.
Originally, he was on prescription pills and says he didnt like the way they made him feel.
They left me feeling somewhat zombified. Having to keep up with the routine of what do I take at what time, making sure I eat between pills, Linkenhoker said.
He says he took the medicine for about three years until he discovered hemp and CBD products.
After about 15 minutes, I could feel it in my body just kind of tingling and I thought, Oh, thats nice. It was not the psychoactive effects that I thought it might be, because thats whats usually associated with it, he said.
He is hoping others will experience what he has now that growing the plant and using it to create products is legal in the Commonwealth.
Patrick Sisk is a co-owner of the Buffalo Hemp Company and Aaron uses its products.
Beyond what it does for those who use the products, Sisk says the Hemp industry is great for the Commonwealth and he hopes it saves the agricultural business.
We have a lot of old farmland here. This gives some of those farmers a chance to keep that farmland. Its a good crop.
This is their second harvest of hemp, and unlike many others, they do more than just grow it they process and create their own products, sometimes in their own stores.
They make different creams, oils and paste from the plant for a variety of uses.
They use avila herbals, a nutraceutical company in Riner, to process their plants.
Chief Operating Officer Richard Obiso is seeing a backlog of farmers stuck with unprocessed hemp plants or biomass.
We have close to 25,000 pounds of dried hemp that we are processing for over 15 different clients. We get a phone call every day from someone what wants to sell it to us and were full. Were completely full, said Obiso.
Buffalo Hemp Company co-owner Kerry Underwood says he hopes the business picks up and more processors come online able to turn more hemp into products that help people like Aaron Linkenhoker.
You can grow a lot, but if you cant bring it to the market, or you cant create the oil, or you cant get a processor to take it from you, you just have a lot of biomass, Underwood said.
Linkenhoker says he consulted with his doctor before making the switch.
He says anyone else considering it should do the same.
